Guest Reviews
- Janelle (10/5): - The cottage was amazing. The air-conditioning and lights were on when we arrived so it was very toasty. No need to light the fire but it would have added to the cosy atmosphere. We catered for ourselves in the fully equipped kitchen. The spa bath was so relaxing and the bathroom was huge. A welcome gift of port and chocolate was a nice touch. Everything was scrupulously clean.Just the thing we needed after a busy 2 weeks of travel.

- Hair (10/5): Brilliant place and highly recommend it - Great place and easy access! Close to Tatra, and simply walked. Loved the welcome drink and chocolate!!!!

- Jessica (8/5): Beautiful, quiet and cozy - It was cosy and lovely. The bed seemed unstable and moved and squeaked a lot.
- Kym (7/5): A little disappointing - The cottage was very sweet. Bed was comfortable but (list but below) Bed squeaked everytime you moved.
Some of the pots/frypans we dirty. I didn't use or clean.
TV was older and not a smart TV therefore couldn't watch Netflix etc
- Bryan (8/5): - Reqlly nice enjoyed stay, need more light at the sign as ots very hard to find at night in the rain in the very dark.
Perhaps fix the top of the drive up a bit as its a pretty steep bump.
Small token of chocolate and port was a nice touch but perhaps reserch your demographic of who is actually staying. We didnt deink the port but local wine would have been a better option
- Sakr (7/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): The cottage was very cosy and all amenities were in working order. A lovely spot for a romantic weekend. - The property was very cosy, easily accessible. Wasn’t clear from the street where to turn into. Parking spot at Evora cottage was tricky to manoeuvre especially to turn around to drive up the long driveway.
- Louise (5/5): On the whole the place felt tired. - Close to the event we were attending. The bedding needs improvement
- Angelique (8/5): Enjoyable with easy access to amenities - It would have been nice if there were more supplies such as shampoo etc
- Cachia (9/5): 9 out of 10 - The place was lovely. There were cute little glasses of Port and chocolate on arrival. Very clean and secluded in nature. The mattress was springy and lumpy. We were both uncomfortable.
- Amelia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annie (8/5): Comfortable and great location - Location and the bed was very comfortable The couch was very uncomfortable and no personal touch
- Ewan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (6/5): A forest view cottage with total privacy - Location in Mt Dandenong was good. Excellent forest view from living room and bathroom windows. Very comfortable bed and good linen. Great for observing the nocturnal life if you are keen to get out and wander outdoors at night with a torch. A small number of issues that were relayed directly to Tudor Cottages regarding maintenance. They were responsive via text.
- Storm (9/5): Loved it, and will be looking forward to staying there again. It was hard to leave. - I loved the quiet. The sound of the road was almost impossible to hear, so I got the full beauty of the wind in the trees and the birdsong- oh, and the thunderous tapdancing on the roof of what could only be a very big possum L0L!
He only scampered around for bout 10 seconds, so all good. I have to say that for me, the toilet was too close to the wall, which made for some awkward, sideways shennanigans!
Just about 30cm or so further away would have been so much more comfortable.
- Claire (1/5): Never again and will not recommend to anyone - The Cottage in general was not clean, the roof of the porch is only hanging on by one board, there is Mould everywhere including inside. The Porch lean was covered in Possum poo and was in no way clean. The oven was not clean. Every windowsill was dirty. The winders on the curtains are all broken and we were unable to get any light into the cottage without manually rolling the blinds up. The walkway to and from the front of the property was slimy and when it rained, was extremely slippery. The sensor lights outside of the cottage, behind the other cottages, kept coming on and off during the night which woke us up regularly, even with the curtains closed. The gutters were full of leaves, there is Mould on the walls inside and all over the front porch. The property is nothing like the pictures on the internet. Overall, extremely disappointing. We wanted our grandchildren to come see us, but due to the state of the cottage, we had to meet them off the property.
Please look at attached pics for further reference.
- Penny (8/5): Very good - GARDENS AND WILDLIFE
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Shane (7/5): Good -
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Etna cottage was very nice and comfortable. Loved that it was set back from the other cottages. Very conveniently close proximity to Tatra receptions. Gardens need a little TLC
- Shane (10/5): Lovely peaceful getaway… highly recommend!!! - Very cozy little cabin, very clean!!! Easy access, hassle free arrival… Window coverings were a little old and didn’t quite feel private, tv could be upgraded with maybe some internet just for the tv… maybe think about changing wood supplier (not managements fault)
Maybe more comfy couch…
- Kerryn (7/5): Good -
- Fitzgerald-petts (8/5): Very good -
- Beej (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (9/5): Superb - The warmth as we walked in. It was simplistic, yet catered for anything.
Incredibly comfortable Although we managed to buy firewood, there was no kindling with it. They were huge logs of wood which made the fire difficult to work with.
Maybe a little kindling in the bucket would have been perfect
- Casey (10/5): The most wonderful place to stay the photos don’t do it justice soon as I walked in I was like wow what a beautiful plac - The location was beautiful and so quiet and relaxing had everything you need It was great. There was nothing. I didn’t like anyone that stays here would be very happy and relaxed.
- Elaine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Stephen (5/5): Lovely cottage but was very cold with limited blankets - It was a great location and lovely cottage with a spa which was a bonus. Port and chocs were a nice touch and good amount of kitchen utensils The room was freezing . Heater struggled to warm the room and we had to buy wood to light the fire for the second night . This should have been supplied for the price . We didn’t even have extra blankets to keep us warm and had to borrow a doona for the second night . Bed was a bit hard
- Trish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgina (6/5): - Bed linen was observed to be dirty when taken out of closet.
No quilt cover on the bed.
The complimentary shampoo/ conditioner and body wash we’re used and half empty.
We’re unable to open any of the windows as painted shut and as it got very smoky from the fire.
Ants in the kitchen cupboard
Wasps got in to the cottage and had no fly spray or windows to open.
- Lisa (9/5): Super cute. Great value. Pet friendly. - Loved the feel of the cottage. The heater was on and very cute. Loved that I could stay with my dog. Was at a bit of a loss as to where I should plug in the kettle and not all of the blinds closed. I didn’t mind but some might.
- Sean (8/5): - Centrally located to nice walks & gardens
- Tania (10/5): Wonderful place to relax and read a book - The serenity and ease of access. As I arrived I was greeted by the sound of Jazz music in the background. I could not believe how quiet and calm the accomodation was.
I left relaxed and ready for the challenges ahead.
- Geoffrey (10/5): Our anniversary - The location the cosiness, cleanliness and atmosphere The process of booking in, and our last night a baby crying during the night
- Angela (10/5): Great stay, great location, very comfortable! - Tudor cottage was a beautiful little refuge in Olinda. The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well -stocked, and the space was so pretty! We loved the a/c because of the hot days hiking nearby.
The area is amazing: I can't recommend the Mt Dandenong area enough. We got a great deal staying at Tudor cottage because it's generally very expensive to stay here. It was a great value. Our hosts were friendly and available, even after hours. I found the parking lot a bit tricky when another car arrived. I also found the online check in frustrating until I realized it likely only works during business hours : I was trying to check in during the evening. Little things...
- Sarah (10/5): - Adorable little cottage in the mountains, had a great stay :)
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): I live in the city and need a getaway from the busy life. This cottage meets my expectations and I had a pleasant stay! - Clean, quiet, the kitchen facility, and the welcome drink red wine :D
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Buckle (7/5): Our stay was OK, the location good, facility good apart from the couch. - The location was good, hard to enter the driveway from main rd. A lot of stair & rough path to get to cottage from carport.
The couch was very uncomfortable, we sat on the bed most of the time.
There was a strong gas smell when we first entered, from the gas heating.
- Wai (7/5): Good - - Spa was superb!
- Cottage was clean with comfortable bed, fireplace.
- Nice touch on arrival with heater and music on and a carafe of port.
- Secluded and private...lovely surrounds just cos it's in Mt Dandenongs
- Close to Botanical Gardens - Location hard to find. QR code with directions provided in email but if one didn't preaccess it won't be able to on arrival as emails are on one's mobile. Perhaps directions should be in main email body.
- Key safe hard to open. I had to sms staff. Staff was fabulous in helping out.
- Coffee plunger with no coffee grounds. It's not located within walkable distance to any coffee shops. A good coffee or access to one easily is almost expected.
- Couch was not comfortable.
- No power outlet in Bedroom or elsewhere without unplugging fridge/toaster/kettle
- Would have been nice to have access to some nice private outdoor space
- Lisa (9/5): We loved the cottage and where it was located as we walked into the village daily. - The welcoming fire. The complimentary port and bottle of wine. I liked how the cabin was secluded. No privacy at sliding door if other visitors were sitting out there.
- Alvin (2/5): Very poor -
- Liz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (7/5): It was okay but the hot water issue was very disappointing - Good location and clean First morning there was only enough hot water for one person to shower.
- Alapati (8/5): Good - Location and bushes around Exhaust fan isn’t working in bathroom
- Maiko (7/5): Classic and cosy - It was really pretty cottages! I am enjoyed to stay there. Not much things.
- Teneal (9/5): Superb -
- Rebekah (8/5): Very good -
- Terri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (6/5): It was comfortable, but needs some work and extra cleaning to be given a better review - Comfortable facilities, location was lovely There was no breakfast provided which we thought was to be the case; the cottage and surrounds are in need of repair and deeper cleaning
- Alice (6/5): - It was lovely to have the heater on when we arrived. Nice but dated. Very unkept out side. With a little work it could be really lovely. Ok, but only worth half the money we paid.
- Marius (8/5): Very good -
- Tanje (9/5): Cozy, warm retreat with everything you need for a short getaway - Warm and cosy during a drizzly weekend. Space heats up really well, and reasonable selection of cookware and cleaning products to utilise, (though we brought a lot of our own as we have been caught short in other accommodation before!) Directions to the property were very helpful as the access is a little tricky. We appreciated the jazz music, small vessel of port and chocolate treat upon arrival! Surrounding scenery is beautiful and we saw many parrots, kookaburras and currawongs. Can only imagine how nice it is during the warmer months, though the misty mornings were very pretty! Fantastic location for attending a wedding at the nearby Tatra Receptions. Was a slightly precarious walk down past the other cottages to ours, especially in the wet, but it turned out to be relatively well-maintained and safe enough. Front porch and the roof of the porch is precariously fastened (and loose) so we were slightly concerned not to cause it to move in any way. Bathroom could benefit from some attention to regrouting between tiles (that are slightly mouldy), and silicone in gaps between tiles and wall around sink. Couch can barely be sat on for more than five minutes as it is old and saggy - no support for lower back. Bed mattress is likely on it’s last legs and is also quite saggy and not very supportive.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valeri (9/5): Lovely couple getaway location - I loved this entire stay it was cozy and comfortable and in a convenient location to get across Mt Dandenong. The whole location was quiet and nice, very warm and beautiful. Not much to say here except access to the cottage itself was a bit difficult for my car as it is small. I also wish information about the fire place, being no wood provided and how it works etc. Was advised prior to us going so we could have better prepared.
- Gini (4/5): Disappointing -
- Damien (9/5): Superb -
- Beverley (10/5): We wanted to stay 2 more nights but we're booked up, our stay was awesome - The piece and quiet, the location Nothing
- Renae (9/5): Will be back 🥰 - It was very homely and within a short distance to restaurants and tourist attractions Only flaw was how thin the walls were between cottages.
- Julie (9/5): A very enjoyable weekend. - Cleanliness. The floor was a little dirty.
A few more towels would have been appreciated.
- Natalia (9/5): Superb -
- Brudenell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (7/5): Good -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Jo (10/5): Stunning , private, cosy! - Peaceful , safe, clean. It was the perfect Cottage! You can’t go wrong. Just a note - You can here the traffic on the road , not bad but i am just mentioning it.
- Kiri (10/5): wow, loved everything about it, didn’t want to leave!! - Everything, exactly what I’d expect for a cottage experience! Nothing to report here!
- Julie (1/5): Physically uncomfortable, highly disappointing and an awful experience. - The bush setting and location was nice. I spent an extremely uncomfortable night being bitten by mosquitoes and bugs, therefore, only staying one night out of a three night stay. The outside of the cottage was covered in cob webs, helping to explain the swarm of mozzies and bugs inside. Be aware, this property is only dog friendly, not cat friendly. If you also find your stay disappointing, do not expect the Managers to be understanding or fair.
- Crystal (4/5): Disappointing - The area & scenery.
Quick response from staff. Cottage furniture/cupboards dusty & floors didn't seem too clean.
Lack of basic attention to basic details (also having to pay for firewood which wasn't mentioned in add or have experienced in previous stays)
Beds/pillows weren't comfortable.
Wasn't able to open windows for fresh air.
Stained linen & towels.
No seating area outside to enjoy the view.
- Tegan (8/5): Very good - Great location, very cosy and pretty.
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Liked the spa. The fridge somehow flicked the safety switch in the bathroom for the fan to work so had to open windows or turn the fridge off. There was no ready fire wood in the apartment. Small things
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - quiet small couch, cold bathroom
- Brett (9/5): Superb - Great location and great accommodation for a couple
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - everything bed was a bit squeaky
- Alan (4/5): - The interior of the cottage was warm and welcoming, but the exterior looked tired and uncared for. The pathway down the hill to the cottage was dangerous at night.
The lack of being able to talk to a live person made check in difficult and time consuming after a 4-hour drive to get there.
A minor issue; the carton of long-life milk in the fridge was 5 months out of date and about to pop!
- Keely (9/5): Perfect weekend getaway! - absolutely beautiful little cottage. cozy and quaint with all necessary ammenities and facilities. great location close to many areas to explore. just perfect for a little weekend getaway.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Tudor Cottages has very pretty surrounds and privacy.
- Jack (8/5): - Everything is perfect, but the only thing that needs improvement is installation wi-fi and supply tissue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Incredibly relaxing cottage stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was really cosy, clean and the fire was going when we got there. Felt really welcoming too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not as good as we thought it would be
Way better places up there
- Nenia (8/5): Clean cottage! - We only stayed there for a night. Booked the Elan cottage and it was pretty clean and comfortable. The area is beautiful and quiet. I guess if I had to pick for negatives, it’d be that firewood wasn’t included in the accommodation charge. Guests have to buy their own-bit inconvenient. Maybe they could include the firewood cost during autumn and winter.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely lovely cottage with a woodburner and spa bath, close to William Ricketts sanctuary. The kitchen is well equipped, and the wifi reception is good. We really enjoyed our stay.
