Guest Reviews
- Samantha (8/5): - Nice and easy
- Allan (10/5): - Could not close the windows at ceiling height and the blinds were noisy all night. Also the room had no windows apart from the ones at ceiling 16ft, but the bed was the best one I have ever slept on 👍
- Sean (10/5): - We will be back at some stage.
- Kim (8/5): - Surprisingly good.
Unable to operate TV as batteries dead in remote.
Toilet seat needs fixing.
Communication from Monica at venue prior to arrival was terrific.
- Thus (6/5): - overall was ok but will never stay there again
- Anthony (10/5): - Good clean facilities at a affordable price.
- Magda (8/5): Hunter valley stays - Rooms are very small, very clean. Beds size is great but hard and because it is two beds next to each other with no topper to cover the middle part it is uncomfortable.
Overall stay for the price is it not bad.
It is not to far to travel it you visiting the wine country.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quiet on the grounds of the TAFE. Fantastic value for Money. Bus collected us FIR midnight oil. Could not have been easier.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend it
- Michael (8/5): - The Signage from the highway to the property could be improved - you come to a T junction with no clear direction
- Brett (8/5): - Went for concert and was very pleased with facility and location
- Laurel (8/5): - Arriving from Newcastle by taxi, we were disappointed to find the dining room and bar were still closed for the Christmas break and had to get local taxi into Kurri Kurri. Cleaning ladies were really helpful with info on courtesy buses. Beautiful, quiet place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable clean xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Stan (10/5): - Clean and comfortable property. Will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The venue is so quiet away from everything. I liked the way the Rover coach literally picked us up from M Block. The vineyards looked great.
- L (8/5): Spacious, comfortable accommodation - Spacious, comfortable accommodation and beds - perfect for an overnight visit for a music festival. Easy bus pickup venue for the festival was also a plus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location. Facilities and rooms very clean
Can hear the conversations (and toilet habits), from the room next door
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was excellent all round - great for concert goers as bus will pick up from front gate
- Tania (8/5): Overall a good stay. - Travellers need to be prepared for what this is. It’s simply a clean, economical room to stay in near the Hunter Valley. It’s not in the wine region, but a very easy drive. It’s in a TAFE campus, so no facilities or attractions within walking distance. The atmosphere is dull and you’ll really just want to be in your room. We arrived on a weekend, so no face to face service but the instructions and contact prior was clear and friendly. The room itself was small but well equipped, the bathroom was spotless, the shower had good water pressure, but I found bed was hard and very uncomfortable. The windows are also small and don’t allow a great deal of air circulation, so you’ll be relying on air conditioning. I’d consider staying there again when wanting to be in the Hunter region during concert period when other hotels are astronomically priced.
- John (8/5): "Unique" accommodation - We Were disappointed to find it was not a traditional hotel/motel (even though paying top price) but rooms at an isolated TAFE location. No windows as such and it felt a little like a "prison" without outlook. The fact there was no reception as such made it quite a dislocated entry and unusual environment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place was nice and we enjoyed our stay.
- Julie (8/5): Peaceful location - Stayed with family in 2 rooms next to each other, would have been good to have a key to the adjoining door, but overall a pleasant stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Walls a bit thin & bed lumpy/uncomfortable but apart from that a nice place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden treasure - Very quite, clean and comfortable, lots of kangaroos hopping around.
- David (8/5): Excellent staging post for a Hunter Valley break - Took my parents here as a part of our trip to the Hunter Valley. Picked this hotel because we figured that this accommodation plus a $50 taxi//Uber each way to join our wine tour was far more sensible than shelling out thousands of dollars for a couple of nights at a more central location. Very glad we did.
There's plenty of wildlife around the campus, and the grounds are all used for student training so there's an immaculate cricket ground, golf course, and an on-site winery as well. The campus was deserted when we stayed here, the only reason we knew anyone else was around was the presence of another car in the parking lot.
The only downsides were that the staff leave at 5pm on Friday; there's no on-site catering so you have to drive to Kurri or another nearby town for breakfast and dinner. The extractor fans are also quite loud - so if a neighbouring room turns their bathroom light on you have to listen to that for the next ten minutes or so.
- Tracey (8/5): Great hotel - We stayed over night with friends for a concert. Perfect venue with bus collection. Great spot with a large group of family. Clean tidy and comfortable. Would come again. If the cafe restaurant was open that would have been even better.
- Chris. (10/5): Quiet Serenity & Peaceful Creatures - Loved the Accommodation provided and being able to walk around the grounds and gardens was just so lovely. Would have to have some of the most comfortable beds we've slept on out of a lot of the hotels we've stayed at, wonderful sized nice and clean bathroom. To interact with the local wildlife, not feeding but walking among them is just spectacular. Will be coming back to this place more often.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Practical and comfortable, no hassle - We were forced to arrive after hours - the hotel staff were very accommodating and helped everything go smoothly. I'd recommend this on all of cost, comfort, and convenience bases.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's was nice and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a very good experience. Friendly staff who guided us about the places to visit in hunter valley. Room was clean with all the required facilities . A group of Kangaroos were cited around this place . Love to be there again.
- Shell (8/5): Lovely stay - Lovely stay, limited staff on weekends being at a Tafe. But clean and tidy, plenty of room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable, cosy, all you need. - The room was lovely but the area felt a little isolated. The reception was separate from rooms, and when we arrived, we were the only guests. It's a bit college dormitory-like despite the more than adequate/cosy, comfortable hotel accommodation.
- Nancy (2/5): Far away from the Hunter definitely not good - The 'hotel' neglected to mention that there were no other guests at all.no breakfast facilities, no room clean up, towels were frayed, bathroom floor had mold all over the grout, wifi did not work ,hot water took 5-10 minutes to get to the tap, the air con took an off hours person to make it work, the room was very small, no where to sit, all in all a very bad experience, would definitely NOT reccommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place would recommend it. Convenient locality to where we were going to a concert.
- Alexander (8/5): Quiet Countryside Stay. - Good value for a quiet overnight stay as it is located in the TAFE and is part of the hospitality training they offer.
- Jane (6/5): - Don't be fooled by the photo....it isn't true reflection of the property
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cheap but great accommodation - I found that when I tried to book accommodation for the weekend that we were going to a concert there was nothing available at all and certainly nothing just for one night which is what we wanted. I finally came across HVHA and checked it out. I liked what I saw and could I get in for the night I wanted so we took it.
- Antoinetta (6/5): Out of the way - This hotel is really isolated on the outskirts of town. I was the only person staying there and I felt quite nervous. There was a number I could ring but how helpful is that in an emergency? I did not feel safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice clean comfortable room, one of the nicer ones I've stayed in for an affordable price
- Mauricio (8/5): Confortable and well located hotel - Very good, maybe the walls between rooms a bit thin
- Jana (2/5): Do not stay here - This was the most terrible place I have stayed. It was set up like dorm rooms with young people drunk out the front and empty alcohol cans in the common area. The walls were paper thin I could hear everything that was said next door as well as the tv and even coins being placed on the desk. I had to sleep with a pillow over my head! I would not recommend or ever stay here again! Terrible!!!
- Dawn (10/5): Quiet and serene bushland setting - Lovely and quiet . . . stayed there before, we would stay there again. Everyone was very helpful . . .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good clean modern room but.... - Whilst the rooms were lovely...modern comfortable and very clean. We heard everything our neighbouring room did and said ...not muffled...crystal clear word for word! It was like there was a gap in the walls somewhere. It was quite uncomfortable actually. We even had to change our tv station to match theirs so we could hear ours.
- Patula (6/5): Nice room, but no hotel amenities. - The room is nice and clean (the floors on the bathroom can be cleaner, good scrub needed).
Since the hotel is in an educational precinct it doesn't offer the comforts of a normal hotel. But it's a good option if your only seeking to sleep and leave.
- Sharon (10/5): Great for concerts in the Hunter Vally - Clean and comfortable. Bus at the door to take us to the concert we were there for. Would happily stay there again.
- carol (8/5): Nice and quiet no traffic noice - Very comfortable room tea coffee provided .easy to find arrived home to find kangaroos every where was exciting bus collect you from there to u back to your room very well organised
- Graeme (8/5): Hunter Valley - We were attending a Simply Red concert and decided to stay overnight instead of driving back to Sydney that same night. The Hotel is located on the Kurri Kurri TAFE Campus and we were so pleasantly surprised to find the Hotel to be modern, our room spacious, comfortable and with modern facilities. Check in was easy and if we were delayed arriving at the Hotel and were to arrive late they provided facilities were you we were able to get access your room. We enjoyed our stay and are happy to recommend the Hotel to anyone who wants to explore the Hunter Valley region without having to pay a high price for accommodation expected by other Hotels.
- Peter (10/5): Nice quiet hotel close to wineries - The hotel being in a nice quiet bushland setting was just what we needed, (living in Sydney).
The staff where helpful & welcoming putting at ease after the long drive.
The room was very comfortable.
- Hsiu-Teng (10/5): - nice to go with a group of friends
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a good place to stay - couldn't sleep at night . you hear everything from next room . No room service .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lacks a bit of charm & has a bit of a school camp vibe, but otherwise is clean & comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed our night. Ease of access and quite. Service was great.
- marg (10/5): Nice quiet place - Wonderful quiet enjoyable hotel plenty of wildlife to enjoy if you want to enjoy peace this is the place to be
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very clean room - My friend and I stayed in a king room. All were so clean. Bed making was perfect.
The location was easy to find.
- Christine (8/5): Hidden Gem close to major roads and highway - We needed a no frills one night stay in this locality and it was our pleasure to find this accommodation delightful.
We were greeted warmly at reception by Monica who was very helpful and efficient.
At dusk and in the morning there were kangaroos peacefully grazing on the lawn outside our accommodation building.
On checkout the next morning we met the campus administrator Desley who was just as warm as her team. She personally delivered the days newspaper to us while we were having breakfast in the cafeteria.
- Greg (8/5): - Would have been 5 star except for size of TV
- Lindoret (10/5): quiet rural location - beautiful room on TAFE campus, kangaroos outside at breakfast!
- jo (8/5): Was a bit strange, hotel is in the Tafe complex. - Staff were lovely, just felt a bit like a dorm, as it's in the Tafe grounds.
- lou (4/5): Very disappointed, so overpriced - Basic dorm room type accommodation with a bathroom. Too expensive at $160 a night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and quiet location, pleasant grounds, easy !! - Nice and quiet location, pleasant grounds, easy !!
