• Douthett (7/5): Extremely noisy at night with trucks and car noise. Would not stay there again. - We did not have breakfast. The rooms and kitchen/lounge were perfect. The staff were very friendly. For this time of year there was a large amount of flies in the unit. However, fly spray was provided. The motel had so much road traffic passing during the night that I had a VERY disturbed sleep and left for my next day's journey more tired than when I arrived the previous evening.

• Linda (8/5): - The room was spacious but it was dated and the bathroom had a strange layout and was very small. It was very quiet even though it was on a main road and the bed was comfortable Strange bathroom layout and very small. We asked for some ice cubes for our evening drink but were told they did not provide ice cube trays and suggested if we wanted ice we should go to the service station and buy a bag which seemed ridiculous when I only wanted a cup of ice for drinks. I've never been refused ice before, the receptionist gave the excuse that they don't provide ice cube trays in the freezer as it's too hard for the cleaners to check/refill them and this was said to me quite condescendingly.

Numbered rooms easily labeled, easy to find room. Good working fridge. Didn't like the shower not having a shower hose. Cramped bathroom and loo. Light switches, benches too low, bad for back. The entrance driveway steep and narrow to drive up.

Starting with reception, Jody couldn't do enough to ensure a pleasant stay. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable.. Two comfy arm chairs were a great place to watch the rugby. Great value, tidy and clean. Next time in Timaru, this will be the pick
