- H5585PYjenr (2/5): Bad experience - Google
Easy to book, friendly lady at checkin.
We had a twin bed room which was sadly lacking in every respect apart from the air con which appeared to be fairly new.
Flyscreen on window missing, was on roof below so unable to have window open as multiple insects came in. Very noisy as on busy road. Exhaust fan in bathroom had no cover and was extremely dirty and full of cobwebs, window sill full of dead insects and dirt. Tap in basin very wobbly and not attached to basin properly.Freezer compartment in very old fridge was detached and unusable. Bedside tables , skirting boards very dirty as well as coverlet on one bed needed a wash. Shower gel and conditioner containers in shower were empty. No wardrobe .For $190 a night for two people we were very disappointed and could not recommend.
- 525kimblew (10/5): Across Country Motor Inn - These guys were more than happy to help with anything that I needed.
Always had a pleasant conversation and promoted a family atmosphere in all parts of my stay.
Arriving late in the day like I did I was made to feel at home and comfortable.
- 933vikkii (10/5): Faultless and personalised service - We stayed at the Across Country Motor Inn while traveling from Brisbane to Canberra. It was a last minute booking and we were very pleased with every aspect of the motel and impressed with the warmth and hospitality of the owners. We had a Toyota Prado with roof rack that we were easily able to park right outside our room. Our accommodation was great, having everything we needed for an overnight stay including good tea (Dilmah) and nice biscuits. The bed was comfy, towels were soft and I loved the wooden slat blinds on the main window which were perfect for keeping the room dark. Such a bonus to have a continental breakfast provided and to be able to chat with the owners over a cuppa. At the recommendation of Anthony we had dinner at the pub across the street and were pleased with the menu choices. All in all we couldn't fault anything about our stay and we'd happily stay again.
- JAM-2DAYS (8/5): Comfortable - Across Country Motel is easy to find. We appreciated: being able to park close to room door; comfortable bed; warming air-con. and friendly staff! We didn't use all facilities but good to know they were there. Breakfast room has fair choices and is an opportunity to speak with people.
- R1823LDkarenm (8/5): Short Notice, no trouble - I had to book a last minute trip due to a funeral. Anthony was really helpful and the accommodation was easy to access, clean and very comfortable. Great pub across the road for a fabulous dinner and breakfast was provided.
- R1098GJjohnc (8/5): Nice quiet small motel Dubbo - A friendly and homely motel, comfortable beds and great showers! Also they provide a free continental breakfast, and across the road is the Westside Hotel which does great food. The A/C works well and is quiet as are the ceiling fans.
- Dontcallmekimmy (10/5): Very helpful - Lovely and clean. Free continental breakfast was a bonus. We would stay here again.
We arrived late but Anthony still had a smile on his face and greeted us warmly.
The bed was okay and the showers hot.
- Jan (8/5): Small and Humble - Well they state they are a humble little Motel and that is so. Did the price reflect humble mmmm No. for a small with zero facilities I felt it way over priced.
- MicheleC2988 (10/5): Clean, comfortable, updated room and friendly, helpful staff - Easy stay in a pleasant clean, comfortable, updated room. The manager was friendly and welcoming. The room's facilities are good; the bedding is excellent, the bathroom has been renovated. Restaurants and IGA supermarket are within 5 minutes walk. Overall good value and an enjoyable stay.
- IlkeB_12 (10/5): Affordable Comfort - The room was quiet and clean. No unpleasant smells. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows and doona felt luxurious. I particularly liked the fact that there was no bedspread, just fresh and clean linen. The bathroom was clean and renovated. The new split-system aircon was quiet and kept the room pleasantly warm. I did not have the free breakfast, as I left very early, although the manager kindly offered to open the breakfast bar early for me.
- JenA6012 (10/5): Perfect! - Perfect! I was pleasantly surprised at how well the accommodation was priced compared to the quality of the room and it’s furnishings. The staff were welcoming, warm & friendly. The bed was super comfortable (love crisp white sheets) & the room cosy and spotlessly clean! It Suited my purposes perfectly. The offer of a complimentary continental breakfast was an added bonus.
- olivial335 (10/5): Mates place feels - We used this motel on a stop over whilst on a road trip. Booking and check in was awesome as the reception staff bent over backwards to assist in a down to earth friendly manner. I also praise their recommendations for places to visit. Would highly recommend for people doing the Newell hwy road trip
- jennymL6751BN (10/5): Bravo, Anthony - The Cheris (Tony and Jen) had the trip from hell from Port Augusta SA to Canberra to visit family. We went via the NSW Outback to avoid Victoria and had to go via Dubbo to avoid gallumping goats, marauding mice and some of the most unpleasant Outback towns known to man and beast. When we finally staggered into Dubbo at around 9pm, we were exhausted and had not booked anywhere to stay. A guy at a local takeaway and another guy at a local bottle-o recommended the Across Country Motor Inn. The host, Anthony, greeted us warmly and offered us a free continental breakfast. He also directed us to a palatial room that was clean, elegant and reasonably priced. The extra pillows were much appreciated. The bed was super comfortable and we had a lovely and much-needed sleep. Bravo, Anthony! If we're ever in Dubbo again, we'll be making a beeline to your place.
With warm regards
Jen and Tony x
- 407cristalw (6/5): It’s okay for the price - Stayed 5 nights here. We had urine stained bed linen. No drainage in the shower. Maximum shower was about 2 minutes before it was filled with water. Bed was average, quite hard. Good tv and aircon. No complimentary water bottles in bar fridge. Only one spare blanket, luckily we brought our own pillows and blanket. No signage for door to say we didn’t want our room cleaned. Hard to have a relaxing sleep as there was busy roadworks in Main Street. It’s overpriced for what you receive. BBQ and pool area was full of weeds and you can tell it was not maintained. Would of love to have an outdoor bbq with family but this couldn’t happen. Won’t be staying here again.
- anonymousD5771KW (10/5): Pleasant stay, good value - The location suited us well. Anthony is a friendly and helpful motel owner. Our room was clean and quiet, with everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. We had a delicious evening meal at the club across the road, easy walking distance. It was lovely having breakfast with other travellers. All up, a very enjoyable stay!
- Jennifer1069 (10/5): Across country motel Dubbo - Lovely motel and manager very friendly. Rooms are of a nice size and bathrooms decent . Free breakfast was a big plus. Car parking good. Manager happy to help in any way. Guest laundry has good open hours
- robl145 (10/5): Overnight in transit - Owner was a great help, complimentary breakfast was perfect way to start the day and shower water was hot and whole night was great value. Perfect place for my overnight stop travelling from Brisbane to Adelaide
- dianemW8554FU (10/5): Great motel - Affordable, clean, and quiet location even though right on the highway. Comfy bed. Staff friendly and welcoming. Easy walk to great pub meal. Convenient help yourself continental breakfast included.
Would definitely stay again
- Go435229 (10/5): Overnight stay - Very friendly service. Room very clean, bed super comfortable. Didn't get to have brekky as left very early. Very happy overall. Very reasonable rate. Would definitely stay here again when traveling through Dubbo.
- JaneStanford78 (10/5): Budget room with thoughtful Owner - Excellent stay, hubby booked for our weekend getaway. Bathroom a bit small but that's all we need overnight, there's a bigger one but need to upgrade. Loved Anthony sending us SMS on arrival for the free wifi and peace of mind that we can contact him. Not many hotels do this as we are frequent travelers. Didn't get the chance to use the pool but all good. Definitely coming back on our way back to Adelaide.
- MariekeJanssen (8/5): Clean, spacious room with convenient free breakfast - Very welcoming owners, with friendly and personal check in plus helpful and super friendly text messages upon arrival and departure.
Very spacious, comfortable and well equipped motel room, extremely clean!! We had number 8 ground level.
Breakfast was very nice, basic but everything was there, cereal, toast, juice and tea/coffee.
Room for improvement: maintain the garden around pool but more.
Would stay here again for a stop over.
- SerenaD723 (6/5): Last minute Booking - On transit to Qld this motel appeared with a last minute booking. The reception geeting was really nice. The room was described as deluxe, but wasn't. The room was clean and bed was good. The kitchen section wasn't good, rusted handles on draws, no cleaning products or t towel, no knives and forks one plate. The tiles on the floors were very dangerous with water on them. Only 2 towels and no bath mat. Seriously 2 people need stuff for 2 people. Didn't stay for the Breakfast as the cafe looked less than inviting.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good location close to everything and very quiet. A very warm welcome on arrival and always friendly throughout the stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was comfortable and easy to warm up on a cold day. The free breakfast was welcome.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location.
Didn't like the traffic noise level.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Look somewhere else - Was in Dubbo to attend a funeral. I would not recommend staying here there are much better choices in town for the dollars spent.
Room was old and run down, the sink in the vanity lifted up and was stained. The air conditioner was loud there were marks all over the walls and door. This was mean to be the deluxe twin, you walked into the room straight into a bed. Was dirty and yuk.
Continental breakfast was locked up so wasn't able to access that. Wouldn't stay here again.
- Savannah (10/5): - Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and welcomed to the hotel. An sms welcome message was sent to my phone with the Wifi password which was a nice touch. The room was tidy and clean. The bed was comfortable and it was a quiet area. The bathroom was a little squishy but was sufficient for the price I paid. It also looked like it had had a revamp recently to make it more modern. There were Venetian wooden shutters on the windows and we were worried they might let too much sunlight in but they were fine. The free breakfast was good- three types of bread for toast with a choice of marmalade, vegemite, honey or jam. There were also a few cereals to choose from - weetbix, cornflakes, cocoa pops, rice bubbles and oats. There was also tea, coffee and juice. Check out was easy - dropped a key into the box near reception. Later that day I also received another message from the hotel saying thank you for staying which was really nice. He also informed us that we had left a pillow behind so we were able to retrieve it before we drove home. Overall, for the price we paid, it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.
- Margaret (6/5): - Rooms needed updating, Curtain hanging half off. Staff pleasant enough. TV to small. It was okay for 1 night
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well maintained property - Friendly, welcoming owners & staff, clean, quiet & comfortable room. Recommend the restaurant, good food & service.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Mould in the shower. Very small flat screen TV. Refrigerator was iced up.
- Hollie (10/5): - It was great. Room was nice, bed was comfortable, staff was friendly, and breakfast was great.
- Byron (6/5): Stinky stay - Average room but on arrival I nearly cancelled my booking due to the stink from the bathroom drain in the room. I had to open the room up any way I could and use the bathroom fan to clear it (about an hour). If the bathroom window opened at all this could be easily avoided. Room is dated but also on the cheaper side of the spectrum so to be expected.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unclean , old , in disrepair. Never again. - Mould in the shower. Unclean cups and could not even make a cup of tea. Cobwebs everywhere. Electric heater only provided as air con did not have a heat setting. Old furniture. Bed very uncomfortable. Broken window in the bathroom room which let cold air in all night. Complained nothing changed. Paid over $200 a night for this. Nothing like the pictures. Was worried we would catch some nasty disease as it was so unclean.
- Christine (10/5): Great motel, comfy beds. Perfect for a night stay - This motel was conveniently located close to the zoo where we were going, the room was perfect for a nights stay. The bed was very comfy and the breakie in the morning was good.
- Colin (8/5): - suited My needs, not overpriced. good location. certainly would stay there again
- Amanda (6/5): - When I stayed there was no hot water in my unit.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Found staff and room service/food to be good but room was in not great-air cond was very old and too noisey to use
Broken handle on wardrobe
Mattress on bed was past it
Room was clean but i would not return or recommend this Motel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was great value for money and close to ammenities
- Christopher (8/5): i would stay again - New owners are in the process of improving the premises. My room was recently renovated and well equipped as well as being spacious. Its easy to locate on the main highway south and one block off the East/West Newall Hwy,
Couple of cafes and other shops just around the cornor. Host was very helpful with directions and advice. He was happy to extend check out as I had need of the room to change for a mid day funeral.
It has a pool that would be great in the summertime.
Despite its location near the highways no room noise was experienced.
Breakfast was adequate but i felt the asking prices for basic add on's eg Baked Beans on toast was too expensive. In my way of thinking places are always better off selling 12 add ons @$5 then one at $12
- Verified traveler (6/5): Traffic - the hotel was great and the staff very welcoming, but the position of the hotel next to a busy highway and next to a round-a-bout with constant traffic of cars, buses and trucks breaking to stop at the round-a-bout into the CBD or speeding north onto the highway.
Also people smoking right outside our window was a real put off.
- Rob (8/5): Good average motel - Motel was clean, staff polite and the bathrooms were recently refurbished. Fine motel for a night or two.
- Glenda (10/5): Highly Recommended - The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend to my friends and relative.
- Jake (8/5): Great staff - Great stay, Victor, was very welcoming and friendly .Stayed here a very long time ago and it is now a very different motel .Great job.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small and comfortable room. Staff is very friendly. Has what you need for a short trip
- Laura (4/5): Very average motel - Luckily we only stayed for one night, as part of road trip. The man at the reception was friendly and we were able to check in at 11.30pm. That was about the only positive. The door to our room was so old and thin and the lock so poor that I felt unsafe. there was a large cockroach in our room. There were long hairs in the shower as though it had not been cleaned. The carpet was VERY stained. And the Doona cover didn’t look like it had been cleaned after the last guest. Would not recommended!
- marty (2/5): Wifi didnt work - Wifi didnt work, no toaster or microwave. . .
- Verified traveler (4/5): The best part was the cheap price - The best part was the cheap price. If you're on a budget its probably not too bad. It's one of the cheaper hotels in town. You get what you pay for.
- traveler (6/5): Pleasant staff - A nice welcome but the room was poor and not cleaned on the second day.
- knobs (6/5): - The bed was comfortable and there was cobwebs in the room, the bathroom was a bit small, the television was too small, reception for the television was terrible.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was nice enough. Could do with some maintenance.
- Rita (10/5): Great all over - Good location and service
- Heidi (10/5): Nice location, clean and updated rooms - My partner and I had a lovely time. Nice location, staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was very clean and comforable. Would stay again for sure! Would you recommend A+
- Helen (8/5): Good motel and easy to find on main road - Great comfortable room, bathroom a bit small but otherwise we enjoyed the room and the breakfast that was provided was nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Older style motel, but clean. - An older style motel, it has been done up and the bed is comfortable and room large enough. However the bathroom is small and cramped.
- snouze (6/5): average - Was clean and tidy for its age Bathroom was small noisy a/c and road traffic have stayed at better value property's in Dubbo before and will be using them again.
- cass (6/5): More than adequate stay at Dubbo - This motel is better than previous ones we have stayed at. The room and bathroom are nice, modern and clean, and the air con works very well.
It's a comfortable stay
- Danielle (6/5): Receptionist - The young lady receptionist tried to make us pay $93.00 on arrival after we told we had already paid wotif.com. She stated that wotif reimburse our money which is untrue.
Very hesitant to book again.
- Dianne (2/5): I would not recommend this establishment - Very disappointed old unclean badly in need of a bit of TLC.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointed - Tidy room but certainly not clean, needs major updating whole place old and worn out. Breakfast room was dirty from previous guests eating. Staff were not particularly friendly.
- Jess (8/5): - The room smelt like freshly cleaned carpet. The size of the room was large, spacious and clean. Tea, coffee making facilities available, continental breakfast and free WiFi. Bed was comfortable and the heater kept the room Warm. The room is definitely great value for money. Would stay here again if I'm ever in the area. Friendly helpful staff. I have no complaints at all about this property. Convenient and affordable- (not budget)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location - Very comfortable for a short business stay, well positioned for my needs.
- Mick and Judy (8/5): Very appealing - We were pleasantly surprised, room wasn't too big but very comfortable. Continental breakfast was included, yummo, or you could upgrade to cooked breakfast for a very reasonable charge. Staff was awesome and very helpful.
- Peter (6/5): Comfortable Overnight Stay. - A reasonable place to stay on a long four state driving trip. Near McDonald's where we had breakfast.
- Ray (6/5): Handy to highway, Hotel across road. - Stayed overnight to break the trip. I was leaving before breakfast in the dining room, so reception provided me with continental breakfast to take to my room. Comfortable bed, clean facilities.
- Marc Trovato (10/5): Across Country Motel - Rooms were very well presented and staff friendly and informative on Dubbo's attractions would be happy to recommend the Across Country Motel to others.
- Dianne (8/5): Comfortable stay - Room was clean, tidy, aircondition unit was old and noisy but apart from this it was good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for a nights stay - The motel is pretty standard. The queen bed room is small from other motels I have stayed in. Breakfast is advertised as being included but is served only till 8.30am. We missed out! Overall, the motel was clean but you can get better for the price Across Country is advertised in Dubbo.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Double for the price of a queen - Location is great. Off street parking , bistro meals across the road and breakfast included in the price of the room. Unfortunately the size of the bed was questionable, really wasn't a queen size.
- wiggos (8/5): zoo experience - loved Dubbo, with plenty to do & see. Dubbo Zoo & Dubbo Gaol were highlights.
- Adin (10/5): Convenient Motel in the Centre of Dubbo - Awesome service from the Staff, and the Free breakfast (toast, cereal and coffee). Ample parking for travellers and convenient access to The centre of town.
- Helen (10/5): Why did I choose this motel - There are many motels in Dubbo. I guess it is pot luck, when you have not been there before. Loved that it had free continental breakfast and it was close to Dubbo Zoo and not expensive. The room was neat and tidy and the bed was so comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice sized room, older style A/C. - The staff were pleasant& the room was clean, however the A/C was an older box style unit that was a little to noisy to have running. The location was good as it was close to restaurants & take-away facilities as well as the Western Plains Zoo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location & quiet - Convenience & comfort with little fuss & a basic breakfast.
- Richard (8/5): Convenient and affordable - This motel is good value for money particularly taking into account the included Continental breakfast.
Bed was very comfortable, noisy old wall air cond but it performed well enough - not sure if it would have coped with a very cold night
Convenient windscreen washing bucket and squegee
It was a little disappointing to see a lack of simple housekeeping - front door filthy, old stickers on fridge etc - simple things that take away from having confidence - however an overall positive experience
- De-Arne (6/5): - Convenient location on route from Melbourne to Brisbane. Across the road from an hotel with good quality, tasty meals at reasonable prices. A block or two from a McDonald's if take out is your thing.
- John (6/5): Traveller from Melbourne - Stayed two nights. Hotel in good location but looked and felt tired. Ensuite very small. Overall a bit disappointed for price.
- Renee (6/5): Maintenance required for a comfy stay - Broken toilet, both lamps didn't work, insufficent heater, other guests noisy. Bought to managers attention gave me two globes to fix the lamps, and said he would attend to maintenance when we leave. No discount offered.
- Jocelyn (6/5): Good value motel. - Continental breakfast was part of the tariff, although limited choice only. No fruit, only full cream milk, no multi-grain bread. Good value overall for the room & breakfast. Some office staff didn't have very good English - difficulty finding guests on register of bookings - more experienced staff needed to help.
- Jac (8/5): What you expect for the price - Clean. Staff friendly. Area quiet. Breakfast is basic but as it's a bonus to have it included it's ok. Reverse cycle heater a bit noisy in room. What you expect for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was clean and warm. Included breakfast worked well for us.
