gillian (10/5): - Pros: Beautiful historic mansion, including shared lounges downstairs and on landing. Whisper quiet. Excellent bathroom (but cold floor in winter). Yale lock on door. Lovely park grounds and views. Good food and local wines in restaurant. Couple of minutes drive to town centre. Cons: Was overpriced unless you’re a golfer or lover of history. Checking in was confusing and involved a bit of to and fro in the complex, especially when desk is unattended.

Noticed there is no signage asking people to be mindful that bedrooms are right there and be considerate. Air conditioners weren’t working and when Called for assistance was told they are waiting for them to be repaired and to use electric heaters that absolutely stank Would’ve liked to have seen some books or games in the 3 bedroom apartment Best and most memorable thing was the pillows A+++++++++

Debra (6/5): - A beautiful stately home and well worth a visit. The grounds are gorgeous. As it is a public space I felt a little unsafe when I was alone. The Irish room was very small and despite the lovely bathroom was a little prison like with only having skylight windows. It has heaps of potential to be a sumptuous place but there is little attention to detail and I felt the rooms are in dire need of an upgrade and deep clean. The were open store cupboards that were very dishevelled and I noted that milk and biscuits were left overnight in a room that had been used for a still in meeting the day before. I think the gardeners could teach the housekeepers a lot in terms of pride in presentation of the rooms.

Judith (10/5): Olde worlde charm in great location - Stayed here with my husband. This is our 5th stay and we love the ambience and the olde worlde charm of duntryleague. We always request the dalton room as is huge and has 3 doors which open out to the verandah plus great views of the golf course. Easy walk into orange to visit the shops pubs and restaurants.

Margaret (6/5): - I parked outside the front entrance, unloaded my bag from my vehicle and headed for the front door. The sign indicated that I needed to check in at "The Club". I loaded my bag back into my vehicle and drove around to the Golf Club, where a helpful staff member gave me the key to my room. I then drove back to the front of the building, parked, unloaded my bag, carried it up the two steps to the entry door and entered. I could hear voices in a room some distance from the reception area but there was not a soul to be seen and no lift. I proceeded to drag my bag up the 14 or so steps of the first flight, up the next 7 steps, along the corridor and down another 6 steps to the door of my room! The next morning I went down stairs to the entry foyer and searched for the "cafe style breakfast", finally heading to the Golf Club where I was served. After eating I walked back to the house and on entering the still deserted foyer. encountered another guest, who was having great difficulty coming down the stairs to the first landing with his bag and other items. "I have two broken kneecaps" he said, "and there is no elevator." I took his bag and carried it down to the entry foyer, where I left it for him as he struggled down the 14 stairs to the foyer. I collected my luggage from my room, exited the deserted building , packed it into my vehicle and drove back to the Golf Club Reception and dropped my key over the counter as "Reception doesn't open until 9" and departed.

CHETAN GAMANLAL (4/5): Book only if you have a forgiving wife! - We booked a $159 room expecting a regular experience based on the images provided on hotels.com and the property website. It turned out that the room did not have any windows other than nearly ceiling-height highlight windows. The room was very narrow with no chair/coffee table to eat/drink, hence, we could not order room service. Our morning coffee was had on the bed, staring at the pale walls! I was intrigued by the otherwise attractive heritage property, and upon walking up the stairs, I realised that what was a staircase landing area on the 2nd floor had been converted into a narrow room sold to us on the first floor. The general upkeep of the room was depressing, e.g. the bathroom door frame wood was rotting at the bottom. The staff appeared untrained and of casual demeanour. The cleaning lady pushed open our door at 8 am unasked and without knocking first! Later, as we stepped out of the room at the checkout time of 10 am, she called us out to be cautious of a large bundle of laundry she was kicking down the stairs. Pretty matronly and informal! And perhaps fitting for a minimum wage in a building without a lift! I avoid arguing and complaining on a holiday. At the checkout, I politely mentioned to the reception that they should have provided truthful information and images of the room being sold, and if so, I wouldn't have chosen the room. Unless your wife is as forgiving as mine, avoid!

The guest rooms are clean & functional with original very high ceilings. A pleasant experience staying there over a weekend.

The door was open but there was no one there yet I could hear voices on the kitchen. I called the listed number who directed me back to original place but as it was after 6pm there was no one to. Heck us in or find our room. We had not received any instructions. Eventually we found our room. The house is an amazing place however essentially empty and waiting for restoration. It is just extraordinary that this magnificent house hasn’t been restored to the grandeur it deserves - the rooms though grand had 70’s bathrooms and terrible decor. But it is an amazing house with so much history- far too expensive for the absence of any service. Such a strange situation….

Verified traveler (4/5): - This grand old lady is beautiful to look at and the view over the golf course is amazing. However the rooms are very very tired and the bathrooms even more so. It definitely needs a refurb and although we were advised that the floorboards would creake, we didn't think it would be as bad as it was. It was very disappointing to find that there was no access to the beautiful verandahs. We ate in the restaurant which was like eating in a bowling club cafe. Menu was very poor and the food wasn't much better. It took us an hour and a half to get our entree (wontons straight out of a Coles packet) and we had to ask where our main was about an hour later. The staff were obviously frustrated and the maitre'd had no understanding of how to engage with customers. A very disappointing start to our new year. This lovely building needs a lot of money spent on it to make it one of Orange's premier accommodation places but it needs to have it's own upmarket restaurant and bar.

John (10/5): Wonderful Setting - Set in beautiful gardens It was fantastic. The only drawback for older people is the fact that there is no elevator only stairs. However given the type of property that was not a problem as kind people carried our bags up to our room
Zarko (4/5): - We stayed for two nights (sat, sun) at Orange during the cherry picking season. Orange is just lovely in December and one should make every effort to experience it. As to our accommodation, the promise of the property was great, being a golf club situated in luscious greenery, in a grand old building that has absolutely retained all its charm. So we expected a lot. However, on arrival the disappointment of the room we were offered was just too big and we asked for another one. The initial room (4) simply did not mach the pictures of the rooms on Expedia website, and we objected politely, but patiently and firmly. We were then given another room (3), for the same money, that at first glance would have been more to the standard we expected from the pictures. On the upside it had an excellent position, overlooking the golf course and the greenery from three windows, it had high ceilings, and the bathroom window was receiving the early morning sun. It was quiet, and the bed was king size with a rather good mattress and pillows. However, the room must have been rather dusty, so we both woke up all clogged up. And it was really a pity that the windows frames were so run-down almost falling apart, and the room and the bathroom overall gave the same impression. We could not but mention this later on to the receptionist and they said unfortunately they (the club) had issues with finding renovation moneys...I had one breakfast, it was quite a value for money!

Nicholas (6/5): Usually good. - This was my second stay here, this is the bast place to stay in the area for the price but unfornatly on this stay, the floor waste in the shower was blocked which caused the water to come back up through the floorwaste outside the shower and pour into the room wetting my bag and soaking the carpet. It was late at night so I was unable to contact anyone to change rooms. I had to leave my soggy room early the next morning without a shower and would have expected more than a (thanks for letting us know) from staff when checking out. Bit dissapointed.
alexander (8/5): Golfing weekend. - We had an really relaxing and pleasant stay without a hitch. Everything from breakfast to golfing was agreeable and up to standard. We shall be repeating the experience again soon.
