Guest Reviews
- Robert (4/5): - Nice looking grounds, rustic looking stone cottage
- Verified traveler (8/5): Historic dwelling - The house has been lovingly restored and is well maintained and very attractive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful place to relax - We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful cottage. We will definitely be back, close to the beach and an awesome fire.
Thanks so much guys
- Mitchell H (6/5): Not what we expected - Older cottage. No heat except for wood-burning stove, which is no good for people with respiratory conditions. Electric blanket on bed is nice. Only has washer, no dryer...must hang in sheep pasture (watch where you walk). Lots of millipedes invaded. Beautiful grounds; well kept. Lots of flowers and fruit trees. No wi-fi. Supposedly free in town...never found it. Very quiet.
- Mark (8/5): Nice little cottage - A great place for couples only 1 km from the centre of town
- Peggy (6/5): High price, low value - The website looks amazing, but this is right on the highway -nowhere to walk. We never saw a real person and there was no internet. It was difficult to make plans.
- Keith (8/5): Short stay at Swansea - Very vintage cottage. Many new/ well maintained furnitures and appliances are in the house. Awesome collection of DVDs as well. However, probably due to the age of the apartment, some tiny worms can be found on the floor. Bathtub is one of the best highlights.
- Emma (8/5): Cute little cottage - Lovely little cottage. Nice for a romantic weekend. We found it a bit too far from the town center, 30 min walk. However if you didn't enjoy the wineries as much as us and could drive that'd be fine.
- jacqui (10/5): Fantastic romantic getaway - Absolutely loved every minute of our stay, very romantic and we will be sure to stay again.
photos on this website don't give this cottage justice its beautiful and very clean and tidy.
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful Stay - My Partner and I had a very nice stay , enjoyed the Charmes of the Cottage . Especially the Fire Place and Spa. Loved the Apples on the Trees . Looking forward to our next stay. Bec & Kim.
- jacqui (10/5): Romantic little getaway for two - We were looking for a peaceful, romantic getaway on the coast and this cottage ticked all the boxes! Spa, fire, cottage garden...
Would suggest adding 'finer' wine glasses to the kitchen; it is located in a glorious wine region after all x
- Sandy (10/5): Quaint cottage - A trip back into time but with all necessary mod cons. Close to Swansea which had great shops and cafes especially the Morris shop attached to the foreshore IGA which had absolutely all you needed.
The RSL Bistro provided inexpensive meals but book early. Artifakt cafe good also.
- steph (6/5): Disappointing stay - Nice area, terribly maintained gardens. Dead roses and bushes everywhere and super long lawns. They knew we were having our wedding there and while we weren't expecting immaculate gardens, generaly tidying of the place would have been really appreciated. Trying to get in contact with the owners was near impossible. We had to find a lawn mower and mow lawns ourselves
- TIna (8/5): Beautiful Stone Cottage set in a lovely garden :) - Keefers is the ideal place to stay for couples who are looking for a quiet, laid back holiday. Centrally located in the middle of the East Coast it allows easy access to lots of places. It has a charming laid back character that reflects much of Tasmania itself. It is a lovely place to stay for a couple of days but anything longer, I suggest you bring kitchen basics with you, if you are planning to cook, as we did during our eight day stay...some spices, oil etc.... If you are with Telstra phone coverage is not an issue...anything else is sketchy at best. WiFi is not available and that is a shame, considering the lack of communication. Other than that.... I cannot fault the property and would not hesitate to recommend it :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): A cozy cottage with a beautiful garden - The furniture is a bit worn out and the bed is not too comfortable.
Bright lighting is suggested and the back garden can be better looked after.
- Hobbit (10/5): Wow! The PERFECT place for couples. - We just stayed here for the second time. It was even better than the first - perfect weather, beautiful surroundings (the roses are all in bloom) and ultra comfortable cottage. This place is a gem, and we are going back to celebrate my birthday in 3 months.
Please note - this property is for couples only - 1 bedroom and 1 bed (which is EXTREMELY comfortable, BTW)..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful old heritage building set in fantastic gardens, warm and cosy inside.A great property to unwind and relax.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Humble, historic cottage - My partner and I stayed at Keefers Cottage for three nights and had an enjoyable stay.
The cottage is historic and therefore has a lot of character.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location - The overall experience is good. The cottage is centrally located to places that we would like to visit. The cottage is clean and has most of the facilities. However, the electric blanket is faulty as one side wasn't working. I would also recommend a heater be provided in the bathroom during winter considering the wood burner is situated in the living area.
- andrew (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable accommodation at a very reasonable price. Perfect for a romantic weekend, in front of a roaring fire.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great weekend getaway - Fantastic little cottage. Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Being winter, a Heater in the bathroom would have a nice to have comfort and maybe some kitchen supplies like oil for cooking etc. Overall great experience and we left very pleased. Thank you :)
- KC (10/5): Quaint cosy cottage - The cottage provides a modern comfortable space for a couple, with the décor and garden befitting a historic building. It was perfect to get away for a few days and enjoy these facilities.
- Steve (2/5): Disappointing but owner gave refund - Arrived to find a very damp cottage - initially didn't notice the wrtfloors and walls - by the time we came back it was to late to find somewhere else - wood fire on full bore made some difference - but still damp the next morning - the owner very nicely gave us a full refund - might be nice if the rising damp problem was fixed and it was dry
- Mae (2/5): So Musty it takes your breath away - A very disappointing booking. Although clean the living area and bedroom extremely musty causing respiratory issues.
Owner not available to make contact with. Sent SMS via phone with no response and then followed up by email to which I received an unacceptable response referring me to the booking agency, in this case Wotif or my insurance. As I live less than 2 hours drive why would I take up travel insurance? I had paid 2 nights on booking in good faith but unfortunately did not stay at all due to Asthma problems. Tried to air the room to no avail. Contacted them direct the same day asking for a refund of one night and as per their instructions forwarded my email to Wotif. Both put the problem squarely in my court. They did not have cleaning and could have relisted immediately but chose to keep my payment without any responsibility.
These people should not be in business and word of mouth and other reviews on other sites will certainly damage their reputation.
- Lee (10/5): A beautiful little cottage! - Quiet, well positioned, everything you need including a washing machine and coffee grinder! It was a wonderful couple of days, the surrounding area is magical, we wished we had stayed a week!
- Graeme (10/5): Cosy stone cottage close to beaches, township . - Keefers cottage is cute, cosy and remarkably quiet .We found it clean well equipped for self catering and close to everything . The beaches nearby, only minutes away were amazing .i wouldnt hesitate to stay again
- Anne (10/5): Beautiful cottage - Wonderful ambience and location, very comfortable.
- LB (10/5): Lovely cottage - Keefer's Cottage is a lovely and private cottage for those eager to explore the Freycinet National Park - which is just around the bay. Swansea itself doesn't have a whole lot on offer, but you get the whole cottage to yourself, so it makes for a romantic and relaxing getaway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great cottage and lovely gardens in a rural settin - Historic cottage and very comfortable. Beautiful gardens to sit in. Rural setting but on a main road.
- Jenni (8/5): Quaint cottage with great charact in great locatio - A beautiful stone cottage set in lovely gardens and small orchard to the side. Just outside Swansea Tasmania, it was a wonderful base for exploring the east coast. A very cosy one bedroom cottage with full kitchen and large bathroom.
- Barb (8/5): Beautiful old cottage and very comfy - If it wasn't for the rain and consequent flooding and road closures, the stay would have been very pleasant. The beautiful agapanthus were destroyed by the rain and the front garden was like a pond. Luckily we fou d a mop so we could clean our wet footsteps in the kitchen.
- chrissie (8/5): Secluded hut. - Cute little house on the outskirts of Swansea. Closer to the road than the beach though. Great spa and fireplace and a fabulous dvd collection. Cute gardens offering privacy all round. A great little place.
- Maria (10/5): Charming and comfy - 5 Stars!! - Fantastic stay at Keefers Cottage, beautiful rustic accommodation, lovely & clean, quiet, relaxing spa, gorgeous grounds & gardens. Friendly horse in the paddock next door. Great alternative to noisy hotels. Everything you need & 2 minute drive to town centre. Would stay again without hesitation. Loved it!! Thanks!
- Muzza (4/5): Only thing going for the place is it'd antiquity - Place is certainly old and basic. Drastically over priced for what is provided. Total lack of info about the local area provided
- Cath (10/5): Lovely cottage - The cottage was quaint with beautiful gardens. It was well appointed and a great place to relax
- Anne (8/5): Lovely stone cottage with an extensive garden - We did like this little cottage. I loved the garden which had many rose bushes some of which were blooming as well as many other bushes. The garden needed a little tending but it was still beautiful. I picked a posy from'my' garden for the house. There was an orchard too and many places to sit to enjoy the garden. There was beach to explore within a comfortable walking distance. I did not find the bed really comfortable but my husband did.
We would certainly return to this cosy cottage and lovely garden.
There was no contact with the hotel staff apart from an email describing how to find the key.
- Garret (10/5): Charming Cottage in the Countryside - It was a little tricky to find thanks to GPS trickery (and also not reading instructions properly) however the cottage itself is delightful and well maintained inside and out.
Great place to while away the hours, next to the wood fire (mmm!) while watching the enormous flatscreen. Kitchen facilities were pleasant. Bathroom / toilet has a spa and is perfectly adequate. The bedroom was nice and comfortable.
You will need the wood fire to get going in the winter however it does heat the place admirably. We appreciated the need to think about this in the age of air conditioning and climate control! Makes a nice change...
Great access to Swansea which has a nice restaurant overlooking the bay. Good for accessing the Freycinet also for hiking and the like.
For those NOT with Telstra Mobile, you will have coverage problems. That pretty much sums up a lot of the east coast of Tasmania however.
All in all, charming old cottage slightly out of town (Swansea).
- Norman (10/5): Classic country cottage on the east coast Tasmania - This 1850 refurbished cottage was the perfect base to explore the beautiful east coast of Tasmania. Easy driving to the fabulous Freycinet National Park and adjacent to the lovely villages of Swansea and Bicheno.
- Adrian (8/5): Nice quaint cottage just out of town. - The cottage was very clean and offered a reasonable level of inclusions.
- Ali (6/5): Quaint/Rustic - Quaint/Rustic is more appropriate than luxurious cottage, the cottage should have been dusted and cobwebs removed prior to letting.
- Adrian (10/5): Cute little cottage, well equipped, close to town - My wife and I stayed at this cute little cottage for two nights and loved it. It was well equipped with everything you need to feel like home. The log fire was fantastic and fire wood was well stocked when we arrived. Great for couples looking for a romantic, quiet and cute place to stay on the stunning east coast. Highly recommended.
