Guest Reviews
- Lipscombe (9/5): -
- Veronica (4/5): - The new upgrade and renovation looks amazing. A beautiful job with all the new furnishings and update to the rooms and dining/sitting areas Although Wang the front office manager made every attempt to try to fix the issues raised it still was unsatisfactory that we had limited TV access. The wifi/casting on the TV didn’t work. Also the Netflix access also didn’t work.
Additionally most of the restaurant team and hotel staff seemed frazzled and unsure of what was going on. We had to wait for service and staff were not that friendly. Given the standards of the hotel I would of expected much better service.
- Kerry (10/5): -
- melissa (9/5): -
- Wal (8/5): Noce experience with very helpful staff - Great food and wine advice
comfortable room, but tap, handle fell off and tv needed to be fixed by staff
Great pool table
- Dilu (9/5): It was relaxing holding - Old beauty of the country house
- Norma (10/5): I was so relaxed in the beaitiful surroundings the staff were all amazing and the fine dinning was something to rave abo - The grounds and the gardens are magnificent Everything was clean and comfortable
- Isaak6 (8/5): -
- Claire (5/5): Service was reasonable, and they made an efffort to make up for the issues, the good in restaurant was excellent. Place - Food and service Not clean, hair in shower on arrival to room, paint peeling off walls, drab and dim decor, weeds all over gardens, horse poo on the paths around garden, tennis courts covered in mould and moss and unplayable, beds extremely uncomfortable, cocktails incorrectly made and bar staff blamed me as customer instead of taking accountability

- Marica (10/5): - A great staycation in the Southern Highlands. Lovely staff and beautiful grounds to walk around in.
- Odette (9/5): Superb - I am a repeat customer of Milton Park. I just love this place. So peaceful and rejuvenating. The staff are lovely, thoughtful and helpful.
It was my first time taking breakfast at the Orangerie. Also a lovely experience.
Waking up to the stunning mauve sunrise and lilting sounds of the fountain waters ⛲️ was just delightful.
See you again in future.
- Sylvia (8/5): Beautiful setting on top of a hill. Very large grounds so no near neighbours. Lots of birds and there was the most amazi - A beautiful old home set in magnificent grounds.the staff were incredible. Professional, helpful and friendly. The room I was allocated had wet carpet near windows. Staff were happy for me to move to another room.
Shower over the bath which I find dangerous and can cause a fall.
- Angela (5/5): Passable - Grounds were beautiful staff friendly Very old outdated, wellness centre closed
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- James (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jenny (9/5): We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed the morning walk around the garden. - It is a beautiful setting with an interesting history.
- Sonia (10/5): Exceptional - The grounds were amazing.
Had fun playing tennis.
Enjoyed the polo bar and all other cosy seating areas.
Rooms spacious Saturday night and the bar where the pool table was closed early
- Leopold (8/5): Overall a very relaxing stay certainly worth looking at when you visit the Southern Highlands - The Bar and dining options were excellent..we spent a relaxing few hours in front of the open fire
Breakfast was good value
all staff were very friendly and helpful The rooms are very comfortable however the furnishings are dated. They really need to move into the present and do away with coffee sachets in favour of small pod machines etc
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lana (3/5): Poor -
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Evara2000 (10/5): great vacation - nice seating with the view and good breakfast.
My room was nice comfy like home, I quite enjoy my stay. hope there will be more brighter in the room.
Maybe a table lamp to able to read and write, to protect the eye vision.
- Rob (9/5): Top place - Great facilities, great restaurant
- Danielle (7/5): I would stay there again but would really look forward to enjoying the spa and the pool next year - I liked the food and the wine. I didn’t like that twice in the row now over a period of 2 years the pool and the spa were out of order.
- Henry (5/5): Was OK but not worth the money we paid - Specific facilities were closed and we had not been informed prior (Spa and Gym). Upon checking the person serving us, said all webs sites had been updated which wasn't the case for us. Also the breakfast services was very poor and we had to clean our own table before we could eat and food was cold and stale. The location is great and gardens are beautiful, we also dined in the fine dinning section and found the food to be interesting and different. ( good ingredients etc)
- Fiona (7/5): Ok - Car parking a walk awayand no assistance carrying luggage upstairs as there are no lifts.
- Sue (8/5): Peaceful & relaxing. - Beautiful grounds & architecture. The room & furniture were tired.
- Dr Chris (4/5): - We left after one night of a two night stay because my wife needed medical attention. The hotel made no attempt to enquire about her illness nor made any effort to make some kind of redress or compensation. Parking was almost impossibly and roads around the hotel muddy. Overall an experience not to be repeated!!
- Julie (8/5): Very good - The gardens are amazing
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhys (7/5): Quiet and beautiful but needs some love. Some small things need to be better - Quiet Location, beautiful grounds, large room size, old English charm A little run down, hot breakfast wasn’t hot, couldn’t contact guest services to order room service dinner, room was too hot due to lack of temperature control, plug didn’t fit in the bath drain, hot water ran out, room TVs need to be bigger
- Sharon (4/5): Sadly Disappointing - The whole place is lovely. Gorgeous grounds, good amenities. Wear and tear on the property was a bit letdown. Male staff member checking us in could not be faulted. Very helpful and friendly and well dressed Our room was very noisy, the water heater was very loud and there must have been an air conditioner on the roof or in the wall behind the bed that caused a droning sound behind the bed wall all night. I got very little sleep and had to sleep at the foot of the bed with earplugs in. It was very unpleasant.
The female staff member that checked us out rolled her eyes when she saw me then didn't ask how the stay was and was dressed in a long sleeve tshirt not the nice uniform of gentleman the day before.
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Tania (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): Excellent escape to the country - Everything was wonderful
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant - Open fireplaces Under staffed
- Rhonda (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (8/5): - Milton Park has always been one of my favourite places- needs some love as she is looking tired but still a beautiful old lady!
- Margaret (10/5): Fabulous Hotel & Garden one for your history book. - It's our second stay in six months giving a hint that in our books Milton Park is thoughly splendid.Summer & now Autumn, Im hoping to enjoy all four seasons by walking through this historic garden and staying in Anthony Hordens old East Bowral mansion in a Spring & Winter. The visit this time was a formal dinner & dance soiree in the ballroom located at the bottom of the estate being held on the Friday night of a major wet weather event. The skies cleared but the garden path from the hotel to the function centre was a muddy track more suitable for gumboots & anoraks than evening shoes & faux furs. Crisis averted, General Manager David offered us a lift saving us a bedraggled Ball entry. So thank you David & Milton Park staff, we promise next time to bring our wellies.Catered food was delicious, our room was comfortable and warm, the garden in Autumn is gently impressive and the staff hospitable. Loved the 'Old girl'.
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hall (9/5): Had a lovely stay and would readily return to the facility. - Breakfast was ample and well-cooked.
Restaurant meal was exceptional.
Room was comfortable and spacious.
The birds in the grounds. Heater in the room was too high.
- Tom's (8/5): Pleasant stay in older hotel with charming surrounds - Location & gardens slow service in restauarant
- Cate (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (8/5): Great environment and ambience. . Good value for money - The complimentary bottle of sparlling wine and desert as it was my birthday
The staff were very friendly The orange juice at breakfast was not the 100 per cent juice. I was a bit late so missed out on the scrambled egg and smoked salmon as there was no top up
- Gary (7/5): Amazing buildings and surroundings - Staff friendly and helpful Needs some TLC but we understand that this has commenced
- Susan (9/5): The beautiful surroundings were relaxing and definitely worth a visit. - The beautiful grounds and atmosphere.
- Nick (3/5): We were somewhat disappointed.Lucky our dinner was exceptional and we had room service and great communication when it w - The food It was a bit of a tired place really .Fridge was very small ,room not warm enough and we had to ask reception to turn up the heating as there was no option to do this ourselves .Shower was over the bath and difficult to get into and no slip mat .A main issue for us was lack of help with our luggage .We had to walk a very long way with our bags with no offer of assistance. This would be dreadful for the elderly .
- Elizabeth (9/5): A perfect tranquil escape. - We loved the old world charm and history of the building and estate. It is a beautiful setting and feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Everything we needed was right there. Nothing
- Carol (3/5): Desperately needs renovation, not 5 star, should be rated as a 2, even backpackers may be appalled at the state of the w - It has a good restaurant, nice breakfast as well and is quirky, harking back to a Victorian era, however it is not the advertised 5 star and is in desperate need of renovations, both property and grounds. It does have magnificent old trees. Apparently it has new ownership and is going to be renovated but I was upset that it was a fib that it is 5 star. Run down, paint peeling, threadbare carpets, broken shutters, crazed porcelain in bathroom spa with lid around edges.
- Therese (8/5): Beautiful grounds, and a peaceful escape. - The setting is beautiful and we had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. The resort is a shadow of its former glory, and badly in need of renovation, hence the very reasonable price. I’m glad we saw it pre-renovation and look forward to returning.
- Jill (5/5): Tired and in need of updating. Dining experience was superb. - The meals in the dining room (night time) were the hi-light of the trip. Service; ambience; and menu - absolutely fabulous. Breakfast was also good value and in a nice setting. There was a sense of old-world charm within the property. The property is tired and in desperate need of a complete refurbishment and maintenance program. It was impossible to use the shower and there was a lot of water damage within the bathroom area. The furniture in the sitting room was old, worn out and not at all comfortable. The lighting in the sitting room was very dark. Impossible to read a book.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): Fantastic location - Beautiful rooms and gardens.
Restaurant was 5 star Nil
- matthew (10/5): - An amazing majestic place with fantastic views, gardens and staff were polite and eager to assist with every request.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juliet (3/5): Staff were pleasant not exceptional, grounds idyllic, accommodation horrendous and not worth the 5 star rating or the mo - The grounds and gardens are beautiful The rooms were damp and mouldy to the point that breathing it in set off my asthma. The furniture and carpet was worn beyond acceptability. There was not enough light (no down lights, what lights there were gave a low haze but nothing you could even read with and the bulk heads with a couple lights weren’t working). We stayed 2 nights, the first room had a shower over the bath which didn’t spray into the bath, so much so that they have installed a drain outside the top of the bath ledge to drain the water, I had to lean outside the tub to wash my hair. As a result of this plumbing disaster the silicone has black mould everywhere. The only clean feeling thing was the bed.
Additionally the walls were peeling throughout the main areas, all the furniture in the bars and common areas was also worn like the rooms (with bottom indentations) and ripped fabric.
- Vanessa (5/5): Passable - Beautiful gardens About to be refurbished, so the rooms were very run down, musty smell in rooms. Spa was closed.
- Aaron (5/5): Overpriced. - Good location and restaurant. Rooms smell stale and mouldy and bathrooms are very out of date with mould. No heating available on cold nights.
They advertise a spa and tennis court which do not exist.
- Ray (8/5): - A quite old world estate. Very nice
- Olivia (5/5): Passable - The location was so beautiful! The property is also amazing just run down The cleanliness of the bathroom and room
- Thi (7/5): Good -
- Podgornik (4/5): Disappointing - Some very well trained staff. A pity the place was so understaffed during our stay. Bad service in dining room, left after waiting too long for desert .
Cold eggs at breakfast. Asked for boiked eggs on 2nd morning they arrived floating in a desert bowl, waitress didn't think they had egg cups. Was the chef not in attendance ?
- Warwick (5/5): Passable -
- Yiu (9/5): Beautiful Stay - The gardens were absolutely charming and we loved walking them during our stay. The property is also a bit away from town so you get plenty of privacy and quiet on the grounds.
The team were very friendly and did their best to make our stay comfortable. We also felt very welcome.
The beds were very comfortable and the room clean. The restaurant was incredible - everything was superb! The room was very hot, even with the windows open. The shower was also a little low.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place
- Megan (10/5): Just a lovely old hotel with magnificent gardens and food - Milton Park’s gardens are truly stunning. So stunning they deserve heritage listing.
The staff were gorgeous
The restaurant was wonderful - clever beautifully prepared food and great service.
There was a wedding when we stayed, which looked great but because the venue is so vast, it didn’t disturb us. All of the wonderful things help you overlook the fact that the buildings are in disrepair. The rooms need renovating but I imagine the costs for a venue this size would be huge.
- Sue (5/5): Overpriced - Overpriced and spa was advertised as open on website, it wasnt when we arrived. The grounds...swap this over with the above!
- Rachael (9/5): Superb - The spa was closed which was disappointing
Great location
Parking a bit of an issue
- Graham (9/5): A highlight. - Courteous staff, excellent cuisine, lovely grounds, charm. Chairs in the room were a little too stiff backed.
- Olga (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mark (8/5): - Great hideaway for relaxing but the prices for food and beverages are over the top. Especially when the place needs a good overhaul and it run down.
- Roger (7/5): Good -
- Maggie (8/5): Very good -
- Tamara (8/5): Beautiful old hotel with amazing grounds. - Beautiful gardens and hotel, great breakfast and inner courtyard. However property is in need of a spruce up. It should not be mentioning wellness centre and spa in its advertising because they are both closed probably for several years while renovating.
- Basem (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (7/5): Good -
- Michael (8/5): - This is our 3rd time staying at Milton Park & the restaurant NEVER disappoints. Hats off to the Chef & staff, sublime food. We also loved the bar, ambience & service excellent. The rooms need updating & we were pleased to hear that refurbishment is commencing shortly, much needed. Our check in experience was easy, staff friendly but disappointed that our toilet wasn’t cleaned & we were lacking toilet paper in our room. Rooms are air conditioned but controlled by hotel. Gas wall heater knob crumbled in my hand & leaked. Asked for a bulb to be replaced in bathroom, guy came but then forgot to do it as was also trying to fix faulty TV… Housekeeper fixed TV. Despite all this, we genuinely loved our stay. Horderns Restaurant is 1st class! The grounds of the property are stunning. Looking forward to a return stay, but only when this old beauty is at her best.
- T (5/5): A magnificent property but badly in need of refurbishment. - The gardens are magnificent No information in room re facilities, menu for room service, heating information etc. Also no microwave or any eating utensils, only teacups and saucers and wine glasses; bath and tiles needed renovating as did the carpet in the common areas (some staining)
- Irina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Very relaxing with peaceful and pleasant surroundings.. - Breakfast, restaurant and gardens. Walls were not sound proof. Am looking forward to the renovations and health spa facilities.
Difficult loading luggage. A porter would have been beneficial for older guests.
- Kokou (8/5): Very good - the light was poor, and the view to the beautiful garden wasn't so good because the shutter was not adjustable enough, some not working, but when you go outside, everything is amazing like the pictures and even better. I love it and will definitely visit again.
- Penny (9/5): Charming 'old world' feel in delightful surroundings - wonderful breakfast, delightful room, beautiful garden & loved the pool which we had completely to ourselves pity the spa wasn't available - a massage or facial would have been nice
- Agentz (8/5): One of the grandest places around. - A grand old estate turned into accommodation set in a beautiful country escape atmosphere. The Hordern Restaurant in the great house was exceptional.
The staff were lovely, friendly and professional.
The rooms were a good size and quite comfortable. The grand old dame that the house is does need a bit of lippy and make-up, but she will be undergoing a multi-million $ revamp soon, so I can imagine her reliving her glory days once again.
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Not enough Carpark spaces in main parking area
- Thuy (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (9/5): a pleasant stay - room nicely styled would have prefered double bed no air con a bit of a downer but all in all a pleasant stay meals menu limited and too expensive
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (5/5): Passable -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (8/5): All in all , we enjoyed our stay . - Dinner , room , breakfast . Although staff members were efficient and attentive , it seemed that staff numbers were down .
- Omar (1/5): Disappointed - Location and outdoor scenery Everything on the inside and the poor customer service.
Place was very run down.
Was advertised as 5 stars but facility managers admitted this was not currently the case, but was not updated with the booking sites
- Janis (7/5): regardless of comments we still love to book in to room 104. - Have stayed here many times and the ambience is just great. Bathrooms are starting to look very old and some mould on the ceiling and broken tiles is a little daunting.
- Aeg3012 (9/5): Beautiful property, gorgeous gardens. Fantastic for a weekend get away. - This is our second stay at Milton Park and we really like it. The room was lovely although we did think it had a separate bedroom and living area - which it didn't. We booked our stay with breakfast and this was lovely. The antique furnishings are lovely and the bar and billiards room are great for a pre-dinner relax. The gardens are divine, well worth an afternoon or after dinner stroll (if it's still light). The spa is closed and doesn't look like it's reopening any time soon. I didn't realise this before booking and it doesn't say anything on their website. The rooms and bathrooms are a little dated. Our room had the shower over a spa and it was a little difficult getting in and out safely but it wasn't a showstopper.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- INDREK (8/5): - Create services, beautiful gardens, very good dining. Beautiful building only needs major renovation
- Cindy (6/5): This hotel would have been beautiful years ago but it needs updating and some maintenance. The food was nice and the sta - The staff and service was good. - The gardens aren't maintained like the pics on booking.com.
- The hotel room doesn't have an air-conditioning or fans
- The main building is tired and smelly
