Dean (8/5): Quaint stay - Pleasant old house with large rooms, nicely appointed. However the owners are probably not aware that their complimentary fortified wines were actually just a regular Cab Sav and sweet white wine in the decanters. Lovely spot for a wine on the balcony though.

Mike (10/5): Edwardian Charm - This is our 2nd stay at Kilmarnock House and I've no doubt we will stay there again. If you want a spacioius room with kitchenette facilities this is the place for you. Rooms are beautifully appointed in Edwardian style with lovely antique furniture. Whilst the bathroom is cosy - a small ensuite - the water pressure in the shower is excellent!! There is an electric blanket on gthe bed for those cold Launceston nights. Free off-street parking is available and the House is located within walking distance of the CBD. Whilst the TV screen was small there is complimentary sherry and port available in the upstairs lounge. The House operates on a self-catering basis so it will cost extra if you want your room serviced every day. There is also a guest laundry available for an extra cost.
Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful old home converted to accommodation years ago so a bit dated/tired especially ensuite, modern duvet covers not in keeping with period etc. On arrival greeted by friendly child who opened room accompanied by his mother who appeared not to speak English which was unexpected but not really an issue. Check out was drop a key in the box as pre-paid. Essentially no receptionist if needed.
Verified traveler (2/5): Appauling - This property is very tired and dated. Carpet in need of replacement, or at least a proper steam clean. Facilities as a self-contained apartment were inadequate, one bowl and one spoon not helpful for a family of three to eat a cereal breakfast. Room was very cold and it was a struggle to get warm even making use of all the additional bedding and heater available. The lady manning reception did not speak English, relying on her young son to translate. This is woefully unacceptable. We left this accommodation after one night despite having booked and paid for three. Disappointed that the management would not even consider partial refund. We will not be staying in this accommodation again, and would not recommend it.

A boy of about 12 was interpreting and showed us to our room. Room was spacious enough but not serviced for the four days of our stay and when we needed milk, we actually had to ask for it. Minimum quantity of tea, coffee provided, we supplemented with our own. Off street car parking was appreciated. Location okay but a reasonably lengthy walk to hotel and restaurants. Not a viable undertaking for elderly guests.

Adapted rooms with tiny bathroom.Clean and full of objects. Parking needs were accommodated for by other tenants in the building.
Wendy (10/5): Beautiful older home in immaculate condition - I like staying in old buildings. This one was lovely and better than expected for the price I paid. The room was tastefully decorated and most things seemed good quality e.g. quilt on bed was wool and kitchen things weren't cheap and nasty. Didn't see much of the owners but that was fine. Only sorry there was no breakfast to be had and real coffee in the kitchen space would have been a bonus. However the nearest supermarket was only a short walk away.

Wynne (6/5): Beautiful old house - The room was spacious with a good bed and comfortable armchairs. The bathroom has the shower over the bathtub, which I dislike and which is dangerous for those of us who are getting old. I know that it's a heritage Victorian mansion, but that does not mean that every sentimental Victorian print need be hung on the wall, nor does it mean that every spare surface need be covered with ornamental vases and fake flower arrangements. It would also be more attractive if there were not an ironing board and fan stuffed in a corner by the door. It is a definite plus that free wi-fi is offered. However, I thought it was too expensive for what you received.

Nikki (6/5): - Elegant and gorgeous looking house but dated rooms and amenities. The mattress was hard and the bed a tad tall for clumsy people like me. One of the towels had a weird smell on the first day. The room looks like it hasn't been cleaned properly, dust on a number of places. The sink had separate taps for hot and cold water which was bothersome, and the hot water was scalding hot so be careful.

Heidi (6/5): Phones not answered - Tried to call for hours and hours (10+ calls over a period of 6 hours) to advise of late check in as our flight had been delayed... no answer, fax number out of service and email address didn't work. We eventually found somewhere else to stay as we didn't want to travel for another 2 hours only to discover we had no accommodation. Very disappointing.
Verified traveler (6/5): - This Hotel needs to make sure that they 'man' their phone line during their check in hours, so that they can be contacted directly on the phone with queries, eg. being advised of late check-in, etc. It was very frustrating to have spent 2 hours of my holiday trying to get in touch with them to advise of flight details and no one answering or picking up their phone line. They need to get a phone diversion set-up so that if no one is in the office / reception, the call will divert to a 'manned' mobile phone.
Pants42 (6/5): Great building terrific house but tired - This is a great Launceston landmark historical home purchased two years ago by the current owners who appear to have purchased walk in walk out as everything , including welcome books etc remain in previous owners name. The managers have very little local knowledge ( where is Boags brewery, Que, God rest Manuel,s sole which was 1.5 k away). All tourism brochures are out of date, as is a lot of the decor. carpet torn, moldy parts, broken fridge, faded bed spread that you cant open without moving it from its spot. Maybe this is its charm. To get on balcony to enjoy a glass of whatever you climb through a large window, kitchenette has a great recipe for microwaving eggs and bacon ( we chose not to) Walking distance to city (and Boags) made it a good base for out two nights

It had an old world charm and could have had a history of a 2 story private residence. The staff were welcoming, the room was most comfortable and had everything I needed for my overnight stay. For longer stays there was a microwave and little hideaway kitchenette. The bed was comfortable, ensuite adequate with very h ot water. The room was clean and decorated in the style of yesteryear. On the landing at top of stairs they even provided a decanter of either sherry or port for weary travellers! Well priced and good value.

The staff were very helpful and friendly; one member even helping my husband to carry in the luggage from the car. We stayed in two different rooms: Room 3 and then Room 1. I think we had been "upgraded" on the last night as Room 1 had much more room to actually sit at the little table to eat. The decor was in keeping with the overall theme of the house and was quite pleasing, however in Room 1 the bedspread needed a really good wash. The bathrooms are tiny but complete with everything needed. Not much room to move though. Overall quite satisfactory.
Rob (2/5): Very Poor Service - If you have $155 to spend on a room - go elsewhere. The reception was awful , the room was dusty and unclean. The doorbell rang throughout the night up until 0400am. The gardens were unkempt and weedy. A sad display of a grand old home run without upkeep or pride.
