• Smith (10/5): Clean, comfy accomodation in quiet area with great facilities and great value for money. - Clean, room, comfy bed, nice quiet area. Kitchen equipment good. Especially liked pizza oven. Pool area and gardens nice. Good internet speed. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Wish we'd had more time. Would definitely stay again. Nothing to dislike really.

• Caitlin (7/5): A good budget option for short term visits - It was a good location next to a bus stop. They had a good size room with a fridge/freezer and good air con and hangers. There was a cute dog named Louie. It provided a common room, kitchen, large TV, hammocks, board games, á guitar and keyboards if you play and outdoor seating. Washing machines were only $3 with a clothes line outside. The bathrooms were a little bit uncomfortable because the shower doors were very small (5’5 and my eyes were over the top of the door!) which is not great. The window by the toilet has a gap in it so someone could see in if they wanted too. The kitchen wasn’t ever the cleanest compared to other hostels. The pool was pretty dirty so my friend (who loves the pool!) didn’t even swim in it. It seemed like everyone who was there also worked there so it felt harder to be sociable???

• guy (3/5): Staff didn’t care at all - The guests were super nice to us during our staying , they had a nice pool and a kitchen Pretty close to the bars and beach Had a nice dining area We had to do a late check in ( 18:20 ) staff hours were until 17:00 , the manager didn’t answered until 21:30 , luckily some of the girls staying there helped us with that. The bed squiked and made so much weird noises , the bathrooms doors of cut in half. When we did the check out the manager didn’t even asked us how everything was, and just took the keys . After the check out , we remembered we forgot our keys , we called the manager and he told us he will only check tomorrow 11:00 ( because it was after staff hours) he didn’t even cared , so we are basically stuck with our our car.

• John (10/5): - I had a great stay here. Very good budget private accommodation on the island. Very close to Picnic Bay shops, beach & bus to get around the island. Everything worked well & the cold water in the pool is a godsend in the heat when there is one Stinger Net working on the far side of the island at Horseshoe Bay.
• Charles (9/5): Very good and friendly service in this old but clean guest house. - Spartan breakfast for sure. Good orange juice, but our request online for wholemeal bread was ignored. Or maybe not viewed by the manager. Real coffee would be appreciated, as not even a plunger or percolator was available if you brought your own coffee. Instant coffee does not cut it these days. Brown bread please, real coffee or at least a plunger, as this is hard to carry when travelling by bus. All taps are hard to turn off, need new tap washers. Lose few chairs in the tiny dining area, no room for that many chairs

• Paul (8/5): The locality and accommodation exceeded expectations, a relaxed and rewarding visit. - Room was well presented, clean and comfortable - though compact. Proximity to beaches, pub and local bus service. Relaxed atmosphere of Picnic Bay. Little atmosphere across community areas.
• Philip (8/5): A nice quiet hotel nearby a nice quiet part of Maggie Island. - A nice quiet hotel in Pinic Bay, clean, comfortable bed. Good facilities, didn’t use the kitchen or pool so can’t rate them. Near bars and restaurants and also the beach. But the bars and restaurants do close early, about 9pm. Nothing wrong with the hotel, in my opinion. We did have a power cut during my stay, but lasted an hour. If you are afraid of dogs i wouldn’t recommend as it does bark at you when you leave or approach the hotel.

• Michela (8/5): I would definitely come back. - The property is 2 minutes away from the beach and 1 minute from the bus stop which is perfect if you don’t have a car. The guys that work there were super friendly and Louis, the dog, just lovely. The dorm and the kitchen were not too clean.

The Floor in the room was really dirty and the fridge is in the bedroom. Really strange. Also the ac is on a timer so it goes off after a while. Maybe change the timer to being off during the day and on at night? Because it got really hot

• Feline (5/5): - Günstig, Zimmer war sauber. Mini-Kühlschrank im Zimmer, es gibt einen Ofen. Wenn man sparen möchte, ist es ok. Küche wird nicht gereinigt. Im Bad war ein Duschhahn kaputt, was während unseres Aufenthalts nicht repariert wurde (Wasser lief durchgängig). Etwas heruntergekommen
• Ellen (8/5): Zwar etwas abgelegener, aber dafür schöne Atmosphäre & nah zum Strand - Die Unterkunft liegt etwas abgelegener von den Hauptattraktionen auf Magnetic Island, die eher in Nelly-Bay oder Horseshoe-Bay sind, aber dafür nur 3 Minuten zu Fuß vom Strand entfernt. Der Strand hat sogar ein Stinger-Net, sodass man selbst in der Quallen-Saison schwimmen gehen kann. In der Unterkunft gibt es einen süßen Golden-Retriever, der immer bereit ist für eine kleine Kuschelsession. Die Kühlschränke sind jeweils auf den Zimmern verortet, sodass man seine eigenen Sachen immer in der Nähe hat. Mit der Lage etwas außerhalb ist man auf den öffentlichen Verkehr angewiesen (außer man leiht sich einen Scooter oder Auto aus) und dieser fährt leider nur 1 pro Stunde, weshalb man geplante Aktivitäten gut timen muss. Das Klopapier auf den Toiletten war leider häufig aus.

• Maya (5/5): Man bekommt genau das was man bezahlt: einen günstigen Schlafplatz. - Super Lage, direkt an der Bushaltestelle. Betten bequem. Sehr ruhig. Süßer Hund im Hostel, gehört dem Besitzer. Nicht wirklich Hostel Feeling. Die Damen Toiletten waren ziemlich versteckt. Laut sind nur die Kakadus draußen.

• Barbara (4/5): - Picnic Bay ist eine schöne Lage, nicht weit zum Bus und zum Café und Restaurant. Die Badezimmer waren nicht sauber. Mindestens eine Toilette war jedesmal unbenutzbar und verstopft.

• Julia (3/5): Ich habe mich nicht wohl gefühlt. - Der Betreiber war nett, der Hund war lieb, die Lage war gut. Bei Ankunft waren alle Damen WC‘s verstopft. Es war nicht sauber, Zimmer sehr staubig. Ich war allein in einem 6-7er Zimmer, aber es waren nicht alle Betten frisch, sodass ich lange dachte es ist noch jemand da. Es war für mich gruselig.

• Broos (10/5): Love for the dog - The owner was very nice and helpful. There was a really sweet dog Louie who loved to play in the pool together. The beach was really nearby, we liked getting a coffee and or cake at the coffee place there and then sit at the beach. And we could reach all the destinations we wanted to see with the bus.

Affordability for practical travelers. Not so many space for car parking. The front area is cluttered with rubbish mainly dried withered leaves.

• Tomo.Bono (5/5): It’s ok - The location is excellent. It is close to the bus stop, beach and picnic bay hotel in walking distance (great fish and chips). There was no other accommodation available when I visited so I had no other choice. You’d expect more from $120 per night.

The common areas had everything you need, good sized kitchen and couple couches with a tv and Netflix access. Having a pool and washers&dryers was an awesome plus! The highlight of your stay will definitely be Louie, such a friendly and energetic dog!!
