• Diana (9/5): 1 mal schlafen in einer Victorianischen Villa. - Es ist ein wunderschönes Victorianisches Haus von 1904. Alle kleinen Details sind top. In einem so alten Haus wohnen zu dürfen war super. Tolle Badewanne, tolles Bett. Wir haben uns wie Könige gefühlt. Frühstück sehr lecker und warm. Kleiner Ritikpunkt; Bademantel nicht aus Baumwolle. Wir mussten lange auf das zubereitete Frühstück warten, weil es individuell zubereitet wird. Uns ich habe die Herzlichkeit der Wirtsleute vermisst. Vielleicht, weil sie das Haus aufgeben wollen. Es steht leider zum Verkauf.

The hosts were friendly and efficient in their service and breakfast was yummy. Adding Chromecast to the TV would be a nice touch but the hosts have a selection of DVDs that can be borrowed. Some LED candles did not work but did not detract from the overall experience.

• David (10/5): Putting the x in lux - We had lovely weather driving up. This was an overnight stay for our Great Ocean Rd two day trip. It looked lovely on the pictures, but it is so much better. It is not only luxury accommodation but super clean, swiss level! They pay attention to little things, going the extra mile to, putting the x in lux. Breakfast was great with lovely music and with a lovely view of the garden.

Staying here made our holiday special. - The attention to detail in the restoration of this property and bedrooms quality of finishes - whilst not forgetting about the main thing guests look for - modern comfort - made this a superb place to stay. We loved the drawing room space, outdoor verandahs, lovely garden. The owners are welcoming and made us feel instantly at home. Breakfast was fabulous, cooked options as well as continental, very high quality, served on a quality dinner service and crystal glassware. It is a very classy place to stay and we will be back! Cobden is a smallish fairly unassuming town in Country Vic, but it really is well worth staying here, at Heytesbury House and using the place as a base to explore the local area if you're either doing parts of the great Ocean Road or the volcanic hills and plains. The town also has a great family pub serving traditional hearty meals. nothing - we were totally satisfied with our visit.

• Harlan (10/5): - This former physician’s residence and private hospital has been lovingly and painstakingly restored and renovated to house a bed and breakfast inn. The modernization of the rooms has been done in a way that preserves the original design and period when it was first constructed. We stayed in the Alfred suite - a large bedroom with comfortable king-sized, four-poster canopy bed, and a period replica spiral stair to a small loft - and found it comfortable and pleasant. Hosts were knowledgeable about the history and renovations of the building. My apologies to the hosts for our late arrival - please arrive early to fully appreciate the gardens and grounds a well-maintained English garden with mature hedgerows, flowers and shrubbery. Breakfast was delicious, and several choices were available - better than is sometimes offered in B&Bs. Street parking is plentiful. Cobden location was suitable for a short drive to the Twelve Apostles in the morning, and exploration of the Great Ocean Road.

It felt like being in a museum, but a very clean and comfortable one. We can highly recommend this jewel of an accommodation. Also the food provided for dinner and breakfast was simply excellent. • Serena (10/5): - What I'm going to say is going to be icing on the cake, but I still have to say it! Heytesbury House is THE BEST B&B I've ever been in my life! It beats any five star hotels I've ever stayed at as well. In any appreciative eye, you'll see the efforts and love Kathryn and Andrew put in the place. The design, decoration and maintenance are all done in perfection. This place stands for perfection. No doubt. The house menu they have is a must mention too. It's very thoughtful of them to provide meal options during the Christmas season. We checked there was nothing in Cobden during this time, so we brought sandwiches. We didn't really want to have those sandwiches, so it was music in my ears when Kathryn said 'we have a dinner menu...' It was a brilliant experience having dinner in their dining room! Me and my man we loved Heytesbury House. I can't believe we only paid $236 for the stay and $36 for the Christmas dinner. I wish I live near by, so I could go back more often!

Cobden is within 1hr driving distance of the Great Ocean Rd, Warrnambool and the Otway Ranges, making it a lovely quiet spot to rest. Will definitely be back to try a different room and enjoy the hospitality again!

We had a delicious breakfast served to our elegantly laid table in the beautifully decorated dining room that was filled with beautiful antique furniture. We had the choice of hot or continental breakfast with cafe style cofees. In the evening there's options for light food if you don't want to venture out. Devonshire tea is also available. Recommend this establishment.

• Verified traveler (2/5): - We were UNWELCOME AND BAD-VIBED the moment we arrived with a non-friendly man, maybe he didn't like the colour of my partner's skin because he wasn't even slightly warm when we were smiling and pleasant on arrival. The host however, the next morning really shocked us, Kathryn. She was SO RUDE!! She made my partner so uncomfortable for requesting breakfast at 9.24am when breakfast was between 8 and 9.30am. We were still within time, maybe only just but still within. We asked for it to be brought to our room very kindly (due to insomnia) then it arrived with a bang on the door, followed by a clear, harsh instruction to not do this again the following morning. I barely ate, was so shocked and tossed with the idea of leaving for hours the next day, feeling so wrong being there!! We don't understand when we were so nice and paid so much that we were treated like this. We felt that clearly they didn't want us there, that better we book a new place and when we requested even a part refund we were told we left it too late and charged us FULL price. I think they are too old for the business to deal with a minor request and make you feel small when you do. I would somewhat respect them, had they not taken almost $500 for 2 nights that we barely touched. Very bad experience. Go elsewhere people where service has a smile and treat you like a person not a dollar sign!!!

The room we stayed in was gorgeous and the little side verandah is the perfect spot to sit back and relax , where you can take in the lovely private garden. Kathryn our host has an eye for detail and your every need is catered for. It was a peaceful and relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend staying.

• Guodong (10/5): Indeed luxury - We stayed in the Suite 1 for a night. The room was well maintained and comfortable. Old furniture and house, with electrical candles and wireless charger, a perfect mixture of history and modern lifestyle. Service was also fantanstic. Simply the best I could find around Cobden.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - We received a very cold reception by the owner. Got the feeling we were intruding. We were told to ring a number if we wanted anything. Never saw anybody until the next morning at breakfast.
• David (8/5): Enjoyable - We enjoyed the stay. Our breakfasts were outstanding. Our room was on small side but comfortable. The public areas were generous. Unfortunately Cobden has few facilities and no evening restaurant. Perhaps some thought could go into this situation as in poor weather it would be good to have some “stay at home” option.
