Guest Reviews
- Chris (9/5): Comfortable and convenient - We loved the location, beautiful views out the window
We loved the villa itself - well set out and adequately self contained
We slept soundly on the comfortable bed There were no staff anywhere to explain the facilities etc
It took us several minutes to find the A4 sheet of paper on a window explaining which villa was ours
- Veronique (10/5): I loved the stay at The Gilgara retreat , exactly what I was after for a short few days down south , a weekend away for - An absolute gem , tranquil background , beautiful kept garden , relaxing within 10 minutes off Margaret river I can’t fault anything
- Camilla (10/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Exactlly what I wanted - serene, quiet, like you were the only one around. The apartments are luxurious, embracing nature and natural light. This is my second stay and there will definitely be more!
- Clarissa (9/5): - Amazing stay A bit of town but not a big deal if you're driving.
- Kirsty (9/5): Beautiful affordable space in a great location to explore Margs and Prevelly - We loved the location, the open fire place and the beautiful grounds Nothing
- Mariette (7/5): Lovely property situated in a beautiful area. - Situated in a beautiful area.
The property was clean and well prepared for our arrival. The room was cold. An electric blanket and extra blanket will help with this.
The fire did not heat the living area well.
- Lee-Anne (3/5): - When we arrived had no idea of which room was ours. Just left sign on door. We just went in any room that was available and didn’t see anyone the whole 3 days we were there.
Later they sent a message we were in the wrong room.
Not impressed.
- Claudio (10/5): We really rest - Very calm and silent The location
- Pharren (9/5): -
- Choon Yee (8/5): - What an amazing homestay, the kitchen is fully equipped, nice and clean environment. Housekeeping staff are friendly and helpful. It's a shame that it doesn't come with washing machine.
- Philippa (9/5): Relaxing - Beds are comfy, great lay out of villa and surroundings are gorgeous. Very quiet. Having to carry our luggage to the accomodation as we did not have wheelie suitcases (maybe 50m). A luggage carrier/ trolley would have helped us.
- Habib (9/5): - Great location, peaceful and private environment. Apartments located too far from the parking, Unfortunately jacuzzi wasn't working in our room 😕
- Ian (8/5): Great - Having stayed several times now, please consider replacing the timber box with a cushion with a small sofa. :) Timber box seat

- Kim (10/5): Well Worth it - Such a beautiful quiet location , from the skies to the ground, The main house looks absolutely exquisite and the apartments offer a more modern but still as amazing get away, the open concept is well worth a stay, ill definitely be booking there again :) Honestly cannot think of anything.

Also difficulty getting the tv to work
- Gillian (10/5): -

- O Toole (8/5): Beautiful Quiet Location - Beautiful grounds and very quiet location.
Nice sitting area out doors from apartments facing the trees. A bit away from the centre of town but only a short drive.
Apartments are very comfortable, and everything you need for a few days stay. Very comfortable bed and firm pillows. Nothing

- Dwayne (6/5): Was peaceful and nice relaxing in front of the fireplace - The location was good. Not far from the main town. Not having a fridge in our room. The hot water in the shower wasn't the best
- Brooke (10/5): -
- Cyril (10/5): Brilliant, would hands repeat the experience in the future and suggest to friends and family. - Big, open and one with nature. A real experience to bring you peace and serenity. Could have used some parking closer the location we were staying in, but no one complained about us parking near our accomodation despite signs telling us we couldn’t.
- Anastasija (10/5): - Such a peaceful and serene stay. Loved the layout of the room with the bathtub looking into the atrium and the kitchen having everything we need. Also enjoyed stargazing in the front paddock at night with a cup of tea. Thank you so much
- Jaqui (9/5): Beautiful and luxurious accomodation and so peaceful. - Ideal location Long walk from carpark to room
- JULIE (9/5): Loved it. - Loved it. Wish we could have stayed longer. Loved the whole ambience and peace of the place, and sitting in the garden in the early evening with a glass of wine while watching the parrakeets and kangaroos come to graze was magical. The stars visible in the night sky were quite magical. Our only criticism was that our room (in the homestead) was a little cramped and there was nowhere to put anything. It needed a coffee table or something so you didn’t have to put things on the floor. Even so, It was very well set up in the communal kitchen and lounge areas that you could use as you wished.

- Dennis (8/5): -
- vittoria (10/5): -
- Donaghy (9/5): We loved our stay and would choose to return every time we are back in Margaret River. - It was very peaceful and secluded, perfect getaway. Felt like somewhere we could return at the end of the day and just relax, all the other guests were quiet and respectful with many taking advantage of the outdoor seating and communal lounging areas. It was unique not having to interact with any staff members and made the check-in, check-out process extremely easy Nothing!
- Louise (4/5): Absolutely zero communication from owner other than a text and it was full of all negative stuff. No welcome at all. - The unit lay out maybe. That’s it. Wouldn’t stay here again. Ever. Wasn’t the cleanest. Whole property run down. And no facilities to sit outside but a couple of old plastic chairs under a tree.
- Sam (10/5): -
- Gemma (10/5): -
- Gail (10/5): -
- Felipe Waltrick (8/5): - Very modern The spa wasn’t working but they give me a discount because this problem.
- Abbey (1/5): No effort from staff - Location was good. The smoke alarm went off at midnight, like an ambulance siren in my room. I messaged the staff, no reply, even the day after they could not be bothered to reply. It woke up everyone in the building, my neighbour had to come in and because she was tall enough, had to step on the bedside table and turn off the alarm. The next day, they put a chair outside my door. Is that your solution? For the alarm to go off and for us to precariously turn them off in the middle of the night, balancing on a chair?
They were insects inside my bedroom, the quilt didn't have a cover (, and the toilet was pretty gross. Normally, these kinds of things would not bother me, however given the fact that I could only get an hours of sleep after that alarm, it made me pretty cranky.
- James (9/5): - Close to Margaret River but for enough away to be quiet No parking close to garden view rooms
- vanessa (8/5): Lovely romantic stay - Location and cleanliness Staff seem lovely but could be more organised
- Marschall (6/5): - Birds.
Large open door. No table inside
No TV in living area.
Fridge froze everything
Poor access to unit
- Stephanie (10/5): Stunning accommodation. - The bathtub, the location, not having to interact with staff as the keys were left for us and we never saw anyone. Felt incredibly private. We were so close to everything but felt very secluded. It was beautiful. There was nothing we disliked about it.
- Abhishek 0905 (9/5): -
- Monika (8/5): Gilgara resort apartment - It was clean, comfortable, pretty quiet and in a beautiful location I didn't like the lack of window coverings to keep the early light out as well as the flashing light on the bedroom side that we couldn't work out what it was.
- Apurva (10/5): -
- Andreas (10/5): - Great peace full location. Felt very spacious. A great place to relax. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Perfect location, peaceful, comfortable - N/A happy with everything.
- Ali (10/5): - Beautiful, quiet, idyllic country house. The grounds are beautiful, the kitchen is very well equipped and the rooms were very comfortable and quiet.
- Achim (10/5): Schön, entspannen - Whirlpool-Badewanne, entspannte Lage, Privatsphäre
- Julie (6/5): Elegant house near town - The homestead has a natural elegance and the sitting & dining rooms, veranda and garden were all pleasant and offered an air of calm. Good proximity to Margaret River town - approx 7 mins by car. We were given room 1 in the house - which is the accessible room - although not needed for us. It looked onto a shady courtyard and water tanks.
The kitchen smelt unclean with a grubby dishcloth and limited use.
Road noise at certain times.
Memory foam pillows somewhat firm for a side sleeper.
- michele (9/5): -
- Ingrid (7/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): - Great location, modern and comfortable bed Bring a sleeping mask, there is a lot of natural light and not all windows have blinds!
- Melody (10/5): Perfect - Location was very close to Margaret river town centre but in a beautiful bush setting, we stayed in the apartment and it was spacious, had everything we needed, an amazing spa bath, was the perfect location for a weekend away in a peaceful setting Nothing
- Kieran (10/5): -
- Regina (9/5): great place, and great location and really worth the money - The location and value of money didnt expect it was share room house and no tv in the room, just in common room
- Wenna (10/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Robyn (7/5): - No breakfast provided .. would have liked tea making facilities in our room. Pillows were very hard and uncomfortable.
- Lucinda (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): -
- Kelvin (8/5): A very good place to rest and relax. - Design of the apartment is modern with lots of sunlight and moonlight.
Glad to be able to do some simple cooking with Australian ingredients bought locally. Mould are seen at the wall next to the bath tub which is concerning. Internet connection is intermittent due to its remote location.
Can it a bit cold at night if not for a portable heater.
- Marie (10/5): - The place is absolutely amazing. We had a lovely stay with my parents, who were coming from France. Very easy check in, great facilities, rooms were very comfortable, Maybe there are some noisy neighbours at times, but that’s not on the owner, some people just don’t realise how sound carries.
- Andrew (9/5): - It was wonderful to be surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens - a beautiful little oasis. And yet only 10 minutes drive to the Margaret River township
- Stephen (8/5): - Great quiet out of the way, nice apartment with peaceful views of the grounds Not much the place is kept well enough for its age.
Only complaint would be it was clear our apartment was once a 2 bedroom and the "new wall" the had put up between the two rooms was paper thin you could literally hear your neighbours entire conversation, as the place is very quiet.
- Betania (9/5): - The property is really nice. The gardens are very well kept and the homestead is beautiful. We stayed in one of the separate rooms and it had everything we needed. Spacious, comfortable bed and a wonderful view from the living area. The onsite manager was super friendly and responded quickly when contacted. It is located a very short drive from the high street. The living area has glass windows and views to the beautiful grounds but not a comfortable couch to sit on. There is a day bed which is not comfortable at all and 2 seats. It's not terrible but a nice couch would improve things
- Timothy (5/5): -
- Florence (8/5): Would highly recommend - Serenity n next to wineries
- Kavish (9/5): Awesome place, nice rooms - Room could have been a bit more clean
- Martyn (8/5): Sterile but good value for an overnight stop. - Unusual experience. Plenty of room. Sterile environment reliant on self help. It felt as though we were there for the owner’s convenience rather than our own.
