Guest Reviews
- Ian (9/5): Position A, clean and tidy and very quiet. Perfect place to stay in Tanunda - Absolute position A. Nice and quiet and a huge TV to watch the footy on. Off street parking and good facilities. Being picky, floors are a little noisy
- embt79 (9/5): Great location. Would recommend. - The location was fabulous, and the firepit and grounds were lovely. The house is very spacious. Beds were a little hard/uncomfortable, and linen, etc, were basic.
Overall, though, it is a great place to base yourself when visiting the Barossa.
- Lisa (8/5): Relaxing, warm and comfortable. - Location is fantastic within easy walk to Main Street. Comfortable, massive bed and relaxing spa bath. No undercover car park
- L (8/5): Enjoyable - Soft/dated mattresses.
If advertised as King bed, should be a like-fir-like mattress rather than 2 doubles pushed together
- Philip (9/5): Nice place for a real feel of the Barossa - Spacious and well located. Lots of charm. .
- Sabel (5/5): Always enjoy staying at the Tin House - All good Would be more comfortable with a normal kitchen table and chairs
- Susan (10/5): Great Tanunda get away - The Tin House is a lovely cottage, tucked just behind the Main Street with all you need for a comfortable stay.
- SJHL Holdings PTY LTD (7/5): - The internet was not very good
- Jennifer (10/5): Spacious and clean - The Tin House was delightful. We loved our short stay here. The property was spacious, very clean and well appointed. The garden was beautiful and the outdoor entertaining area was great. A fabulous place to stay!
- Sullytee (8/5): A quirky house with plenty of space, in a gorgeous town - Great location, the bedrooms were huge and having 2 bathrooms to share was fantastic. Having an extra blanket for the cooler weather was great and being able to sit outside in the backyard to eat/have coffee was lovely. Both the kitchen table stools and the stools outside are rock hard to sit on.
- Louise (8/5): - Did not do breakfast. Love the house and beautiful garden. It is also perfectly located for exploring the Barossa It was a very cold night. The fire place did not have enough suitable wood. Also the heating all went in to the one bedroom with the ensuite while the rest of the house remained cold.
- Stephen (3/5): Wont be booking again - Considering other properties located in the same area this property was well below expectations.
- Susan (8/5): A charming Tanunda stay - Loved the fresh roses, milk and juice provided, location to shops and restaurants was most convenient! Rose garden was stunning! The curtains in the kitchen were really tatty. A proper dining table with chairs would have been more comfortable than stools around a high table.
- Wayne (8/5): The house was well presented and located within a short walking distance of the Tanunda township. - There were 2 high tables and bar type chairs in kitchen that were most uncomfortable
- Lisa (7/5): Good -
- Josephine (9/5): Superb - Location perfect, the house and yard were very comfortable. Need more pegs!
- Lynne (8/5): Very good -
- Carole (6/5): Loved the house itself but without working air-conditioning it was unbearably hot. - Lovely house, great location, lots of cooking facilities, clean bathrooms. The air conditioner did not seem to work and it was very, very hot. No fans were provided so we sweltered.
- Troy (10/5): - Comfortable and great location
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Meridith (4/5): Over priced, untidy and disappointing - It was close to the centre of town. It was in a sad state of repair. Inside - the shower head leaked and had to be replaced. The shower over bath is not appropriate for elderly people. There were no seats except tall stools inside, once again no good for anyone over 50 or that has any health issues - back, hip, knee or foot.
Outside- The lawns needed mowing and the garden tidying. The tin table and bench seats, although looking interesting, were either freezing cold to sit on at night or burnt your bum and arms during the day. Once again no back rest for those of us with health issues.
All in all, I was bitterly disappointed as we were there with our parents and friend and it was very expensive. We paid over $2500 for 6 days. My son and his family had another Air BnB in town for a little bit less but it was sooooo much nicer. We ended up spending most of our time there as it was way more comfortable.
- Richard (8/5): Location, location - Location, character, room to move No simple basics like a bit of fruit, bread, bottle of local wine.
Lovely outdoor space but no chairs or sunlounges to use and relax on
- Scottandrhianna (6/5): Great location and garden but overpriced for the furnishings and cleanliness - Great location for Barossa and walking to Tanunda and beautiful garden. Kitchen has a lot of useful cooking Utensils to be able to make a proper meal which is handy for families. Very unclean, particularly on the floors and windows which is a shame as it is run by an agency so they need to be on top of this. The cupboards had the cleaners supplies in them, the wardrobe in the bedroom was broken, the dirty mop and bucket on the patio and there were random clothes in the drawer in the main room. The lack of any chairs to eat a meal was also a bit of a hassle as there are only tall stools. Also be warned the heating is a bit odd as it doesn’t work in some rooms too.
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (8/5): Very good - It's a lovely old home in a great location. The garden is beautiful. The property needs a little TLC and some maintenance.
- Dianne (5/5): Okay overall but wouldn't recommend. - The location was good, 5 minutes walk to the main street of Tanunda.
The fire place in the living room was good. Central heating was too warm in one bedroom and not warm in the other. Not adjustable. The electric blanket only worked on one side of the bed. One side of the bed was too hard and lumpy.
- Adrian (7/5): Great location and beautiful old character property, would recommend and also come back. - Great location, beautiful old character property. Unfortunately we had some issues with the open fire place which struggled to draw well (chimney may just need a good clean).
- Geoff (8/5): Terrific property in a great location. Perfect for a group of friends or family. -
- Kevin (7/5): It was pleasant - It’s location It’s needs a fair bit of maintenance inside and outside.
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathy (6/5): - Property in a great location. Bedrooms were large with quality linen. Extra blankets / quilts would have been appreciated as our visit was in winter
- Stephen (7/5): Pleasant - Na Heating system uneven.. ie. very hot in main bedroom but cool in the rest of the house.
- Mandy (9/5): Superb - Located centrally, a lot within easy walking distance. Beautiful fireplace!
- Joey31 (9/5): This place was our comfortable haven to rest in between winery visits on an extremely hot weekend. - The cooling in the house was amazing on a weekend of extreme heat. There was plenty of room and a lovely garden we would have enjoyed sitting in except for the heat. And only a short walk to the main street with great breakfasts available. A few more tea and coffee staples beyond the basic would have been appreciated.
- Nads (8/5): - Overall was lovely. Gorgeous property & great location. However, the bbq was dirty so we couldn’t use it & the ducted hearing was quite patchy- boiling hot in some rooms & cold in others. Garden was really nice but needed some tlc.
- Brendan (8/5): Great for Family Stays! If you want 5 star though... this is not for you. - Great House was good for our family of 6. We stayed 6 days. Two bathrooms were great and had space for us all to co exist without killing each other! Was a bit dirty in places, but it is an older home so to be expected.
- Samantha (5/5): Disappointing - Location to town Was not value for money
House not equipped very well
Curtains dont cover windows old dirty curtains at patio windows
Garden very untidy could not sit out metal furniture not great on hot day
Very dated property
Blood stain on doona cover !
Wardrobes falling apart
- Clemow (8/5): Very good - Excellent location and beautiful garden. Walking distance to main street. Plenty of space for our group of 5 adults We thought a lower table and dining chairs rather than stools would have been more comfortable in the kitchen/dining area.
- Larissa (7/5): A fabulous location and spacious place to stay with a family. - The size of the house. Comfortable beds and spacious living. Great sized yard and amenities needed like washer and dryer. Some things were a little worn and not working like lights, blinds and windows covered in cobwebs.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Rodney (9/5): Fabuolous adult family accomodation in an amazing location! - beautiful garden, clean, spacious, neat house in a fantastic location. Nothing serious but one cupboard wouldnt stay closed!
- Ingrid (10/5): Relaxing and comfortable. - Perfect location to everything
- Kirsty (8/5): Had a great stay with some fun friends, would come and stay agin! - Walking distance to some great cafes and bars. Open fire was great at night with a glass of red. Great to have two bathrooms for the four of us to get ready in the morning. Loved the little wine cellar surprise. Great to have milk in the fridge ready for the morning cuppa. The air con/heater was very noisy and we had to turn it off which made for two quite chilly evenings.
One of the beds had one leg missing so we had to stack the bible under it
- Tracy (7/5): in need of a realrevamp including nice new furniture and fittings. - location to Tanunda township, great air cond and good working fireplace. good water pressure. very comfortable beds and ample linen and towels. quite tired and in need of a real spruce up. main bathroom shower head was tied on with string and silicone around shower was totally inadequate. furniture was quite ‘secondhand’ in appearance and style. very weird bar style dining table, when there is ample room for a proper table in the allocated space.
- Jenny (7/5): Good - No working dish washer fir the 5 days we were there
- Cathryn (7/5): Lovely old home, a bit expensive but in a great location - Tin house is in a really good location, walking distance to the Main Street. The house was large enough for us and the backyard would be a great area if you’d stayed more than 1 night Not a lot to dislike, although the floors could use a few rugs to warm it up, and a much longer hall runner, it was on the pricey side for 1 night.
- Rosemary (10/5): Pleasant - Spotlessly clean and a very interesting house. Lived the cellar!
- Cassie (7/5): Good -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shari (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (6/5): The area of Tanunda was beautiful and most enjoyable, the house had no atmosphere . - Close to the township , public transport, house was quaint and roses beautiful. Good restaurants. The place was full of flies, uncomfortable kitchen setting,no comfortable outdoor furniture,no instructions to use washing machine, dryer, central heating and cooling, electric blanket switch in main bedroom in an awkward position as bed was placed wrong way and very dirty underneath.no bedside tables or lamps in front bedroom,no mirrors in any of the bedrooms, dryer filter was full of fluff not cleaned, clothes line was broken and wouldn’t wind down (too high),very old pegs and no washing basket to take the clothes out and there was only a bucket which was dirty, barbecue very old and rusty. The whole house inside and out need a lot of TLC and looked old and tired. The house was not welcoming and seemed unloved . Such a shame as the Tin House has so much potential.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, close to local shops and the wider Barossa Valley region. Very cosy home and lovely gardens
- Debra (5/5): Passable - Beds were comfortable
- Desi (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (9/5): Really nice house in a great location for travelling around the Barossa -
- Dion (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Loved it! - The location, size of rooms, and facilities at the property were fabulous. Struggled to get the fireplace going but the central heating worked a treat.
- Tony (10/5): Brilliant- So family friendly and location is tops -
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had the most perfect stay at the Tin House. It fit our group of 3 adults and 2 children perfectly. It was a super chilly weekend when we arrived and the house was so warm and inviting. The heating and fireplace were perfect and the beds were like sleeping on clouds. We loved our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very pleasant home away from home. Well equipped. Lots of old charm character combined with modern amenities. The garden and yard were delightful to wander around in, especially since we were there in the spring. Plenty of room for the family to spread out with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was a bit on the expensive side with our extra people and I'm not sure whether it was because we were staying on a long weekend. Nevertheless it was very enjoyable and it was great being just a short walk from the main strip of Tanunda with lots of lovely shops to browse through. I would stay there again when visiting the Barossa.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, clean and good beds
Excellent communication and very helpful property manager
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked Location
Liked the size
Liked two bathrooms
Didn't like possum/animal in the roof space
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great spot, great communication. We had to switch gas tanks to get hot water
- Darren (10/5): - A magnificent property with modern amenities whilst retaining olde world charm and character.. super close to the Main Street. King bed was super king sized. Overall we were very impressed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable & clean house close to main street. Big rooms, central heating plus open fire. Clean kitchen with all required cooking equipment (which were all clean).
- kerryn (10/5): Comfortable house close to restaurants/wineries - We had a very comfortable stay in the tin house , felt very welcome from the moment we entered - heating on , fireplace ready etc . Walking distance to Main Street of Tanunda with many great restaurants, wineries etc . Loved our stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great cottage - Good location, perfect weekend getaway!
Open fire for winter weekend.
- Wino (10/5): Stop To Smell The Roses - Fabulous stay at Tin House. Spacious, warm, well appointed. Big comfortable king size beds. Plenty of heating options available to keep the cold at bay. Lovely grape vine covered pergola at the rear with BBQ. We had friends come for dinner and we easily sat 8 around the table. Bit short on crockery, platters and glassware sadly (it is wine country after all so I would have expected more wine glasses at the ready!) but we got our friends to bring some from their house so nothing tragic. We found it great being so close to the main street for coffees, restaurants, shopping etc. While we were there for a golf trip (shout out to Tanunda Pines, fantastic golf course in true aussie bush setting, beautiful!!), we made good on our promise to visit as many wineries as possible. Great Barossa produce at every turn meant our fridge was full up to pussy's bow. If you stay at Tin House, you will find a great herb garden at the rear and the most gorgeous rose garden at the front with old fashioned roses that actually SMELL like roses. Truly wonderful stay, thank you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close walk to all shops. Very quiet and peaceful. - Prod - Great house. Lovely bathrooms and courtyard. Well maintained. Clean. Lots of room.
Cons - Blinds in kitchen and loungeroom broken so couldn't open fully. Back door from kitchen to courtyard BBQ area locked and sign saying not to use. Had to walk out front door around to back of house to yse courtyard area.
- Kaleena (8/5): Kalgoorlie family - Cute little house
- Verified traveler (6/5): Lovely house, great location. A few minor issues - Overall loved our stay, the location is excellent, quiet and lovely gardens. Reverse cycle a/c was great although didn't work in one of the bedrooms, rooms are great and the house is one of the best we've stayed in as far as things needed in a b&b. Bed in the master was supposed to be a queen but would only be a double but still comfy. Mozzies were a problem inside at night, 2 mosquito coils burning seemed to fix.
- Starfish (10/5): Birthday treat - great location and cute house very clean, well laid out. Great spa
- Gary (6/5): ok - handy to work
- Craig (10/5): - Facilities: Home away from home; Value: Fantastic, A steal; Service: Good, Friendly, Courteous; Cleanliness: Lovely;
- Steven (8/5): - Facilities: Good; Value: Average price; Service: Good;
