- William (10/5): I would definitely recommend this to friends and would consider staying again in the future. - It was very nice for a cheap stay and the pub meals were great with the happy hour drinks and they have an after hours bar downstairs for later on at night. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Access for parking. I have to lug all my stuff up the stairs to the room and I had to park with hazards lights on to drop off the stuff and then I had to park way up near the beach and walk back to the hotel.

Food was amazing - Lamb Salad + Aubergine thingo - Top notch. Room was clean, fresh towels delivered. No dramas. Thanks again gang, ripper weekend. Loved it all. I thought it was table service in the bistro (I thought it was a restaurant), was looking for a bit of table service flash. No biggie, yet slightly disappointed/anxious my partner would like it... then the fabulous Jason entered our lives. Cutlery, intuitively knew we wanted share plates. Jase was the icing on the table service cake. Anxiety dissolved, we felt welcomed, appreciated and entertained. Class - 10 out of 10 mate.

- Marine (4/5): - Gorgeous building and comfy bed. Room are so dated.. The walls were dirty, seemed to be blood,!!!!!! I had to clean it because my 3yo picked the bed right beside. The paint was falling off, windows need a serious clean. Bathroom were odd and cold as a window slab was missing which made the whole unit very cold.. Freezer needs a serious defrost. And the cleaning staff threw away some food, when you travel with a child, the last thing we want is to have to go back shopping because someone throw away the bread.
- Caylene (5/5): Wouldnt go back for the money paid! - Location was great Bath towels the size of hand towel (no exaggeration) and so thin, once my hair was towelled, it was soaked through and no other towel to use. 6 lights in the room, 2 were decoration (they didnt work) 2 were so poor you couldnt even see yourself and the 2 bedside lights that worked were too small to illuminate the rest of the large room. Broken tiles in Bathrom and plumbing that needs to be upgraded to work effectively in the shower

Not too much of an issue, but there wasn’t a shower curtain so the bathroom floor did get quite wet (sorry!). Towels were provided but even so it was a bit messy (again sorry!)

The staff were excellent - all, including the cleaners in the morning. Location was excellent. We have stayed at the Grand Hotel three times before and have been very happy with it. We stayed in Room 18 for the first time, which had a chair that was wobbly and a side table that had a broken leg - fixing those things would improve the room. I know that access to the different floors is via the stairs, but having which floor the rooms are on in the website would be helpful - the top floor is getting harder as we are getting older.

- Jan (7/5): Comfortable, old world charm. - Beds were VERY comfortable! The place was generally clean and had real old world charm. Windows were pretty grotty, but the rooms were fine. There was a random puddle of water on the floor and the toilet seat was wet. There was a drain smell, think it was from the bathroom, but nothing unbearable. We had the top floor - a lot of stairs to climb with luggage, but worth the trip when we got there!

Paint on walls peeling everywhere. Dirty walls, dirty windows and they were tiny, meant hardly any light during the day, making it difficult to get ready. I get that it’s a pub room but not worth what was paid

- Reay (7/5): I was not expecting The Ritz so I was pleasantly surprised. If the TV worked I would give an 8. - position, balcony, restaurant The television was large but would not work, only two channels 17 and 20 jumping back and forth. I just wanted to lie down and relax for an hour before going out. Bar staff told me to try checking connection cables. I spent 30 minutes switching off and reconnecting all cables but without improvement. The boss (?) shrugged his shoulders. No one came to the room to have a look. A barmaid was was very friendly but admitted her lack of technical knowledge but the attitude of the male bar staff was to simply shrug his shoulders and walk away. He was a large blonde bloke with black painted fingernails. The balcony was very dirty with thick dust on window sill etc. A terrific spot but not welcoming to sit down and enjoy.

- Leigh (10/5): Once again, A great overnight stay. - I have stayed here several times. I love the charm of the public spaces and rooms. If you can get a room with a balcony, even better. The food is always good. The staff are always cheerful. The room rate is very reasonable. I have no complaints.

They didn’t have a microwave so I couldn’t heat up my milk. The bathroom wasn’t that clean there was a lot of hairs left in the draws.

The location was extremely close to the beach, Woolworths and good cafes. I had dinner downstairs in the pub, both my main course and dessert were scrumptious! Dragging up my work devices up the stair's umpteen times. Not sure if there was a lift however, if there was, I didn't know about it.

- SuzeM (9/5): Gorgeous heritage listed venue, a comfortable stay - A comfortable room in a lovely heritage listed building that has loads of character. The staff are lovely and were kind enough to upgrade my room to a larger one with a balcony. The bed (a king) was comfortable, the room well appointed with a bar fridge, kettle, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, aircon, etc. The bathroom was large with good quality shower gel/shampoo/conditioner. I'd definitely stay again! The only parking is street parking, which is metered (2P) so it can be quite costly and you need to move your car (and subsequently pay for the next lot of parking) in order to avoid a fine. There is a parking station across the road from the venue, however it is not the cheapest! Also, if you have trouble with stairs, you may find staying here a challenge as there is no lift and rooms are all upstairs.

- Darren (8/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay. We only required a one night stay close to the city at a reasonable cos - The room was comfortable, clean and located close to the city' restaurants. Parking in the area was a challenge without onsite parking.
