- Keith (10/5): - The sign out front is slightly confusing in that it says something like "Old Priory Camp". But checkin info was right there on a table inside the front door. Stayed in one of the Miners rooms (around the back) again a few seconds to find the access, but clear instructions provided to follow, Very nice rooms. Check out the shower!
- David (8/5): - Great history and has a hogwarts vibe. Kids loved the kitchenette area for game times. Couldn’t get the full experience with the bad weather. Next time!
- Valmai (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay and found the staff helpful, suggesting where we could secure our bicycles overnight in the bike cage. It was an interesting old building and I would have loved some more info on its history. The only down side was that the breakfast muesli was stale
- Kim (8/5): - We stayed in the Miners Room 1. It was really good, I’d stay there again. The bath tub under the shower is weird and probably doesn’t need to be there… The wall between the 2 rooms is brick but sounds like it’s paper so hopefully your neighbours go to sleep the same time as you. The are only teaspoons available so if you take food and you need a knife or fork make sure to take them. I’d definitely stay again though. For the price it’s comfortable.

Half the channels on the TV didn't work, the air con was temperamental, and the shower was like standing in a bucket with curtains. Also found it lacking with simple essentials such as plates and cutlery.

- Tristan (10/5): - My home away from home! I try and visit 2 - 3 times a year. Either solo or with my partner, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The best location in town, yet just off the main drag and quiet. The Priory is a historic gem and a comfortable, friendly and generous place to stay. The shared facilities are kept immaculate and are so numerous that you will feel like they are your own private bathrooms most of the time. The family and staff are wonderful and should be congratulated and thanked for maintaining this treasure of Beechworth!
- Gregory (2/5): Avoid - this is backpacker Nun's habits should have been issued Room was tiny hot and full of bees and wasps! A bed was squeezed in with little else A rip off and not recommended. Very disappointed
- Francisco (4/5): - Firstly, on arrival I was given an envelope with 2 keys for 2 different rooms (3 and 4) when in fact as a solo traveler I only requested one room.Reported immediately to the manager who apologised and told me to stay in Room 3. Secondly, checked my Mastercard and found 2 equal charges of $89.77. First one by Expedia and the second by Hotels.combined a few days later???. Looks like I’ve been double charged for the same transaction. Thirdly, I hope to get a feed back from Hotels.combined soon with a solution as I have already informed Westpac Mastercard about disputing that transaction. - Michael (6/5): - Very basic accommodation. Our room was tiny, without cupboard space, but okay for a single night stay. Shared bathrooms are clean and spacious, but would be frightfully cold in winter. The building, formerly a nun's convent and boarding school, has many curious features from a bygone era.

Make sure you book a room with en-suite as the shared facilities are just… breakfast room could be lovely but it felt like a dark dungeon or a school camp kitchen. Should be listed as hostel style accommodation. Great location and cheap so if all you need is a bed it’s a great.

- Colin (4/5): - Booked as it looked intriguing and from the photos looked nice. Very mistaken, hot with no aircon, bed smelt, shower had mould, couches stained and floors filthy. Gardens really untidy and grass knee high in areas. Probably why we saw a brown snake just after arriving. We tried to cancel the second night but the owner wouldn’t refund. Real shame as Beechworth is such a nice place and there were so many other places we could have stayed.

It was perfectly fine and the the old bath for the bottom of the shower was a lovely touch. There was an old fireplace in the room but not for use. Breakfast was in the priory; very simple cereals and white bread for toast. It was exactly what we needed, a reasonably priced room for one night.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place is a work in progress. Beautiful sprawling convent and grounds in need of some work. Lovely staff, clean rooms and bathrooms. Our room was very small and hot (a West facing nun's cell) with no room for a chair and nowhere to hang clothes. The communal areas were nice and a good place to meet other guests over breakfast. Big verandahs to sit and read or enjoy a cuppa while looking at the big old Plane trees. Very close to the middle of town but in a quiet street.

The Priory looks to be set up for school bus groups. The continenral breakfast offered a choice of Rice Bubbles, Corn Flakes, or oatmeal. No bread for toast was provided. With only 1 communal bathroom it would be chaos with a group in residence. The toilet was down a corridor and two flights of steps, many without a safety edge - not much fun in the middle of the night.

The room was stifling, the beds were hard, the room noisy (old place, and every time someone upstairs moves, it sounds loud downstairs). Shared dormitory bathroom facilities, no fridge in the room and the continental breakfast was low rent. All this for $175 a night. Forget the fancy pictures in the ad, this place is a dump.

My three teenagers and myself stayed up in the dormitory rooms and the beds are a little uncomfortable we had a great time here. The staff are so friendly and helpful and everything is clean. This would be a really fun place to go to with a big group of friends for a weekend to explore Beechworth. I'd recommend it.

The bed in this room was not made, and the bedclothes were lying in a heap next to it. Called the proprietor, who was offsite, and the situation was quickly resolved. Bed time ... summer in Beechworth, and the room was like the Black Hole of Calcutta - no aircon. We hardly slept a wink.

- michelle (10/5): Great old place that historic - New owners have just taken over but already I can see improvements such as wifi. I would recommend this charming old place. There is no TV in bedroom - So you actual have to talk to each other - great idea!!! Breaky included. No complaints at all.
- Geoff (4/5): - We have stayed in the Old Miners Cottage No.1 previously and enjoyed the experience. This time however we found that eighteen large hot water service tanks had been installed beside the two cottages and the plant noise was incessant, operating 24 hours a day. The resultant noise meant you had to completely shut the cottage door, with no fresh air. In addition, the old television needs replacement having a very poor picture. We will not be back, unfortunately.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Old Priory is in good condition - given its age and history - which is why we chose to stay there. Excellent value with comfort. Bathrooms located down the hall were no problem.

- Susan (8/5): - The Old Priory is a rambling old building with a charm about it not found in motels. It would not suit everyone but I enjoyed being there. The shared bathroom facilities were adequate for the number of people there at the time. The room is basic: a bed, chair and small side cupboard. Breakfast was some cereals, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee. There is a TV in the main dining/lounge room. You can leave the car and walk around town. Such a laid-back and relaxed stay!

- Courtney (10/5): Old priory Charm - This hotel was a lovely old place just off what seems like the Main Street if Beechworth. I was put in the parlour what had a queen and 3 single beds it was a big spacious room. The house was beautiful and I throughly enjoyed staying here. It is a shared bathroom however for me this was not a problem. Loved the history and enjoyed my stay :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): A gorgeous step back in time - My friend and I stayed for one night as a stopover but wish we’d planned a longer visit. The Priory is a really special hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly and the location is perfect to just go for a stroll down the Main Street. Will certainly book here again.

- Allan (6/5): Ok for one night - This was an overnight stop on our way to lake Eildon. The premises has an interesting history and that made the stay a bit different to the normal hotel/motel. The bathrooms need renovating or at least some maintenance and if you choose to stay here book the top floor as the floors are wooden and it is very noisy on the bottom level
- paul (8/5): Good value & location, staff pleasant, no hassles. - 2 night stay in miners room, staff pleasant had no issues, air conditioner & ceiling fan great for the hot nights. They just need to clean a bit more thoroughly, cobwebs were everywhere.

- Megan (8/5): A place of history. - If you want creature comforts, this is not the place for you. The rooms and dorms are large and have not really been altered since .... Well, a long time. There is no to in the room, and for that I am thankful. There is a large communal room for tv and for breakfast. Breakfast consists of cereal, toast and juice- you wash your own dishes here. Some may rate this place dusty and old- I took comfort in antiquity - it was like staying at my grandmothers house.
- Cath (8/5): Step back in time in lovely country town. - Character filled, lovely old building. Was upgraded to cottage for no extra charge, as no others in dorm rooms. Ceiling fan in bedroom appreciated as I couldn't get air con to work, hence 3 for facilities, may have be me not sure how to use but discovered too late to alert staff. Hip bath added to charm and table setting on porch to enjoy continental b'fast included in price. Value for money. Charming town with lots to explore around the region as well.
- Jennifer (8/5): Unique character filled accomodation - Convenient location and beautiful building, great value accomodation. Can be a bit noisy, but not too late. My family enjoyed their stay here.
