Guest Reviews
- JL (10/5): Awesome! - Very gracious & personable host & gorgeous fit out. Our host went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. If we go back to Parkes, we will certainly stay here again!
- Mark (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Love the old convents music room.. beautiful and relaxing and breakfast is provided..and just a walk to all the shops and pubs ..
- Mark (8/5): A wonderfully unique place to stay - Our host Colin was excellent!
We had everything we needed and had a lovely night in unique accommodation.
- Lynette (9/5): Perfect place to break our journey - Beautiful old building with character & history. Wonderful huge apartment.
- Fiona (8/5): - Quiet location and close to restaurants. Good breakfast provided to cook yourself.
- Piers (8/5): Quirky - The fact that it’s on old convent and is really stuck in a time warp
The big back top room old , dorm style accomodation
Comfortable bed a step back in time There is nothing to dislike if taken on face value
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Kylie (9/5): Old world charm and atmosphere with the personal touch. - The extra touches made it feel like I was a special guest. The atmosphere was exactly what I expected by staying at an historic building. The art, the furnishings and the full breakfast in the fridge was a pleasant surprise and welcome as I had been on the road all day and to be able to cook myself scrambled eggs and maple bacon on toast and stay in for dinner was really good. The little decanter of Port was also delicious, thank you. all was in order.
- Meloney (9/5): -
- Debra (10/5): - Colin was wonderful. Place was huge and very clean
- Brett (9/5): -
- Robinson (10/5): - Greeted by Colin a wonderful host. Warm and inviting for guests. Full breakfast supplied. Beautiful tall ceilings. Wonderful short stay.
- Warren (10/5): - The ambiance was great
- Glen (8/5): -
- Knox (10/5): - The room was huge, as it is a former dormitory. It has a full kitchen and bathroom. It is furnished with older furniture to suit the building, but is well maintained and comfortable. A great, somewhat quirky, experience.
- Philippe (8/5): - Location, room size. The sofa's are a bit worn out as is the room decor. It's ok but just looking a bit tired.
- Jason (7/5): - The orange trees and the chickens. And the quirkyness of the bathrooms. It was peaceful
With no one around us. That the spa wasn’t working (it was my main reason for booking it)and that it was called a bed and breakfast and although breakfast was supplied, we had to cook and clean up. The room was very dusty and not recently cleaned. The price definitely doesn’t reflect what you get.
- Mark (8/5): - Very large space, a step back in time that was nice.
- Rosemary (9/5): - Loved the unique experience
- Christine (7/5): - Location, history of building, antiques, breakfast supplies, Staircase to apartment. Not enough heating for winter.
- Lyndal (9/5): Superb -
- Pamela (3/5): Poor - Good location, old convent seemed a good heritage place to stay Bed covers & cushions not clean
Only 1 blanket on bed - needed winter specific bedding
Kitchen & bathroom very old
Was expensive for the quality of accommodation
- Terri (10/5): - Very unique property. Was like staying at grandma’s. Very old school, but had everything you need. Plenty of heating, very clean, a cosy bed, Foxtel and they leave you a breakfast to cook for yourself in the fridge.
- Jill (8/5): Lovely old convent accommodation - Lovely quaint room lots of character. Access to room
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Lovely old world charm with spacious and comfortable rooms
- Hal (8/5): Very good - Great to have a large unit to myself.
Colin was always helpful.9
- Martin (8/5): - Good but not as nice as 2 years ago
- Evan (10/5): Wonderful historic old world property - Great ‘old world’ feeling in this charming historic building. Very comfortable and breakfast provided in the fridge really hit the spot with fresh eggs, bacon, and lots of other tasty bits and pieces. EXCELLENT location close to the Main Street, and owners were helpful and very welcoming. Nothing not to like!
- Annette (8/5): Very good - The location.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Love the Building..over 100 yrs old.. Nothing
- Catherine (10/5): Very comfortable & excellent hosts. - We love staying at Old Parkes Convent. Home away from home. Very comfortable & relaxing & hosts makes us feel welcome.
- Paterson (8/5): Character with space and comfort - Spacious characterful suite. Lovely ambience.
Great breakfast provided. Big comfortable bed.
Hot shower Access from car to apartment was awkward.
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Erin (10/5): A romantic, comfortable stay in the heart of town. The perfect place to end our special day. - Loved the beautiful, charming and well looked after accomodation for our wedding night. The staff could not have been more accommodating and the room was excellently prepared and made a wonderful backdrop for my husband’s groomsmen photos. Thank you for having us and letting us use your venue both to stay and to capture our special day. Nothing!
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - Everything.
- Slarkie (10/5): PARKE'S PRIDE - 10 out of 10. Would've really liked another night or two but Abba beat us to it. The owners Col & Judy are very welcoming & chatty....just like a B&B used to be before all this online impersonal check in rubbish came in.
But I digress...our ground floor Music Room apartment was wonderful, having lots & lots & lots of space. Great kitchen (albeit a tad dated) so we dined in (thanks to Woolies - just a short walk away).
The included breakkie is great & too much to eat, so we had takeaway!
Parking was kerbside just outside & next to the Law Courts so seemed very safe.So peaceful at night we slept like babies.
The convent refurb is a credit to Col & Judy - really great.
Highly recommended Everything we experienced was terrific
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the beautiful old building and charm. We stayed in the music room. Walking distance to where we had dinner in the main street. Thanks Colin and Judy.
- Meridith (8/5): Enjoyed our stay. - Great location.
Lovely old building. Carrying cases up the stairs!
- Ben (10/5): The only place to stay in Parkes - Being greeted by Colin, a genuine host. The level of attention that has gone into displaying the accommodation. Leaving.
- Timothy (8/5): character property with lots of space. - old heritage place with lots of character tad cold in the bathroom area due to a large crack in the toilet wall
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (3/5): Below standard - Very basic and minimal. This is very old accommodation which really needs updating. It was difficult to heat and certainly does not deserve the high rating posted
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kennydmac (8/5): Interesting old convent - The gas fire in the living room was an added bonus. The place is looking dated but that said the rooms are in excellent condition. Everything spotlessly clean. Very handy for visiting the Parkes Radio Telescope. The cook-your-own breakfast was great. Not much to do in Parkes on a Sunday night.
- Krista (10/5): Value for money 'step back in time'. - The owners have thought of everything from torches on the bedside tables to complimentary port in the kitchen. There are lots of heaters everywhere and the gas fireplaces are a gorgeous feature.
- Rodney (8/5): - Quaint and charming, Authentic period features and location, you can see the history in the building and area. aircon/gas fire/Electric Blankets are provided and are essential for the cold months of the year (July) in Parkes.
- Sheree (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (8/5): The room was very large and comfortable and the breakfast was hearty and generous -
- Victor (7/5): Good -
- Timothy (8/5): Quirky old apartment full of character - We had a lovely stay in this classic old building. Large rooms and large king size bed. The apartment was huge and kitchen well equipped with everything we needed. Ample breakfast is provided. Dog friendly with yard for them to explore but not off lead. Breakfast is provided but cook/make your own, not a complaint just to be aware of. Parking is on the street but ample right outside the convent. Kitchen and bathroom dated.
- Sharryn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Krista (9/5): Every detail was thought about from torches left by the bedside table to complimentary port. - character and charm and the gas fireplaces. nil
- Camilo (10/5): Amazing get away, greatful for the tranquility. Colin was lovely and we appreciated the hospitality after the drive. - Fantastic historic building, great location, so much character

Owners are lovely and were very welcoming. Dog friendly. Breakfast was supplied with choices of cereal and items in the fridge to prepare a hot breakfast, great selection. Nothing to add.

The bed was super comfortable and the place was spacious and had a relaxed feel. So much better compared to staying at a Motel. The original bathroom is a fair way from the bedroom.
- Mckendrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -

- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -

- Steven (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thankyou Colin for your hospitality. - Unique building with history.
Beautifully appointed.
Wish we could have seen more of it. Nothing at all. The bed was super comfy!!
- Anne (5/5): Wouldn’t stay there again - Spacious Shower over bath - shower curtain dirty
Breakfast was included ? Had to cook it yourself , for $250 I expected it to be a cooked breakfast
Light pulls were dirty
- Jane (9/5): Historic accommodation in a fascinating area. - Friendly and helpful host. Beautiful old property which has been nicely decorated and very comfortable. In fact the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make your stay memorable! Well located, quiet but central and close to many eating options.
We’ll stay again. NA
- Philip (9/5): relaxing and friendly - The location is excellent and the food provided for the self-cooked breakfast was just right the rooms were worm with lovely gas fireplace. Everything verry homely and comfortable that we dident stay two nights
- Melissa (9/5): excellent, v friendly hosts, would highly recommend a stay here for a old world experience ! - the location was superb, v convenient. The host were very accommodating and helpful. Colin is a gem, i had a v heavy suitcase and he helped me take it to my room. V pleasant, beautiful old world accommodation that I love.
Being dog friendly, i will definitely be back with my family including my four legged member. Highly recommended ! nil
- Anonymous (5/5): very comfortable bed with electric blanket. overall value - rates are a bit high, - very quiet no traffic noise nice to have some magazines and books Had impression breakfast was provided which attracted me to book. but it was cook your own. I had limited time so have that a miss. it’s very big apartment but if you close off doors the heating is still effective. At that price I’d expect some upgraded decor.
- Kristina (10/5): we had a loverly night nice and quite loverly gas fire place - bacon and eggs were loverly
- Francis (8/5): - We liked the old world charm, the hospitality of Colin the host, all the utensils and appliances provided, the comfortable furniture and decor, the big desk, the fireplace and the location was quiet but close to the centre of town.
- Toby (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Hoskins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hamey (9/5): Lovely old home that met all our requirements and we could not have asked for more - We cooked our own breakfast at a time that suited us, the selection was very good. Nothing
- Lauren (10/5): - Brilliant place to stay.
- Alan (8/5): I hope I get the opportunity to stay again (for longer this time). - It is a lovely spacious and relaxing place with magnificent gardens. Colin was a very inviting host and the fridge was stocked with an abundance of breakfast supplies. Location can't be better - it was a one block walk to the centre of town. Unfortunately I was in late and left early so I only got to enjoy it for a short time. If you like glossy new digs then this isn't for you, but if you love historic buildings that are clean, spacious, very comfortable and serene then you won't be disappointed
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rodney (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (5/5): Not worth the money! - Central location. Nice thick towels. White sheets. Breakfast provided although you cook it yourself. "The Dish" DVD available to watch. Did not appreciate the change of room to an upstairs, around the back dormitory room for 7 when there was only two of us. The change was excused as family were given our room.
A very small shower with an enormous shower head!
Did not like the overgrown back stairs we had to manoeuvre to get in and out.
Did not like the noises through the night from whatever was loose and banging and flapping in the night.
Did not like being expected to pay $8.00 for a stubbie of beer, one of which was very old and undrinkable!
- Jos (10/5): ask for the brochure.. what you see is what you get ! - A unique period environment !
classic furnishings….extremely comfortable. Colin was a very entertaining and informative host .
Thoroughly recommended property ! unique !
- Francoise (8/5): Very good -
- Joyce (9/5): Superb - Lots of space. Comfortable. Friendly staff. I felt it was expensive.
