Guest Reviews
- Alekhya (5/5): Skip it if you can - The hotel is located a bit further away from the town center, however, it was easy to get to and had plenty of parking. Some facilities such as the WiFi, TV and beds are in dire need of an upgrade.
The towels, though washed, were 'OLD', luckily we brought some of our own.
The breakfast buffet was mediocre, the refills were slow and when we requested for a refill of the pancakes it was rejected initially, which was a little embarrassing and could have been dealt with far better.
A few staff members were rude or uninterested in taking care of the guests.

- Billy (10/5): As expected - Location
- Edgat (5/5): Affordable and nearby shops - Nearby walking distance to the town! Fairly clean Also and computable . Property was a little bit outdated but good enough for people looking for a place that affordable!

- Md (5/5): - I had a disappointing experience during check-in. I arrived around 1:30 PM, but the room was still not ready. I contacted reception, and unfortunately, the manager/owner was not very polite in responding. I mentioned that the booking stated a 2:00 PM check-in time, but I was repeatedly told that the room would only be available once it was ready.
In the end, I received the room after 2:30 PM, which was quite frustrating after a long journey.
On a positive note, the breakfast was decent. Natural view of the pool and yard.

- Alekhya (6/5): The stay was comfortable, though some of the facilities like the bed, TV, Wifi were below par. The supposed free breakfa -
- Alison (8/5): Overall wonderful stay. - Friendly Staff, helpful, wonderful room, clean, tidy, great location close to town. Definitely stay again. Bed was a little uncomfortable (single bed), but no one's bed is better than their own, right!.
- Lijing (8/5): -
- Marlon (10/5): Close to Town, value for money, friendly service staff, love the Breakfast and Ala Carte option. - It was quiet although fully booked, value for money. N/A
- Peter (10/5): -
- Karin (6/5): Very basic accommodation- not feeling like a hotel. Poor breakfast - Location and garden . Smelt like a hospital, Breakfast was super basic- poor -not worth it. Hotel dated feel- needs an update. We thought price was good value as it included breakfast but then it wasn’t it turned out.
- Jaymie (3/5): Wouldn't wasnt money - Breakfast was convient Staff was rude told me it would cost $60 extra for children then charged me double that. Didn't even provide us with towels for the children we paid for. No plug for the bath? Didn't get warned about a wedding happening below was loud till very late at night. Place wasn't very clean long black hairs left in the bathroom. Not good enough considering the price we paid
- Leah (6/5): Tired chalet in need of some love - Staff were friendly, the location to town was good and the continental breakfast was okay. The garden was nice with lots of trees changing colour and many birds to see. The room we stayed in didn't look renovated despite a number of reviews indicating the room were being renovated. Room was fairly spacious, bed was quite uncomfortable and hard in the middle with two twin beds having been put together. The walls were paper thin we could hear every other guest and all the pumps and heater fans, people putting their blinds up etc. the bathroom was very old, the shower was a good size despite the shower curtain but the cupboard in the bathroom was in need of a fix as the door wasn't working properly and hung over the draws and there was no fan in the bathroom to dissipate the steam from the shower. The internet connectivity continually dropped out so not what I would consider high speed internet. The carpet in the hallway was tired and in need of replacement and there were lots of cobwebs with dust in them so they had been there for a while.
- Emily (7/5): Didn’t expect too much for the rate we paid, so we weren’t disappointed. In fact, pretty happy. - The property is dated but charming. It’s on the Main Street but a little out of town. If you have a car this is not a problem. It could definitely do with a spruce up, but all we needed it provided - a comfy bed, warm shower and breakfast.
- Nick (10/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Comfortable stay with bonus cooked breakfast and great location - Quaint and comfortable with bonus breakfast Some wear and tear and Tv didn’t work for us.
- Paula (10/5): Very comfortable in beautiful surroundings will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it. - On arrival made to feel very welcome, our room was ready even though we arrived a little early.
Extremely comfortable room, meals were great and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Not a thing.
- Lachlan (8/5): -
- Anna (4/5): Overall nice place to stay. Communication from certain staff could be improved. - The receptionist and kitchen staff were very welcoming and friendly. Nice pool and good location to Bright Main Street and rail trail. Cleaning staff were very rude and unaccommodating. Water pressure in shower was dismal.
- Adriana (6/5): Value for money, would book a bigger room next time for 4 people. - Location was approx 18min walk to town, so not too bad. The Chef is awesome. Free continental breakfast was a bonus. Grounds and pool are great. Service was super friendly. The one chef/host wears many hats. Makes a great omlette. The standard Family room is super tiny, so book the suites if there are more than 2 people. Bunks are skeaky when you make the smallest moves.

- Guest (8/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): Newly renovated rooms bedrooms bringing a lift to this classic chalet hotel - The newly renovated bedroom at the front of the hotel was good: clean and fresh. Being mid renovations, the common areas were messy and dusty. Electricity would be turned off during the day. The bar area and restaurant were often closed off due to a private coach party - leaving no common areas for other guests. The owners were away so service was not very persona. (However, the one staff member (and chef) was doing an epic job keeping everything running. Bravo, Neil!)
- Ross (6/5): - Great location Friendly staff comfortable bed I received multiple bed bug bites on my face arms and shoulders
- stuart (9/5): Great value option when visiting Bright. - Value, location, cleanliness, friendly staff
- Mathew (10/5): -
- Theresa (8/5): -
- Deborah (6/5): - Room was newly refurbished, clean and tidy
Buffet Breakfast was excellent
Cook very polite and helpful Communication. Had to call to contact anyone (reception not manned) No guest folder or any info in room. Had to go to reception and ring for wifi login. Rooms not serviced unless you speciically asked the cook or rang the owner .
First requested clean was tardy with wet towel left on bed and cups not washed
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Fiona (9/5): - Room was at end of balcony for privacy ...tablecloth on the table each morning. No coffee sachets and milk topped up on day 3
- Joseph (7/5): -
- Jamie (7/5): Old building charm but in need of refurb. - Friendly helpful staff Décor of rooms was outdated and furnishings had seen better days but they were in process of refurbishing rooms.
Found out I am not a fan of Loft rooms.
- Tracey (7/5): -
- Tania (1/5): -
- David (7/5): - Breakfast included is a bonus, nice walk into town, staff are friendly chef in particular front desk not often attended. Room could have been vacuumed each day when serviced stayed in ground floor was nice and quiet
- Dmitri (3/5): Negative - NA The accommodation was disappointing due to a persistent unpleasant smell and a non-working air-conditioning unit. When this was reported, we were given a key to a replacement room that was still occupied by other guests, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Considering the price, it was not good value for money.
- Barbara (8/5): Perfect stay - Location close to town & the unit was clean
Staff friendly
- Rahni (6/5): Different but met our needs. - I booked this very last minute - in the morning for that night. I didn’t look at details or anything and just picked the first place that came up, so I didn’t know what to expect. The location is good. The building is pretty cool. Fairly nice staff. Good pool area and the gardens are nice. Breakfast was good - not a hot breakfast- but handy not having to go out for brekky. The bedroom was very small and super old fashioned, but it was fine to just sleep there. It had aircon. There was a tv but no remote so we couldn’t watch it. It was hard to lock the doors to the balcony and the rooms don’t have dividers between them on the balcony, so you can walk all the way down past everyone’s room. Very old. Could use some new furniture - chairs etc. They play loud music from around 6.30am.
- Guest (10/5): Excellent accommodation and breakfast - Everything, particularly the staff who are exceptional. Nothing.
- Dhana (1/5): Extremely disappointed, unhygienic and poor facility - Nothing stood out. Apart from a couple of restaurant staff that were polite. Really old property with worn out carpets, broken doors, leaking aircon and poor amenities. The property absolutely need to be investigated by the council for cleanliness and user safety. The aircon was leaking all night. The linen had blood stains in it and even after reporting to the receptionist they did not remove it.
- Yeodi (7/5): It was definitely good value for money! - We loved the included buffet breakfast, and the swimming pool was a nice addition. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a bit dated so if you are looking for a spot clean place, probably not the right option. We could hear other guests through thin walls. Also, not the property's fault, but we had a very noisy group of people at late night (around 11pm-midnight) talking loud in the corridor and slamming doors. It was just not a pleasant thing to experience. I guess there was no one from the management on site to control the situation at that time.
- Amber (5/5): Great for a place to sleep whilst enjoying Bright. - Affordable sufficient accommodation for enjoying the location. Bathroom was renovated and clean. The hotel facilities need some upgrading and maintenance. Doors broken and areas run down.
- Adrian (1/5): Our holiday in Bright was fantastic. The accommodation and experience was the first and last time we will stay at this p - The location in the township of Bright is good. The chalet has a lot of potential. Disappointed with the family rooms both quality and size of the rooms did not cater for a family of four.
The facilities and Hotel in general has been rundown with zero maintenance performed
The building structurally probably isn’t sound with a lot of white ant damage and water leaks throughout as well as mould through bathrooms and the air-conditioning unit which should probably never been serviced
TVs in rooms didn’t work and air-conditioning had a pretty yucky smell coming from it when we tried to operate
Hotel management did not exist very poor customer service and any form of business structure or management of hotels
- Siew Pheng (7/5): Cozy and simple - Close to town center. Room was not cleaned but service sorted it out within a few hours
- Gavin (9/5): -
- Marissa (5/5): Needs a good refresh and repairs. Come with low expectations. Staff very friendly though. - Staff were very friendly The family room was very run down. Only one ripped 2 seater couch, (room sleeps 6) one fan didn’t work at all so was very hot upstairs. Bathroom very tired, no tea at all and the milk was used. There is only cups and glasses no other kitchenware.
Sliding door to balcony was locked open so couldn’t close properly.
Understand this is an old property but the price doesn’t align with the standard in my opinion.
- Suraj (10/5): -
- Mick (3/5): Not the best - Garden was nice Over priced for the quality, room was run-down had a dodgy renovation in bathroom
- Hitesh (8/5): -
- Geraldine (7/5): Cozy chalet stay in Bright - Lovely couple hosting the chalet, amazing breakfast in the morning, nice pool area and beautiful garden, situated in a perfect location to reach Bright by foot and all the surrounding activity places by car. They were renovating a room in the hotel and it was impossible to stay in our room with all the noise. There was no heads up about the noise or any acknowledgement from the owners about the disturbance.
- Yasodha (2/5): Terrible stay - It was a terrible stay. Nothing good to be honest and will not go back or recommend this place to others. Breakfast was bad. Only toast and cereal. No eggs, oats, ham/bacon or proteins. Not sure why it's called a continental breakfast.
We stayed in room 117 and the bathroom door couldn't be closed properly, although it was informed, was never taken any action.
Shower cubicle has a gap and the water kept overflowing the bathroom.
Bathroom heater malfunctioned.
We stayed for 2 nights and room service didn't clean the room or change towels although requested.
Electric kettle had a big stain at the bottom and was rusted. The rust came off when we boiled water with it and only noticed after a day. It was a health hazard as we gave warm water to our kids too.
There is absolutelt no service at the reception/front desk. You have to go through to the kitchen and back pf the building if you need any assistance. It was an absolute nightmare.
- Alice (10/5): Wonderful chalet, incredibly welcoming and hospitable staff - The Chef that works at the Bright Chalet treated us with incredible hospitality and kindness. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome
- Dave (7/5): - Construction noise of new rooms opposite us Monday morning
- Andrea (8/5): Lovely place - Staff were great. Food was great. Scenery was magnificent Beds were too soft and we both got backache
- Alisha (8/5): - the beds, location and layout of the rooms There was vomit smell on the couch. wasn't cleaned
- Bailey (10/5): -
- Olena (8/5): -
- Brian (8/5): - Breakfast was good and the outlook from the dinning room is very pleasant for a quiet morning start. two single beds pushed together and made up as a double is not the most comfortable option but it was pretty good.
- Brian (8/5): -
- Diane (8/5): -
- Susan (3/5): Would not stay again - Location Fridge had left over food in it from previous people
Bathroom had people from before us face washers hanging over shower rail.
Breakfast over priced for what it is. No eggs Bacon
$30 u get Toast, cereal tea coffee fruit juice cheaper t go down the street t get breakfast leave breakfast out

- Guest (8/5): Convenient property for a quick holiday away offering restaurant facilities and outdoor pool and social area. - Friendly chef and breakfast both hot and continental available.
Housemaids were lovely and efficient.
Quiet location with a short stroll into town. Room was in need of a little updating however were clean and comfortable
- Bella (9/5): - Super friendly and approachable staff, they were always up for a chat. N/A
- Glen (10/5): - Great place and service!
- Maureen (1/5): Do not stay at this place - Location Unfortunately others staying at the hotel and the manager rude. Couldn't even bother coming and speaking to us about the noise level and people cooking curry food in the room which made my room unbearable, never mind illegal. No cooking facilities in the room. I guess the family brought in there own hot plate. If this happened at a reasonable time I could have overlooked it, but at 10.30pm to 1.amis just ridiculous.
I wonder if this is the same family that the manager was speaking to on the phone when we arrived. He was rude and very unprofessional towards the caller and then us. The room was ordinary and I would never use again.
I would not recommend this place to anybody.
- Eileen (3/5): Basic facilities but poor management - The location was within walking distance to the town & the breakfast and check-in staff were genuinely kind and welcoming with plenty of options available in the continental breakfast included in the room rate. (1) The night manager who ruined our stay with his unprofessional behaviour and aggressive manner. On our second evening approx 730pm, the night manager knocked on our door claiming we hadn’t paid for our children, despite our Booking.com receipt showing otherwise. We were told to pay an extra $120 or leave, which was very upsetting, especially with tired children late at night.
The situation was handled very poorly, and we felt insulted and disrespected. We don’t usually leave negative reviews, but the manager completely spoiled our trip (2) Secondly the pool was unusable due to grime and algae - not something you’d expect at a family-friendly property. There are plenty of other options nearby including properties with well maintained swimming pools and other amenities. I would recommend staying anywhere else.
- maximillian (8/5): - Friendly staff. Very clean. The bed was not made properly.. I needed to get up during the night too pull the sheets out, so we could get the blanket high enough to cover ourselves.

- Roni (7/5): Breakfast staff are attentive, considerate and hard working. If all staff were at the same level, this lovely chalet wou - Can’t beat the location and convenience of the ski / chain hire shop right there. The continental breakfast is handy, and I appreciate them allowing me to grab earlier brekky at 7AM (makes it easier to get up the mountain) but official breakfast time is still too late (7:30AM) The room had minor PM issues which we discovered over the course of staying 2 nights - not show stoppers, but makes you feel you are not getting your moneys worth.
hole in drywall,
leaking shower spray,
broken shelf in fridge
TV not working
WiFi not working
These should be reason to offer a discount or at least an apology at time of check in

- Talisa (6/5): - The staff being attentive Mould, missing shower curtain, missing towels, until I asked and it was given. Missing TV remote left room 4 that I was given originally, moved to room 5 missing hair-dryer, restaurant was not available due to having school kids
- Mariah (8/5): - Free breakfast
Close to town
Comfortable bed
Modern bathroom
Lovely staff
- Kate (9/5): nice and convenient - Nice comfortable room, clean. The free breakfast was great! Convenient location to spend the days up at Mt Hotham
- Vernice Lee (10/5): - We loved the convenience, breakfast was great and it was attached to a ski shop with very knowledgeable staff
- GEORGE (9/5): -
- Rodney (7/5): -
- Vanessa (9/5): Bright Chalet - The staff were amazing! Especially Amy, who went above and beyond for us when the TV couldn't get picture. She arranged a new TV for the room. Also a shout out the the man who came up and installed the TV in the evening. The gent who serves the breakfast shift is a real hoot and brightened our mornings. Only real downside was the WiFi was not working.

- svend (10/5): Good location. Great breakfast included . Free off street parking - Good location. Great breakfast included . Free off street parking
- Guest (9/5): - no wifi for the whole stay :(
- Paul (6/5): Would happily visit again - Location and great staff Restaurant closed property need a a bit of love
- Aleisha Hutchinson (6/5): - Great location and close to the CBD
Ski hire shop right next door who are very friendly and helpful
Beds and bedding comfortable - check in was running 2 hours behind so when we arrived to check in we were told to come back (which I understand things happen, but would have appreciated a phone call)
- we booked a family room and unfortunately there was only a small 2 seater couch so our kids had no where to sit.
- we had no teaspoons to make coffee on the first night and then when house keeping cleaned on the 2nd day we weren't given another garbage bag to put rubbish in. The dish cloth was also mouldy, not sure how old it was.
- feel as if it is overpriced especially with these little issues.
- Daniel (8/5): Nice accomodation for exploring the nearby valleys and ski mountains! - Cosy chalet/lodge accommodation with restaurant/breakfast room. Ski equipment hire next door. N/A
- Raelene (8/5): - Convenient location, rooms were very comfortable - staff were exceptionally friendly Lack of allocated parking
