Guest Reviews
- Lucille (4/5): - The second I opened the door, I was confronted with the stench of stale cigarette smoke. As a lung transplant recipient, that was the last thing I wanted to encounter!! Thank God I was carrying deodoriser! Was given a map & told where to go. I stayed out of necessity but will never book here again and I'll be sharing my experiences
- Mary (6/5): - Cabin was clean, & we were warm & comfortable.
A few things needed maintenance.
- Jenny (8/5): - Cabin was very basic. A comfy chair or couch would improve it
- Fiona (8/5): - All was excellent and will recommend
- Meagan (10/5): - The welcome we received upon arrival was second to none in terms of making us feel right at home, and the cabin itself was ideal. Comfortable, cozy, and equipped with everything we needed for an enjoyable and peaceful overnight stay. Would definitely like to stay longer next time.
- Lisa (8/5): - .
- Michael (10/5): - It’s proximity to everything quiet and well setup
- Rose (10/5): - Great location, staff great, perfect
- Wendy (10/5): - Very quiet and really really clean, can recommend this place... thankyou
- Joslyn (8/5): - We found the cabin to be clean and quiet and suited our purposes exactly.
- Fernando (8/5): - Facility was adequate but a little outdated, overall ok for a couple of nights
- Ecaterina (8/5): Budget friendly - Very close to Spirit of Tasmania port. Clean easy late check in. Informative.
- Melissa (6/5): - If you’re staying in your own van I expect that this property would be fine as the sites looked quite big, however the unit we stayed in was very old and in desperate need of updating. All facilities in the cabin were at least 40yrs old (with the exception of the bed and linen, 2 seat dining table and 2 single chairs), and are in the same standard as is reflected by the age. Doors are showing signs of rot at the base and there is evidence of leaking on the shower ceiling. The kitchenette was of a minimal standard (a plug in 2 burner stove was provided), was riddled with ants despite no food being left out (there is a warning sign and ant spray provided so this is not new).
For 2 people (and a 2 night stay) we were provided some mini milk containers, 2 towels and a floor mat for the bathroom and 2 slabs of soap, there was no face washer or mini shampoo/conditioner or no hairdryer which really are the minimum toiletries supplied since about 2005. Additional pillows and a blanket was supplied also. The exterior sliding door to our unit did not align with the frame and did not lock properly which really should be rectified. It is a park full of permanent residents which, if you travel frequently, will confirm my comments above. On a positive note, the park was very quiet at night and the lady at reception was very welcoming and if you are in need of mid-cost accommodation ($250 for 2 people for 2 nights) and don’t mind the above, this park will suit your needs.
- Jennifer (8/5): - cabin was good for a nights stay, close to where we had to catch the spirit of tasmania.
- Jenni (10/5): - Our cabin had the most comfy mattress we’ve ever slept on. The cabin was modern, clean and well equipped. The location is so handy to the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry terminal.
- Karen (8/5): - It was fine as we were only there for 1 night
- Robert (8/5): - A very comfortable bed (did not want to get up), facilities were good and staff were very obliging.
- Kate (8/5): - Easy access to great walks and also public transport. Cabin was very clean but basis.
- Carol (10/5): - 😊
- Mary (6/5): - The cabin was so hot of an afternoon it needs external blinds or awnings to protect the cabin from the hot afternoon sun. It was cooler to sit outside.
- Alex (8/5): - A small A/C Unit would of been OK!
- Weiqiang Wu (8/5): - All good
- JANE (8/5): - Close location to the mainland ferry service. Easy to find. Good children's playground.
- Maya (10/5): - Nice cabin, fully equipped kitchen, easy to find, close to the city centre. Value for money!
- Christopher (10/5): - A beautiful clean cottage. Staff really helpful and lovely. Wonderful view of the beach.
- Lorna (6/5): - Lovely position near the sea. Could hear the waves at night time.
The cabin was basic. The queen bed very comfortable.
There were a few things that require attention eg.
The shower head wouldn't stay up.
The sink plug was too small and the water ran out before the washing up was finished.
The main light was not working.
At least one power point was not working.
Would stay there again, however.
- Lavinia (8/5): - Perfectly positioned for arrival off the Spirit of Tasmania. Literally just a few minutes from the terminal. We arrived after check in time and had advised we were coming off the boat so an envelope was left on the reception door. Our cabin was easy to find with parking right outside. The cabin was a reasonable size, bed comfortable and water hot. The kitchen was well appointed and WiFi was good. It is a short drive to the IGA for supplies and a short walk to the water. You can watch the Spirit coming in. We would certainly stay again.
- Peter (6/5): - Quiet
- Brent (6/5): - Yapping small dogs. Basic but OK.
- Heather (8/5): - Clean cabin & quite
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing - Was allocated a cabin which did not fit the description of what we had booked and paid for (and was 5 meters away from an adjacent public toilet block). Complained to reception and was told that nothing could be done as they were fuly booked. I asked to cancel and refund in order to find another motel, then a vacant cabin miraculously became available. This was marginally better. but not worth half of what we paid...very disappointing. Overall the park was very run down and most of the facilities in poor order.
- Greg (8/5): - TV was not working properly
- John (8/5): - Nil
- Kathy (10/5): - The most comfy bed. View out of windows to water.
On arrival we had a very pleasant check in, with very friendly owners.
- Robert (10/5): - Simple, very clean, warm.
- Eric (10/5): - Nice and peaceful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and peaceful
- Kimbra (8/5): - Comfortable and clean easy access, would recommend.
- Rod (8/5): - Strange smell from somewhere, perhaps sewerage, otherwise reasonable for what we paid for.
- Donald (10/5): - The property was very well kept, the bed comfortable and parking right outside the door.
- Ronda (8/5): - The cabin was very clean, we had late checkin because the spirit was late getting in. Not a problem.
- Marilyn (10/5): - As we came in early and were travelling on motorbikes, the reception staff was happy to hold some of our bags till the afternoon when we could check in. Our cabin was lovely, clean and well equipped. Really enjoyed our stay. Would go back
- Jack (10/5): - Staff very good when asked questions about area and excellent when asked things out of the ordinary
- Athol (8/5): - The cabin was near new or in excellent condition with lots of power points and a roomy kitchen
- Mark (8/5): - Clean & neat, comfortable, located well for access to Spirit of Tasmania Ferry. Value for money.
- CHRISTINA (10/5): - Liked that it was close to the Spirit of Tasmania port.
- Mischa (8/5): - Self-contained cabin with ensuite and kitchenette, uber quiet, very comfy double bed - slept like a baby. A few odd characters around but easy enough to stick to yourself. Oh and it right on the beach!
- Barrie (8/5): - Spacious and comfortable. Great overnighter, close to Spirit of Tasmania terminal. Near beach, park, and walks
- Fang (10/5): - This was a lovely cabin I stayed for one night. It has met everything I expected like cleaness, convenience, quietness, privacy, etc. The park is well located with just minutes drive from the spirit terminal. I booked a wrong date by mistake and the staff just fixed it on the date I was expected to arrive. I will stay here if I travel Devonport next time.
- Jose (10/5): - Great property which is near to Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal, enjoyed the stay here.
- Anita (10/5): - Staff was wonderful, made late check in easy. We wish we could have stayed longer!
- Carolyn (10/5): - Check in was seamless. Our Cabin was very clean, comfortable and modern. Lovely check in very friendly and helpful. Close to local shops.
- Alison (8/5): - Close to ferry terminus for early morning check in. Clean and quiet.
- Craig (8/5): - Loved the beach access and water views.
Needs a bit of an update but comfortable.
- Barbara (10/5): - Water front
- Yvonne (10/5): - Lovely cabin, good prices
- Kenneth (10/5): One night after arriving from Victoria - Did a day sailing from Victoria and stayed one night prior to heading off on a 1 week road trip along the north and west coast of Tassie - really close to the Devonport Terminal - about 3 mins. Really quiet and very comfortable little cabin - everything we needed - easy to find and just what we needed - no negatives for us
- Patricia (10/5): - We stayed in what I would describe a little Shack, very basic but with everything you need and very clean. The caravan park was on the River and we watched the ferry leave. Nice walk along beach, bit weird having to unlock a gate to get out though.
- Rene (10/5): - close to the city, easy access
- Tony (10/5): - Very convenient and well placed for receipt of Spirit voyagers
- Anne (8/5): - Convenient for overnight after ferry crossing....cabin was clean but need bit TLC (torn curtains, sheet, upright fan very wobbly).
Had a peaceful overnighter
- Kristian (10/5): - Good value. Clean. Friendly. Convenient.
- Amanda (8/5): - Nice and close to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, which was needed for our day sailing. Shopping not far away as well
- Helen (10/5): - The park is only 5 mins drive from the Spirit of Tasmania. The managers were extremely helpful. They stay open to greet their guests off the ship, as the ship can run late. They put the heater on in our little cabin for our late arrival. There is also electric blankets and great hot water. We didn’t need to use the common areas in the park, as our cabin was self contained. The cabin was very clean.
- Hugh (10/5): Peaceful ferry accomodation - Staff are great, renovations are looking excellent, these cabins are fresh and new with many thoughtful extras. Will always stay here as it has a wonderful stillness and is very well located next to the ferry.
- Wilma (10/5): - Nice and clean.Had everything that I needed. Would recommend it. Lovely out look.Good walking track along the river
- Alice (8/5): - The cabin I stayed in was recently renovated. It was lovely and comfortable, and very clean. It had everything I needed, and a wonderful hot shower.
The grounds around the caravan park were massive, and kept very tidy, but a little run down. The location was perfect beside the river and sea, with some great walks, but the road next to the cabin was a little noisy.
- Jacinta (10/5): - The lady was really friendly and the cabin was very clean.
- Heidi (10/5): - Very friendly staff on arrival
- Geoff (8/5): - Accomodation was ok, it was just some sand on the floor that was an issue and only because I put something on the floor. Bbut it was just the one night and apart from that, cabin and everything else was ok
- Adrian (10/5): - Shower rose broken
- Verified traveler (8/5): East Devonport Rest Stop - Expectations for this cabin sleepover were not high given the 2 star rating. I can say with complete honesty that it was worthy of both stars. Check-in was quick and friendly, and also got some advice on where to find dinner. Main reason for my stay was to get some rest after the day long journey from Melbourne on the Spirit of Tasmania.
- David (8/5): - Perfect for a rest up prior to catching Spirit of Tasmania ferry. Comfy bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our stay was very comfortable. We arrived late after getting of The Spirit of Tasmania. The reception we received was very kind and welcoming. Thank you. We will definitely be staying here again. Very convenient for first night in Tassie.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small cosy cabin, needs air conditioning however breeze from near beach was pleasing
- Jennifer (6/5): OK for a quick stay - We stayed after getting off princess of Tassie. It was close and bed linen and towels very clean. Older small room but OK for tired traveller's just wanting a bed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great position but could be inproved with a little more communication
- Ayrton (8/5): - Wasn’t too bad rooms were hot but it was fine when cold hot water took forever to get hot but apart from that okay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location easy drive to board spirit of Tasmania
- Katrina (10/5): - Owner up graded our cabin was great very friendly staff close to the boat
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good spot near the ferry, cabins are a little worn but great value for money. Outdoor gym and playground were nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I thought the lady on front desk was lovely and very helpful the unit was very clean and the park was very peaceful. And very relaxing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is an older style park but lots of Tassie charm. Very helpful and welcoming staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dog friendly, close to the spirit, great cabin and easy access and checkin.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s very close to the boat and the beach and a good playground for the kids
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed for 9 nights, very basic cabin, bar fridge only, ran out of hot water quickly, tiny tv, kitchen not clean or suitable for cooking meals for more than one. Could not connect to internet for more than 30 seconds, so basically no internet. I had ants on my bed everyday and the floor and walls where not level and wobbled when you walked around inside.
- Pawan (4/5): - The property was not as it was advertised. We got the cabins right at the back with no river view, there was only one small heater in living room in 4 degree temperature weather which hardly heat up the caravan. I would never suggest this property. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was cheap, staff nice, probably could do with an update but was very clean and tidy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It has everything you need, lovely spot right on the water, we stayed in a cabin, also pet friendly.
Clean, tidy grounds, quiet & friendly staff.
I would highly recommend Abel Tasman caravan park.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice cute little self contained unit. It was clean and warm. An ideal size for an overnight stay. Had everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cabin was on a slant. Hot water runs out very quick. No oven, portable hot plate only plus microwave. Wifi is very limited. Needs an overhaul. Back to booking with the competition next trip. Nice service at reception.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location so quiet and close to the ocean like staying here as it’s close to the Spirit of Tasmania
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was fantastic, even better that we were given a key to access the local park. Everyone was very friendly
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Little bit dated. Better heating would’ve made to stay better.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was just a stopover before going on The Spirit the next day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There's no Screening on windows or airconditioner.
Staff was terrific though!🙂
- Verified traveler (10/5): - friendly helpful staff accomodation suited our needs
- Verified traveler (8/5): - So convenient to the ferry & great staff. Efficient & great spot.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was very clean and neat . Family Cabin was cosy and comfy .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The cabin we stayed in smelled like old ciggarette smoke, it seemed to be in the curtains but all thru the cabin. We tried to air it out for a couple of hours but, to no avail. Very disappointing
Aside from the above, the beds were comfy and the hot water Hot (although the kitchen taps were back to front - hot water came out of the cold tap and vice versa).
