Guest Reviews
- Harri (10/5): - Very friendly manager, room was ready for our late arrival, even though it was an older property it was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Plenty of hot water, plenty of room in our room. Recommend this motel.
- Deborah (6/5): - Pet friendly, very clean and comfortable bed . The grounds are fabulous. A fabulous place to stay with a family. Big open field to play . It’s an older motel but well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. The shower was lovely and hot . Great after a walk at the Warrumbungles . It has a cabin feel. Mobile reception poor but that’s a good thing , have a break and enjoy the surroundings.
- Sherry (10/5): - Unfortunately only an overnight stay, arrived after dark, left before dawn so didn’t really get to appreciate the property but what we saw looked amazing. The room was a very nice surprise, not only spotlessly clean but with some touches of opulence, excellent for a family room. The managers were amazing, popped by to check we’d settled in and had everything we needed. Would have booked for our return trip but (oddly) they were booked out! Also ample parking for trailers/vans, added bonus
- Michele (8/5): - Very quiet, clean and able to take pets a bonus. The grounds looked good being freshly mowed yesterday.
Friendly staff who made our stay an enjoyable one. Very close to the sliding and lovely shops in Coonabrabran, a very nice town with a great community.
- Michele (8/5): - The motel is in a wonderful pretty position, the newly done up rooms were a treat. However as you arrived the unkept grounds where a shambles as compared with the previous owner who took much pride in everything looking meticulously green and mowed,
- Josh (10/5): - Such a great location, great for kids with the pool and play equipment, close to town but in prime natural environment, bird life even kangaroos.spacious rooms, not flash but very sufficient especially for the price.
- Desmond (8/5): - We have stayed there before but on this occasion the unit was infested with beetles which were all over the place. We had some insect spray which we used to good effect. As well as the beetles there were various flying bugs. It was an inconvience that we did report to the owners.
- Ruth (4/5): - It's in a nice spot for visiting the Warrumbungles but a huge disappointment:ardens and lawns not properly upkept, buildings old and rundown; broken things inside our room never fixed; no attempt to paint/renovate.
Room was clean enough, however, with decent pans and crockery. But our room was ugly with poor natural light and too many beds in it for 2 people.
Very hard to contact staff - landline phone on website was NEVER answered nor messages answered. (We spent a long time chasing up a mobile number to check we could arrive AH after a long exhausting drive.
The dilapidated office was not manned - evening or morning - and the old call system at the locked office door did not work properly even though we followed the directions. There were 2 young men (cleaners, we were were told) who had obviously been left to look after the place and they were nice enough when we finally got to speak to them. But they gave unprofessional, minimal service.
The back door to our room had no key (but had to be locked for security of our belongings) and we had to walk around to the front of the building without having a path and lighting to follow (unsafe for older people..) The grounds were roughly mowed but gardens not 'cared for'.
I wouldn't be so critical if we were only charged $65 per person per night. But wewere were charged $125 per person per night. It was too much for the quality of the accommodation (much happier with the Pilliga Pottery at $105 a night).
- Cecelia (10/5): - A lovely quiet place to stay. Excellent fish and chips but they definitely should put curry on the menu.
- Dirk (10/5): - Beautiful location near town and stunning Warrumbungles National Park. Room was clean, warm and spacious - very good value for money. The view of the stars from the back verandah is not to be missed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very old and tired. Very unfriendly staff who didn't respond to three different messages before we arrived. Quite a long drive out of town with no breakfast orders or catering after 5pm.
- John (10/5): - Location, location, location...beautiful valley, trees, birds. Close enough to town to nip in for dinner(need to eat early as many venues close early).
Advice on how best to view the Milky Way was helpful....and it was spectacular.
Very good for families with young children. Not posh, but comfy.
- Karen (4/5): - The room was dirty and clothes from previous occupant were left. Toaster was old and rusty, all appliances very old and in need of replacement, shower curtain smelt awful. The room looked like a 70s school camp set up. Outside was dusty and unswept and untidy.
- Stephen (10/5): - An absolutely perfect location for some peace and quiet. Stunningly beautiful bush land surrounds, and in a super convenient spot between Coonabarabran and the magic bushwalks of the Warrumbungles.
Super friendly and accommodating staff, would recommend to anyone.
Thank you for the lovely stay!
- Rod (10/5): - This is well worth the 8km drive from Coonabarabran. Just ideal for recharging your batteries. The peace and quiet combined with nature's gifts is so therapeutic.
We stayed two nights, but for a commitment, would have loved to have spent more time here.
Will be back.
- John (8/5): - Great location, a little isolated so perfect, easy access to the Warrumbungles & Siding Springs Observatory
- Malcolm (8/5): - Great location to Warrumbungle National Park, nice quiet and peaceful location, well appointed motel rooms with everything you need. Guest laundry.
- Danny (6/5): - Fantastic location, tranquil and relaxed. Unfortunately the wifi only worked in the car park and not in our room, that wifi was available was a bit misleading
- Jayaprakash (10/5): - Very clean and spacious! Loved the pool!
- Bernadette (10/5): - Quiet and serviced the large family well. Great facilities for cooking eating outside and swimming
- Jane (8/5): - Well equiped room..we were able to cook ourr own dinner. Nice surrounds. Close to the national.park..
- Eileen (6/5): - The room was larger than i thought it would be. The social area didn't have any working lights and no air con it was too hot to sit in and the door to the gym was locked! I knew there was a shared bathroom but i did expect to be able to use it on my own!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check-in was closed until 2-pm as it was raining we sat in our car for 50min. Most other accommodation have an open reception and allow early check-in if the room is available. Lady at reception was not overly friendly. Rooms were adequate but basic.
- Dmitry (8/5): - Nice stars and Milky Way view from outdoor. Property style is outdated. First time for many years I have seen grandma stove at accommodation. Non existent mobile reception. WiFi provided on paper but it was reachable only close to reception not at units.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean property surrounded by greenery
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice staff, spacious room, clean linen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - quiet, in bush, close to night event at observatory
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely spacious grounds not far out of town. Dated rooms but well kept. Great location for observatory and walking the warrumbungles.
- Peter (8/5): - Nice well planned country setting. The room was spacious, clean & well maintained.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value for money and beautiful grounds. Very friendly staff and accommodation was great.
- Leah (10/5): Warrumbungle weekend oasis - Had a great stay here. It’s a beautiful large property with a great pool and very dog friendly. We had dinner here one night and it was delicious and served to us in the room. We also had dessert which was brought to us after we had finished dinner. It was amazing service and we regretted not doing dinner again the next evening.
- Dave (4/5): - Not 3 star. Awful mattress and everything In room very dated. Felt like we were in a year 6 school camp room. Smelt very strongly of room deodorant. Dick and Sally nice people though.
- Ali (10/5): - Lovely lovely host! So accomodating, nothing a trouble, we turned up late but she managed a beautiful dinner of lamb shanks and salmon fillet for us. A breakfast fit for a king, delivered on time and piping hot and a wonderful packed lunch for our day hiking. So peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay much more than we had anticipated.
- Jillian (10/5): Jill and Michael - A great trip and a wonderful place to stay.
- DB (8/5): - QUITE GOOD- Nic setting; friendly owners; well equipped though stove in cupboards bit odd
- Karl (8/5): - Lovely stay
- Roger (10/5): - Fantastic home base. Thanks
- Shailesh (10/5): Lovely stay - Good relaxing stay. The night sky was amazing also the mornings. A little stroll away from town noise and light
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location close to Warrumbungle. Nice self containing cabins.
Stunning sky at night to see the Milky Way. Just keep in mind there is no internet (only "occasionally " ), and no mobile signal! (We have Telstra). Staying 4 nights I wish we would be offered vacuum cleaning once and more tea bags.
- Min (8/5): - This motel was perfect for our mini moon getaway after our wedding. No mobile reception whatsoever with Optus, which meant we had quality time to spend with each other and enjoy the proximity to the warrumbungle national park. The rooms were clean and it had everything you needed.
- Tanya (8/5): Comfortable and convenient - Very comfortable, quiet, we enjoyed the pool and tennis court and close to the observatory.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hospitality, and pet friendly. Owner was fantastic, plenty of room for dog to run around. Great halfway point from Vic to Qld.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bed retained a lot of heat from the day and even after the aircon and fan being used for hours it still didn’t cool down until after midnight. Pillows were ridiculously buoyant and uncomfortable. Aircon unit was old and didn’t efficiently cool the room. Wifi wasn’t working and no coverage on Vodafone network. The room was clean, hotel was quiet and on site parking was good but it lacked value for money. Ironically it was the most expensive hotel in the Coonabarabran area. Would probably be ok for a winter visit but would look elsewhere for a summer stay.
- Des (10/5): - Nice and quiet location, great for kids and dogs. Have stayed here many times.
- Dangles (6/5): - Quiet surroundings convenient location for National Park room very clean and comfortable but tired. Probably better value for money elsewhere
- Edward (8/5): Great place to stay - Quick check in. Room was clean and very spacious. Had a good sleep there as it's nice and quiet. Great touch with the kangaroos out the back. Not far from town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): We arrived at 3.30 pm and no- one was available - We drove over 100 kms to get there and needed to access a toilet and to rest. We cancelled our booking after driving back to Coonabarabran
- Heather (10/5): - We stayed for 3 nights. Very comfortable large room. Dated rooms but well worth staying. Lovely sitting out the back & watchimg the wild life. Defimitely stay again. Great for families
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent surroundings - I needed to go to the local hospital and they were fabulous
- DC (6/5): Convenient to Warrumbungles - Nice motel; not flashy or fancy. More "homely". A bit old but nice and quiet and good value. Excellent for a bigger family as our room coild sleep 5.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We read some reviews after booking. The rooms where not as bad as described. We did not expect the size of the rooms with everything you could need at your finger tips
- Kathy (10/5): Wonderful unit in a pet friendly place. Perfect. - After a long trip from the Northern Territory, staying in pretty average caravan parks this was a wonderful change.
- Sofia (10/5): Lovely hotel in a very quiet forest area - My partner and I traveled to Coonabarabran to visit the observatory and chose this motel for our stay as it was very close to the Warrumbungles Observatory and the Warrumbungle National Park.
The hotel was super clean, nobody else was there, the room has all the amenities you might need.
The hotel manager was a lovely lady who had a wealth of knowledge on the area and was very helpful.
It was a pleasure to stay there and i would definitely stay there again
- Katrina (10/5): country hospitality - my Daughter and four grandchildren had a comfortable stay in the pleasant surroundings of the motel.lovely amenities for the children and accomodating of some visitors to the site who were allowed to use the pool.Sally was very Helpful thankyou
- Tony (10/5): Warrumbungles Mountain Motel - Brought my telescope up for the weekend, not a lot of luck with the cloud cover but when it was clear the dark skies were amazing. Milky Way was beautiful.
Thanks Sally, the hotel was excellent, will visit again for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful motel close to Siding Springs. - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for three nights. We felt very welcome and we were looked after beautifully. There are great facilities and we would recommend this place to any group wanting to get together for any reason. It is also in a good position to visit The Warrumbungles, Siding Springs Observatory and nearby is the Warrumbungles Observatory for observing the night sky.
- John (10/5): Excellent Base to visit the Warrumbungles Mountain - Our family stayed in an excellent family room, in a superb rural setting, with lots of sporting facilities nearby. The food was of highest quality, served by friendly people. A great advantage was the proximity of the spectacular mountains and the Siding Springs Observatory.
- Jeremy (10/5): Comfortable & quiet motel - In the heart of Australia's first dark sky park this motel provided a very relaxing, comfortable and quiet 2 nights rest. Looking skyward at night time will show you the nights sky like you've never seen it before. Highly recommend staying here away from the traffic noise and closer to nature. I will be sure to return.
- Roger (8/5): Peaceful overnight stay - Not easy to locate as it is off the main highway and some 8km out of town towards the Warrumbungle observatory. No street number meant that our GPS gave us the street , but only it's start on the outskirts of Coonabarabran itself!! Very friendly atmosphere when we eventually found the motel. Great location if travelling with children - lots of space for young people to run around and let off steam!
- Verified traveler (6/5): It's off the Highway - That is about the only saving grace. Room is extremely dated, shopping trolley with linen? outside. Swear I got a hair off the towel when drying, (in my mouth) didn't want to look which kind it was :( Air conditioner barely worked on such a hot day. Exit is more of a 4x4 track than driveway.
- Jade (8/5): Great place to stay for the family and the dog - Stayed here overnight on our way to QLD. The motel accommodated the family dog and our family of 5. Highly recommended. Note: The location of this motel is about 10 minutes out of Coonabarabran.
- darren (2/5): flithy rundown unit - Very rundown, rotting doors , spiders, very unclean kitchen everything had old food left on it and Was left in the cupboard
- Verified traveler (8/5): Planning another stay - The room had recently undergone a renovation. The grounds and area around allowed the kids to run around and play. We will probably be back in the new year with a couple of other families.
- Verified traveler (10/5): good rooms and excellent cooking facilities - excellent base for walking in nearby Warrumbungles Nat Park
- Jenny (2/5): Don't believe the other reviewers! - The motel is very dated, the rooms have kitchens, bedcovers and bathrooms from the 60's (pine cupboards!), rooms need painting, recarpeting, new kitchens, new bathrooms, the corners cleaned, the gaps filled in. Night was 3 degrees outside, the heater didn't work, gaps under doors, and window coverings in adequate, no electric blankets. No phone reception or internet at all - and no phone in the room - too bad if we had a medical emergency during the night. Know what this motel used to be, and it is very run down now. Very disappointed stay, and would not recommend it at all.
- Tricia (8/5): Warm Retreat - On arriving at Reception I was greeted by some of the many birds that frequent the property. The hostess was informative & helpful. The room was well suited for a family. The location is key being close to Siding Springs Observatory & The Warrumbungles National Park.
- Alyssa (8/5): Great for large families - My family and I had a wonderful stay at Warrumbungles. One of very few places that cater to larger families. Large rooms (sleep up to 8 people), a pool, swings, and heaps of room for the kids to run around. A very welcome stop on our journey.
- Jodie (8/5): Country style motel, Swimming pool was fabulous! - We stayed overnight on our way to Sydney. We took a drive up to the observatory, had a late swim in the pool and a yummy dinner at the pub in Coonabarrabran.
- Stacey (10/5): Fantastic Quiet location - Thanks for the great place to stay. Excellent Facilities, Food was great and free Wifi.
Its a nice relaxing place out of town and just across road from the night skywatching.
- Michael (8/5): - Facilities: Unpretentious; Value: Economical; Service: invisible?;
The sign at the front has the hours that the reception is open blanked out, and no one was there the next day at 8:10AM! Unhelpful
- ROSEMARIE (8/5): - Facilities: Everyday, Unpretentious; Value: Affordable; Service: Helpful; Cleanliness: Neat;
