Guest Reviews

- bruce (3/5): If it’s a very tight budget then this is the place do you - Location was great The stay was very average, cold dark and dirty facilities. More of a halfway house for the homeless! Social workers visiting clients, very old and need of repair.
- Tim (10/5): Overall a very enjoyable stay!!!!! - Very comfortable bed!!! Nothing
- Babic (10/5): - Close to city and work Everything was great
- Lochie (8/5): - Easy going Guests were very loud

- アヤノ (10/5): - lovely, kindly staff Some people is who is staying long term have some own rule. It's not real rule but we need to polite them.
- Felipe Avendaño G. (5/5): - The location is fine, the bed wasn't bad. Not hot water in the womens bathrooms. The night entrance is very bizarre, there are always crackheads and drinkers on the tables outside. Is only 1 TOILET for all the men on the first floor. The unisex toilet had no access for the guests. The lockers in the room were broken, no coat hangers. The heater was also not working. Definitely not a good place to stay for the price, it should be cheaper instead, $88 per night is excessive for what you get.
- Cherie (1/5): It was disgrading only bed was ok red bed - Close to city could walk everywbere Not once there was hot water glad get home have hot shower ,staff openex up bathroom doir while i was on toilet i felt he took my pride way,i asked vout hot water, not once did i see cleaner go clean rooms the bin was never emtpy snelt, also xouldnt sleep dye ti lady i think on drugs walj in and out all night was very rude i coyld only find this backpackers avabile i would rather sleep on street, very cold place, staff only work few hours in receeprion which find silly ill never book gain i should get refund 5 days without shower is wrong

- Kumar (10/5): All in all, my stay was blissful and definitley exceeded my expectations. - Everything is amazing about Imperial Backpackers. The rooms were neat and tidy and so was the bed which was very comfy. All the facilities are very hygienic and staff are very friendly. You get bang for your bucks!!! The real icing on the cake is that it is centrally located in the heart of Hobart CBD. I definitely recommend for short-term and long-term stays. The absence of an elevator as the building is multi-storied. You also do not get allowed to cook in your own room as there are smoke detectors installed in every room.

- Annice (5/5): Alright. - It’s alright for a hostel I guess. We had a private room so I can’t comment on dorms. The room was fairly clean but I think it’s because it was one of the new rooms. The bed was actually very comfy I must say. Location is very good. John was helpful. The public areas are terrible - very worn down. I think instead of adding more rooms to the building they should have used the money renovating what’s already there. Cleanliness in public areas is not good enough but it’s probably more to do with it all being so old. We were situated right next to a lounge common area which was very echoey and had a piano, TV and lots of sofas. Not the best location for rooms - people were loud and inconsiderate late at night. There were many nights where my partner and I struggled to sleep.

- Elisa (4/5): If you don't mind making some compromises, it's okay to resist for a night saving some money. - Old rotten low vibe hostel. Helpful, efficient and friendly staff. Excellent position, a good place to stay for the night and move on. Excellent ladies toilette cleanliness. Extremely dirty but spacious kitchen. I stayed there for one night to catch my flight the next morning so at the end of the day it was a good compromise given the cheap price and the central location, which was extremely close to the bus stop for the airport (not even 3 min walk) but I wouldn't come back, maybe I would pay a bit more even for one night, to feel e bit more comfortable. General common spaces cleanliness (the moquette and couches was horrifying), illumination. The closed kitchen at 6am has been a bit uncomfortable cause I needed to have breakfast before departure. People in the common space making noise till late night wasn't ideal, but nothing you can't fix with a pair of earplugs. Again, nothing against staff, amazing people. But you can't say the same about the building and the general care the management put into this hostel.

- Bonnie (8/5): -
- Angela (5/5): Not terrible but definitely not great. - -Location was excellent - right in the middle of the city
-Bed was very comfortable - pleasantly surprised
-Toilets were usually clean
-Not too much noise -Towels weren't automatically provided for private rooms - however they did bring me one after hours when I reached out
-Reception hours minimal, meaning inconvenient to hold bags/request necessities
-Shower was cold (lukewarm after a few minutes)
-One sink in the shared bathroom
-No soap dispenser on the shower wall (provided hand soap, not body soap)
- Alexandra (1/5): - Terrible staff rip off place other people staying there a homeless thieves and i wouldnt even rate them one star be careful of this place i would try ANY OTHER BACKERS Everything
- Ben (5/5): Value, close to city centre - Staff helpful and friendly Bedding uncomfortable, kitchen closed befoe my knock off time most nights
- Daniel (4/5): It’s not as bad as the reviews suggest, although staff attitude could be much better. - Location & Price Cleanliness & Staff attitude
- Steven (8/5): -
- Katrin (7/5): -
- Michaela (10/5): Caring and Essentially New York - bed, facilities the weather
- Michaela (10/5): Convenient and friendly - room and bed nothing much
- Llewyn (3/5): Disapointing - Location Window in room painted open by 2cm so noise and smoke from smoking area and night entrance very loud and smelly. Bathrooms had wet towels on floor and hair in shower recess.
- Laura (6/5): - The common area Parece más un hostel de vivir que de turismo
- Alexander (6/5): -
- Asin (10/5): -
- Kazi (7/5): -
- Ben (2/5): Overpriced street camping. - Location Everything else. Sheets were dirty, found dirty band aid stuck to underside of pillow. Door had enough clearance for passer by to be looking under door.

- Eduardo_Magos (7/5): Ok...
- Duanyun (9/5): Good location - Kitchen
- Rodney (8/5): - I liked the fact it was in the city area, did not realise everything is so close in Tasmania. I would have preferred private facilities but haven't stayed at Backpackers for many years & you do get what you pay for according to the rate of accommodation in the city you visit.

- Ka Yew (4/5): If you're looking for a bed ONLY, it's fine to stay here. - Many rooms Too many guests, no one knows their quality and attitude
- Ellie (1/5): -
- Kimberley (6/5): Cheap and cheerless. - Great location in the cbd. My bed was comfortable. This place is dark and cavernous. It feels like it’s slowly crumbling apart. I guess you get what you pay for.
- Otto (10/5): Relaxing stay in City Center - I love having my own bed and the bed being made when I got there! I loved the Clean bathrooms and the Colored doors of all the different rooms!
- Camila (4/5): - nothing
- Artur (6/5): -
- Samy (8/5): - Very welcoming place, comfortable, great unforgettable people and staff
This hostel is not perfect but I had a great time here, definitely deserve a higher rating Some few things like kitchen closing, reception not often open, laundry system annoying
- Vania (8/5): -
- Cox (5/5): I only stayed one night - Great location and good price Kitchen was messy and showers were moldy.
- Gonzalo (8/5): Bien - La ubicación y la libertad que genera No muy higiénico , pero la gente que se hospeda no ayuda en mucho, es un edificio viejo, ideal para parar x unos días, si te quedas más de 4 días te consume la energía del lugar
- Amelie (6/5): -
- Ayla (7/5): -
- Nancy (9/5): -
- Jody (5/5): Good location but needs some serious TLC - The location is perfect and there is so much potential to make this a great place to stay. The properly is very old and run down. There is a definite smell about the place. It could do with an entire refurbishment. The communal lounge is a huge lost space. There’s definitely room for a kitchen or at least an area for a fridge, microwave, toaster etc. I got the vibe that there are a lot of long term tenants staying here as there were a lot of people leaving in uniform in the morning. Could be such a great spot but needs some serious work.
