- Mitchell (10/5): Loved our stay at the blue pub , staff was lovely, food was excellent too will definitely be back for a visit soon - Very nice spot and was lovely Nothing I loved every part off it
- Denise (9/5): - Food was amazing. Shared kitchen was good but short of mugs and cutlery - not enough for our group.
- Shiree (8/5): - We liked the location- the food and entertainment. That it was not easy to find the car parking area.
- Thiru (8/5): Worth the Money - Nice location well maintaned
- Sebastian (8/5): - Die zentrale Lage im.ort. Achtung! Wintersport im Sommer entsprechend wenig Publikum. Küche war eine Mikrowelle. Wer damit umgehen kann, jann auch Brokkoli und Rührei kochen.
- Victoria (8/5): - The location and ambiance The non noise insulation like everywhere else in NZ. Felt like people were talking in my room
- Paul (7/5): -
- Gaia (8/5): -
- Gavan (10/5): Comfortable clean good shower and amenities - Great location close to shops and restaurants
- Claire (3/5): It was ok but only because we just slept & left - That the location was central & we had a restaurant & bar (although it was treated very separately) The rooms are only accessible from a dark rabbit warren staircase
There was little to no kitchen stuff supplied eg no tea, coffee, cups teaspoons, teatowels
Even though we were staying we were treated like everyone else entering the restaurant & bar facilities
It was very noisey & bright in the rooms (badly fitted curtains & a window that spilled lght from the hall that was not able to be covered)
The staff were not friendly and seemed annoyed even checking us in
- Pia (8/5): I enjoyed staying at the pub because you meet new people in the kitchen area. - tidy and clean kitchen, showers and toilets noisy when people sit on the 2nd level veranda.
- David (10/5): - great pub
- Tim (7/5): Some staff were super friendly when we booked in very helpful. - We left early so missed breakfast. The burgers were good I had the Big Mac was nice beef & lots of cheese just the way I like it.

- Mike (10/5): - Bang for buck, this place is great! The room was spacious and warm, the bed was comfy, and the showers were great. We were there on a Saturday night so they had live music, which wasn't as loud as I was expecting in the room, but I can imagine some people would need ear plugs to get to sleep. For the price, there wasn't anything that didn't meet expectations.
- Stephen (8/5): Awesome - Atmosphere Not much
- Adam (7/5): -
- Margerie (9/5): Bloody awesome - Loved the friendly staff the meal was amazing and the remincing of the good old days Nothing
- Cath (7/5): -
- Jennifer (5/5): Ok - Felt it was pretty pricy given the vibe of the whole place.
- Chantal (8/5): -
- Roy (3/5): Great location poorly managed - Great location in the heart of Methven The Duty Manager was berating her staff in front of customers in an extremely unprofessional manner, and seemed to be stressed to the point of not being able to manage her responsibilities. Everyone present was shocked and sorry for the staff and the wider business.
- Amanda (7/5): Good for a one night stopover. Pay to check if live music playing and you’re a light sleeper as rooms directly above bar - Food was great, staff friendly and beds comfortable. Was noisy, and same unisex sinks post toilet, and for cleaning your teeth I didn’t like. Couldn’t switch from a 3 single and one single to two twins yet rooms were available.

- Apryl (6/5): Clean, comfy bed but noisey. - Good location, facilities were clean and the bed was comfortable. Take ear plugs. We had room number 12. Do not book that room. It's close to the bathroom. You can hear everything including the drunk people throwing up along with every step the person next door makes on the creaky floors. The room has no lamp so it's either daylight or pitch black, which is really awful when you just want to relax.

- Joy (8/5): -
- Geoffrey (9/5): - A nice warm and comfortable place right in the center of methven Nothing
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Sam (8/5): Perfect place for a night away and the accommodation was great, comfortable beds, warm and clean -
- Michael (6/5): Accommodation is really basic, just a bed and a table, small heater. - Location is good, right in the middle of town. Close to amenities, supermarket, restaurants, service station (for fuel) Accommodation is situated on top of the pub. On Friday night, loud music blasted until well after midnight.
- Jane (6/5): A good back packer style accommodation. - Iconic Blue Pub loads of history and suited what we needed for one night. No direct access from the pub to the accommodation so we had to walk around the back in the dark. Also no hot water for a shower in the morning.
- Heinz (8/5): Highly recommended - No breakfast at the Hotel but supper which was very good
- Thomas (10/5): - Ace for the price.
- Michelle (7/5): Good value friendly and clean if you are travelling solo and want somewhere with a bit of soul and others around to chat - Full of character and right in the heart of Methven opposite the ihub where the ski bus leaves from. The room was warm. The restaurant and bar were busy and cheerful and the food was plentiful and tasty. The shared facilities were clean and I never had to deal with any queue. This is definitely an old style pub and there isn’t much sound proofing. The accommodation is up a flight of stairs. There are no laundry facilities on site, and there isnt a drying room if you are staying here to ski. That said I had enough room to hang up my gear so that wasnt really an issue for a short ski visit.
- Minhai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (6/5): Pleasant - Good location to eating places... wasn't keen on 3 flights of stairs but it's a big old Pub so can't expect much else..struck a night with a DJ so not much sleep but lots of young folk about to enjoy it in this very small town..It's SKI season so should have considered that when booking...otherwise Staff were pleasant. Probably best described as a Back packers accommodation so if your into that then that's what you get
- Jolene (10/5): One night dinner and drinks perfect - Everything Walking outside to get around the back
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Comfortable for an overnight stay and excellent value for money
- Justine (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (8/5): Very good - Iconic historic pub. No complaints.
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (9/5): Superb -
- Val (10/5): Exceptional - Great value for money.
- Grace (5/5): Passable - Unfortunately live band was gonna be playing which we were placed right above it so did make it less enjoyable
- Charles (7/5): Basic but what it says on the tin ! - Friendly staff. Good food and drink.
- Bruce (8/5): - Restaurant food good, friendly staff, the rooms were comfortable although a little dated.
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - Location Nothing
- Jeremy (4/5): - Fleas!
- Andy (8/5): Central, fun pub which was pleasant to stay in and provides good value for cost - No breakfast had at hotel but had dinner which was OK
Value for money was good, given shared facilities
Great outdoor balcony upstairs in afternoon A little noisy, room to corridor acoustics
- Jerald (8/5): - An interesting small hotel located in 2nd floor of bar and restaurant. Attractive price. Good fast service in restaurant. Expect noise from the bar before midnight.
- Chrissy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (6/5): - We got what we paid for. This is budget accommodation. Our room was over the bar front/outdoor dinning area and was noisy. There is no internal access from the bar/dinning area to the accommodation. You have to exit the pub, walk around to the back and come in a separate back entrance. Common kitchen and bathrooms were clean and tidy. No complaints really.
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (6/5): Comfortable room, cool balcony. - Close to centre of Methven. Historic property. Cool balcony. Had to walk length of building to use the loo in the night. It is what it is.
- Sheryl (3/5): Poor - The pub was nice and the food It was meant to be a break for my husband and i. We raise 3 special needs grandchildren it was our first break we have had you years. The bedroom smelt like fish really bad to the point we could not stay we went home.
- Craig (8/5): Very good - Great Location Meals were satisfactory. The salads could have been more presentable.
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Feidhlim (10/5): Fun place to stay with friends. Definitely recommend. - Very well located, friendly staff, ‘cheap and cheerful’ but excellent value for money. Will definitely visit again! Nothing!
- Zoe (4/5): We won’t be staying there again. - The beds were comfortable and clean and the meal in the pub was great. The condition of the property was very underwhelming, the noise was awful even at 11:30pm although the pub apparently closed at 10:00pm plus the bar staff didn’t know we were staying which was a concern. Also, there was no obvious light switch to the stairs going up (only going down) which was a bit dangerous.
- Nicky (8/5): Very good -
- Terry (8/5): Very good -
- Latoya (10/5): - .
- Steve (10/5): - Great place
- Czajka (9/5): very happy with everything - everything great
- Rebecca (5/5): Passable - Good location. Clean premises. Very small room, very cramped. Nowhere to put anything in the room (no bedside table, 1 small shelf only).Room smelt of stale cooking fat, probably because situated over pub kitchen). Expensive for such a small room with shared bathroom etc.
- David (9/5): Superb - Excellent pub accomodation. Room was quiet even when bands were playing downstairs on saturday night. Kitchen has no hot plate or oven (just microwave which limits what you can cook).
- Josh (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abi (10/5): Super comfy room & clean facilties. Staff were excellent in the restaurant too! - Super comfy room & clean facilties. Staff were excellent in the restaurant too!
- Allan (6/5): Na - Meals was nice 👌 The walls , should have been put 'Sound Proof walls to keeps the noise down.
- Robbo56 (7/5): Good -
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Dominic (9/5): Superb -
- Mikaela (4/5): Loud, noisy, sleepless - Staff was friendly. Place was clean. My number one complaint would be the noise. We expected the place to have some general noise and chatter being below a pub, but the blue pub was more like a loud bar with live music blaring below us. it definitely seemed like the main bar people in Methven gathered at on the weekends. Google told us the bar closes 1 hour earlier than what their website states and even then, the music and noise kept going until 1am while we had to be up early to catch the shuttle to mount hutt. Another disappointing feature of the room was the “large double bed” we booked turned out to be 2 single mattresses pushed together which was not amazing. I ended up in the crevice of the two mattresses a few times and felt myself slipping down between them. There is also no lamp or bedside table next to the bed so you either got a bright harsh cool light bulb or complete darkness in the room. I’ve seen a few reviews offer the idea of adding a lamp to the room. The rooms can definitely be updated.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Alana (10/5): The blue pub - Great clean comfortable facilities and the staff were super friendly and helpful and to top it off the food was amazing
- Pam (8/5): Very comfortable Accomadation excellent staff - Great location
Friendly helpful staff who went out of their way
- Farmer (8/5): Very good -
- Brittany (2/5): Overpriced, very basic rooms - Close to everything, pub was great, private Overpriced for rooms.
- Niamh (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb - Even tough above a pub room was quiet. Cozy, clean nice room. Only microwave, no hot plate or oven in kitchen reduced meal choices.
