- KAY (9/5): overall, it met all our expectations - More than adequate We had no issues, and there is nothing that we felt we would have wanted
- Sharon (4/5): - It was well located The room was very dusty. The windows screen was loose and banged in the wind all night keeping me awake. It would of been nice to have at least one comfortable chair to sit on.. Amenities are very basic.
- Simon (7/5): -
- Patricia (1/5): We Did not stay. - Location Falsely advertised, No door on bathroom, prepacked breakfast, no bedroom, no sofa.
- Ingrid (6/5): - Location was perfect Bed was like an uncomfortable board of nails
- Leah (7/5): -
- Stephen (5/5): Okay - Okay The price of the local wine purchased with our evening meal. We visited HANGING Rock winery the next day where thr same wine was 60% cheaper
- Joanne (8/5): - Breakfast was provided in the room. Rooms are Old but comfy
- Daryl (10/5): -

- Rodney (10/5): In town for a wedding so this was perfect location and venue for us - Location Location and in a pub was good

- Kathy (6/5): - Great location. A little noisy.
- Leigh (10/5): - The food and beers close to hanging rock Didn't stay long enough

- Alison (3/5): Uncomfortable - Location. Staff Bed
- Wilton (8/5): Always dangerous staying above a brewhouse with good beers! Would not hesitate going back - Staff were very friendly/excellent. Nice old pub feel with the benefit of a brewhouse below. Good beers and food. Bit of a "Fawlty Towers" start where our room (with mountain views) had mountain views but you could not open the windows. Probably OK in winter (there was a heater) but damn hot when we were there and without airconditioning the room was stifling. To add to the fun, the power went out and the thought of using the conveniently placed candles would have been interesting.
The staff moved us to another room (with mountain views and open windows) but the road noise was considerable (main road was less than 10 metres away).
Next night we were moved to a room near the back and much better. Staff were most accommodating and helpful

- Len (10/5): Had a wonderful time in a beautiful country town. Definitely stay there again - Location and cleanliness Little noisy at night but only due to bar underneath. Didn’t really bother us though

- Graeme (8/5): Clean, comfortable, and was all that we required for our local area stay. - Old style hotel type accommodation filled with character & style. Clean & comfortable facilities. Simple continental types breakfast which was sufficient. Central location great. Bathroom ok but lacks privacy. Shower just ok.

- Nick (8/5): Great little brewery/hotel. - A nice little hotel above a good pub with plenty of beers from the attached brewery to try. Didn't quite get through all of them but the stout was excellent. Good pub food on the menu and a nice breakfast in the room. A lovely stopover in a beautiful little town. No noise from the pub below that we could hear in the room. Exactly what I was expecting from the photos.

- Anne (9/5): The Holgate is a wonderful place to stay in Woodend - The hotel was a mixture of old style elegance and modern amenities Stairs I’m 72 and a lift would have been a great help
- Gavin (9/5): Comfortable and ideally situated - Location All good
- David (9/5): -
- Patricia (7/5): Good location - It was well located for our event
- Kim (5/5): Convenient stay in a cool brewery - Location Freezing toilet seat and floor
- Bradley (10/5): Very enjoyable stay - Everything
- Rundell (8/5): Very good - Spacious rooms, appreciated having a bath. Good heating. Enjoyed a lovely dinner.
- Katharine (5/5): staff are lovely, building filled with character, facilities old probably needs an update or refresh - good location, beautiful old building, large clean rooms they advertised breakfast included, I personally don't think leaving cereal packets milk and bread is break fast , I'm gluten intolerant so couldn't eat any of it and no one asked. i assumed it would be a cooked break fast. its very basic as a room in general for the price. probably a 3 star.
- Clint (10/5): Exceptional - Grand old building fantastic food & beer Nothing
- Kara (9/5): Superb - Nice location 👌 The stairs....but to be fair, I have bad knees.
I managed it was fine
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Good - Location Hard bed
- Vivian (8/5): Very good - Close to town. Old rooms. Stair case. Shower over bath.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Historic, quiet and clean. Staff very friendly.
- Anastasia (4/5): This time our stay was very unpleasant. - TV pixilating
Bed needs new mattress
- Mandi (7/5): Good -
- Pete (7/5): great - The table in room could have been a little bigger to able to prepare snacks/breakfast etc
- Cordon (8/5): Very good -
- Cheryl (6/5): - Well located property
Lovely staff
Carpets should be removed and rooms could do with refurbishing but otherwise priced accordingly
- Delia (6/5): Great location , old fashioned pub . - Convenient location and efficient . Simple set up but as a place to sleep while visiting family nearby it fitted the bill . A bit overpriced .
- Marcia (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, very comfortable beds. Brewery has amazing food as well
- Kata (7/5): Good -
- Noel (4/5): Quite enjoyable. Will come again even with the few shortcomings. - The continental breakfast was excellent. The location was perfect. Very noisy early in the morning particularly trucks, garbage collectors and street sweeper. If we stayed any longer the overhead fan would have been insufficient to keep the room cool as there was no air conditioning.
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lynne (6/5): - The property was very overpriced for a basic room above a hotel. There was no air conditioning (on a typical summer day, so pretty uncomfortable), no TV in the room (one in the other room), no hair dryer and a flickering bathroom light.
- Stephanie (7/5): Good location, local to everything, nice simple room. Was good for work overnight stay - Great location and easy to get to. Off street parking. Would have been nice to have some more amenities like hair dryer and air con etc
- Eamon (9/5): Superb -
- Tracey (9/5): Superb - Perfect accommodation for our one night stay.
- Steven (10/5): Great place to stay and visit 10/10 - Excellent facilities, spacious room, huge ensuite. Included breakfast was great too :) Nothing, loved it all.
- Narelle (7/5): Good -
- Steve (7/5): Ok for our purposes - Not for us Not our kind of food
- Trevor (10/5): Almost perfect - It's right smack in the center of town. Quaint, lovely bar downstairs with big spacious rooms upstairs. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the beer was great! I especially loved the sours and the chocolate ale. Bar closes at a certain time, but the staff let us stay abit later, keeping the back door open for us to go up to our rooms. Bathrooms were heated and huge, and the showers had good strong water pressure. Good wifi too. Only complaint is that the beds were way too hard. The mattresses felt like those hard ones in Southeast Asia. Everything else was amazing.
- Karen (5/5): Passable -
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Marcia (10/5): Had a great stay. Highly recommend dining there too. Delicious food and wine - Very quaint, very clean, wonderful service
- Markus (3/5): Wonderful weekend away, can't fault the atmosphere and dining experience wonderful. - The food and drinks were outstanding as were the friendly staff. The bed, the floor would have been more acceptable.
- Curtis (8/5): Very good -
- Sonny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gina (5/5): Passable - Hard beds. No air con and it was a heat wave and broken bathroom door
- Chris (7/5): Old fashioned pub stay - The room was clean and well appointed, and I loved the old-fashioned building - an old pub. Food at dinner was great too, and staff were helpful and friendly. The knob to switch the bath to shower didn't work to couldn't have a shower; despite promising gluten free bread would be available for breakfast, it wasn't, and the old rattly windows could only be opened a few inches (there wasn't an air conditioner so opening the windows was really needed).
- Jennifer (10/5): Great - Cute and right where we needed to be. Friendly and in an ideal position.
- Jillian (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (8/5): Comfortable and nice meal. - Fine All good
- Debbie (7/5): Good -
- Mark (10/5): - loved the staff and the views from the hallways into the old brew house. a unique experience, Staff were super nice and friendly. AA all around
- Debbie (7/5): Good - Close to everything. A bit dated but still comfortable for a night,
- Justine (8/5): A good time, great meals and good company. - The restaurant was outstanding, I had the pork belly and the gnocchi, both fabulous! Breakfast was good, I loved the banana bread. The bed was a little hard for my liking.
- Sonny (10/5): Exceptional - Great pub, excellent staff and service!
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location. Rooms are a bit tired. Expected more for the money.
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good -
- Sidiqa (5/5): Passable -
- Jay (6/5): Good location, spacious room , need better block out curtains and a bathroom blinds and triple glazed windows. A door i - Location and the brewery location! It’s a very basic accomodation, at least provide bottled water and real
Coffee , options of teas, don’t worry about the Brekky of cereal and weetbix and some frozen bread.
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional - Great old pub, nicely modernised rooms. Amazing brewery with good food and beer.
- Emma (10/5): It was really relaxing , clean the food was amazing. The staff very good. - The staff very friendly. It was really spotless, not only the room but the whole building.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Aimee (7/5): Good -
- Robert (7/5): Very nice old place and did not break the bank - Good location breakfast good ,very quiet place to stay plenty of different places to see and shop Also in driving distance to other places to see and explore as well. Also the craft beer is awesome The beds were very hard ,
- James (3/5): Poor - The room was quite tired and in need of some freshening up. View out of the window was power lines.
- Anthony (7/5): Good -
- Leigh (9/5): I’d come again. - The staff were lovely, especially Colin. The stairs…..my old body with luggage struggled with them.
