- tania (8/5): Was a nice clean place - The historic charm, great restaurant on site, food was excellent and friendly staff The mattress was a bit hard, if travelling with large suitcase, the the accommodation is up 2 flights of steep narrow stairs, little bit difficult.

- Melanie (9/5): Iconic Stanley Hotel with a great view of The Nut - We had a perfect view of The Nut from our main window, and the other window looked down to the beach. The hotel was well kept, very comfortable and very good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the bistro downstairs - atmosphere was warm and convivial and the meal was delicious. Definitely book ahead as it seems like a popular spot! It's a short walk to the chair lift which takes you up the steep face of The Nut to the Summit Circuit - a fairly easy 2.7k walk if you don't mind a few stairs - the beautiful heath, ocean views and patches of woodland magic are really special. The stairs are not designed for goofy people carrying heavy suitcases :) But that is part of the charm of these lovely old buildings - they have weird stairs, small doors, things like that.

- brian (9/5): Stanley was our first stop in Tasmania and it set a great standard for the beginning of a wonderful - Our room was lovely, bathroom great as well. Room was very clean and very comfy. We had drinks on the veranda before dinner and had dinner in the restaurant. Meal was great, the scollop pie delicious and the staff friendly . I cant think of anything that would have made our stay any better

The room was clean, warm and comfortable but absolutely tiny - nothing like the photos on the website. The window was tiny and looked over houses at the back & not towards the Nut which I was expecting. There was so many up and downstairs just to get to our room with our heavy suitcases.

- Joachim (10/5): Tolles Hotel in einer beeindruckenden Umgebung - Das Traditionshotel liegt absolut zentral in Stanley. Wir hatten ein sehr schönes und geräumiges Zimmer im I. Stock mit Balkon und Blick auf die Church Street, deren pittoreske Häuser wie die Kulisse für einen historischen Film wirken. Das Badezimmer war groß und modern. Das Hotel verfügt über einen großen Parkplatz, Restaurant, Bar und Bottle-Shop. Das Personal ist - Australien-typisch - sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist weit überdurchschnittlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und werden dort gern wieder übernachten. Nicht versäumen sollte man einen abendlichen Besuch auf der nahegelegenen Beobachtungsplattform für Zwergpinguine, die bei Einbruch der Dunkelheit vom Meer zu ihren Nistplätzen zurückkehren. Besser geht nicht!

- Tania (9/5): Lovely, good value room in the heart of Tassies quaintest town! - Stanley has to be Tassies most charming & quaintest town! For a small town theres an awful lot to do, thus warranting a 2-day + stay. The Stanley Hotel is a historic building, in the middle of the old town & within walking distance of all eateries & attractions. The room has been updated, is exceptionally clean & well-appointed (very comfy bed, bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, loads of storage space & ensuite), windows opened. The staff were super welcoming & provided me with a very early check-in. Unfortunately, my window opened over the roof to which the kitchen vented & so room was sometimes filled with smell of frying food. The bathroom is a bit tight. As is to be expected in a historic building the stairs are steep & narrow (makes bringing luggage up a bit of a challenge) & the stairwell light sensor sometimes fails to light or goes off midway down stairs.
- Martin (9/5): Super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis! - - Günstig! - Es gab einen großen Gratis-Parkplatz direkt am Hotel. - Es liegt sehr zentral in Stanley, alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind schnell zu Fuß zu erreichen. - Wir hatten einen sehr großen (allerdings mit dem Nachbarzimmer geteilten) Balkon mit Blick direkt auf "The Nut". - Das Zimmer an sich war auch nett. - Im Erdgeschoss gab es u.a. ein gutes Restaurant und eine Bar. - Kein Aufzug. - Der oben erwähnte "geteilte" Balkon ist etwas gewöhungsbedürftig.

- Jan (9/5): Charming Historical Hotel in the Center of Town - The office was closed on arrival, so I waited at the bar to check in & get instructions where to park. The staff was not the most friendly, but they were somewhat busy waiting on dining customers. No elevator or offer to assist a 72 year old with luggage up two flights of stairs.

I rate the restaurant and bar high as the staff and food were excellent Being given a room facing the rear and lugging heavy luggage up two flights of stairs. The room was a little on the small side by the time two suitcases were opened.

Restaurant within the building served very nice meals… just remember to book as it’s very popular! Be aware there are two flights of very steep stairs. We were in room 2 , west facing, and there was no ceiling fan or air con… only heating! Uncomfortably hot!

- Wendy (10/5): We loved our stay at the Stanley Hotel - a beautiful building, tastefully restored and great staff. - The location of the historical hotel was central and walking distance to everything that Stanley had to offer. The room was exceptionally clean and the bonus was the wonderful verandah leading from our room with the amazing view of the Nut. Dinner was delicious and the restaurant staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The viewing platforms for the little penguins was a short walk after sunset and we were lucky enough to see quite a few. Would definitely recommend Stanley Hotel to anyone visiting the area. Loved it.

- Ann (10/5): - Luxurious comfortable room with verandah, a street view of the town, chairlift and ocean. Hotel has a bistro with a good range of delicious food. Must do on your stay. Viewing the fairy penguins is just down the road. Unbelievable experience just a few streets away. Don't hesitate booked a room.

- Andrew (9/5): Great place to stay. - We had a room which was bright, roomy and clean and had a superb large balcony. The restaurant and food was great. Huge car park. Well appointed in the centre of town. Could do with a screen between the rooms that share the large balcony.

- Beverley (5/5): Conveniently located, very reasonably priced. - Room 7 very unsatisfactory. Steep stairs without handrails to bathroom. No space for an easy chair. Most uncomfortable room and not suited to an elderly person. Very unfortunate I was allocated this room as I saw rms 1,2 and 4 were much more spacious and ensuite on same level.
