• Jasmine (8/5): Home away from home feel but ant problems in the kitchen - Loved the lounge and shared spaces - very cozy and lovely sunroom. Bedroom was nice and clean and spare bedding provided for warmth. Good location, close to city centre. Found ants all over our food bag in the kitchen the next morning.

• Urge (5/5): - El personal és agradable. La cuina esta bé i neta. La gent que s’hi Hospeda és maca i social. L’habitació feia podor a aigua bruta. Lliteres molt molt incomodes (i això que he viatjat molt en Hostels), els coixins semblen de paper de lo prims que son. L’aigua calenta no surt amb pressió de la dutxa, surten gotes, aixi que es molt incòmode dutxarse. Tot sembla molt vell. Moqueta molt bruta. Sofàs molt vells. Quan vaig arribar a la 1pm la recepcio estava tancada i em van haver d’obrir els que hi havia per allà. Quan es fa fosc, l’hotel es molt fosc. Tenen molt poca llum.

• Brandon (8/5): Lovely and homely.. - My second time at this hostel and it is still a wonderful place to stay. It is comfortable, has everything you need and most importantly it feels homely. Which is wonderful when you are away from home. Although functional and ok, I think the bathroom toilets and shower could certainly use some upgrades. Especially the toilets, toilet seats.

Waschmaschine und Trockner hat super funktioniert und war preiswert. Bäder und Toiletten könnten sauberer und komfortabler sein. Die Bettwäsche hatte ein paar Flecken aber war noch in Ordnung.

Fast food restaurants and grocery stores within a short walking distance and not to far from the CBD. A few blocks in the other direction was Pukekura park, a great place to explore. The bathrooms could have been better. Needs more clothes and towel hooks in the showers.

• Gladys (9/5): Bon séjour - Ce Motel-auberge est vraiment chouette, très lumineux et calme, plein d'espaces pour chiller, une grande cuisine équipée, des lits confortables. Bien situé tout proche d'un supermarché (5min à pied) et de l'océan. Un fil à linge dehors pour étendre son linge après la machine, très pratique ! Le réceptionniste est très sympathique. Le ménage n'avait pas l'air d'être fait tous les jours. On est resté 3 nuits et on a vu les lieux nettoyés qu'après la deuxième nuit. Non pas que ça soit mega sale mais quand des locataires ne savent pas soulever la lunette des toilettes ou tirer la chasse d'eau, ça se voit... Pareil dans la cuisine, avec le nombre de personnes qui y passent, ça se salit vite. Une vraie éponge pour la vaisselle serait très appréciable.

The living room was perfect for relax I was on the top bed and as my room mates walked in around 1am turning the light on I woke up straight, as the light was almost above me. Also, I felt every movement of the person who slept on the bottom of the bed. I had a rough night.

• Jonathan (9/5): Professionally run hostel with clean, comfortable beds and a clean, superbly equipped kitchen. - Communication regarding access was smooth and clear, rendered all the more easy thanks to the electronic code access. The kitchen was extremely well equipped for a small space and was much cleaner than most NZ hostels. The provision of bath towels was also appreciated. The decor was homely, if a little dated. The upstairs toilets could have done with slightly more regular cleaning, and some of the curtains (e.g. the floor-to-ceiling ones in the upstairs corridor) are due for replacement. However, these are minor gripes in the context of an overall positive experience.

Stayed 1 night and could’ve done 5 more. Would stay again. No air con, however good amount of windows/air flow, so as long as you’re prepared and keep the windows open all arvo/eve, then it works.

• Rachel (9/5): A fab place to stay to enjoy all the activities New Plymouth has to offer. Would definitely stay again. - Cute cottage, had loads of character and everything we needed. We loved the outside seating and the proximity to the park (for the lights festival). Surprisingly quiet for a backpackers. A small bin in the bathroom for sanitary products and a soap rack in the shower - both things would be an easy fix and appreciated.
