It made our arrival smooth and stress-free. The accommodation was basic but comfortable, very clean, and the shower was excellent. The location is fantastic, close to all amenities and the glacier, which was very convenient. The only drawback was that it was quite hot during our stay, and there was no fan or air conditioning; a fan would have been much appreciated. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with helpful staff and a great location.

The transition was smoothly done, accompanied by friendly chat. The room we were allocated was near all facilities, and was a cosy place in which to hunker down during the thunderstorm. Facilities were clean. Could get busy in the high season but when we visited there was no competition for stove or bench space.

I was travelling alone and wanted somewhere very quiet and they made sure I had such a spot for my tent. One of the staff members ensured that I was charged as a solo tenter rather then double. I appreciated that very much. The camp has all the facilities I needed and was very clean and the guests were all very quiet and considerate of each other. The views are fabulous. I loved the fact that there is a field at the back with very friendly cows including one named Sweet Pea.

• GAUTAMCHITRA (10/5): Top10 Franz Josef - Amazing Family Experience - We (Family of 4) hired a motor home and drove from Lake Tekapo. This was a long 8hrs drive with stops. We arrived at the Top10 Franz Josef park and were greeted with a smiling face. The staff are extremely professional and very helpful. They provided us with all the information needed and let us in. We were amazed to see the hygiene levels of the communal kitchen and the toilets. So impressed at the Park and its facilities and the level of cleanliness it provides to make your stay comfortable.

We found this a relaxing set up with loads of space for our caravan, Ute and awning (something we didn’t get at all our Top 10 stays). Children had a blast adventuring around the safe grounds. Bouncy pillar was a hit !

Overall, exceeded our expectations and highly recommend it to anyone.

• Carole (8/5): - I chose this place initially for the price. Franz Josef is very expensive and this place is at the cheaper end, though still not cheap compared to other locations. I was a little apprehensive. I’d stayed in holiday parks before, but this place was much more homely. I chose a room with an en suite, happy to pay more not to have to share. In the end everything was fine. Yes, the rooms are small, but for one person for one night, it was fine. I don’t think people come to Franz Josef to sit around their rooms all day. I’d certainly stay there again if I were in the vicinity and can recommend it as an economical option.

They took the time to tell us about local attractions and good places to eat out. The facilities were very clean and well maintained, and the rooms were very comfortable!! The location was also incredible with a great view of the mountain and Franz Joseph glacier. Even extended our stay because we enjoyed it so much! Will definitely be returning in the future and recommend it to anyone travelling through!
• Belinda (6/5): - Very average. Facilities were basic and the room had a lingering odor. The reception was very rarely open. We were also disappointed that all entertainment in the games room came at a cost even though the pool table was not well maintained.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - Stayed 2 nights. Didn’t like wooden floors as we had neighbours with children. Both the mother and children klomped around and family woke us about 5 am each morning with banging of furniture, feet and voices. Our cabin could do with some clothes hooks to hang towels etc on. It had nothing. Apart from that it was a normal tidy camping ground.
