- DIMITRIOS (10/5): - Malcom the night Audit receptionist was excellent he moved me to a lovely room and fulfilled my request. If not i would have been very dissatisfied with the first room i was given. There are 3 things that must be placed in the room one is a fridge and the other is a toilet cleaning brush and a stand to put your suite case onto....other then this the breakfast was so delish and the staff in the restaurant did an excellent job. Thank you for making my stay a good one MALCOM especially 🇬🇷💙🏖🖐

- Graham (6/5): Very small double room - The double room was very small. The bed could only be accessed from one side and there was only one small side table. The bathroom was barely bigger than a cupboard and the extractor fan underpowered leading to a lot of humidity, although the shower was good. The aircon in the room was good and there was a lovely coffee machine and kettle.

- Dympna (8/5): - We had a two night stay. Nice room, comfortable bed, large bathroom, tea and coffee making facility. Eight of us for a meal in the restaurant. Food and service excellent. Drinks in the bar/lounge before and after the meal. I would have scored 5 stars but for our card keys not working on the second day, dirty cup left in the room after cleaning and not replaced and refurbishment limiting access through the hotel from room to reception, bar and restaurant.

- Colin (10/5): Elegant, comfy, and relaxing - A charming, well-run hotel in a peacfeul setting. My room was impressively large, a very big bed and was immaculately clean. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was a full variety and delicious.

Room was clean as was the hotel Breakfast, whilst plentiful and looked reasonable was tasteless. I felt that the bar was expensive. A small bottle of water about £4. I did not see what I was getting extra to a premier inn which which would have cost less.

Very friendly, arranged a taxi for me, as due to the local council Uber's don't go from there. Room service was good, food lovely. Breakfast, great selection & the lady & gentleman there today were very welcoming. The gentleman in a very smart suit was old school, I hope he doesn't mind me saying that but he was full of the traditional values of the hotel, he has worked there for 40 years. Will be back thank you.

- R (6/5): Letchworth Hall break - We were very disappointed with the fact that the hotel advertises access to spa facilities. This was very misleading, as it offers access to a connected Nuffield gym, that is open to non hotel guests too. This spoilt our stay and is not clear on the website! And access to the gym, we had to go out of the hotel in the cold weather. No separate towel for swimming. Very poor! Furthermore, we were disturbed with request for check-out at 11am, when our booking clearly stated 12pm. This was poor communication and I had to validate my check out time when I left the hotel. These factors contributed to a disappointing stay, especially being with my partner and over two nights booking.

- Trevor (4/5): Poor disabled access - Our stay was alight however what was disappointing was the location of the accessible bedroom which was almost100 meters from reception and on the first floor. to reach the room from reception it entailed the opening of 5 doors and when pushing a wheelchair it is very difficult when the door opens towards you. In most Hotels i have stayed in the accessible rooms are are close to or next to reception not at the farthest point and on the first floor. whilst on the subject of accessibility car parking was also an issue as all i could see was 2 blue badges for disability parking and not the recommended 6% of the total number of spaces which meant coming back at 2130 in the evening i was forced to park a distance form the entrance.
- Gabriella (6/5): Average at best - No internet, outdated furniture… Felt like I took a step back into the 80s. Paid for luxury but met the level of a budget hotel. On the plus side, they have lovely, helpful staff… Would I book again? NEVER!!
- Chris (4/5): Shoddy - The building was freezing cold. The bathroom in our room was freezing cold. Cobwebs all over the ceiling. Tv remote did not work. Asked for a replacement but was ignored. Asked for a glass of water at the bar for my wife and was charged £3!!!
- Mathew (2/5): Four Star, maybe if I had electric!! - Comfy bed, clean enough. Woke up to no electric in my room at all. Couldn’t phone reception as the telephones are powered. Got dressed by torch and could not use any of my room facilities, told reception who already knew about a power fault and there was not a hint of a refund or gesture of good will. Unfortunately I was there on business and didn’t have the time to argue as I was already late from the pitch black fun and games.

The English breakfast was ok, but the closing of the kitchen for hotel guests, to service a catered event, was not acceptable, when you have no transportation and nothing within walking distance our room had no heat, they did provide a space heater, we used for 2 days. No offer to fix. Light bulbs which were never replaced. Furniture worn. Just not the special place it was in the past.
- Andrew (8/5): Needs updating - The staff are wonderful, with just one little niggle. The lady in charge of breakfast clears your table when you get up to get anything else. The overall cleanliness was good but the hotel desperately needs money spending on it. Rotten window frames and loose toilet roll holder was just 2 things that needed fixing in my room. The reception staff were great and for that reason I would use it again.

- Anthony (2/5): Don’t go – why is no hot water in rooms an issue? - Management and or staff insouciant. No hot water available all day in room, hadn't checked on arrival (a maintenance man told me there were unaffected areas of the hotel) Reception said no move possible. Instead use the nearby unconnected Health Club, who required I supply ID & full personal details (just for a shower!) In my view inappropriately, Health Club confirmed they would be adding my details to their database, not just holding for the duration of my brief visit. No recognition of risk to me of their casual acquisition of my personal data! Hotel reception said this was not the agreement, but Health Club would not change their mind. As restaurant overcrowded, we went to bar for food, having been told no TV available to watch a particular football match on TNT, Liverpool match came on, on bar TV via same channel. Service in bar appalling - Mercure's till process (seen it elsewhere too) is too long-winded for staff. 2 staff took 12 minutes to serve 3 pints! Bar then lost our food order - arrived eventually 25 mins after re-ordering 30 minutes after initial order placed and acknowledged. Room safes not working - we've turned them off - yet it claims they're a 4 * hotel Bed was comfortable, room clean and spacious, air con worked effectively (albeit continuous hum). Shower worked well when water available (last morning) but low - only neck high if you're over 5 foot Seems hotel prioritises conferences not bothered about those who self finance.

- Adrian (8/5): - Only a one night stay to attend a Wedding. The staff were all welcoming and informative. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast choice was excellent. The hotel is looking a little tired decoration wise in the 'common areas'. A real value for money hotel, its not five star but then I didn't pay a five star price and so shouldn't expect it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beware no air con in rooms - No air con in rooms. Had units but were told that they had all been disconnected. Pretty appalling that this was the case in a 4 star hotel
- Lesley (4/5): Needs modernisation & attention - On arrival the receptionist was telling us logistics, someone was speaking loudly on the phone right beside her so we couldn’t hear. Our room was stifling (hottest day of the year), there was air con but not working - we phoned down but no one attended, went to reception was given a remote, but the air con had been decommissioned. We opened the window but were invaded by wasps, there was a bush directly outside & there were hundreds of them. The bed was so uncomfortable we slept on top with no covers. We were there to attend a family party locally. When we returned sometime after midnight the front doors were wide open, but there was not a sole on reception or anywhere else. All night long we could hear people returning to their rooms & the floors creaked. It’s understandably an older building but this was ridiculous. We had stayed at the hotel for a family wedding before & had none of these issues. The hotel has been allowed to go downhill, we imagine due to the results of the pandemic, but it really isn’t fit for purpose & to charge us £112 for just one night in room 6 was daylight robbery - never again!

- Kevin (2/5): Loud and Obnoxious bar music - If you like a weekend with loud bar / lounge music with a lot of bass shaking your room until 11:00pm, then this is your place. Terrible. Could not get a good rest because of this extremely noisy place on Friday and Saturday nights.

- Martin (6/5): Great staff, but hotel needs a refresh! - The staff were mostly excellent, but I was amazed to hear that tips aren’t paid to the staff concerned, at least in the bar. If that’s accurate it should change. Check in was efficient, informative and friendly. Bar prices for soft drinks are a disgrace (£2.75 for a tiny 200ml coke made it more expensive than the premium beers!!) The building looks tired and in need of a refresh throughout. I realise the industry is still in recovery, but basic things like holes in rotten window frames and cleaning windows (so that there aren’t weeks old spiders webs) really give a bad impression.

- JOAN (4/5): - In fairness its in a nice place, beautiful surroundings, staff good, bar and restaurant kind and friendly atmosphere. The room that i had needed updating, it looked tired and worn. The other thing that i experienced was the hair dryer sparking in my hand as it had a broken and bare cable and these electrical goods should be checked on a daily bases as this could have been a different situation with myself.

- Stephen (8/5): Good base for Letchworth - Pleasant stay, spacious room in the old part of the building, not modern but in keeping and clean and comfortable, fairly quiet. Easy parking and use of excellent gym/pool in adjacent Nuffield health club on same site. Breakfast good but very busy with workers about to start a course each morning.

- Dawn (6/5): Not the best - Hotel outdated and needs some work done. When we got to our room the room was uncomfortably hot. The thermostat was lying next to the radiator so my partner had to attach it. He also had to fix the shower as the head kept falling down. We didn’t arrive until 9pm due to being caught in traffic and were unable to get any food from the hotel. We were exhausted so we just went to the bar for a couple of drinks. The bar just closed at 10.30pm with no announcement. Was rather disappointing. Next time we are in the area will book a hotel in the town for the amenities. Breakfast was ok.
- Mick (2/5): Shambolic customer service. - On arrival the receptionist was arguing with a customer about them having no hot water. My daughter and I had travelled nearly 7 hours due to incidents on the motorway and she was having a very distressing period pains. I stated to the receptionist we had better have hit water as he was in desperate need for a bath and we had booked an Italian at 20:00hrs in Letchworth. She took payment but when we immediately checked we didn’t have hot water. I also asked for a quiet room but our room was next to the lift. I went down to query with the receptionist and she stated she was also acting as the deputy duty manager but when I told her she shouldn’t have took the money. She said they had been trying to fix it since early morning and now there was an external engineer on site it should be sorted. I asked what was the plan if it couldn’t be sorted and surely reasonable arrangements should have been put in place like some large industrial portable electric hot water boilers or them informing is en-route and trying to seek alternative accommodation. Hours later my distressed teenage daughter was sat on the bathroom floor in embarrassment waiting to leans herself. I went down again to the receptionist and she rudely hid in the rear and refused to answer as the previous customer was getting very annoyed. I went to get another manager and she said there was not a duty manager working and she would tell the duty manager on his return. We got hot water and 23:30.

- pauline (2/5): Disappointed - We arried on the 10th of December for my husband birthday treat from me only to be told that all of the facility's were closed to guest as they had hired the bar and restaurants out for private parties so we had to go out and look for food and drink

- Angela (6/5): Beautiful but tired - Air conditioner broken in room. Reported three times and no one came to look at it. Had to sleep with windows open but the laundry (I think it was laundry) was dumped and delivered there early in the morning. Pillows horrible on the bed. Hotel is tired although clearly a lovely building. Food was delicious but not massive choice. Breakfast lush!

The rooms are basic and comfortable however the air conditioning in our room was leaking and when we reported it to reception they told us it is old and it is fine!!The windowsill have deteriorated so would say the hotel needs renovating. Just would like to say a big thankyou to the lovely three ladies from shropshire who were staying there and offered to drop us off to the venue on Saturday evening whilst we were waiting for a taxi, sorry dont know your names but it is great to find such lovely kind people do exist in this world.

The breakfast the next morning was sensational. Plenty of choice, both cooked and continental. Hotel scores a 10/10

- Margaret (6/5): Think bad of staying again - I would probably give them a chance it looks like they have been only after opening up after covid , everything was over grown in the gardens weeds every where , mattress on our bed needs to be changed kept falling to one side on it ,view from window was terrible room 43 ,fire door kept banging all night but fair play to maintenance it was sorted when asked,mould on the ceiling in our shower also ,going to stop now

- Rob (2/5): So much more potential, unfortunately disappointed - We stayed in room 1, the Lytton suite, whilst the room was clean, it was odd in terms of layout with vaulted ceilings in every room, as 6’ 1” it was a bit awkward. The bit the let the experience down was the reservation confirmed check out at noon. However the maid let herself in at 11:30, after politely asking her to return after 12:00, a few minutes later another member of staff then came to ask us to leave. Despite advising our check out was 12:00 ‘she was doing as she was told’

- Sarah (6/5): Needs a bit of attention - Having stayed in many hotels of different standards for work and pleasure, this was a little disappointing. The hotel is very run down and needs a lot of updating. As you walk up to the reception on the outside all the windows are in desperate need of replacements, wooden and rotten in some cases. A window in the way to our room had all been smashed but instead of relplacing had a Perspex on the inside to prevent. Cold etc. The room old fashioned the bed was twin beds with a mattress topper to create a king and this was very old and sagged in the join. We had paid extra for more space and wish we hadn’t bothered. The bathroom had a bit of a stagnant water smell perhaps hadn’t been used in a while. Having worked in hospitality and events for a long time and perception is everything, and the phrase how you do anything is reflected on how you do everything. The staff could perhaps do with a little guidance on a number of things. The breakfast was actually not bad so the chef is doing a good job.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - we stayd two nights, and we really loved the size of the room, the friendlyness of the staff, but when we arrived in our bedrrom in the evening the second day, the bed was not done and the towels were not changed. i went and asked for towels and we made olur own bed, not a problem, the staff apologised but told us because of COVID, they would not enter into the gusets bedrooms. Apart from this incident, everything was outstanding, the food was delicious, staff very friendly.

- David (4/5): Gone to the dogs! - We booked premium rooms but i wouldn't want to see the basoc if these were an upgrade. Corridors dirty, staff struggling to cope in bar, kitchen also struggled to cope. I would say the staff did very well under the circumstances though. In general the hotel has suffered from the lockdown but Merecure need to spend some money. Stayed here many many times before over the last 7 years but will be looking elsewhere from now on.
