393prabaths (4/5): Bad Experience - The rooms were not tidy and once we went to have Dinner, the Buffett was over and we had to order from the set menu. we waited for the food in the restaurant and the waiter took the wrong order and we ended up in the room waitng for the food to be prepared again. it took another 1 hour for the food. Only the Housekeeping Boy Dilshan gave an excellent service.

Spider was hanging from the roof. I asked for drinking water to room service. But they didn’t send. Every time entered the room have to logging the Wifi repeatedly.
sriyanw2019 (10/5): Excellent Manger and Staff and Wonderful Hotel - My wife and myself really enjoyed our stay here!! We were visiting Sri Lanka from Germany. The Hotel is right on the beach. The atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful. We had a very comfortable direct Ocean view room with excellent Air-conditioning which we found super helpful when dealing with this extremely hot April temperatures in Colombo. The Manger Mr.Livera is extremely friendly, polite and super helpful!!! The staff are all very polite and friendly. The prices are also excellent. We highly recommend this Hotel for anyone visiting Colombo.
ASHIT (10/5): Memorable stay at Berjaya hotel - Location is fabulous as it's just opposite beach. Food is typical Sri Lankan which may not cater to everyone's taste. Staff are very cheerful n helpful. They have a swimming pool which is very well maintained. Rooms are hygenic n airy with balcony facing the beach. Would definitely recommend others to visit this hotel and experience an enjoyable n comfortable stay.

Stefan (6/5): Here you don’t get what you pay for - Rooms are nice. Fairly spacious. Beds comfortable. Good a/c. Easy access to beach. Breakfast is lacking in variety. Staff, while not unfriendly, are pretty nonchalant. Not especially helpful, which is unusual in Sri Lanka. This seems to be the attitude throughout the hotel. While the room was nice, the balcony was noisy due to the a/c unit which also took up nearly half the space. Made the balcony not very nice. In the bathroom the sink was very slow to drain and the toilet difficult to flush. All of this might seem minor until you realize that this hotel is more expensive than the historic luxury hotel nearby.

Niklas_Edenfeldt (8/5): A most enjoyable and relaxing hotel in a perfect location at Mount Lavinia Beach. - The glory days of Berjaya Hotel Colombo are over. The lack of maintenance has made the hotel shabby and the staff a bit unpolished. Today the management are targeting the Indian and Sri Lankan middle class. The hotel serve a nice Sri Lankan breakfast buffet accompanied by your choice of omelette and fresh fruit. Unfortunately there is one big drawback: They only serve hot water, Nescafé, tea bags and warm milk. BUT don’t let the fact that the hotel could do with a little love discourage you. Under the surface you will find a most enjoyable and relaxing hotel in a perfect location at Mount Lavinia Beach. I stayed here for a for a 10-day convalescence during an antibiotic course and tests in Nawaloka hospital. If you book from the hotel homepage you will get a single or double room on the top floor with a balcony facing the pool, the beach and the ocean. All this for under USD 50 (incl tax) per night including breakfast — a perfect option if you are travelling on a shoestring budget or looking for a long time stay in Colombo. Enjoy! // Niklas

The location is a highlight, situated directly on the picturesque Mount Lavinia Beach, making it perfect for beautiful sunset views and relaxing walks. They have an exceptional hospitality becuade the staff members were consistently friendly. Dining at the hotel was also a pleasure, with a train view and good food. ❣️

The service is friendly and good from the reception to the cleaning service. The room is clean, spacious and comfortable. There is a balcony facing the swimming pool and sea. Every day I can see the sunrise and sunset from the window 😍 The breakfast provided is also diverse with Sri Lankan specialties. Delicious. Some can enter the tongues of Indonesians. I like dhal wadi, prata, boiled manioc, fish curry and a kind of chili sauce made from coconut

Staff service was in another level. need to mention shiroma the event in charge one of the best and the honest person i have ever dealt with. Need to mention saman who was worked till event end give us all the support which we need to make guest feel so comfortable. ibspud (2/5): A farce. Misleading pictures, a train-line next to the hotel that starts at 4:30am and near a nightclub. - Arrived at the hotel and was greeted by friendly staff. We were shown to our room and this was when the issues began. - 1st room, filthy - literally wipe your finger across the surfaces and dust, toilet hadn't been cleaned, and holes in the bed linen. - 2nd room acceptable but the walls were so thin we could hear what sounded like the occupant next door coughing up their lung, to be fair couldn't really fault the hotel for the patron in the next room. - 3rd and final available room, which we had to accept was a twin… not ideal for a couple of a romantic getaway. It was clear that the website pictures were not taken recently as they did not do the hotel justice... not in a good way. Room service - we ordered 2 meals, one was the wrong meal completely, and the other meal, was meant to be lactose free (no milk, diary, butter products), however lets just say the supposedly lactose free Spaghetti Bolognese was a tad lighter and creamier than expected and unfortuatenly a few hours later medication was required. It was also problematic that there were some substantial communication barriers with the waiter, to such an extent that we had to request another member of staff from the front desk to attend and assist. Next to the hotel there is an active train line, which started very early in the morning (04:30) and there was a nightclub about 500m from the hotel. On one of the nights of the stay was open and was quite loud. I afraid of all the hotels/resorts where I've stayed, this is the first one which I would not recommend nor plan to visit again.

I checked a few other rooms as well, and all of them have a weird odor. The condition is not up to the mark, and the rooms clearly need renovation. It would be better if you could shift my stay to a different hotel, if that option is available. Thank you.
Inspire65491996990 (2/5): Would never recommend this establishment. Further a railway line runs right alongside the hotel. It is very noisy. - We followed the reviews on Google and were totally misled. Unfortunately we discovered that the hotel staff was using clients names and writing reviews as though the client wrote same. Worse still, they would give themselves 5 stars. This is not possible, because the hotel is run down, the room we had, was so outdated in respect of furnishings. The aircon was dripping water, the bathroom needs emergency cleaning and the cupboard holding the sink left much to be desired. The headboard veneer was bulging in places and the cupboard could not be opened for fear of it falling onto you. The kettle left one wondering about the general state of cleanliness at the establishment. The dining area carpet seemed to have not been cleaned in ages. The corridors lack ventilation. Overall I would give this hotel 1 out of 5.

Lee (2/5): - The hotel was a dump. Pool furniture broken, dirty, stained and torn. Pool towels dirty, stained torn & frayed. Shower filthy Curtain ribs broken. Air con units very rusty, leaking and noisy Trains going past all night honking their horns so no sleep. The photos of the hotel rooms etc were just lies. They were absolutely nothing like the real rooms. The hotel and Pool looked like it was derelict.
Ricey1 (2/5): A terrible experience - This hotel is a complete dump 1/2 star at best - certainly not 3 stars Rooms were dirty and stained, shower was filthy, aircon was rusty and noisy, curtain rails were broken. The pool was very nice but the sun beds were broken and stained. The covers were ripped and torn and the pool side towels were faded, torn and frayed. There were trains going past all night honking their horns so no sleep either. The photos of the rooms are false and look nothing like the real rooms. We left after 2 days of a 10 day booking

kelum (10/5): - Spend the days with verry delicious foods and the friendly staff who served us very professionally. Need to renovate the rooms and the entire property to attract more and more guests. I strongly recommend Berjaya hotel is a place to relax while you are enjoying the quality sapid meals.

There should be a chairman who is checking always inside and outside the hotel, restaurant, rooms etc The owners are in responsibilty for investing money in renovation ! Guests like this hotel. It should not come down and damaging.

Chris (4/5): We were not impressed - The pool but the pool bar not manned or equipped. The garden well kept. Good laundry service. The standard of cleaning and general maintenance needs attention. The whole place needs painting, it really did look shabby. The jacuzzi not working and overgrown. Pool side lunch took over 1 hour to arrive, when it did, wrong order. Tablecloths poolside dirty need washing. Kept awake by trains!! Tv not working fridge not checked and switched on.
ceylonexpeditions (10/5): Best Gala dinner at Berjaya - We had a gala dinner for our Singaporean 20 PAX group and we noticed the service was amazing by beach restaurant staff Kumara and team. The ac was leeking the last two days of stay. Did not like when the finished food plates were put on the floor of the walking passage even cats came and ate the remaining food on the same food plate. Use more air freshners to the bath rooms
Sally (7/5): Relaxing and quiet Sri Lankan style hotel - The location beside the beach provides attractive views and is only marred by passing trains (about one every half hour) but it is otherwise peaceful. An attractive private garden and pool. Easy access to the beach with beach cafes. If you are looking for a modern "western" hotel, this is not for you, but it is generally clean tidy and well presented. Most of the staff understand some English. Good range of local food at breakfast, I particularly liked the fresh fruit. Not enough "European breakfast food" eg yoghurt, cheese, and cold milk for tea.
831profa (10/5): Wonderful hospitality - The hotel is in a great location on the beach. The rooms have views of the pool and the beach and are comfortable and clean. The one thing that stood out at this hotel was all the friendly and helpful staff whi h for an enjoyable stay. Wajira had excellent customer service in the restaurant. Highly recommend.

chevinduw (10/5): Amazing meal with a peaceful view - Berjaya offered us the best egg sandwich meal I've ever had around Colombo. The restaurant also had a view of the ocean. The staff and Mr Sisil was also quite helpful. Would definitely come back. Also there was ample parking space behind the main entrance ramp which was really easy to access.

Krishna1970 (8/5): Scenic beachfront hotel with panoramic views - During our Sri Lankan tour, we spent a day at Colombo's Berjaya hotel, which accommodates budget-minded travelers with essential amenities. Strategically located opposite Mount Lavinia's beach, this hotel boasts an impressive size, stunning beach views, and a swimming pool. While staff were courteous, they were ineffective in resolving issues. Rooms were spacious but required enhanced maintenance, and bathroom cleanliness fell short. WiFi was inaccessible, although the restaurant offered limited yet satisfactory Indian cuisine options. Breakfast featured traditional Indian choices, whereas dinner options catered to diverse tastes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences.

Ashuk (3/5): Noisy hotel right next to train line - Nothing. Very old hotel that requires a lot of work. Inside the lift was very smelly and hot. Nothing mentioned about the hotel being right next to train line. Trains operates throughout the night and due to noise its hard to sleep.
