Guest Reviews
- Jodi (10/5): -
- Zhou (10/5): - Great house with beautiful island and sea view
- Glenn (10/5): Definitely planning to stay here again! - Loved our stay here. Spectacular view, comfortable warm beds. Cosy bedding, nice fireplace and supplementary heater.Well equipped kitchen. Nice large bathroom and plentiful hot water. Sunrise was lovely. Good parking and not difficult to find. No complaints whatsoever.
- Kevin (10/5): Perfect - Such a great place too stay.
Very comfortable so easy too stay.
Love the Biulding. Nothing
- Dareece (10/5): -
- Renee (10/5): Views. Serenity. Left us calmer. - Perfection. Stunningly aesthetic. Comfortable. Gorgeous views. Amongst nature (including chickens with fresh eggs on arrival!). Cosy fireplace. Great kitchen set up. Suited to couples (think romance!) or families with older kids.
Close to a few local cafes and the Bruny Is ferry. Check our the Art Sculpture Gardens not far from here. With little kids, was tricky with dinner options (we chose not to cook dinner) with the closest town about 25min away. The nature loo took a bit to get used to but such a novelty and environmentally friendly !
- YIH (9/5): Excellent and will surely return. - Excellent cabin with breathtaking views. Caution: it has a composed toilet.
- andrea (5/5): - The views are spectacular đ The long drop 'nature' toilet is gross.
When you're paying for breakfast, you're not expecting 4 rashers of bacon, 4 mushrooms, and a tomato on a plate in the fridge...
- Tlani (10/5): -
- Hilary (10/5): Magical - Location, the design, the supply of a tasty breakfast, the views, the stars, comfortable beds, Woodburner, great local wine to purchase
Everything! All perfect!
- Alexander (9/5): -
- Jason (10/5): Perfect thank you!! - Excellent facilities in every aspect possible! Absolutely nothing
- Bastien (10/5): -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - A place of serenity and relaxation, every want was catered for
- Lyndsay (10/5): Perfect stay - The property was perfectly located looking over Bruney Island. Quiet location and easy access to other areas to explore. Nothing
- Nikia (10/5): Exceptional - The fantastic views and the quiet was so bliss đ
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jim (8/5): Very good - Great location, fantastic views, interesting building, environmentally friendly design.
- Heather (7/5): Enjoyable, great provision of foods and fantastic views and location to travel to Bruny Island - Views were fantastic
Food - breakfast was superb with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, cereals, freshly baked in-house bread, etc.
Also provided things to buy as it was a bit away from shops. Composting toilet
Upstairs master bedroom with no bathroom facilities - wasnât ideal
- Stacey (9/5): Unique stay - The location was great, building was lovely and having fresh bread and food for breakfast in the fridge was a nice touch.
- Luckana (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed it - The views were exceptional Toilet bit primitive but it works
- Belinda (10/5): Fantastic accom with all the bells and whistles - plus spectacular views to Bruny Island - What a surprise ! We arrived to bread baking and a platter of breakfast food ready to cook in the fridge. This place was fantastic. Gorgeous accommodation along with fireplace and spectacular views out to Bruny Island
Wallabies grazing on the hillside beside us and chooks greeting us on our verandah !
Thanks to our hists who were lovely, messaging us before arrival to ensure we were all ready with an early check in Nothing could have been better for our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would stay again
One minor thing is that we had problems with the TV working but that was ok as we had the fire and the views to make up for it
- Jason (10/5): Had a wonderful stay! Highly recommend! - Perfect location, gracious host, fully equipped room and kitchen not a fan of the eco-toilet but was prepared
no wifi - again, was prepared and the cell phone reception is excellent
- Simone (10/5): Private paradise with warm offerings - Aesthetically pleasing , well organised , all the little things taken care of.
- Adam (4/5): We made our stay good but accommodation wasn't what we expected - The view of the channel was good Didn't expect a drop toilet, also if your right next to a road and houses directly below you you would at least expect curtains for privacy, also did not expect to be so close to the road or have a house just down from our deck that couldve been stated on booking website. Breakfast produce was nice but very minimal.
- Cathy (10/5): Stunning eco lodge with luxury spa - Beautiful location with stunning views. Delicious local produce shared and did I mention the views?! Delightful wildlife to see too! The spa was divine N/A
- Baptist (10/5): Exceptional -
- Russell (9/5): Superb -
- Kellie (10/5): The most relaxing weekend weâve had in a long time! - Stunning views in a quiet location. Cozy wood fire, comfy bed and the breakfast platter and fresh homemade bread. Loved our stay!
- Ian (3/5): Read the fine print and this review. - Valley and long distance water views were very nice.
One morning's breakfast was provided. There was a nice touch with a homemade loaf of bread waiting for us on arrival. 4 eggs, a piece of cheese, no butter, some jam and an avocado.
The area is quite pretty with lovely coastal walks but very limited activities. I can recommend the Overeem Whiskey Tour which is about 15 minutes drive away. It was sensational. House appears to have been built in the 90s or maybe earlier. Quite tired inside. No Wifi or cable TV. Very small TV with free to air only. Drop toilet was a surprise and the shower was over a spa bath which was challenging for me to get my leg into. Kitchen was basic, no dishwasher or oven. 2 x hot plates provided. Pans were inadequate and very old. No espresso machine or even a coffee plunger - haven't drunk instant coffee for 30 years!! Lounge was too low and uncomfortable. Bed was very low off the ground and mattress was very uncomfortable. Woke up with back pain most mornings. for the 20 or 30 somethings this place is probably ok. We weren't walking distance to anything. Surrounding area immediately around the house was not attractive.
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - Everything - magnificent location, incredible views, generous breakfast, loved having breakfast on the viewing deck, even the turkeys and chooks next door were sensational. Will stay again. Couldn't improve on this experience.
- Jane (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing - Stunning Beautiful view Fireplace was so warm and cozy. Our arrival , Eggs , Tomato and fresh bake Bread was so yummy. Wish stay longer! Nothing comment
- Alicia (9/5): Loved the location and views. Breakfast supplies were much appreciated. - Views were amazing, spacious and comfortable. Location was great. Morning sun was very bright coming through windows.
- Christian (10/5): Great spot! - Great design, great location, very serene and quiet. No Wifi / internet access so was a bit hard to plan cont. of travels.
- Sasha (10/5): Perfect weekend away - Location N/a
- Christian (8/5): Very good - The woodfire is always a draw card for me and a nice view, i like the high ceilings and the natural timber in the place, always love the smell and taste of the homemade bread on arrival. The bed would be ideal if it was raised a little ,but was pretty comfortable.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing property. Beautiful view. Loft bedroom and spa were definitely a drawcard. Ben was awesome, lighting the wood fire for us just before we arrived. Will definitely be back. Canât recommend this place any more highly!
- Jennifer (9/5): Relaxing stay in a beautiful location - Beautiful location.
Extremely comfortable .
Convenient location for Bruny island and Huon Channel .
Great hosts.
Would recommend.
- Brett (10/5): Just a wonderful spot full of peace and relaxation. - This spot was amazing. It was rather secluded, which my partner and I both loved and needed after some time spent in the more busy nearby city of Hobart. The provisions such as fresh baked bread, fresh eggs, juice and milk were all a nice surprise and we loved them as well. The fire and ambience of the space was exactly what you'd want after a full day of driving. Really do not have any complaints.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bridget (9/5): Superb -
- Elleena (10/5): Highly recommend this home for a getaway - Absolutely beautiful home and stunning view Ben and Mikaela were wonderful hosts
- Tamika (7/5): Good -
- Paddy (10/5): An exceptional stay, beautifully presented, great location (and views) - wonderful hosts. - We couldn't rate our stay any more highly. Great communication by the host and some great touches to include getting the fire started before we arrived and having a freshly baked loaf of bread in the bread maker on arrival. The studio is beautifully presented and the views just great. We loved it and thoroughly recommend Peppermint Ridge Retreat to anybody - especially anyone who appreciates efforts to be eco friendly. Thank you Ben. Nothing comes to mind.
- Burford (8/5): Very good - Quiet environment.
Wood fire including ample wood supply, beding, spa bath, the environment toilet.
The local wildlife. Television could be larger and updated.
- Reeve (10/5): Exceptional - Great spot and excellent service Nothing
- Scott (8/5): - Amazing views, comfortable and spacious.
- Tzu (10/5): Lovely place! - Fantastic view, cosy home and super host! Absolutely nothing

- Susan (9/5): Perfect - Loved it all, thank you Not a thing to dislike!!
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eleanor (10/5): Peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. - This place feels a million miles from anywhere, yet it's a short drive back to Hobart and a perfect spot for exploring Bruny Island and the the South East coast. Very quiet and great views. The balcony is ideal for wildlife watching. The beds are very comfy. This was my second visit and it won't be my last! The Woodbridge Village Store, down the hill, is well worth a visit.
- Graham (9/5): Superb - Warm open fire. Fresh baked bread and outstanding views. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay.
- Kelher (8/5): Very good - Loved the views and location and the free range animals Bed was too low
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - The view was fantastic.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Loved the interior with all its timber. Magnificent views to Bruny Island. Without a 4 x 4 found it difficult to get up the driveway to the top level.
- Terence (10/5): We had a great time - Breakfast was delicious Nothing
- Todd (9/5): Superb - The view from the property is amazing! Lovely large open space living area.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - The property was well set up with amazing views.
Ben was really friendly and helpful. And best of all we caught an Aurora.
- Priscilla (9/5): Great communication all the way through, great anniversary stay with perfect tranquility. will definitely be back. - Lovely complimentary items from care takers, great location, gorgeous natural landscape, unreal view. Lack of fly screens.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (8/5): Good place to return to - Outstanding views across the strait to Bruny Island, and if you have a car, good access around the whole area. When I ran into problems with a very late arrival, owners happy to accommodate me. And I loved the fresh bread they cooked. Bigger beds, although I slept in the second bedroom as the attic was an issue for my knee.
- Kim (10/5): Amazing eco resort, exceeded our expectations. -
- Giulieri (8/5): Great location and views. Great character property. - Great breakfast. Location and view were exceptional. The second bed was not comfortable.
- Esther (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brenda (10/5): Highly recommend this location. There was a lot of opportunities to see the local fauna- a bonus for us. It was also lov - Beautiful building well appointed. The views are stunning. Lovely first day breakfast was much appreciated. No Internet access here.
- Kristy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent facilities, wonderful host. Gorgeous views
- Terry0168 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jm1 (10/5): Wonderful, convenient place to stay with beautiful views, amazing wildlife and plenty to do. - The views are amazing and the building is designed to make the most of them. The property had everything we needed, beds were comfortable, wildlife is wonderful and we would definitely stay there again. We stayed three nights and found plenty to do in the surrounding area. Nothing
- Ross (8/5): Beautiful part of Tasmania - Location, views are sensational. Great almost "eco-style" accommodation. Loved the wood fire and complimentary breakfast and facilities. Very good communication from hosts. Girls were unaware they would be using a Nature Loo composting toilet (they're not everyone's cup of tea) but the boys didn't seem to mind. On a personal note, I loved the accommodation. Disappointed that some of the local businesses and activities were not open (we were there on a Monday and Tuesday)
- James (10/5): Lovely stay and would stay again - It was nice secluded location with views to water and mountain.
Good breakfast provision ready to be cooked.
Loved the fresh bread baked in the room. I think host put it on the timer for us and it was perfect. Nothing really. Yeh toilet was a but of a surprise but it's all about eco....
- Anne (9/5): A true retreat in pristine environment. - The smell of bread cooking when we entered the retreat was a first ever. We arrived in drizzly rain and never could have anticipated the amazing scene that opened up for us in the morning through the expansive windows. The view was superb. We also appreciated the open fire all set to go. The host was also very attentive. It would be good to provide somewhere elevated for the suitcases in the bedroom as there was a spider in my nightie the following night. Apart from that we had a lovely stay
- Ashley (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful location, fabulous studio, awesome brekky - Studio had absolutely everything we needed, very spacious, comfortable beds, super clean, fireplace all set up and ready to go with clear instructions, breakfast was amazing Nothing could have been better except perhaps some tomato sauce!
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (8/5): Lovely view of Bruny Island from the deck. - The view from the Berry Patch Studio was spectacular and the lounge was comfortable with lots of room. The shower of the bath was tricky for access.
- Daina (9/5): Quiet retreat - Quiet retreat
- Brent (9/5): We will definitely be back the accommodation was amazing and the views spectacular - Location was beautiful and view was amazing . Owners even went to the trouble of having the fire going for us when we arrived.. Nothing all was exceptional
- Kerri (10/5): I wanted to move in. And never leave! - EVERYTHING! It was stunning, relaxing, comfortable and seamlessly snug in nature. The animals all around and the stunning views were amazing. The hosts have paid close attention to comforts and also to environmental sustainability. Our stay was too short!
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Christine (8/5): Wonderful place for a relaxing getaway. - Breakfast inclusions especially homemade bread, a lovely warm fire, comfortable beds, amazing views, and friendly chickens. 11am checkout was appreciated. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Almost missed the driveway off the main road due to subtle signage. Thatâs about all.
- Scott (10/5): Outstanding - Absolutely love the place. The retreat is amazing and sustainably managed. The view is sensational. Couldnât have asked for a better place or more accommodating hosts. Hope to return one day to enjoy this place and to explore the area further.
Thank you đ Nil

- Sally (10/5): Unique property with superb views across to Bruny Is and chooks for company. - The imposing scale and unique architecture of the space offering views from every window. The self-catering facilities, generous breakfast provisions including freshly baked bread. The fireplace. The composting toilet, kitchen scraps bucket and recycling. The curious chooks with their morning visits and the possums with their nightly visits. Nothing

Rustic decor, with exquisite timber furnishings. Luxury spa bath, and the smell of fresh bread baking on arrival was sublime. Bacon, eggs, mushrooms for breakfast.
