Guest Reviews
- Brenda (10/5): - Comfortable and clean accommodation in Blackheath, ideal for family as plenty of room for children. Large rooms and fully equipped kitchen. Very good value for money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. The unit is in need of a deep clean. Very dirty. Bathroom mouldy. I wouldn’t stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was specious and the location was good. Was easy to get keys from hotel. Staff at hotel was really good. The property was not fully cleaned.
if I will stay there again, I will take small vacuum cleaner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good for the price. Nice quiet spot. Only thing needed possibly is a heater in the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the location of the property, its quietness and outlook.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good little hideaway, communication regarding key drop off would be good
- samara (8/5): Nice stay but bad sleep - amazing facilities except the beds which needs new mattresses.
Another thing noted the was wall mounted TV was too high so the visibility is poor.
- Rachel (8/5): - Could supply some small things such as tea coffee and soap. Otherwise all Good
- Verified traveler (6/5): Budget - Due to the age of the building not all windows shut. If the air conditioner worked well this would have been less of an issue during our winter stay. The air condition blew cold air more that warm and frequently stopped due to an error message. We ended up buying small fan heaters for our second night.
While the floor had been vacuumed prior to arrival it was also clear that the vacuum was not working well - with large amounts of hair and other dirt still stuck in the carpet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved it, great size and position.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Peaceful and close to everything - The accommodation was spacious, clean amenities, peaceful location and close to everything in the blue mountains.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The unit was old and in need of an upgrade. The place was very dirty. the freezer had old blood dripping in the door so hasn't been cleaned for ages. there was significant dirt etc under the beds. The pillows were old and smelly. The whole place needs some love and attention. Not all light bulbs worked. There was no handle on the inside of the bathroom door. no handle on the cupboard door. Luckily the heater worked well as it was quite cold when we were there.
- Renae (6/5): Great location, peaceful & spacious budget cabin. - Excited for a kid free weekend to hike the mountains we booked the cabin at a great price.
My husband and I arrived late at night and found it nice and easy to stop by the pub to pick up the keys, have one beer and chat to the lovely bar staff.
Immediately on opening the door we were overwhelmed by a horrible, mouldy smell mixed with what we thought was chemicals from the new carpet. We got used to it after about 1/2 hour and the next day we were able to air it out a bit and it wasn't as bad.
The other thing was that it was freezing and we were looking forward to lighting the log fire, however, there was not one. There was one gas heater in the kitchen area and as the cabin is quite large we didn't feel it was adequately heated. Thankfully there were electric blankets in the beds as it got down to -2 overnight and we slept welll.
The cabin itself is good value if you go with a group. Be prepared to give it a bit of wipe over as it was a bit dusty due to being an older place.
The good news is that the bathroom is lovely and newly renovated with super hot water in the shower. The outlook from our lounge & deck was beautiful and very peaceful and so close to Govetts leap and other world class trails. It is a nice little stroll to the village of Blackheath which we absolutely loved. A great Basecamp to explore the Blue Mountains.
- grandmother and (8/5): Family group - Great updated facility. Family travels to Blue Mountains for festival every year. Clean warm rooms and good facilities.
- Bob (2/5): No stay - Arrived at cabins, no reception. Rang number on documents asked to go to the pub to get directions. Arrived at pub got no help so a I rang the number again and stated that the company was unprofessional and told them we would not be using there " facilities".
I would suggest that lastminute.com.au remove this "business" from your website.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable late check in/early check out - There was no issue with late check in (9.30pm, our late phone call was still answered and we were given proper direction...), early check out (8am, were able to contact a smiley person...), much appreciated........
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We hadn't had exact address that took us 15 minutes to find where we have to get the key from.
- Elle (4/5): Old and dirty - We couldn't get past the fact it either hadn't been cleaned or had been very poorly cleaned. There was ash debris from the wood fire on the floor (we didn't use it), there were bits of other stuff on the floor throughout the accommodation and the bathroom had hair and dust balls in it. It's old and the appliances, furniture and furnishing are old and worn throughout, for the price it's definitely budget accommodation. We wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend it.
- Kellie (8/5): Wonderful weekend at Blue Moutains - Picked up key from New Ivanhoe hotel, decided to have dinner there was probably the worst food Ive ever eaten. Went onto cabins and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely setting, good hot shower, we would have like some wood for fire but settled for gas heater. There were extra blankets for bed so we were warm enough, mattress was very hard so I didnt sleep the best but my partner likes a hard mattress so he was happy. The next night a family booked in next door, the kids were running around and quiet noisy which echo through our cabin but I will definitely be going back to stay. Its not fancy but great value for the price and supplied most things we needed.
- Campbells (6/5): Weekend Break - These cabins are good value for money. We stayed for a couple of cold autumn days/nights. The gas heater was very effective. Large bedrooms - one with a single and a bunk bed and the other with a queen. The bathroom had been recently renovated. There is a great outdoor grass area for the children to play on - right out the front of two of the cabins - we enjoyed five o'clock drinks on the balcony watching over the children playing and a lovely view - at least from cabins 1 and 2. The kitchen facilities are limited but servicable - a little disappointing with mis-matched pot lids, no microwave containers and an oven door that didn't close tight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely location.
Cabins are very close to each other though, and when all we wanted was to sleep in it didn't help having neighbours up and about early making noise.
- Scott (6/5): A place to stay for those on a budget. - A disappointing experience. kitchen; bare minimum. carpet; groty. cobwebs on the ceilings, all over the place. Just needs a really good clean. butts left in the outside ashtray.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This was a nice and simple accommodation that had what was needed to cook, wash and sleep. Well placed near the major attractions, and away from traffic and entertainment noise that some places in Blue Mountains suffer from.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap and cheerful, quiet, close to Blackheath - The cabin is a great size for our family of two adults and 3 kids. Enough beds for everyone. Clean enough - found some rubbish underneath the beds though.
We booked for 5 people, but there was only sheets set up on the double bed, no sheets on the three kids beds. And we were only given two towels for all of us for the weekend.
The gas heater was broken - would not light despite numerous efforts.
But apart from that (first world problems) it was a lovely little place, it rained most of the weekend, and there was plenty of space for the kids to play, watch TV, and to relax.
- Karen (6/5): Nice location but dissapointing - We booked a birthday weekend away with the kids in winter. When we got to the cabin we were REALLY dissapointed to see there were no sheets or towels provided for the kids beds ! When I rang the owners, they said it was standard practice, but it was not mentioned anywhere on my Last Minute booking information !!! I later found out it was listed on the Blackheath Cabins website - which you do not even look at if you have booked through Last Minute.com. I was informed that linen and towels were avaialble for hire, but who want to hired things that we were expecting and should have been included???
Being in the Blue Mountains, it was really cold, which we expected, however there was only one heater in the cabin which heated the main lounge, but nothing in the bedrooms - they were freezing. Thankfully, although the beds did not all have sheets, they had electric blankets ! There was a combustion fire in the cabin and we were really looking forward to getting it started when we got there, as it was freezing, however, no firewood. Yep, you have to supply that yourself too. It should be noted that even when you are camping in a National Park or State Forest, there is usually fire wood supplied !
Overall the rooms were OK, but definately nothing flash. If you stay here during winter make sure you bring a heater for the bedrooms, as the temperature inside the bedrooms dropped to 1 degrees during the night.
- Carolyn (6/5): Close to everything - Basic facilities - bathroom has been refurbished. Gas heater ok - no ceiling fans to help push hot air around. Mould around windows because of moisture build up. Not all blinds adjustable.
- JD (8/5): -
I expect some bugs but not the kind and how many we saw.
