Guest Reviews
- Rebekah (4/5): - We didn’t get breakfast The check in process was bad no one knew how to check us in, assumed we would have our own bathroom but no. Bathroom floor was flooded with water. There was an old black piece of clothing in our room on top of a wall covered in dust
- James (1/5): -
- Kieran (4/5): Ok for 1 night stay. - Location to Freo center was great The name of the hotel had changed. So went looking for The Beaconsfield but it’s not called that anymore. Update to Bookings.com required
Also water all over the communal bathroom area where a leak needs to be fixed.
- Peta (5/5): Fine just to rest ones head for the night. - Location was great and the price was ok. Very noisy, could hear people walking up and down the hall and being loud. Booked a room for 3 people but the lounge that folded down into a bed had no blankets or pillows and the TV’s cord was cut. It was ok to lay ones head down for the night, but certainly room for improvement.
- Rui (9/5): Vary good - The place Cose place
- Irea (8/5): -
- Kimberley (7/5): Great value for money and easy walking distance (~1.5km) from Fremantle centre. - Great value for money. Room a good size and the bed was comfortable. No air-con so quite warm (there is a ceiling fan), and bring earplugs as it is quite noisy, being on a main road. Recommend to request rooms 8-12 as they face east so are cooler and are away from the noisy road. Room 7 has twin beds. Room 12 has two rooms, one with a double bed and one with a couch / small kitchenette. More cutlery and crockery in the kitchen - if theft is an issue, maybe give each room a set and charge a bond, and if there are missing items keep the bond? Also, the leaking water in the bathroom and shitty drainage in the shower.

Overbooked by 2 nights and got no refund, dishonest lyres still owe me $$ wound not recommend to my worst enemy

- Lawrence (1/5): Totally disappointed in the way they treat guests - It is heritage listed The staff treated me as a nobody that didn’t belong
- marianna (1/5): Upon arrival, we found that the TV in our room didn’t work, which was disappointing as we had hoped to relax and unwind. - The pub downstairs Upon arrival, we found that the TV in our room didn’t work, which was disappointing as we had hoped to relax and unwind.
The lounge area was in disrepair, adding to the unwelcoming atmosphere of the hotel.
There was a broken power outlet in our room, which made it difficult to charge our devices and not safe.
The button for the ceiling fan was broken, leaving us unable to control the airflow in the room.
The window had no screen and could be opened completely, raising concerns about safety and security.
The bed itself was broken, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep.
Dirty Showers and Toilets The cleanliness of the bathroom was unacceptable, with both the showers and toilets appearing dirty and poorly maintained.
Given these issues, we made the decision to leave the hotel that same night. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.
- Frank (8/5): - The place was really good, rooms, clean and comfortable and the staff were very nice friendly and helpful The wet bathroom and the Saturday that I and others were there the staff were rushed off their feet and it felt like they need more help.
- Ben (9/5): -
- Archibald (7/5): A week in Freo - It was convenient for Perth. The shared facilities were very basic.

- Scott (7/5): - value noise
- Codey James (4/5): - No AC, very noisy unit directly outside windows so couldn’t open windows for airflow, shared bathroom and toilet not very clean.. loud thumping fans in room only really blow hot air around.. disappointing stay.
Ordered dinner from the pub. Simple butter chicken loaded chips. Waited over an hour n 15..
- Dean (7/5): Good price and convenient location - Food and location Shared bathroom
- Dean (8/5): -
- Joshua (4/5): Was fine for a night - The beds were good They provided one blanket for two bed.
The showers didn't drain, the one shower in a private room with a lockable door didn't have a working light.
There floor made so much noise just walking in the hall way.
The walls between rooms were paper thin.
The room we had was powered by an extension chord that ran from an outlet out in the hall way.
- Rowan (8/5): - Our accommodation was pivotal to the event we attended during our stay. Water leaking over the floor in the communal bathroom. Please have a plumber come repair the problem.
- Edwarrd (8/5): - All of it, 3rd time I have stayed there!😁 N/a
- Carly (8/5): Good value, amazing food. - This is the Wray Hotel was the Beaconsfield back in the day. The accommodation while basic is good value and has a lot of potential. The Hotel is in a great location to freo and food and beverage is award winning. Would definitely stay again. No air con or fly screen on the window. Still priced appropriately and wouldn't stop me staying again.
- Amalia (5/5): - The pub, the food, the staff were great. The shared unisex bathroom and toilets.
Broken latch on toilet doors.
Tea and Coffee in room but no milk.
Couldn't watch TV because the electrical plug had been cut off the cord.
- Dylan (1/5): -
- Brendan (2/5): - Room 8 smelt like dried piss and they put me in the wrong room. I paid for an upgraded room and they only moved me after 2 days of staying in a single room and didn't offer any money back.
- moyo (4/5): - Customer service was ok No air conditioner, no functioning TV in the rooms

- Kiara (10/5): -
- Simon (5/5): Halfway to restful, really just a place to sleep. - The hotel food of an evening is very good.
The surrounding area is wonderful for a walk and it is close to the main parts of Fremantle.
The rooms and the bedding are clean.
Wifi is free. The shared bathroom facilities manageable but not relaxing or convenient to use.
There is a lot of noise from the road especially early in the morning and the bar downstairs during the busy times.
The room needs a lamp.
- Ibrahim (2/5): -
- Barradas (8/5): -
- martha (5/5): -
- Wendy (3/5): The men that where staying next to me and across the hall where partying and urinating out of the bedroom window. I was - Great location, close to the hospital where I had to go I was freezing cold as I only had a really light blanket
- Paul (2/5): -
- Brooks (8/5): -
- Grant (1/5): A horror show - Looked ok to start with The room was double booked and when I arrived someone was already in the bed . We had a discussion and I left. Have reached out to the hotel but they ignore me.
- Hugh (5/5): - On my first night in the middle of my dinner, I was told to vacate my table so the owner could sit there. They always seem to be a rushed close and want you out. They close the doors or whatever time they want.
- Barradas (8/5): - The fact that I can not have visitors at my place being just down the road. Makes it the perfect . ........location near the sea side and practically in the heart of Fremantle . Nothing . I think.its great they kept its heritage building cus it adds the whole.charscter to the hotel pub .
- Ward (8/5): - Shared bathroom
- Wilson (9/5): -
- Barradas (8/5): - Everything about it the actual hotel has kept the heritage architecture and it really gives you the sensation of back in horse carige era taking you back in beautiful decorated hotel relax and enjoy their delicious meals aswell The sharing facilities like shower and toilet was fine it's the no hot water for a while that made me hesitant to have shower other than that it was great
- Charlotte (2/5): Not good, no sleep, over priced - Staff were nice, the actual pub/restaurant was nice The room was cold, the blankets were thin, one thin pillow, beds not comfy. Very noisy guests and street noise, loose window was making noise all night and a bright purple light came on very early. Bathroom ran out of toilet paper. Got hardly any sleep, very overpriced
- Joseph (4/5): -
- Barradas (8/5): -
- Tina (1/5): Tired, dirty rooms with poor facilities. - Rooms were dirty, paint was cracked. Mattress had stains on it. Only 1 shower working in the shared bathroom to service all guests. The bedding provided was not adequate to keep warm. The fridge had a foul odour.
- Shannon (3/5): Basic, Unclean and cold - Staff were brilliant and the location was handy. This is the Wray Hotel, search online for the Wray NOT Beaconsfield, the latter will direct you to a scam site.
My 1 night stay
To describe the facilities as basic is an understatement. The bed was fitted with an under sheet and top sheet only (inadequate for 5°c) additionally, the ambient temp was the same whether inside or out.
The shared bathrooms were unhygienic.
Coffee, tea and cups provided, no spoon or kettle though.
- Jakob (1/5): Very disappointing. Pictures of the rooms are completely different. Poor customer service - I booked a Deluxe Queen Room, but the room I received was completely different from what was shown in the pictures. When I raised this at reception, the staff acknowledged the issue and advised me to request a free cancellation through Booking.com, assuring me they would accept it.
I followed their instructions, and Booking.com contacted them on my behalf. I also followed up with several emails, phone calls, and messages — but now, over a week later, I still haven’t received any reply or a refund.
Very disappointing experience and poor customer service. I would not recommend staying here unless you’re prepared for the unexpected
- Eryn (1/5): When you pay that much for a room, you expect basic toilet and showering needs could be met. Neither - Bed was comfortable, but no blanket or doona. 1st No sheets pillow or rug for fold out bed. Requested 3 times.
2nd No rug or doona for main bed, just a top sheet. (it is winter and no heating in the room)
3rd Ladies toilet blocked and full of vomit. Reported 3 times, was never cleaned up or door locked. It stunk!
4th NO, absolutely NO hot water. none of us could shower.
5th Fridge won't shut, it was broken. Had to throw our cheese and meat platter out.
5th Couldn't do room service because too busy. Went back upstairs to tell others. Agreed that one person would wait down there, but we couldn't be given a time. Then when ordered was told it's an old menu. It was in the God dam room!! I'm done. We went elsewhere for dinner.
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Clean, large room, good price and great location Staff a little grumpy and had to ask for bedding
- Florinda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Breen (1/5): Did not stay for the duration as it was extremely poor. - This is a very uncomfortable and unhygienic hotel. One filthy shared toilet for all guests both male and female, no toilet paper. Shared kitchenette was littered with mess. Room had no blankets nor did it have climate control and window didn’t seal, it was 8 degrees and I needed to wear all my clothes (three shirts plus jeans) to bed to stay warm.
- Lupton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (9/5): Superb -
- Beaumont (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (4/5): i will think twice about staying from here on. - didn’t know we could get breakfast, no one mentioned and since i last stayed there, it wasn’t a service. Arriving on a busy frenetic Friday night and not having anyone to help book us in after a long trip from Albany was quite dissatisfying and almost felt like punishment.
- Margerydavid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (7/5): Good -
- Harrison (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (7/5): What we expected and satisfied. - Did not have breakfasts Wet toilet floors
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Craig (2/5): Very poor - Food very good Lack of cool d
- Kirsten (1/5): Disappointing and bad ownership - The beds were fairly comfortable and the bar downstairs is really nice. The rooms were ridiculously hot even with the fan going. We had to open the window at night to get some sort of breeze but the noise from the traffic was so loud and nearly non stop all night, trucks and all.
Only 2 showers and all unisex and not clean.
After our first night we decided to leave. We went down to the bar to speak with someone as this was where we had to check in but no one was around. We then called Beaconsfield on the number though booking.com and it didn't event ring and said mailbox was full. No reply to emails or messages either.
We ended up calling booking.com who gave us another number to call, took our complaint and lodged this with the hotel. Some guy answers, no introduction or anything and he said the duty manager starts at 10.30. We had to go out to interviews so asked him to get the duty manager to call us as we would be be back till around 1pm. Never got a call back.
Got back to the "Hotel" and spoke with the duty manager who just essentially works at the bar. She was super helpful but hadn't heard from booking.com. We called booking.com again who tried to call them as we were on the phone but there is no correct number as they are calling the Beaconsfield where the hotel and bar are actually called the Wray.
After another 2 hours of waiting around and talking to another manager, we were granted a refund for our remaining 5 nights.
We received a confirmation for this, then 2 hours later after we had left a second notice saying it was now agreed with the property to be less than that, essentially charging us a second night due to the time we left that day which was out of our hands.
All in all, don't book here. It's a far cry from a hotel and terrible.
- Joanne (8/5): Nice place to stay and had a lot of character and the staff were very friendly. - Our experience at the Beaconsfield was very good, the staff were very friendly and obliging which made our stay great. The only thing I would suggest is Air Conditioning, otherwise was no problems.
- Jonathon (4/5): Disappointing - Location. Room was clean and spacious. Free parking. The room did not have air-con. Thankfully it wasn't too hot and the fan provided sufficed, but during the heat of summer this would be a problem.
The rooms and shared facilities are quite old. The shared kitchen was full of dishes.
Checking-in was quite awkward. It wasn't obvious where to go to, as there was no check-in desk or front of house we could find. We went to the sports bar and then the restaurant and awkwardly waited around for quite some time until someone finally came to check us in.
- Shadforth (10/5): Exceptional -

- Pedler (8/5): Very good -
- Mariska (5/5): Nice staff and clean room - Nice staff and very clean I was not aware that it was such an old hotel or what shared toilet means
- Kerry (7/5): Surged its perpose - It was not Beaconsfield when we tried to find 🥴🥴🥴
