Guest Reviews
- Ross (9/5): - All fabulous 2km from town
- The Hong Phong (8/5): It was pleasant and comfortable to stay here - The rooms were clean and comfortable. The playground was good enough to keep our kids busy. The kitchen was full of amenities. We were not sure about the cleanliness of the water in the spa. There was no instruction on whether we should change the water or not.
- FreeIran (10/5): -
- Sara (10/5): Great location for a short getaway - The house has everything needed to ensure our stay was comfortable and relaxing
Wow the swim spa was fantastic
Very happy Nothing comes to mind
- Courtney (10/5): Wished we’d stayed longer - Beautiful home in a great location
- Sheila (9/5): - Very clean and well appointed Nothing
- Paulette (8/5): - Location was quiet and private Spa bath in bathroom wasn't working
- Kerri-Anne (10/5): Loved our girls weekend away. Perfect location and peaceful. - It was peaceful, clean and felt safe. Also a great location. Didn’t find anything we didn’t like. All I could come up with was maybe more towels for use in spa and showering.
- Brian (9/5): Very comfortable property close to some memorable locations - A very well equipped well proportioned house. A very minor point was that the downstairs shower had a spray leak and walking legally to the nearest beach was a challenge.
- Seona (10/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Our long weekend stay far outweighed our expectations - The huge spa pool was a delight clean, hot & privately housed in a sun room.
The house interior was a great layout with huge bedrooms, exceptionally dressed, bed linen white & crisp, electric blankets too but never needed as the gas heating was exceptional! Drinking glassware & crockery perfect! We loved our stay & will recommend it to our friends & family. Definitely 5 stars + Being a wet weather weekend the step leading to the house porch were pooled with water so a little tricky & potentially a slip hazard while gaining access to & fro. The steps need to be adjusted to allow water run off.
- Meredith (10/5): Quiet, relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. - Great house in excellent location. Perfect for our family group. Swim spa was a big hit as was the playground with the younger ones.
- Maree (9/5): - Lovely comfortable villa. Swim spa was a wonderful bonus.
- Maria teresa (9/5): - La casa y la ubicacion fantastica El suelo de la cocina y baño estaba pegajoso
- Peter (9/5): Port Fairy is a beautiful town. - Comfortable lodgings and the jacuzzi Limited privacy due to four rental units on land.
- hind (10/5): -
- Ilka (9/5): Having a slight disability I would found that the downstairs bathroom should maybe cater for people with a disability ex - The cottage was beautiful, close to Port Fairy in a really nice area and very quiet the swim spa was fantastic the fire was great especially seeing it was chilly The beds were to hard to sleep in even the ones upstairs
There was to much chlorine in the spa, but did enjoy it
- Wayne (10/5): The stay was memorable made our long grand final weekend - The home was presented in immaculate condition and there is nothing that could be criticized
It was a most enjoyable stay and I recommend this property as a must stay if you are planning a trip to Port Fairy
The spa was sensational and like the home could not be faulted
Will definitely be back There is nothing about the property that could be disliked
- Mark (7/5): - Condiments for breakfast was a nice touch
Boys enjoyed swim spa
Clean inside Beds were very hard
Exhaust fan clunking in bathroom
Limited heating
- Sally (10/5): Excellent place to stay - loved the swim spa and everything was so clean and lovely nothing
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Di (8/5): Loved the stay 4 women perfect - Birthday celebration 4 women so accomodations were perfect being 3 bedroom two shared.
Kitchen lounge dining area great for us.
The spa was huge and the absolute highlight on a cold Port Fairy weekend. We were in and out all weekend and at 38 degrees it was great. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): - The house accommodation was ideal for our family. Plenty of room and just a short drive to the centre of Port Fairy shops and restaurants.
The large grounds provided privacy and the large spa was an added feature.
Highly recommended.
- Belinda (9/5): Peaceful and comfortable - Very quiet , was well supplied Spa had heating issues so only managed a dip when it was a hot day
- Jarrod (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kym (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amandeep (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was fantastic, so inviting. The house also included everything you could possibly need during your stay and more. We especially enjoyed the large spa and playground the children had a fantastic time, perfect for a family vacation
- Muzhda (9/5): Very cosy and comfortable - The house was very cozy and had everything we needed. The heated spa was good too.
- Caruana (10/5): Great house - We enjoyed our stay at Dunes. We were two families with young children. All the comforts of home and more. The swim spa was a bonus. Very clean and comfortable. This was our second time at this house (Third time on the property). And we are looking forward to our next visit already.
- Angela (10/5): - Everything was amazing at this property. Wish we had stayed longer. Communication was fantastic. House was amazingly clean and had everything we needed. Port Fairy is a beautiful area. Definitely visit again. The swim spa was a welcome relief after a long drive. Thank you Michael and Theodora 😀
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Very pleasant and comfortable. Quiet and well-equipped. Bed was comfortable. Spa was lovely.
- Aaron (9/5): Wonderful property, clean and comfortable, would stay again. - Quiet location, but easy drive to town. Great accommodation and spa. Instructions on how to use some of the facilities.
- Grahame (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (10/5): Just perfect … Thank you - Truly stunning house, Didn’t want to leave, had everything you could need and more!! I have nothing to say… Nothing I didn’t like, it was a dream.
- Peter (10/5): - Long weekend trip from Melbourne. Arrived on Thursday night to a warm property with the fire on. Large swim spa was nicely heated, some places have them too cold. Property too big for the two of us and so we just used downstairs but would be great for a family. 15 minute walk from Time and Tide high tea which was an amazing experience. 30 minutes walk into town. Waves crashing in the distance. Property on a quiet plot in a nice neighbourhood surrounded by a few little cottages. Very clean and everything you need to relax. Communication from Michael superb all the way through. Get it booked if you’re heading down there.
- Claire (10/5): Highly recommend! - Beautiful clean home. My husband and I stayed here in Winter and the gas log fire kept us very warm, comfortably heating the whole house. Lovely large warm indoor swim spa, which we made use of whilst enjoying views of the stormy weather and sunset outside. Very enjoyable stay!
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Lindy (9/5): Perfect family getaway - Fantastic villa, perfect for family getaway with swim spa to entertain the kids & us! Enjoyed the BBQ provided & espresso coffee machine. Kitchen was very well equipped. Lovely bed linen & gas heater was very warm for the cool nights.
- Supply (9/5): Fabulous - Great property with plenty of thought gone into all the little things that make a stay really comfortable - plenty of kitchen utensils, sharp knives (!), butter, Vegemite and jam satchels, olive oil in the pantry, block-out blinds in the bedroom, comfortable queen beds, laundry detergent & pegs ... the list goes on! The owners are doing a great job - highly recommend it. Nil
- John (10/5): - Very charming cottage.
- Tomcmaher (7/5): The stay was enjoyable with good facilities in a nice township. - The house was clean , well furnished and well laid out and had a friendly atmosphere to it. The dishwasher was excellent. The spa was good. There was no signpost at the start of the lane. The bbq gas bottle was empty so couldn't be used. The gas cooktop ignition didn't work so was initially difficult to use.
Suggestion: the gas cooker could be replaced with a portable induction cooktop, Perhaps this could lead to eliminating gas and becoming an all electric house.
Walking access to local beaches was difficult .
- John (10/5): Perfect for our needs and we really enjoyed the for hot spa after golf at port fairy golf club - The accommodation was excellent for the four staying (my wife and I and two female friends). I organised the stay and our two friends were extremely happy with the Dunes. Our friends were used to quality accommodation and thus were able to do an accurate and honest critique. There were no negative issues
- Anne (1/5): Definitely would not recommend, stay closer to town and beach. - The property provided adequate toiletries, pantry items were salt, pepper and olive oil only.
There were clean sheets. The fact that 4 bedrooms were advertised, there are only 3. There was no sofa bed, it was only by my foresight that I brought an air mattress and extra bedding just in case the 4th bedroom only had a fold out sofa. I had to sleep on my own mattress in the living room. This is not acceptable for a property that claims luxury 4 bedroom accommodation.
The owner was rude, when we had an issue with the glass sliding door, he was more concerned about damage to his door than assisting us with a solution on how to open the door, threatening us with locksmith bills and that the door was a hermetically sealed door, which it is absolutely not. It is an average sliding door that sticks and is hard to open. Also was concerned that we were damaging his property by having stored our inflatable kayaks in the pool house. Perhaps he thought we were using them in the ‘pool’, a toddlers blow up toy would hardly fit in it let alone a full size kayak!
The location of the property is too far from town, the photos are misleading, the photos of the kitchen are not of the actual kitchen it is of the kitchen in the next door house.
The walls are very thin , not well insulated, it is dark and hot and stuffy upstairs.
The pictures make it look like the laundry is in the property, it is at the end of a long driveway.
If you are considering staying here, check the location carefully it is not walking distance to any beaches and not conveniently located near the Main Street of Port Fairy.
There is a quiet sound of the beach but certainly No views of the water. It is a glorified cabin park. The icing on the cake is that the ‘pool’ is a slightly oversized spa that was very grimy around the edges, not sure how often it is thoroughly cleaned?
- Mal (8/5): A very enjoyable stay - Lovely and quiet
- Julie (10/5): - This 3 bedroom cottage was just so well stocked with everything you need. It has a wonderful laundry on site and all in all a great stay. We were lucky enough to meet the owners of the property which made is a very warm personal experience. The swim spa was a lovely addition to the facility. The owners will be brightening up the cottages gradually as the one we were in was a little dark inside but great condition inside.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (7/5): Good - Close to then suited our visit I advised the gas heater need service and the tv Ariel was damaged and banged all
Night no one advised that they received these items
- Natalie (6/5): Not a summer property, come to snuggle up inside and read in winter. - Large bedrooms, really comfy beds, coffee machine and dishwasher, spa in the bathroom and the swim spa was excellent. Lots of excellent glasses and mugs, cutlery and plates and bowls, all the cookware you could ever possibly need. Awesome toaster and the oven and microwave were brilliant. They had butter and tomato sauce in the fridge as well as olive oil, salt and pepper - awesome, so didn’t have to bring those things. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space in bedrooms. Couldn’t see the ocean at all except two tiny bits from upstairs window, no privacy when sitting on balcony, very stuffy inside and dark, not enough benchroom in kitchen or in bathrooms. Lipstick kiss on door in one room - icky, hairs in drawer and stuck to hair dryer. Floating hairs and hairs stuck on edge of swim spa. Just thought the fine cleaning wasn’t done properly (for the expense of the property).
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leigh (10/5): Highly recommend this property - This property was fantastic...comfortable, very clean and the swim spa is amazing.
We'll be back
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Caruana (10/5): Perfect family cottage - We loved the comforts of the cosy cottage. All amenities were provided and much more. The spa took our getaway to a whole new level. This was our second time at this property. First time at this house. We look forward to returning again in the future. Nothing
- Faye (9/5): Very enjoyable - Better Toilet paper
- Eddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pohyeng (10/5): Must stay beatiful & clean villa! - cleanliness, top quality of everythg, warm pool & beautiful house!
I hv been travelling to so many places and i would say this is the best ever homestay! All the things provoded are in top quality & sparkling clean. the bedding is comfy too. we were like checking into a 5 star hotel. plus, i love uaing the classic gas stove! it's Rare!
btw, i made a mistake on the payment & Michael did let me continue my stay while settling the issue. appreciate it! Nothing at all
- Casper (10/5): - Swim spa was amazing!
Very nice cottage that is very well and thoughtfully appointed, which made for a very comfortable stay
- Katrina (10/5): Perfect winter or summer getaway with everything you need in a great location. - Fabulous winter getaway with a great warm and relaxing swim spa, wonderful gas wood fireplace with snuggle blankets on each couch and cozy warm beds. Everything you needed was waiting for us including beach towels for the spa, condiments for breakfast and all the kitchen things you need to cook a great meal. The location was close to town, close to the beach to watch the sunset and did l mention the downstairs bathroom with a two-person spa and wine glass and candle holders!! We had the best getaway. Nothing, we loved it all
- Piers (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Loretta (10/5): fantastic - having to end our stay and go back to the real world
- Kemp (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this accomodation was amazing! Such a cosy, homely feeling as soon as you walk in. The spa was lovely to sit back and relax in. This property is a real gem 💎 Having to leave!
- Gerard (10/5): Nothing to fault about our stay at Dunes. The location was perfect. Villa was so spacious. We’ve never stayed in accomod - Very spacious, clean, location perfect, spa pool
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (9/5): Fantastic place to stay - The house was amazing, so big, comfortable and well stocked with equipment in the kitchen. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows were a little hard for my liking, so one was more than sufficient for a good night's sleep. The bathrooms were big and the showers a good size. We loved the rack with the wine glasses over the bath! The spa pool was great - an area at one end for bubbling and relaxing and just enough room for a short swim to the other end. Theodora and Michael were very welcoming, and The Dunes was ideal for sightseeing in Port Fairy and slightly further afield. We really enjoyed our short stay. Whilst the house was quite clean, there were items that seemed a little sticky, such as tops of tables, but a quick wipe over sorted this out.
- Louise (10/5): perfect - everything nothing
- David (10/5): - Very nice large accomodation with a huge spa
- Colleen (7/5): Good -
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shridhar (7/5): Nice and cozy - House was spacious and well maintained, the spa was nice and warm. The owner or managing lady I spoke to wasn't so courteous on the call to guide us get into property when I called for help. We all were tired travelling and was raining and her tone was so unwelcoming was such a bummer otherwise a great place to stay.
- Julie (10/5): - The place was awesome, clean, well supplied, felt so comy, great spa, could say nothing negative about the place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique, little cottage on a large open area of land. Well equipped unit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - property was well maintained and its a perfect place to spend with family & friends!!
- Lynda-Maree (10/5): Road Trip Stop - Great family stay coming from the Great Ocean Road on our way to Adelaide. Fantastic location to break up your trip and have a lovely nights rest
- Kenneth (10/5): - I liked the automated check in service using the touch screen. Only suggestion would be to add an instruction to "turn" the open key box button. Not easy to see the turn arrow on the black button.
- Kristin (10/5): - A lovely separate cottage with privacy with all the amenities you need for a stopover.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property was very clean and comfortable.
Self check in did not work.
Shower rose in the one shower in the cottage was rusted and broken making it impossible to have a proper shower.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was a bit tired. Bed was comfortable. Not much around the property. Good for one night.
- Mr R Cook (6/5): Spa bath check to see it’s working before you book - We booked this accommodation because to had a payable spa pool. When we arrived it was not working. It looked as though it had been out of order for some time. Can you ensure that those wishing to book this accommodation are informed BEFORE they book. Accommodation needs updating internally but we note it is up for sale.
- Daniel (8/5): - The location is great as it is quiet and very relaxing. Our stay was short but thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Wayne (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Belfast cottages. Our grand children really enjoyed the playground right outside our cottage. Our only concerns were a lack of dish towels as there is a sign asking for lodgers to wash and dry dishes after use. The only towels we could find were in the dryer in the laundry. We took one and used it but thought there should have been some in the room.
- RONALD (10/5): - Amazing setup.most enjoyable
- Kong (8/5): - Nice and cosy cottages, with children playground area and BBQ pit.
- Jennifer (8/5): comfy as home - comfortable and well appointed, well fitted for self catering.
- Yitka (10/5): Our favorite stay on GOR - It was our favourite stay on the GOR! We were met by a very friendly and personable owner who showed us to our magical cottage. We immediately felt that we stepped back in time. It looked like something out of fairy tale. The lovely cottages are set in a picturesque surroundings of a green fields. Interior is very tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. The cottage is well appointed with full cooking facilities, plenty of storage, roomy bathroom and very comfortable bed. As a bonus you can watch sunset from the property.
Our only regret was not being able to stay longer!
- Alison (8/5): Cute cottage - Great little cottage. Everything is there for your use. Comfortable stay
- Patrick (10/5): - Great little cottage everything you need in a cosy place. Quiet location easy check in and out. Laundry was a bonus for travellers
- Lee (10/5): Excellent place to stay! - We found Belfast cottages a perfect place to stay for our family.
It was spacious and quiet and the cottages are fabulous and beautiful and clean. The kids playground was great and our 3 kids loved it!
We will be back!
- sean (6/5): a so so home stay - fortunately we only stay a day there. the laundry is sapareted from the cottage. its have to drive to close restaurents and convinience shop.
- Blanca (6/5): stop over - Stop over
- Deep (10/5): The cottages seem to be out from a fairy tale - To put it simply it was great. A lot of thought put in minor details.
- zan (4/5): The cottages were quaint and comfortable - The cabin was quaint, clean, comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. However... shower did not work properly and bath towels should be replaced. The self check in was fine but felt for the price per night the use of the spa should be included. (Like most other hotels!) Disappointing as this was the most expensive night of our 6 day trip.
- garry (10/5): - We were made to feel so welcome. The cottage was everything that we hoped for.
