Guest Reviews
- Merry (9/5): Outstanding value for a short stay near Buller. - Great location for Buller or surrounds. Basic but comfortable accommodation and you can't beat the price. Dinner at the Hunt Club Hotel over the road was good and the discount voucher the motel provided for that was a nice bonus. Plenty of parking, good communication, cafe/basic shop on sit (though we didn't use it). It's basic accom, but fine for a couple of nights stay and great value. If I had to pick one suggestion for improvement: we were in a 2 bed (so 1 bunk) room. The bathroom was actually quite large for the room size, but with almost nowhere to put anything. A few more hooks, a shelf or two and/or a small table would mean guests wouldn't have to just dump toiletries bags, change of clothes, etc on the floor. A small thing, but also a pretty cheap to do upgrade that would make a noticeable difference.
- Pauline (10/5): Short and sweet visit very comfortable and value for money - I turned up late and it was so easy to check in and I had the best nights sleep. They also had lovely take away food and coffee for sale in the office.
- Lyn (8/5): -
- Brett (10/5): -
- Jay (6/5): Pleasent and acceptable for price - Location suited activities hair in the drain, bathroom sink tap loose
- Dixon (10/5): - The little River down the bottom The motel has been commercialised by mt Hotham making it be closed at night and having no locals
- Ben (8/5): -
- Niwa (10/5): Wonderful such a beautiful place on the river - Close to mansfield and merrijig pub
- Ajay (10/5): - Environment All good
- Pam (9/5): Unexpectedly luxurious. - Lovely peaceful setting. Large well equipped family room - recently refurbished kitchenette and bathroom felt more like a five star inner city hotel. Great shower! Minimal toiletries, no face washers provided.
- Angela McDonald (5/5): Probably would source alternative accommodation next time. - Location, comfortable beds, quiet location. Small room with 4 beds, not well appointed for 4 people spacewise. Reception shut at 4pm and we didn't arrive until 5pm. Tried to open the window and it fell out!
- Anderson (10/5): -
- Zahid (6/5): - Location. Cost. Staff. Facilities. Access Beds and pillows were not to our comfort level. My wife and I had very disturbed sleeps and had neck pains in the morning. Everthing else was great and we were happy with them.
- stephan (9/5): great value - Great value, spacious and friendly reception
- Lorry (8/5): -
- Rachel (6/5): - It was close to the trail ride Too small
- Dani (7/5): Recommend. Low cost accommodation close to Mount Buller, nice peaceful location and handy to everything. - Location, price The lights inside are really dull, it was hard to see inside and we had to bring camp lights in.
- Stuart (8/5): Enjoyed my stay. Will stay again - Location and breakfast. Staff friendly Bistro was closed when I was there but only short walk to pub. No top sheet on bed.
- Donna (10/5): -
- Denis (7/5): nice spot great staff but room to small. - the outlook and people the small room it wasn't big enough for a double.
- Gary (7/5): - Bunk Bed is actually placed the wrong way. The safety barrier should be toward bathroom not the brick wall. The possibility of falling out of the top bunk
- Rebecca (3/5): - Good location Bad showers, really hot or really cold.
Mattress and pillows very hard.
- Zander (8/5): Good value for the long weekend - The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Price was good for a relatively last minute booking. And were receptive when we brought some issues with the room to their attention. Car parking was a little crowded and tight to navigate.
- Estelle (8/5): Very homey, staff were very kind - Good view of the mountains, easy to access Parking near the rooms
- Tanya (7/5): Only stayed overnight so quick visit - Clean and tidy, comfy bed The room was RIDICULOUSLY small, not even a spot to put your suitcase.
- Mcgarry (9/5): -
- Liz (7/5): Great location, clean and comfortable rooms - Quiet location close to Mt Sterling, clean and comfortable room Could not contact staff when air conditioner remote batteries flat. Luckily had some spares.
- Michelle (9/5): - Neat, clean and quiet. Everything i needed for a short stay Nothing

- Jon (10/5): Great place, convenient will definitely come again. - Everything that was promised about the service was delivered. Very friendly staff too. Odd thing, not sure what sort of build was in the light above the bed, but I reckon in a pinch I could have toasted bread in it. What sort of bulb is that ?? š
- jing (10/5): Overall great! - great locationļ¼ water tap is a bit old. Hard to turn on /off.
- Gerard (9/5): Very good and pleasant staff. I would certainly come again. - Did not have breakfast here. Nothing.
- Garry (8/5): -
- Laura (7/5): Overall, the Merrijig Motor Inn was clean with spacious family rooms and the staff was accommodating - The family room was spacious and clean, great location to Mt Buller and the local pub. The whole motor inn was well maintained, and the staff were extremely friendly. We would definitely return and recommend it to family and friends There were no power points on the longer side of the kitchenette bench. The power board was located near the microwave, close to the sink, and therefore, there was no room to have both the kettle and the toaster running simultaneously. It was extremely dangerous and hazardous as the electrical appliances, as well as the power board, were in too close proximity to the sink and water. It's a serious accident waiting to happen.
The TV located near the bunk beds does not work as there is no antenna connected; there is only a DVD player, which allows you to use the TV. There is also no way of streaming to the TV. This is a little outdated, as no one really carries DVDs around.
Saturday, early morning, the smoke alarm went off while we were all still asleep and scared us; we later found out it happened across the motor inn.
Wished that the restaurant part of the facility offered more dinner and potentially breakfast options due to the scarce options for food within the area.
- Paul (8/5): Great value, solid place to stay - Easy check in. Good room. Nice location. Value for money Needs a little bit of painting, room 10 electric blanket control broken. Some outdoor chairs old.
- JOY (10/5): - Perfect place to stay
- Shokat (10/5): -
- Guest (10/5): They were very accommodating when I needed to change the date due needing fine weather to carry out my work. Very friend - Lots of parking for my ute & trailer Nothing
- TONY (10/5): Perfect stay to explore the region - Spotlessly clean, comfortable and peaceful
- Glenn (8/5): Very nice place - Clean and comfortable Small room
- Julie (9/5): - Great location. We were late check-ins and the staff gave us good instructions to access our room. Comfy bed There was no soap in the shower - I used shampoo to wash myself! It would have been good to get some breakfast in the morning but the cafe didnāt open till 10am!
- Simon (8/5): -
- David (4/5): - The location by the river at Merrijig was lovely. The room was in poor repair. There was no air conditoning and only one window of four had a fly screen. So iit ended up being a warm stuffy room. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work, the tiled soap tray in the shower had been smashed off. The soap dispenser over the basin in the bathroom was empty. The exhaust fan in the kitchenette did not work. The tap in the kitchenette dripped unless turned off with force. The lighting was very dim and one bedside lamp didnt work. The smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night bit turned itself off after a minute or so. Reception opened at 10am and shut at 4pm which means you are unlikely to see any staff to help. The whole motor inn could be great again with a generous refurb.

- Daminda (10/5): - Spacious
Value for money
- Muhammad (8/5): -
- Mandeep (10/5): -
- Russell (10/5): -
- Rahul (5/5): - Location is way far from town centre but still okay for a day break. Rooms looked clean. Kitchen and utensils were clean. Toilets didn't have lock
Dinning Area closed way before time
Fire place was not lit up, really bad
Dinning area closed way before time
What's the point of having pool table when they close the area way before time.
Horrible service in clothing store. Most of the shoes were worn out and have holes in them. We had to search for clothing/fitting by ourself. We had to look for clothes by ourself, really bad. Boys were not helpful at all.
- peter (7/5): Liked my stay overall, but not happy asking for $50 security deposit - Location excellent 6 days after my departure $50 security deposit still on my bank statement It should be taken off directly after room check when I leave. To have to wait 5ā10 days for it to be sorted is bad policy It might be good policy for the hotel but not good for guests

- Stuart (10/5): High quality accommodation, and a good price - I think this text all right boxes at this place for great value of money. A nice atmosphere in front of the fire at night and a clean modern and comfortable place to rest. I highly recommend this place for people looking for a simple off mountain accommodation.
- REZEL ANNE (10/5): -
- kate (10/5): - Perfect spot for a trip to the snow. The rooms are clean and comfy and with everything you need. A very charming option :)
- W (6/5): - Easy check in and check out.
Close to the mountain and Mansfield. There was chewing gum stuck next to the door frame and on the curtains. Which was disgusting.
It didn't looks like the bathroom had not been cleaned properly as there were little hairs in the shower and on the floor in the bathroom sink.
No option to turn off the wall heater, means i slept with the aircon and window open to let air in. Was good being winter but a hot sleeper, so option to turn off heater would of been lovely.
- Dr Benjamin (10/5): Great stay. Will be back. - Great location and very comfortable. Rooms are very noisy though. Luckily we had quiet neighbours.
- Victoria (7/5): - Location was great. The staff were great Not very good soundproofing.
Utensils weren't clean. But staff took action straight away.
- john (8/5): -
- Kate (9/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): - Great place to stay while visiting Mt Buller
- Jade (8/5): Can not go past the customer service, all staff so helpful, friendly and professional. - Rooms spacious, everything you could need for a short stay included. Kids beds very comfortable. Top bunks didnāt have a bed rail. Shower hot water runs off the same service as other rooms so temperature changes constantly as other guests use water too.
- Scott (9/5): -
- Louise (9/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Location.
- Chris (8/5): -
- le it (10/5): -
- Claye (8/5): Convenient, cosy, reasonably priced. - Conveniently located not far from Mt Buller, was cosy and comfortable and for a reasonable price. We locked ourselves out of our room and the emergency phone number on the door was wrong (had been wrong for some time according to the poor woman who now owns the number). Luckily the window on our room was not secure and we were able to climb in.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Carena (9/5): Love the portable electric stove & conventional oven & modern bathroom. Super warm :) -
- Angela (9/5): I loved it for what we needed for a night, just a shame about the beds as was tired - The room and facilities were great. Very clean and modern. Only issue was the beds are hard and uncomfortable, so we didnāt get a good night sleep.
- Wing (8/5): -
- Wing (8/5): Great place to stay if you donāt want to slay on the mountain. - Convenient to Mt Buller. The rooms were warm and comfortable.
- Nina (7/5): Very comfortable - Staff, cleanliness, welcoming, value for money The heating would have been better with a thermostat, it was too hard to regulate and in the end became too hot.
- Mary (8/5): -
