John is super nice and friendly and really makes you feel home. Depending on your room, the barhroom may be too far away if you tend to avoid the stairs (there are too many, our room was located in the lower floor and the bathroom was 2 floors above, so we had to climb 2 floors to go to the bathroom).

Good directions to find the place, stop 4 off skybus then walk up the hill, same side of road, Macquarie Street. Good to us even though our flight at night arrived late having been delayed. Generous breakfast options. Nice communal dining spaced including Cafe area. Tourist information also. Just personal taste in some art, too many masks, one PNG tribal mask seemed a bit spooky.

As a plus size person I could barely fit in the shower and certainly couldn’t move to wash myself properly. Even my average sized partner found it small.

- Merete (10/5): - We felt very welcome and the attention to detail was exceptional. The kitchen was stocked so that there was something for everyone. The lovely eclectic furniture and comfy bed, made with beautiful quality linen, made it like a 5 star hotel but with loads of personality and charm. Just a bit far for us oldies to walk the 10 minutes to the port but the taxi ride was just nine dollars.

The room was warm without an obvious source of heat. The sheets were crisp and the pillows comfy. A small bar fridge and kettle with tea and coffee were welcomed. There was a lot of dust. There was what seemed to be common a kitchen and dining room, but we didn't know it we could use either.

Great to have use of the guest kitchen when we needed to. 20 min walk into Salamander markets The traffic noise. Personally not used to busy roads.
- Catherine (5/5): Relatively low cost for a single stay, but don't expect too much. - It was conveniently located near my destination for the next day. The kitchen facilities were okay, though the continental breakfast options were a bit limited. I wasn’t sure whether breakfast was included because I’d paid extra or if it was available to all guests, and clearer information would have helped. The same goes for knowing what food in the fridge was accessible for guests. The cookies and fruit were fresh and appetising, with instant tea and coffee. Brewed coffee available in the early mornings, only. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean, which I appreciated. Overall, I’ve realised B&Bs might not be the best fit for me—I prefer the space and anonymity of a larger hotel. The single room itself was quite narrow with more furniture than needed, so felt crowded and a bit claustrophobic for me. Being right on the corner of two busy roads, the car noise was noticeable. There was no airflow, and I couldn’t see a designated outdoor area, which I did look for, hoping there was an accessible garden to or balcony. A large room fan provided appreciated. While the heritage building held some charm, the inside spaces are laden with dark furniture, and lots of it. It is a fair walk from shops and restaurants, so stay here if it suits your budget, but don't expect to be in the main buzz of town.

Breakfast options were completely adequate, being toast, spreads and cereal, plus some fruit, juice, coffee and tea, so this is not a complaint, just an observation. I also understand that the limitations of the kitchen set up do not allow for cooked options. So this is the only expectation that I had which wasn't as imagined.

- Coreen (10/5): Convenient location and the stay enabled us to swap tips with other travellers. - John's hosting skills were excellent, he regularly checked food supplies, had coffee at the ready and was always helpful and friendly. The communal breakfast aspect of interacting with other travellers in the kitchen made for interesting conversations. The kitchen was generously well-stocked. The location was an easy 20 minute walk to Salamanca Market.

- Steven (5/5): Basic lodgings in Hobart - More like student accommodation than a b@b, though the common kitchen was useful and well equipped, at least if you were on the ground floor Ok for back packers or one night stays I suppose Room, smallish in a sort of annex which was very hot in the daytime ( not even at the height of summer) when the main house was cool. Theres is a ventilator but it made too much noise to be able to sleep with it on. whole house is in need of renovation. Not the most comfortable mattress Dodgy electric ponts In view of these comments it was overpriced

- Deborah L (10/5): Quaint B and B Not far from the Harbour - Off street parking is around the back. Only short walk to the wharf area. Short drive to good restaurants and supermarkets. The owner is welcoming and helpful. The breakfast on offer is simple and healthy. Our room was lovely, airey and bright. The bathroom was very clean and quite large. We would book here again. The property is an older 3 storey building, so be prepared to climb stairs. No elevator, so not good for children nor those with a disability. It was suggested that we wheel our cases up the hill alongside the building to the front entrance. Then, it was easier to reach the top floor. It is on a very busy street, so parking a car out front is not permitted.

It is an old house full of character with furniture that suits the house, so not modern. It is on a very busy road so you will hear some traffic noise. Old bathroom with shower over bath. Stairs to reach your room.
- YANJU (10/5): - 很有年代感的老房子，屋主是一个笑眯眯的爷爷，早餐像在家里一样，就是品种有点差异，主人很细心，竟然准备有泡面，生抽之类的。位置也很好，可以徒步感受霍巴特。
