Guest Reviews
- Christine (8/5): - I love the location the motel is when I remembered it back in 1997. I believe it has alot of potential if it were clean and well maintained. I don't mind staying at the motel by myself but not ideal for babies because the carpet needs to be replaced with a new one.
- Ursula J (2/5): - Our room was broken into in the late afternoon while we were out not impressed . Contacted management of the motel. They were sorry to hear that but didn’t send anybody over to fix the back door. They offered us a refund for the night. We had to find more accommodation for us that night great
- Andrew (10/5): - It was a nice place to stay and close to everything
- Marge (10/5): - Great for family travels. Got kitchenette to cook and enjoy meals. High speed wifi and generally the room was clean and tidy when we checked in.
- Verified traveler (4/5): DONT Stay here - Had to cut my stay here short and go somewhere else. There are bed bugs, and the overall room was not clean at all. Did not feel safe at this hotel. Nobody at reception and when i called to complain they never picked up the phone. Will not be staying here again
- Lisa (8/5): - It was very easy to find and easy to get to. Self parking was great. The cleanliness of the room was a big let down. Beds were clean, but pillows were very uncomfortable and misshapen. Lots of things in disrepair or broken and nit repaired.
- Bernadette (8/5): - Very clean inside
Quiet
Pool - dirty on bottom
- Vanessa (8/5): - Close to Southbank, public transport & river
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Probably one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Room was dirty. Bathroom still had a dirty washcloth in the shower. Door lock didn’t look very secure. Great location but that’s about it. I had stayed here several years back but it has really gone down hill. No reception. Don’t answer the phone. Double charged me for my booking which I have had to dispute with my bank.
- Happiness (2/5): - We did not expect to have no onsite management which turned into a total disaster as we were locked out of our room more than once. Over for a wedding and the bestman left his wallet in the room while the taxi was waiting he triedtried to reenter ourthe room & was locked out. Took an hour & a half for anyone to come let us hin in. Ruined the reception as his Brother had to start the celebrations without him at his side as Groom. We would never stay here again because of this issue. We felt that when we were first locked out the issue should have been addressed immediately. The location is great & it's affordable but not worth what we went through. We also had another guest there who was meant to be at airport & was locked out of her room. Thewaiting for to check in
- Breanna (10/5): - Clean and quiet functional room.
- Timothy (4/5): - This is a tired 2 star motel in need of a major renovation.. The small loud air conditioner took hours to lower the temperature of the room to a liveable state on a hot Brisbane night. At $120 a night you might embrace the shortcomings but at $240 all I could do is laugh at my poor choice. Too many issues to name but at least the sheets were clean and there was hot water in the shower. Ear plugs reduced the noise of the labouring air-con to sleep inducing black noise. The online check in with the need to provide much too much personal information was unusual but the key code on the door worked first time. The photo attached says it all. On reflection I give it one and a half stars.
- arihia (2/5): NEVER stay here - Has no office attendee, even at 8-9am.
Stayed one night only because it was late. First impression very dated. Used air con for half an hour or so, thought it was giving a musty smell off so switched off. Awoke on a very uncomfortable bed to a smell of something rotting or sewerage, further detection it was from the bathroom. Some mould on ceiling and some tile grouting. The smell made us nauseated and headachey
Went to discuss with Manager who conveniently had left after i informed the cleaning lady (who was no help & couldn't be bothered) We checked out and I am still waiting for a response after 2 days.
- Alexander (2/5): - This place is so bad that we left after the first night; we were planning to be there for two weeks. Prefered to pay again than staying there. I'm working with my credit card to get my money back. Horrible place and dishonest management advertising something that is not true.
- Allan (8/5): - THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS VERY NOISY, BUT THE UNIT WAS CLEAN AND TIDY.
- Karl (8/5): - Self contain room
- michael (4/5): - This is a no reception venue and need to check in on line if you know how
- Tim (4/5): - Based on many recent 5-star Google reviews, I decided to give Paramount a go. Very impersonal. Door keycodes intermittently work. Curtain doesn’t even cover the window width. Crudely installed in-wall air conditioner blanketed in thick dust and missing filter and cover - which were both left (uncleaned) in kitchen. Plumbing leakage in shower. Internet router with bright lights on bedside table.
If this wasn’t bad enough, I revisited the Google reviews, not understanding the 5 star descriptions. I cross matched the 10 most recent reviewer names with names of “virtual assistants” (call centre support workers) - based in the Philippines - who are contracted by the motel owner. Their LinkedIn profiles proved that employees of the company that managed the motel actually generated fake reviews to artificially boost the accommodation rating.
The Brisbane motel number and the “hello” email address simply diverts to Cebu in the Philippines.
So much for being “consistent, quality and local” [byline of management company Facebook page]!
Upon raising all of these issues to the owner of the management company, I was told that my emails would no longer be read and that I had “an axe to grind”. I simply asked for a full refund, nothing more.
The matter has been formally lodged with Queensland Dept of Fair Trading.
- Gary (8/5): - Budget price good, location very convenient, good parking. Old building but comfortable and affordable on low budget.
- David (10/5): - Liked the room and location
- Cassandra (2/5): - No milk supplied for coffee and motel staff unresponsive when I raised this. No shampoo only two conditioners. Such a late check in with no flexibility on check in or check out without huge fees. Bed really uncomfortable as well as pillows
- Joan (8/5): - I found our stay to be satisfactory to our needs. It was central to parts of the city we wished to explore.
- Don (8/5): - I didn't like the multitude of emails sent post booking. Surely a lot the information provided can be reduce to one email.
I also did not like the door lock system. Very difficult to see numbers in low light times of day. Lock also located at my waist level. Had to kneel down low to see relevant numbers to push.
Had difficulty providing ID and personal details online. Could not access system as the phone number registered in the system was not current. Had to call up to get assistance. A very stressful and time-wasting process.
No formal receipt provided online. The so called receipt provided had minimal information.
- John (4/5): - The stairs were very steep bordering on illegal. No lighting in passageway arrived back 9pm .Car park 20 was being used by some one else worried all night about being in unallocated car park.Light in bathroom just kept flashing when you turned on terrible.Other tennant kept opening and shutting doors all hours of the night.I know this sounds like a whinge but all is true .I am a registered builder the stairs are bordering on dangerous.
- DAVID (8/5): - Location good, and, if in a rear room, quiet. We were told "Block P, Apartment 19". There was no marking of any block, and another resident simply said "try room 19". The secure access a good idea, but the height of the lock combined with the small numbers (there were 7 of them) made access fiddly. No marking for a car park for our room number. Only one mug, one glass and one teaspoon in room.
- John (10/5): - Nice and clean and located in good area as in walking distance to everything
- Michael (8/5): - The motel was conveniently situated for what I had to do I didn’t get in until late but everything was straight forward for me too get in the room thank you
- Kerri (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay here after a long drive and being at hospital It was lovely just to pull up and park Make a coffee have a shower and just relax Bed comfortable Clean towels shampoo conditioner body soap Also tea coffee. I did like the fresh cold water available in fridge Close to Princess Alexandra Hospital Would totally recommend
- TERRENCE (4/5): - Was not a very clean unit .
Getting access code to unit was a night mare
- shannon (2/5): - Tried to get into room at midnight passcode would not work tried for over half an hour. Could not get any help from motel . Had a guest from downstairs try for me he could not get in.
Now, they are trying to say i was putting a passcode in incorrectly, so they dont have to refund me my money. Would never stay here again Disgusted
- David (10/5): - Property was nice an close to the mater hospital
- Anita (10/5): - I love all of it
- Melody (10/5): - Close to public transport and big space
- Karen (6/5): - Had not received room code so had to call at 3pm to get it. No milk in the room so unable to have tea or coffee.
- James (6/5): Clean and tidy - Room was clean and tidy. Facilities were adequate but becoming worn. Automated keyless access with no management on site was problematic. Good location with transport options close by
- Kune (10/5): Awesomeness! - Awesome stay thankyou. Room was great, nice and clean, comfy and a beautiful quiet space. Thanks so much for having us, we will be making this our spot in the city.
- Julie (4/5): - This place needs a complete renovation. Everything is old. The linen on the bed was clean. The fridge was dirty and our food froze overnight so we had to chuck it out. The check in was all done over the phone and we had to give out personal information which we were not happy about. The person we spoke to was in the Philllipines. I would not recommend this motel to anybody and I will not be coming back.
- Felicity (10/5): - Loved it an can’t wait to stay again
- Vicki (10/5): - It was clean, comfortable and great value for money
- Henry (8/5): - Location it being close to everything, space in unit.
Wish check in could be earlier so could rest before early events.
- Keri (6/5): - Very old not renovated from 70s or 80s era.
Old crappy cabinets .
Basically clean but kind of dingy with very old air con in wall.
Fridge not very cold. No reception at all. Had to sent ID ahead. Code input in dark to get in.
Didnt ask if i could climb stairs . No handicap access. Parking was too far from my unit and long walk to unit .in the dark. Lights on stairs or outside room not working at night only on next morning
- Brenda (8/5): - All good but some minor maintenance needed. Glass shards on main room floor, in second bedroom shower taps very tight and shower head leaks, whole tap in sink comes off sink when turned on and bathroom door doesn’t close.
- Anne (4/5): - The shower in the room is as dripping all night, presumably they knew it as the shower head was upside down and dripping upon arrival. The hairdryer didn’t work as the PowerPoint was pushed in/ broken. There was as not full curtain coverage in the second room either.
- Elizabeth (2/5): Smelly and uncomfortable - Checkin is online, you have to download an app and even after that I still had to call them. It was all very complicated and inconvenient and took much, much, longer than the 3 minutes they promise, more like 15-20 minutes. There’s no reception or staff on site. I wasn’t expecting much from a place at this price point (this was a last minute booking and there wasn’t much available in that area), but I do expect cleanliness and a basic level of comfort. I got neither. There was a crusty, mystery stain on the middle of the carpet and the room smelt really awful. It smelt of sick tbh. I had to spray perfume everywhere but it didn’t work because what was causing the smell was still there. It looked like a very basic clean had been done in so far as whatever the stain had been had been scraped up, but no proper clean had been completed. Then again, it might have been something else causing the smell. It’s a mystery I wasn’t inclined to investigate too closely. No staff on site to help with this and presenting a room to a guest in that condition is not on, no matter what the price point. To top off the experience, the beds were like lumpy concrete. Needless to say, we got no rest. Never again!!
- Sara (10/5): - Had a fabulous stay.
The rooms were lovely.
Could use with a good deep clean.
- Dan (8/5): - Close proximity to the Gabba
- Joanne (2/5): - Location was the only thing going for this place. The Motel should be condemned, the room was dirty. The Air con sounded like a truck, the carpet was filthy, we had no hot water in the shower, the TV only half worked, the bed was just about to fall to pieces, paint was falling off dirty walls and ceilings. This is the second and last time I will book with wotif, each time the pictures don't fit with reality.
- Tracey (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay
- Gaetane (6/5): - The accomodation was fine. The checkin process was painful.
- lesley (2/5): Unpleasant experience and stay - I have to say I'm really not happy with the room. It is dirty. There's bits and debris all over the floor, the kitchen work surfaces are not clean. The aircon is full of dust and above the head of the bed. No lights in the side lamps. The fridge is dirty and there's mould or debris on the shower head, a used rasor in the shower and not even a working toilet roll holder.
- Hayden (8/5): - Quiet straight forward accommodation
- Stevie-Lee (10/5): - Nice clean and spacious room
- shelley (10/5): - It was just right place to stay.
- Aaron (4/5): - Very out dated motel , probably wouldn’t stay here again
- Andrew (6/5): - Great location. Staff friendly. Easy to book and extend. Convenient for city. But property is average to poor condition
- Wendy (8/5): - I liked the location of the room away from the busy road and the cleanliness.
- Joanna (8/5): - Much older building, amenities are also older but has what you need. Note, stairs only up to second level apartments. Overall relatively comfortable motel for a night or two. We attended a wedding in the city so location was very good.
- Trevor (6/5): - It was clean but the check in was a bit confusing. The room looked like it was a storage room with no access to window.
- Kevin (6/5): - Was ok. Not too bad for 1 night.
- Brenton (6/5): - Location was good, clean and convenient, but the facilities out-dated, bathroom/kitchen need make over.
- Sarojini (6/5): - Over all ok. But didnt like the deposit for damage $100 and the check in at 3pm.
- MARIANNE (8/5): - Easy, clean and good value
- Johnny (6/5): - Quite neighborhood, easy excess to city , shopping and takeaways.
- Bronwyn (6/5): - Great property for the Gabba, walking distance and the
Pineapple Hotel across the road is fabulous.
IGA on the corner is handy and a nice river walk to
SouthBank. Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Only negative is keying in code to enter room when you first check in as they are very sensitive and no one can help you as there is not check in. We eventually got it and others also had trouble and can be quite distressing.
- Jenny (6/5): - Tidy but difficult to access room and air con didn’t appear to work
- Alex (8/5): - Was a beautiful room and well kept area, could have done with staff to help at the service desk and to speak to a human. Could do with better sinage to show it, we missed it twice.
- Karly (8/5): - I didn’t know there was going to be 24 stairs to get to our room because the day before we were due to check in, I sprained my ankle and had to walk up very steep stairs using crutches. The room was clean but dated and the bed wasn’t that comfortable and I wasn’t very thrilled that I had to put down a $100 deposit when I’d already paid for the room, I couldn’t really relax knowing that I had to either keep the room clean or have time to clean it prior to checking out. Not thrilled about having to have a code for the doors and a non contact checkin, I’d rather speak to someone on arrival and get a key or a swipe card
- Caron (10/5): - Property was nice and tidy, though aircon didnt work and when i stripped the bed (just trying to be courteous) there was a huge blood stain... Dude needs a bissell..... Apart from that it was a good stay and would stay there again. Was very difficult to organise early check in and late check out..
- Jacinta (8/5): - Was only an over night stay and was efficient enough for myself, partner and our baby
- Verified traveler (4/5): Frustrating - Bathroom light stopped working, called to get it fixed, was promised it would be someone on it the next day. There was however nobody coming and we stayed without a functioning bathroom light for 2.5 days! At least I got to speak to customer service several times! :D
- Julie (8/5): - It was a clean and tidy large room but the things in it was needing replacing
- Lorraine (4/5): - I know this complex was very reasonably priced so I did not have high expectations however air con did not work. This was reported and we were provided with a old small fan heater. TV had sound and no picture on some channels. Tea, coffee and sugar provided but no milk. Check in is poorly structured with 3pm checkin, as opposed to others being 2pm, and only after email. I had to phone after 3pm as no email had arrived. No complaints about cleaning staff on site as they were friendly and did their job well. I will not be rebooking in the future however.
- Jana (10/5): - Great place to stay, had everything you needed for a self contained unit
- Cindy (10/5): - Great location, very clean, nice and quiet.
- Ken (6/5): - Did not like the room entry system. Nice big room but outdated. No cleaning staff and no office.
- Kate (10/5): - We had a great nights sleep. Very comfortable. Disappointed there were no tea and coffee making facilities though.
- Nathan (8/5): - Great value. Easy stroll to Kangaroo Point cliffs for beautiful sunset
- Kate (2/5): - I didnt get to the place till 6:40 pm on the 20th september ,, rhud horrible lady called AND spoke to me in that rude of a manner . And as i didnt remember the date of the booking she snapped at ne snd bruptly told me i shouldnt bother to come if i dont know what the address is becsuse i should know the address because i booked the hotel. Not to mention it was a month ago to date thst i booked the hotel
- Lorries (6/5): - Noisy
- Simon (10/5): - Super comfortable with great friendly management and the perfect location!
- Debbie (6/5): - Need to clean drains to stop the smell. Internet could b better
- Verified traveler (8/5): - .
- Kerry (8/5): Spacious, Convenient and Great Value - This is an older style motel but the rooms are really spacious, with a separate kitchen, bathroom and a large living/ sleeping space. The staff are lovely, the parking really convenient, pool lovely, all clean, quiet and very convenient. We were attending a function at the Pineapple Hotel so it was directly over the road and so convenient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Didn't like the long access stairway. Rooms were comfortable and clean, good shower facilities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The reception staff were really welcoming and friendly, the rooms were a little old, but very clean and the bed very comfortable. A short walk to the Gabba and plenty of places to eat out close by. Great value!
- Norm (10/5): EXCELLENT - The pool is nice and secluded, rooms are clean and comfortable - and the staff are wonderfully helpful
- Norm (10/5): EXCELLENT STAFF - I stay about 150 nights per year, in hotels and I must say this place has a really excellent staff, who have a CAN DO attituded. Rooms are rooms, but the staff make it supreme - and this is truly the case at Paramount. Very helpful, friendly, and nothing is a problem
- Regina (10/5): - This venue is value for money. Close to the Gabba. close to the Pineapple Hotel and close to a river cat to go into the city. It has kitchen facilities therefore you can cook your own meals. We have stayed twice now and if we needed to go to the Gabba would not hesitate in booking this property again.
- trevor (8/5): Gabba footy - Comfortable and clean great location friendly staff
- Barb (10/5): - Great introduction to our life in Brisbane Awesome location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location friendly staff good facilities easy access to laundry and pool areas
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, close to where we had to go,
Well stay again
- James (8/5): Good - Wonderful location. Good pool
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easily accessible and great location. Older style motel, on site parking, no noise, comfortable and very large room. Exceptionally friendly and helpful hosts. Highly recommend.
- Matt (10/5): 1st class 5 stars - Fantastic place to stay, I rang & said I was expecting to be late check-in & nothing was a problem at all, even recived a call asking if all was ok.
- Matt (10/5): My go to place to stay - Room was huge with super comfy bed and awesome shower. Staff are fantastic, friendly and the whole experience was seamless easy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We booked this motel due to its proximity to the Gabba. For this purpose it was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and well located. Excellent and friendly reception staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Has a pool and laundry on site. Rooms are fully self contained and staff are very nice people. That said, curtains were very dusty with a visible layer, microwave oven turntable was non functional but microwave still worked. Bathroom tap was dripped constantly but closing the door stopped noise. Any complaints are minor and I would stay here again, happily.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, so close to the Gabba to watch AFL games.
