Guest Reviews
- Susan (8/5): - The location of this property is excellent, it was clean and the kitchen fairly new. It was quiet and comfortable. The only negative is that there were no basic extras such as tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper, etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Heating was excellent ....
WiFi very weak
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and quiet townhouse positioned well between town and the look-out. Easy access and great amenities.
Katoomba is a wonderful spot to spend a weekend and wander around.
- Alex (8/5): - Huge house for the price of a motel room (even cheaper). Also great location!
- Nadia (6/5): - The townhouse is quite spacious and laid out well, good facilities, works well for a short stay with children. Not the most comfortable main bed.
- Allison (6/5): - The location is fantastic with undercover parking. However there is NO STOVE OR DRYER & no broom or bust pan & brush to clean minor messes. The cleaning details of the apartment were LACKING especially in the corners of the bathroom room, window windowsills & blind along with a built up of dust under the single beds one has a brick to support it & I found a receipt from June 2019. There was also mould spores on the windows due to condensation. It really needs a full cleaning detail especially in current climate.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The accommodation was very good it was spacious and not cramped the heating was good coming back to a warm place the only issue was that the fridge wasn’t working properly the freezer was over freezing and the fridge section wasn’t cooling bought milk Friday for the weekend and buy Monday it was like gluggy but I would recommend it any way
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is close to views/lookouts and Katoomba town. Basic but clean. Value for money.
- Justin (2/5): - Check in was very confusing. The unit was very poorly cleaned. There was somebody else’s underwear under the bed and food scraps etc... Not Happy.
I would never stay there again and would NOT recommend to anyone.
- Sarah (10/5): - Absolutely loved this place. Very family friendly, great location. The host was wonderful.
We’ll definitely be staying here again with the family.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good central heating and a very comfortable bed.
Kitchen was nice and new but hardly anything in it to cook with.
- Lyn (10/5): - This property is self contained, quiet, good location, good value for money. We have often stayed here and will do so again.
- MARTIN (10/5): Atractions nesrby and lovely town.nice chalets. - Katoomba is a lovely town snd the Town houses are right close to the three sisters Mountains and sky park lovely are to be good choice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location and price, very clean. Poor communication and delayed check in because of mix up with the cleaner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was very quiet, comfortable and conveniently located. Upgraded kitchen but no oven. As I say it was comfortable but does need upgrading . We would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The locaion was great, very peaceful, nice space & convenience
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great location between the town of Katoomba and the sites of the Blue Mountains. The suite was dated but clean and all we needed, bar a few things missing from the kitchen set up that would make it difficult for a full family (luckily there were only two of us). Wifi was paid for per day. No instructions for check in - had to call ourselves to find out where and how to get into the property and service on the phone was quite rushed and unwelcoming. Otherwise happy and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Comfortable older style property well located to local attractions
- Verified traveler (4/5): 2nd and last time I'll be staying, thumbs down - Loved it first time so returned for the last time. Arrived to spending close to an hour on phone to owner/host trying to get hot water and heating fixed. Got hot water, no heating. Advised nothing they are going to do about it. Only option was refund (6pm on a Friday night and everywhere else was booked or triple the price due to late booking and a railway shut down that weekend) or go buy a heater ourselves which we did.
Won't be returing for our railway works accommodation here. Host was soooo put out but us wanting hot water.
Owner came out Saturday during the day while we were at work and got heating working, it was freezing at Katoomba that weekend yet they turned out heater off once they fixed their heating but only left it on 21 degrees?!?! So we came back to a freezing room still. Just no idea, and they had no right to turn our heater off and leave theirs on a cold temp as well.
Only reason they got 1 smiley face rating, was for the local area and proximity to work site, which is why I booked the place.
- Bellamy (10/5): Will def stay again when up there for work/leisure - We stayed for weekend shutdown works at Lawson. It was perfect for us, would stay for work or travel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved our stay at Katoomba Townhouses. It was on a quiet street close to the town centre, the Three Sisters and Scenic World. It was affordable stay for our family and hope to come back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet, clean and spacious. - Appreciated the space, kitchen and laundry facilities. The unit was clean and the kitchen had all the basics to cook with. Queen bed is firm to sleep on. Good heating including electric blankets. The couch and chairs in the lounge are not comfortable to relax on.
- craig (8/5): comfortable little rest spot! - The rooms were comfortable and clean. It would have been nice to have met a person face to face instead of having to phone in for the door code, but that's just a personal preference.
Overall a great little place and will definitely stay again when in the area.
- Jaya (10/5): Home away from home - This the 4th time we have stayed at this property and this unit is my favorite from the 6 available. Very neat and cosy with all amenities. Great value for money and so close to echo point and the mighty 3 sisters. Highly recommend. Thanks for allocating the unit we requested.
- michelle (8/5): Spacious but could do with some changes - Arriving half hour early I could see the cleaner was still attending our room. Drove I to town which is very close by and returned after 2pm. Sheets clean, generally tidy however it really needs a few good hours of thorough cleaning which I don't think the cleaner is given. Things like dusting, vacuuming, cleaning walls etc would make such a difference. The vacuum in the townhouse is terrible and has no power and I had to use a hair clogged dustpan and brush to sweep crumbs off the floor as there is a list of rules on the fridge and leaving the place clean was one otherwise you will be charged extra. Considering families are the main guests the tv should be wall mounted as it was very easy to knock off the small TV cabinet and I didn't want to buy a new tv, there were pointless glass ornaments around which are unnecessary and another thing I had to put out of reach. There is no oven, but is two hot plates and microwave. The heating is great, was not cold at all during our stay. I will come back as overall it is good when you have kids. But I hope the owner provides better cleaning equipment and more time to the cleaner as they can only do so much with the restrictions. The owner could try to improve her phone manner also as friendly customer service is nice to receive.
- Cathy (10/5): Fab cosy and clean facilities. - Had a lovely weekend catching up with a friend. Place very spacious and heating on floor was amazing. Had a lovely weekend but coming home to clean and comfortable place made the weekend.
Will definetly book again.
- Colin (6/5): 50/50 if I come back - Fantastically placed with two separate rooms, decent kitchen, nice dining area and lounge.
Unfortunately this is where the good ends and the bad begins...
The beds in the two bedrooms were horrendous. One was hard and stiff, felt like I was litterally on the slats in the base - even though it was an ensemble. The other bed was so soft my feet and my head were 45cms higher than my butt. the ensemble base was frayed and torn with a hole into it and there were dead bugs on the floor.
The bathroom had no extractor fan, neither did the toilet which meant wet slippery tiles and the smell of toilet happenings throughout the residence... :(
It would be amazing with a few little updates like new beds, paint work in the bathroom, fixing the kitchen floor...
If you are looking for cheap then this is your place. Don't expect good customer service when you ring up though. Person was not the nicest to deal with and sounded if she didn't want to talk to us at all...
Will be trying somewhere else next time for sure!
- Moses (6/5): Good except for bed and linen. - The location was good. There were sufficient cooking utensils for a kitchenette. But the bed and linen was not very clean, and I had small insects bites. The bed was quite unconfortable.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Could be okay but poorly kept - Holes in the fly screens
Leaking taps
Toilet not cleaned
Dishes had to be washed before use
Cheap but not cheap enough to compensate for the condition of the place
- Verified traveler (6/5): good value, a little tired but that’s fixable - Overall we enjoyed our stay, great value for money and good location, tea and coffee provided would have been a plus and shower comps like mini shampoo and shower caps would have been ideal. A little worn out, nothing new carpet, paint and some updated furnishings wouldnt improve. Kitchen and bathrooms in our unit were new and clean and the kitchen well fitted out with everything you need. Overall a lovely weekend away.
- Lyn (10/5): Great Location - We had a wonderful stay. Very quiet and comfortable. Good cooking facilities. Great place to relax and do some bush walking. We love staying at Katoomba Townhouses.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Family holiday. Excellent base for touring the Blue Mountains
- jill (10/5): Undried plates/dirty pot were your only fault - Fantastic spot close to everything. Even on a wet weekend because of heating we were able to dry wet shoes/clothes before packing them again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very, very basic. Clean enough, but the walls need cleaning from all the scuff marks. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Would suit students or a boys weekend.
- Vicki (8/5): Comfortable Townhouse close to scenic sites - A peaceful location with good facilities, comfortable & clean. Great to have a kitchenette & laundry too! Walked to a nearby restaurant - Pins on Lurline for an excellent dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay - wish it was longer!
- maureen (8/5): Very central to sights and attractions. walking ds - Enjoyed 3 nights in Katoomba. Walked many walks . Experienced Senic World , Jenollan Caves The Three Sisters and many Waterfalls. Katoomba very pretty.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Katoomba Townhouse stay - Essentially a (dated) furnished townhouse, clean and cheap but nothing more.
- beef (8/5): Warm - The rooms are warm . My main voncurn was it was not until we arrived that there was no staff. No reception at all. It was omly anther guest that told us that we needed to call a number n get a code to get into our room. Nice n clean but the tv remote only works partly . Unlike other places i have stayed at there was no information about the area eith local residents things to etc.. If you know what u want then its great close to everything in katoomba. .
- linda (8/5): Comfortable unit for a couple of nights - Comfortable unit with easy access to blue mountains attractions. Need to leave instructions on how to work stove - we had to google stove top model instructions
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good thankyou comfortable easy to find close to everythi g
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Always good value for what it provides with cooking facilities central heating and accommodation for 4 people. Good location in Katoomba in walking distance to Echo point or town centre.
- Nicky (10/5): Excellent stay in the Mountains - Very nice stay had all we needed for 4 nights in the Mountains. Electric blankets were a bonus. Only thing I would say is was very cold on arrival 11 degrees so maybe if you know guests are arriving put the heating up a little for them.
- Warwick (8/5): Perfect location for Katoomba site seeing - The townhouse was very spacious and warm to come home to after sight seeing for the day with the family. All of the facilities required were there for use (newly renovated kitchen was very nice!). The place was a bit dusty, but definitely good value for money for the family.
- Jo (4/5): Try somewhere else - No staff onsite to provide any direction. When we arrived not sure how to check in. Facilities very old and outdated but clean. Kids beds were broken and extremely uncomfortable. Modern kitchen and updated bathroom. Everything else very old. Lounge area very uncomfortable. Ouside area needs update. No railings on front and back stairs. Expensive in comparison to other accommodation considering the state of the facility. Would not recommend.
- Oksana (8/5): Very good value for the money we've paid. - All you need for a short stay was there. Good comfortable bed , small kitchen equipped with all you need. Nice walk to the town. I will definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Warm and friendly. - Very warm and cosy unit. Close to all attractions. Handy to bus and train and shops
. Reasonable rates. Recommended.
- The Pom (4/5): Bazil Fawlty alive and well in Katoomba ! - Arrived at the unit accommodation after a long flight and train ride from Sydney.
When we arrived at the holiday stay we discovered that there was no reception desk or reception person at all ?
At this stage we decided to ring the contact number for the manager / owner to ask what number unit was ours and how we could get a key
For some unknown reason the manager / owner when asked for this information became extremely aggressive on the phone telling us to find the cleaner and work it out for ourselves. In the end we found the cleaner and she was very helpful in giving us the combination pin number to get inside. We never had the pleasure of meeting the manager / owner as she kept herself well hidden in the time that we were there. Who knows perhaps on that day we interrupted her valuable drinking time at the local pub or gutter somewhere.
- John (2/5): On The Nose - We were greeted to an overpowering 'sewage' smell as we entered the building and that, unfortunately set the scene for the quality of the rest of the accommodation.
The friendly cleaning lady did her best to provide us with masking scents but to no avail.
No exhaust fans worked in the bathroom and toilet adding to our woes!
Bathroom ceiling paint was peeling and mouldy.
Kitchen rangehood was filthy and so were most of the utensils - big note to wash dishes after use but no dishwashing detergent provided!
Won't stay there ever again and do not recommend the place to anybody ........
- sue (8/5): nice townhouses 20 walk to Katoomba high St - My daughter and I have been staying at the Katoomba Town houses for many years as we find them very comfortable.
You can walk or get local transport to most places if you don't have a car. We always stay in the winter and the duckted heating is fantastic. Enjoy your stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good accommodation overall however we were very disappointed to arrive to see no complimentary coffee & tea, no sugar or even milk, we had a long drive and did not intend to have to visit the shops in order to have a drink!
In addition i didn't expect to see cigarette butts in the ash tray on the front deck ... this did make me think about the overall cleanness of everywhere else.
- Christopher (4/5): Old and dated - First of all, the check in was non existent, no instructions were given by hotels.com . These are privetly owned. The address is hidden on building behind bushes, and there is no signage what's so ever. We had to ask 3 different locals where this place was, nobody knew where it was. By the way it's next to La Maison. The condo it self is run down, smells old and is dirty, with dead bugs, thick dust on all the heat vents, picture frames, blinds. Blinds in the kitchen window are filthy with stains and all sorts of nasty things, bedding and towels were damp, the TV remote did not work, funny because a review from 2015 said the same thing. We are in 2017! Moldy shower, hotels. Com stated there is washer, dryer, however there is no dryer. The unit is 4 and it needs a good cleaning! The location is good, the size of the condo is good, with some renovations and a good cleaning, garden landscaping this place would be nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): close to the Three Sisters - The rooms and the bathroom are not cleaned otherwise the house big enough. The kitchen is pretty new.
- Wendy (8/5): Nice quiet area. - Great area, right next door to the day spa.. Easy to find, plenty of room. Comfortable and cosy. Just what we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely townhouse, very close to everything! Great location and heaps of room!
- wendy (6/5): Very central and quiet - The unit was a good size parking good. Easy to relax in even with children
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No signage out front like all other apartments and no office despite being advised of one open 10am - 10pm. Central heating was inadequate, did not get past 19 degrees. Locking of door confusing and the state of the rooms was bad. Inadequate cooking facilities with the stove locked and no instructions on how to unlock it. Ceiling above entrance to kitchen had one large patch of peeling paint and walls were chipped and marked. Use of double adaptors and power boards were to excess.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location, no assistance, locked cupboards - Great accommodation, within walking distance of many of Katoomba's main attractions.
Customer service department is lacking.
- Damien James (2/5): Not worth the money! - Would not stay there again.
- Steve (6/5): Great position next to all the main sights. - .The process was easy to get in they just rang with the townhouse number and code for the door. The townhouse is nice but a bit worn out.
- Cathy (8/5): Nice villa, close to 3 Sisters - Very happy with the villa except that my bedroom door somehow locked itself and I was unable to open it to go to the loo in the night (I did not want to disturb my friend in the other room) so I had to climb out the window and luckily the front door has a code to get in, not a key as I would not have had the front door key in my room. We left a note to the maintenance.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing after a long drive - Advertised with free wifi - this was not the case.
Advertised that reception available until 10pm. Was no reception. Had no idea how to get in. Rang number and it rang out. Lucky someone coming out of another unit gave us a mobile number. All this after driving from Melbourne with two children. Very misleading and dissapointing. Very cold and dirty. Even two dead cockroaches squashed on the wall. When was the last time a cleaner was there, I wonder?? Would never recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The townhouse was ok, the kitchen and blinds were filthy. Utensils basic with one egg ring for a family, one tiny fry pan or a giant wok! One electric blanket in the single bed room not working.
- Jorgen (2/5): Bad hotel - No pool. Tennis court not open. No restaurant so no room service. $20. Per day amenities fee. I had to go and get a little angry at $200.00 for two rooms. Construction constantly all day one floor above us. We have stayed in 4 other hotels here and this is by far the worst. If all things were working it might be OK but.
- Yvonne (6/5): Better than expected - After reading some horrible reviews about Katoomba Townhouses, we were a bit wary to stay here, but overall we were pleasantly surprised. The checking in process was not as smooth as we're used to and we had to make a phonecall to get our key. That meant we had to recharge our simcard first. It would have been nice if we could have gotten the necessary information before our arrival through email.
But the apartment itself was nice and clean and spacious enough for our family. The bathroom in particular was very clean and the shower was great. The washing machine was convenient as well. Because of the carpet and woolen blankets, it can be quite dusty, as my partner, who's allergic to dust mites discovered. He got a bit asthmatic inside, but most people won't have an issue with that.
Hotels.com advertises free wifi, but that is incorrect. Wifi should be available, but at a cost (6 dollars for 1 hour, 12 dollars for 24 hours and 18 dollars for a week) and unfortunately there was no reception in our apartment, so we couldn't try the speed or reliability of the network.
- Brenden (6/5): Townhouse good central location. - Found townhouse central to tourist attractions and katoomba town centre. Townhouse itself reasonably clean, toilet and shower could be improved by just eliminating odours. The lounge due for replacement but bed sheets took care of that, main bed requires attention due to wobbly and noisy. Warm and realistic pricing though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Private and relatively quiet. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. However, the lounge was very low and far too uncomfortable for us to use. The toaster did not work and there was no grill on the stove. The 2 bedroom townhouse was spacious and warm but a little "neglected".
- Verified traveler (10/5): Extremely helpful - Wotif stuffed up our booking so on arrival there was no record of booking (despite wotif's confirmation). There was no availability but on contacting the owner she found us somewhere else to stay for a night paid for plus refunded a night's accommodation. We stayed here the next night and it was ideal for our family.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Give this place a miss - Having my mother and teenage daughter in tow, I booked this place largely based on location. That said it is in a great spot, easily walkable to Echo Point and close top Scenic World as well. When we arrived, given there is no on-site management, I phoned the number on the booking form which was answered by a woman who told me which unit we had and gave instructions on how to open the front door of the unit. The code panel was very poorly installed, wobbly when the keys were pushed, and did not work so we were not able to get entry. She then told me to go the one next door, which fortunately worked because the key was inside a safe and the code she gave to get into the safe actually worked. Once the front door was opened, the run-down state of the unit was obvious. The only blessing was it didn't smell. If I hadn't already paid for it, I wouldn't have stayed, but we did, for the 2 nights we had booked. It was overall pretty yuk. The room I shared with my daughter had a big (poorly patched up) hole in the wall. The kitchen is best not used, (I suggest you eat out) and next time I am wanting to stay in the Blue Mountains I'm choosing Leura. It is way nicer than Katoomba, which overall has a run-down feel to it.
- Jana (6/5): Great size and comfortable - We stayed at the townhouses during our visit to Katoomba while running in the Six Foot Track Marathon through the Blue Mountains so we wanted somewhere close by to the race start with a kitchen so we could prepare our usual pre-race meals etc. The townhouses are large and spacious and I have to mention the very comfortable bed and beautiful view of trees from the bedroom window. The townhouses also have a laundry so being able to wash our race clothes was great.
The townhouse wasn't without its quirks though. Small things like the toilet wasn't very clean and the lamps on either side of the bed didn't work along with there being no tea and coffee facilities or washing detergent made some aspects of our stay unconformable. We also didn't hear a peep from the owner during our stay as we had a late check in and then didn't hear from them the rest of the stay. Our bath towels were not refreshed. The stairs out the front at the door were unsafe without railing. Also there were no large knives or chopping boards in the kitchen. The couches were quite old and out-dated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Short stay for 4 adults - Accommodation is a two bedroom self contained apartment with a small kitchen, separate toilet and bathroom, and adequate dining and lounge space, also outdoor seatind and small table with undercover parking. The couple using the double bed slept very comfortably while the two uf us (older adults) found the single beds were not particularly comfortable, while they may havd been quite suitable for children. The property is convenient to local tourist attractions and shopping. Free WiFi was advertised but while it was available it was mot free.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Excellent location with comfort of apartment - These townhouses are in a great location between Katooma town centre and Echo Point. They offer the facilities of an apartment with laundry kitchen and separate lounge in a garden setting.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but cleanliness could be improved - Location is great in between Echo Point and Katoomba Town Centre but overall cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. A coat of paint and detailed clean throughout would improve the rooms substantially.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic accommodation in convenient location - These little townhouses are in a good and convenient location in Katoomba. They have everything for a comfortable longer stay including kitchenette and laundry. They are generally very clean. This stay was marred by some poor maintence issues with the fridge no longer having any storage in the door and broken plastic fittings, walls being patched and not properly repainted and a very dusty shelf with some old discarded rubber gloves on them in the laundry. Also in the kitchen no proper sharp knives. I have stayed in a different one before and it was fine.
- SE (6/5): Good location and amenities - Nice setup
Needs a good spring clean
Good value for money for a getaway
- sue (4/5): Needs refurbish - In need of a refurb, everything was old and bit dirty ! Needs painting ,had to sweep cobwebs and dirt of the chairs tables & veranda before we could sit out there! The chopping board & dishrack in cupboard ,you wouldn't feed your dog off ! Only good thing was the beds had good sheets ,& there was lots of hot water, it was in a good spot ,but could be a lot better !
