Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastic, enthusiastic staff, good value for time of year
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The welcome was fantastic very friendly the room was beautiful and comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked that all apartments faced the pool. The size was great. Quite roomy.
Felt the bathrooms and toilet could’ve been cleaner. And if something is broken have it fixed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property manager was lovely and helpful. The apartment was clean and tidy and very good
- Verified traveler (4/5): - WiFI was extremely weak.Light globes needed to be replaced/ upgraded.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and roomy compared to other places we have stayed, walking distance to most facilities. Could do with block out curtains as the street lights really light up the room of a night and a bit noisy with the traffic but you do get use to it after awhile.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and lovely spacious rooms just lacking a bit of maintenance to be classed as luxury but fabulous for kids
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Private parking and security great . Grounds kept immaculate friendly staff
- Samantha (4/5): Jan 2019 - Numerous things not functional full condition oven fan not working,no markings for oven stove buttons to show temp or what is for, blind not working, dryer broken adv wouldnt replace in time then text jad went to replace though new damaged so non till the Monday a service that was needed.
Property was tidy but pay to use services and functionality that isnt useable

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pool was lovely. The room was disappointing with no view and was very small.
- Claire (6/5): Secure, easy to get around southport & surrounds - Good secure place to stay, underground carpark, easy to access everything in southport & along the broadwater. Unfortunatly the air-con didnt work, the wi-fi code also didnt work, you have to lug your suitcases up 4 flights of stairs to get from the carpark to the 2nd floor. Toiletries are very limited as is the dishwashing liquid. But there is a laundry in the main bathroom. Definitely need an upgrade, although clean & comfortable the unit we stayed in was quite old with flimsy blinds & we could hear the people above us banging around.
- Pat (6/5): - Convenience store nearby but rather expensive. Not close to transport to take us to Hockey Centre. We did not have our own transport. I dropped my cardigan on the way out but could not get back in because I had put the keys in their mail box. I have asked them to send it to me cod but have not heard from them yet. There were quite a few stairs to negotiate with luggage which was difficult.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet and relaxing unit - Really enjoyed the unit. The only reason for a lower rating was there was no lights in the stairwell or lift. When it was a 84 year old staying this is important for safety. I know it was only 3 flights of stairs or 4 from car park but that is a lot at that age. Apart from that everything else was great.
- Verified traveler (2/5): NO NO NO - chosen for location Gold Coast Marathon - Gardens and pool were tidy. Reception not open on weekends. Room dirty, broken/chipped tiles, soap scum on tiles in bath and showers, toilet leaking/running, blinds broken, dishwasher handle broken, toaster broken, couldn't get oven working, only 2 cereal bowls for unit for 5, electrical powerpoint broken, cupboard doors extremely difficult to open (left open), walls dirty/scuffed everywhere, chunks of plaster out of walls, noisy bathroom vents running all day/night, rusty over-stove fan - didn't work properly and set off smoke alarm, no microwave equipment, pans dirty and had to be scrubbed before use. Spoke to staff Monday morning and could not get any refund as booked through Wotif and wouldn't be accepted. Very disappointing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stairs - No lift. 4 flights of stairs from car park to 3rd story unit.
- Arty (10/5): Comfortable Hotel close to Everything - We stayed for 8 nights and enjoyed the clean tidy unit that was close to transport, the beach and walking distance to Australia Fair.
The staff in the office were very helpful and provided us with the bus information to Harbour Town and other queries that we had.
Thank you again for a pleasant week at Blue Water Bay Luxury Villas.
- Samantha (6/5): - Nice on a budget, needs some of an upgrade in rooms
- J (2/5): faulty towers on the gold coast - As soon as I booked I emailed to request late check in and to confirm as booked 1 bed room with double bed and sofa bed. resort told me sofa bed would be extra $30 . I sent photos of my confirmation. Resort replied this is a Wotif mistake that room is 1 Bed only and Wotif will not change the website and Wotif continually makes mistakes. I took my own bedding personal reasons could not sleep in 1 bed. On arrival the wrong key was left 1/2 hour or more on phone to after hours service before someone came to bring another key 3 flights of stairs with luggage then back down and up to another room and had to move car big mess up. (no apologies always someone else's fault) room had sofa bed and linen left out ? however as I still had to pay for the balance I was not going to use their linen as I probably would be charged for it. The Sofa bed was held together with a piece of wood jammed in to sit on and completely useless as a bed no mattress just metal bars should go to tip not even comfortable to sit on 2 bad cracks through the surface of the bath - door to pool area did not work so every time we wanted to come and go had to go to basement car park then up another stair case... manager argued with me about everything - said he does not read emails that I sent and every problem I had was because of Wotif and Wotif failing to sell their resort correctly said wotif offers things they don't have like breakfast and "sofa ...out of space sorry ..more to say if anyone interested >
- Verified traveler (8/5): Relaxing felt like home - Enjoyed the stay perfect location o
Pool area is awesome
Rooms were relaxing
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No air con, cooking facilities lacking. Parking a nightmare.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Experience - It's ok but nothing like it used to be like with previous owners, some areas of the resort needs attention, gardens could do with a little TLB. Overall not a bad place to stay
- Merryl (2/5): - I booked this hotel sight unseen, based on their online presence. I was going to stay here following surgery for a week’s recovery. We were put on the top level of one of the accommodation blocks - six flights of stairs, as there are no lifts. They demand full payment on check-in which is unlike any other hotel/motel I have ever stayed at. The norm is full payment on check-out. The room was dirty and dated. There was only one air conditioning unit in the lounge, none in the bedroom. There were no ceiling fans, just one pedestal fan.
This is not a disability friendly establishment. With a visual impairment, arthritic knees and post-surgery, the stair well to the car park (the last two flights of steps) was dark and unsafe.
I definitely will not be staying here again and will steer family and friends clear.
- Colleen (8/5): -
Great place it's like a resort big swimming pool BBQ erea and very close to beach Mall bus stop at gate
- Mary (10/5): - It was unfortunate that I had to leave early due to an emergency back home but I had a great time in my short period of stay☺☺
- vincent (8/5): Nice hotel, very big and comfortable room - Only stayed for 2 nights but was a nice pleasant stay
- Val (8/5): Quiet and confortable - Enjoyed our stay, although furniture and stove could do with updating in room 42.
Stairs are a challenge for older guests. Staff friendly.
- George (8/5): Self contained apartments at South Port - We had a two bedroom apartment even though we had only booked a single bedroom apartment.
Consequently the living areas were very generous.
The outlook from the balcony over the central garden and pool was very pleasant.
As we were on the first floor there were fairly narrow stairs to be negotiated with suitcases.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location easy access to theme parks. Lovely pool and spa
- jeff (6/5): not so happy - wanted to rebook but told no room available for end of month
- The Straw House (8/5): Over the road from the park - Very comfortable beds. Being over the road from park with a great walking track and sights to see on the water was a bonus. There was a lovely coffee shop just around the corner for a stop on the way back to the room. Great layout of the unit.
I would go back.
- rick (4/5): Noisy and needs a good clean and a paint - Noisy road and needs a good clean and a paint very run down but would be ok if you needed a cheap place to stay
- Johnno (4/5): Old and tired - Glory days well behind it - From the first entrance there are weird smells everywhere. Receptions smells like Keen's mustard, stairwells smells like baby wipes and nappies. Room just smelt of what was last cooked in the kitchen. The place 20 years ago would have been great but since them they have only done the most basic of maintenance and it is just in need on an entire makeover. The mixed living of both permanent (50+% ?) and holiday letting just gives the place a weird vibe, not like a holiday. Feels like you are invading other people's permanent living arrangements.
In hindsight I should have paid more money for a nicer place in Southport.
- Jeff (6/5): Pretty good hotel/apartment in general - Cleaniness - Not too bad but can not stand having hair bits lying around everywhere after being cleaned and there were quite a few lying around, otherwise was a pretty clean apartment.
Room quality - Furniture was pretty good but lounge was definately in need for updating. Bathroom good and loved the shower water pressure.
Staff - Staff were ok.
In General - Not a bad place to stay as our room was in a great location, on ground level and could walk straight out to the pool. Pool was nice and convenient. Was in room 8.
Would stay again but please have your cleaners get rid of hair.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice complex well located - The accommodation is perfectly acceptable for the price.
It would be good if there was someone there after office hours to assist guests.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Air conditioning was only in the lounge room, the second bedroom was so hot because the hot water tank is in the cupboard next to it so it was difficult to sleep in there with the heat. Walk up access only, no lift. On a main street so there's no street parking, you have to park underground. Very difficult with a baby, no high chair provided. I didn't see staff until 5 days into our stay when they finally changed our linen and even then we still had ants on our bed. We were only given one key, so if my husband wanted to take our older son to the pool then I had to wait for them to come back so I could go anywhere - very annoying!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pool was ideal on hot days - We didn't have any AC in the main living area of the two bed apartment, which was very disappointing on the hot days we were there. The bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable, small and it was like sleeping on a concrete bed. The carpeted floor was more comfortable. Internet kept dropping in and out and TV reception wasn't the best either.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay across the road at the caravan park - Management rude to my partner no drop box for keys if u want to leave early. Place and utensils were filthy. Plenty more wrong
- Verified traveler (8/5): Spacious villa, convenient location. - There are several stairwells, all numbered. To get to your villa please ask the reception for clear directions as it's a big resort.
- Sue (6/5): Big villa - This was a big villa. 2 bed rooms, 2 bathrooms. Clean. Very noisy on a 4 lane road and intersection. Not luxury. 3 stars? No batteries in fan remote.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to chill out - Our welcome wasn't the best but it was a lovely place to sleep and the pool was really great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Accommodated our late booking an check very well. - Great experience. Staff were very helpful when we arrived after close of reception. The pool area was a great hut with our kids.
- Julie (10/5): Great pool - good for kids - Two bedroom, two bathrooms quite spacious unit with small balcony overlooking pool. Toddler pool & heated spa so easy to entertain young children. Short drive to beaches. Only thing BBQ not working.
- ky (2/5): Disgusting - I would not recommend this hotel to anyone the blinds were full of mould , bathroom full of mould , the beds & lounge made us so itchy, this hotel really needs a good clean up.
- Gerd (6/5): Quite nice, reasonable value for money, - It's a quite a nice place, could do with a little more cleanliness or maintenance to make the place more appealing, apartment could be a little cleaner, neighbours can be a bit noisy due to the different type of people living there, eg permanents, renters, owners, short term holiday makers, etc. Overall, not bad at all. Staff is nice and helpful
- mick (6/5): Too close to main intersection, very noisy - Apartment was right on the corner or the building, next to an intersection. The pedestrian crossing was right below us , the crossing beeper was going all night long, very noisy road. Good proximity to a couple of nice restaurants. Dodgy neighbourhood though. I suppose you get what you pay for. Poor internet reception. Wouldnt go there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Good position to go to attractions around the area. Quite location and lovely setting. Small ugrading in the apartment would be an advantage. Overall nice place to stay.
- Brian (8/5): Good family accomodation - Good sized room for family with 2 kids. Couches were pretty small and not very comfortable. Good location near parks and small local shops.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nothing spectacular about room just average. Room could have been cleaner. Have stayed at better accommodation for same price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): great location close to all the main attractions - great location close to all main attractions and main highways. walking distance to Australia fair shopping centre. great for the family. the apartment was 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with laundry and kitchen. was clean and tidy.
- Jason (8/5): Pools for young and old - Having 2 pools and a spa was great for our family. Room spacious. Glad we were only on level 2 as stairs with a small child luggage pram etc was a little tricky. Nice staff. We were happy with our overall stay.
