Kerry (8/5): Soundproofing lacking - We stayed in a single room that had an adjoining door that had someone else staying in. The door was not sealed and we could hear the other people talking. Very noisy & no soundproofing at all. Water pipes also very noisy hearing them shower. The beds were very comfortable though.

Luke (2/5): - This is definitely no “resort”. Next to no car parking facilities on site for paying guests to park their cars on site. The general condition of the room was well dated and is extremely overdue for renovations. Walked down to reception twice to gain access to the wifi services which was stipulated in the information booklet however both times reception had a “be back in 10 minutes” sign at the sliding door entry. The only thing I was impressed with my stay was the level of cleanliness of the room.

Nash (10/5): Great place for a family holiday - The Islander Resort is ideally located on Nth Straddie to access all that the island has to offer. The managers of the resort were friendly and welcoming, the rooms extremely well outfitted with everything you could possibly need. The pool and tennis courts a fun distraction for the kids.

BB (6/5): Apartment close to the beach - Nice comfortable unit, clean and bright. Was a bit disappointed that it was not a bit more modern considering the overnight tariff. The noise from other units and the smoking from other units was a bit disappointing. It is in a great location, close to most food places and of course, the beach.

mia (4/5): I won’t be back - We stayed in 8A, probably the biggest problem was the cleanliness. The outside of our room was covered in wasp nests, it made me feel uneasy to go outside. There was 2 spiders in the corner of the bathroom and mound on the ceiling. I never used any of the coffee facility because when I opened the cupboard in smelt like vomit. The pool was nice, the air con was cold, we were barely there so didn’t have to suffer with the room. They also had a tennis court - you had to pay to hire the racquets and ‘lost balls’ I understand paying for the balls but have never been to a hotel to pay for racquet hire.

My mobile phone provider is Virgin and I had no coverage at all while at the hotel but it was OK on the rest of the island. There was no wifi except near the reception and limited pay tv channels. The creepy crawly was always on in the pool.

Verified traveler (2/5): Not really what the pictures and review showed. - There were quite a few items that did not operate correctly - e.g. clock,sliding doors, powerpoints, broken chairs and even though we were given a Wi-Fi access code we could not connect to the internet. The staff were not really forthcoming with information and not friendly. The unit itself was not overly clean.

Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location, close to everything. - Getting a few retro flashbacks wth the inclusion of vhs players in the rooms, but quite comfortable and roomy. Only suggestion would be to extend the wifi accessibility to all rooms, not just around the office area. Unless your mobile carrier is Telstra, your mobile is basically an expensive clock, Wireless access would keep you in contact with the outside world, when necessary.

Lucy (4/5): Terrible experience :( - Although close to the beach, The Islander was a massive disappointment. As soon as we checked in, staff was unfriendly and rude. Didn't care about us as customers more about payments and receiving money. The room itself was half decent but provided with the oddest array of kitchen utensils? Instead of normal items we had an upside cake tin and broken tongs. Almost all of it was dirty also. Reception was also always locked so we had to deal with two rolls of toilet paper for 4 days..was ridiculous.

El (6/5): Old and tired accommodation, good location. - Wasn't expecting much as read the reviews. Reviews were accurate. Good size room. Fridge had broken shelves. Old old curtains from the 1980's. Ridiculous bedside table lamps taken straight from the tip! No air con in living area, boiling hot during day and night. Only air con in the bedroom. Single beds on wheels on tiled floor, slid around when sleeping or sitting on bed. No lift to higher floors. Only book if desperate and no where else to go.
Verified traveler (8/5): Very good for a family stay. - Location excellent, closest beach not patrolled but great; parking free but tight fit; free wifi but no reception in the unit; beds pretty good, bathroom great, kitchen satisfactory, 2 TVs !, some stains etc curtains and lounge room furnishings, some tile damage living areas, but overall good. Pool cool and clean, grounds well kept.
Lee (6/5): Two night stay. - The facility and it's furnishings are dated but the room was clean and tidy. We were at the back of the resort so less noise from children in the pool and on the tennis court. Also, no road noise. The only complaint was the bed which was missing one of the legs half way along the bed. The result was I was sleeping in a hollow which was not at all comfortable. I propped it up with a couple of bricks found outside and had a better sleep on the second night. It was reasonable value for the money-$150/night.

J (2/5): Worst accommodation experience we have had - We stayed in one of the rooms towards the back of the complex. Kitchen was reasonably updated but the rest of the unit was very clearly not. Fly screen door to balcony did not have a lock despite balcony being shared with adjoining room. Drinking glasses had traces of food on the rim...Bed cover had suspicious looking stains. Bed had bugs! Carpet in bedroom was marine type, of the type that was installed 20 years ago. Needless to say this was not conducive to sleep. It was too late by the time we actually had a walk around the unit to settle down for the day and reception had closed by then, we would have otherwise checked out immediately. We had to wait until the following morning to check-out prematurely. This was risky as it was school holidays and alternate accommodation was not guaranteed but we decided that it was better to cut our much needed holidays short if it came to it, then to stay another minute in that "accommodation". Manager listened to concerns but should have never made this unit available for anyone to stay
Tracey (8/5): Convenient & Spacious Family Apartment - Fantastic family stay. We stayed on the third level in a two bedroom apartment. Comfortable open plan with sunlight and a breeze. Wi-fi available outside in the grounds but not from the room . Friendly helpful management that gave us an early check in and a late check out at no additional charge. Greatly appreciated. Will stay here again!

Traveller (4/5): Good location - Whilst in a good location, 10 minute bus ride away from Point Lookout, whilst the facilities were very well maintained the rooms were a little tired and cost cutting evident. The rating was put at 4 star but we would only give it 3 stars
John (10/5): Good accommodation, close to beach - Good clean accommodation, close to beach, staff very friendly and helpful. The building is looking a bit dated and tired, the pool is excellent, lots of sunbeds and chairs. My unit was a studio apartment, it contained everything needed for a comfortable week long stay. Plenty of pots, pans, cups etc etc. The surrounding gardens were imaculate and tended each day by the gardener. All in all, I would stay again and I would recommend this place to friends and family.

The decor was rather shabby. I could not access free wifi anywhere on the property. Our room had an interconnecting door which seemed to let in a lot of noise from the next room.
allegra (6/5): - The Hotel was basic but we had a huge flat that slept 8 and was well laid out. The hotel is in need of a makeover but it was clean and a short walk away from the beach. The manager was a night mare and so rude to us upon arriving and again when we went to get the wi fi number he was rude and very unpleasant .. It could have been a great stay if the manager had even given us any advise on the island and dining suggestions etc. If you don;t care about that it was just fine.
Roy & Christine (4/5): uncomfortablt old hotel - The hotel is old although the outside facilities including the pool tennis courts and barbecue area seem to have been modernised and are lovely. The room we had was old, the bed and lounge chairs were all very uncomfortable .. In short there was nowhere we could relax. Outside there were two timber chairs with a nice aspect, but this was spoilt be the presence of ash trays which had not been properly cleaned. We are not smokers .. All in all we have chalked it up as a poor choice on our part and will try somewhere else next time.
Graham (6/5): Was expecting much more from a 'resort'. - Disappointed as was expecting resort facilities based on name. None of these sadly. Clean but dated & damaged fittings. Shower head held up by cable tie. Booked two bathroom apartment to find only one toilet. Very basic. More 3 star than 5. Cheerful but not that cheap. Expected more.

sw (8/5): Nice weekend getaway - From the moment we checked in till the moment we left the whole experience was excellent. The unit was spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and location perfect.
Roza (2/5): Owner / Manager very unreasonable - My husband and I booked to stay here with our 10 yr old daughter for 2 nights during the end of the school holidays. A friend and his son had booked the room next door. The room was very average, old and in need of refurbishment. My husband and friend were having a drink on the balcony while the kids slept, when the manager approached them and without identifying himself, threatens them with police action and eviction for excessive noise. They were talking on the balcony, not shouting, not singing, just having a conversation. After more threats he leaves to print out the eviction notice. On his return he produces the notice and does not provide any sort of suggestion for recourse but instead more threats of police presence, which was welcomed at this point as we needed someone reasonable to speak to. Suffice to say, they never turned up and we all went back into our rooms and went to bed. His behaviour was totally unprofessional and the next morning we were all told to vacate the rooms and not return, without a refund. He could not be reasoned with and refused to listen to anything that we had to say and didn't give us an exact reason for the eviction, except to say that we had breached the Body Corporate Contract. A simple request to lower their voices and return to the rooms was all that he needed to do, instead, he decided to threaten eviction and police action over something that was never fully explained at the time. We were then forced to find and book elsewhere.
