Guest Reviews
- SHARON (8/5): - Park view was lovely
Breakfast downstairs hearty & cooked well
Very comfy big bed & pillows
Lift was good for transporting our suitcases up & to car
- Quinten (8/5): - Stayed at the Mercure Launceston a few times now when in Tassie to watch footy, short walk to game, shopping & restaurants.
Check in was easy & staff were helpful, generally well priced also.
Highly recommended.
- Esther (8/5): - Location is good . Clean bathroom . My room have hand soap but my friend’s room don’t have it. Staff is friendly and helpful.
- Sheree (10/5): - I loved how conveniently close it was to all the places I needed to go to in Launceston and right opposite the park.
My car did not like the steepness of the car park though, but considering the section of the city it was in, most of the accommodation in that area has the same problem.
- 496donnat (10/5): Loved Our Stay Here - The hotel is well located, within walking distance to the city centre & many attractions. They offer free Wi-Fi & carparking, there's an on-site restaurant bar, we enjoyed a couple of buffet breakfasts from here. Our Room with a King size bed and a huge bathroom were beautifully styled, spacious and clean. It was a nice touch to be in a room which lead out to a balcony overlooking the historic City Park.
- tom (10/5): - Convenient. Good bar and restaurant
- Dylan (8/5): - Good enough stop off point to sleep for the night on your journey around Tasmania.
- Sree Bala Rama Krishna (8/5): - Stay is excellent. The facilities are are really good. Only thing is that they did not let us know that drinks and snacks that are provided in the fridge are chargeable. That’s a bit surprising to me.
But rest is really good
- Mark (10/5): - Good access to park and town
- Mork001 (8/5): Did the trick - Arrived late, the hotel texted us our details on how to get our keys.
Was a little disappointed we were on in the main building and were located in motel styled accommodation.
Located across from City Park and within walking distance of all the main places and restaurants in town.
The rooms were clean with a basic mini bar and television offering.
Not to large but not too small either and we had a king size bed which was great.
Nothing special but was somewhere to lay our heads for the night.
- Gina (10/5): Friendly and helpful - Friendly and helpful staff
- R (8/5): - Clean and modern rooms, close to amenities and to key tourist attractions.
- Agnes (10/5): - Convenient locations
- Marie (10/5): - We spent 3 nights here and it was a really lovely place to stay. Room was fantastic and also had a great shower. Property also has a lift which was great for those who have trouble walking up stairs. It was also great having the restaurant attached and staff at the restaurant were fantastic. Location was very handy to everything. Would love to come back and stay here again.
- Domenico (6/5): - Not secure

- Leigh (10/5): - Layout and facilities updated. Very Comfortable and welcoming.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent place to stay on business

- Mrs S M (8/5): All good, budget price - As expected for budget pricing.
All we needed, quiet DNC plenty of parking
Walking distance to town and park across the road.
- Stewart (4/5): - The property was in a great position. The property is comfortable but a little dated. Friendly staff and great atmosphere in the dining room.
The bacon is the best, nicely smoked and crisp rinds.
- Ryan (10/5): - Had an option to pick up room service from reception and not be charged the small $5 amount.
- Melanie (10/5): - Great
- Natalie (10/5): - Great customer service by staff and clean room which I regard highly. Will definitely recommend! Thanks Nat
- Danny (10/5): - This strut fitted all of our needs. Close to everything Mc right across from a beautiful park.
- Luke (10/5): - Friendly diligent staff.. clean comfortable and private accomodation..
- Rob (8/5): - Nice and convinient
- Marree (10/5): - So close to central and nthn outlet
- Alison (4/5): Specimen in toilet - I was greeted by a specimen left in the toilet , disgusting . Obviously the toilet was not cleaned . Also they need to change the door to the bathroom to a solid door , not glass , as the outside lights shine in and light up the room at night . Can’t sleep . Then I was charged for a bottle of water from the mini bar which I never had. Took it out of my visa. Was there for work trip wouldn’t stay again on next visits to tas.
- Scott (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Kelsea (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable! Close proximity to everything and great beds!
- Karen (10/5): - All great
- Harlem (8/5): Well situated and priced. - The room was initially clean and comfortable. Only two real issues during 2 night stay. The light in the bathroom started flickering the night i got there and then went out. I calked reception the next day and let them know before i left the room that day and they said theyd have someone come to repair it. Upon returning that night, it was still unrepaired. I had to have a shower in the dark that night and next morning. Also, the room was serviced daily, but the vacuuming was not. Overall, a pleasant stay with a good view. The room was facing the road so was quite noisy, more so during the day.
- KirtiChaya05 (8/5): Comfortable stay family of 3 - We had a pleasant stay at Mercure Launceston. Room was comfy and spacious, only thing toilet/bathroom maybe a little squeezed in together. Other than that no issues at all. Staff were friendly and nice. We took the package with breakfast which had some nice choices. They have parking onsite as well which is always a plus.
- sandra (10/5): - The accommodation is very clean and tidy. The dining option not so great for evening meal, as the menu and wine options were very limited.
- Stuart (10/5): - Excellent conditions and extremely well priced.
- Raymond (10/5): Ray Fry - Staff were so helpful I was over in Launceston for a funeral which I gave the eulogy for the staff printed the text for me on two occasion’s nothing was too much trouble
- Kate (8/5): - Clean and relaxing but I don't think they've cleaned the room enough
- Mariela (10/5): - The food was excellent!!! Delicious!!
- Maree (10/5): - Loved the cleanliness, updated room, king bed, updated bathroom
- Sharon (6/5): - Great shower & comfy bed. Carpark was dodgy.
- Simon (10/5): - Modern room, comfortable bed and easy parking
- Kerry (8/5): - Pretty happy
- Farnam (8/5): - Professional staff and nice place
- Wai Ting (10/5): - Excellent service and have request a late check out
- Omar (8/5): - Very good experience. I just wish the TV was able to have apps like Netflix, etc to watch our own content.
- Geoff (8/5): - The Hotel exceeded my expectation based on the cost paid.
- Cruiser293712 (6/5): Hotel ok. Can do better. - Need railings in the foyer or a ramp instead of stairs. Suitcases hard to get to the car in carpark. Must move car to the front of the hotel. Restaurant needs to update the music and provide better seating, lighting and and more varied menu.
- Sally (10/5): - Good location at reasonable price
- Vanessa Mary (8/5): - A comfortable bed and a good shower was very enjoyable.
- Nick (10/5): - Great spot for a business overnight stay. Parking is currently compromised due to renovations.
- Adam (4/5): - 4 cars were broken into, mine included and no safe parking options. No assistance was given to fix damaged locks and security cameras were useless.
- Gerard (2/5): - We must have been near a machine room, just could not sleep at all.
- Rodney (10/5): - Was happy with my stay at the hotel Launceston good service from the staff helpful and friendly good clean and comfortable room .the dinner in the restaurant was well cooked and very nice as was breakfast. Close to the city and the football ground thank you very much
- dawn (10/5): - Good location and off street parking
- Joseph (8/5): - Room was nice and comfortable. Air conditioner had a build up of dust on the air inlet also noticed this in the bathroom vent.
- Liam (8/5): - Great location but road noise still audible even with double glazed windows closed.
Ensuite layout could be improved and have a full sized basin. Lived the picture of Cradle Mountain on the headboard fabric.👍
- John (10/5): - Very comfortable and looks like a recent upgrade to rooms etc
Price point was good compared to other similar accommodation venues in and around Launceston
- Lindy (2/5): - There was no hot water in the shower and the body soap dispenser was empty. The room was very noisy both from traffic and neighbours in other rooms.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
- Yit (8/5): - It's very clean, closed to the park and walking distance to the city. However, if you're facing the street/park, you may hear the traffic. Also, you may need to consider if you need to sleep in as the door seal isn't working and you can hear people talking in the hallway. Perhaps the hotel may remind employees and guests to keep the voice down for others.
I dont feel particularly too safe in this property though. Security seems loose to have open hallway and no swipe card entries for hotel guests.
Note: the reception didn't read before call to my room and chased me out even there was a note for late check out has been granted.
- Tania (8/5): great - comfortable bed, dark room
- Corinne (6/5): - Parking is good. Room quality was ok but bathroom super tiny and road noise is immense as it is on a busy road. People smoking in the non smoking area as you enter from car parking and the smoke wafts inside.
- Lisa (8/5): - Easy access to town, our room on 1st floor beside laundry room and car park , very nosey from 7am onwards. Not ideal if looking to sleep in a little later, other than that every thing was great.
- Donald (10/5): - Just a good clean facility with cheerful staff
- kathryn (10/5): - While there's nothing special about this hotel, it gets 5 stars for the incredible staff, particularly Kim at the front desk. She really went above & beyond to ease my stay!
- Andrew (10/5): - Great staff and facilities and excellent food at the restaurant!
- Paul (6/5): - The room was tight. It had no view, the fridge was loaded with hotel expensive products eithith no room for guests own water bottles, wine, beer fruit etc. The TV was far too big for the size of the room. It had a very good bathroom. Parking was trick and tight..
The hotel bar and restaurant were closed on Sunday. The meal was ok the previous evening.
- Shaz (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay room was clean and comfortable was in easy walking distance to city centre would stay again
- Peter (6/5): - Good location but small rooms not easily accessed
- Nick (6/5): - room was nice, if not a little small. The layout is more of a motel feel though, and not really what you expect from a mercure hotel.
Coffee machine in the breakfast room could do with an upgrade.
- Ma Siu (8/5): - Everything is so clean and tidy. The bed is very comfortable. However, I need to carry my luggage to my room because there are some stairs for some areas.
The food in the restaurant is excellent and staff are all friendly.
- Phillip (10/5): - Close to town and large park, nice room
- Bradley (10/5): - Close to town, nice bar, always friendly staff
- Anthony (10/5): - Manager and staff were fantastic
- Alistair (10/5): - Handy location across from City Park.
- Nikki (10/5): - Clean and modern rooms, awesome view if staying in a park/city view room
- Darryl (8/5): - Bit of noise in corridor from other guests. Convenient acces to car park
- Cheryl (10/5): - Walking distance to cbd with eateries near by . Clean room comfortable bed which is very important. The shower was lovely to stand under. Beautifully stocked fridge and lots of nibbles to choose from. We had a very quiet room. Very happy all round.
- Robert (10/5): Highly recommend. - Great service desk. Good internal restaurant, well positioned. Great stay this was my 3rd stay there over 15 years.
- Kellie (10/5): - We stayed for Festivale weekend and the location of Hotel Launceston is perfect as it’s just across the road from City Park. The room was also nice and clean also.
- Ann (8/5): - Very last minute booking and was reasonably priced considering festivald was on!
- Andrew (10/5): - Rooms were clean and when serviced each day back to being spotless.
Staff were amazing accommodating our family at short notice.
Quiet and dark rooms when the blinds were closed.
Downsides were that one of our families bathrooms didn't have a fan an the steam lingered, parking gets a pit of a premium if you are returning later at night
- Phil (10/5): - Property was very clean and quiet
- Rodney (10/5): - Loved our stay.
- April (10/5): - Lovely staff, clean and tidy room.
- Pagalavan (10/5): - Easy check in and close to city parks
- Wing Yan (10/5): - Value of money
- Michael (10/5): - Only stayed one night. Impressive sized bathroom with comfortable bed and good TV . Overall very happy, thanks.
- Mark (10/5): - Nice and easy check in and quite and tidy
- Jude (8/5): - The only down fall was a little mild in the bathroom and no milk
- Nathan (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Geraldine (10/5): - I liked everything there was nothing to complain about and a good price aswell
- Sharon (10/5): - Restaurant closed on Sunday.
- N1708DTwendyk (8/5): Great location & room - Our room was at the front of hotel overlooking City Park (top of Brisbane St) and we stayed for four nights. Be mindful when booking that there’s also rooms behind car park that don’t look as appealing (maybe these are cheaper). Free ample car parking behind & beside which can get quite busy on a weekend.
Easy walking distance into CBD & mall (10-15mins), made even more pleasant if you go through the park which is just beautiful (& has a conservatory full of ferns & orchids plus a snow monkey enclosure- all free). Great room with a very comfortable king size bed and extra pillows in wardrobe. Nicely renovated bathroom with fantastic shower, though lighting in room to put on makeup etc has a bit to be desired. The room had a desk and a very comfortable recliner and footstool that was great to sit in and admire the views from the huge window. Ironing board & iron in cupboard. Bar fridge stocked with stuff that never got very cold but was sufficient for storing some extra items of ours. Housekeeping made up room every day and only left extra towels etc when they thought were required which was fine by us. We never ate in the restaurant but had a drink there one night, which was pleasant but they seem to close quite early (8.30-9pm).
There was some confusion with our booking on check in (& frustratingly that continued over our stay) due to us booking through Lastminute.com and then having to move the booking by a day due to cancelled flights. Despite this & the fact we kept getting our room card cancelled it really didn’t taint the end experience as the rate, location, free parking and room made up for it. Yes, we’d stay here again.
- TheoK244 (6/5): Motel highway vibe - I was confused as I walked up a set of stairs to discover my hotel room was in the section behind the main hotel itself.
As I jumped into my room, it had the feeling of a highway motel with the small layout of the room and one of the walls being a window. It provided little sound barrier as I could hear people chatting as they walked by my room or stood outside to have a smoke.
The bathroom was great. Neely renovated and nice.
The bed was a little uncomfortable and the pillows were far too dense for my particular tastes.
- Harry (6/5): - Location a problem, name of hotel does not appear on building
