Guest Reviews
- Donna (8/5): Comfort with fabulous views - Location! Fantastic views over Kingston.
WiFi and Mobile phone provided, along with just about anything else we could possibly need. Staff were friendly and very helpful. No insect screens on the front windows and door to take advantage of the cool breeze without uninvited guests. Insect spray provided took care of those though. A pedestal fan was provided, but perhaps ceiling fans would be more practical. No other issues whatsoever.
- Jennifer (10/5): very much enjoyed - Location was amazing. Staff were friendly we came at easter so there noone to contact for 4 days when we had a problem with the TV
- Ellen (9/5): Lovely, relaxing holiday stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Everything you needed to self cater for our stay. Great Bbq, plenty of utensils. Very clean and comfortable with outstanding views. Easy parking with plenty of spaces. Short drive to everything on the island. 😀😀😀 Only thing I can think of was there was no oil for cooking.
- David (10/5): -
- AMANDA (10/5): Very relaxing, slept really well - The view Everything was perfect, no faults
- Aditya (10/5): Beautiful and clean appartment. Close to everything and best view of the island. - Best view of the island right from your room. Mattress was cheap and old, very uncomfortable to sleep on.
- Ian (10/5): A lovely place to stay while gaining a meaningful understanding of Nortfolk Island's convict history - The best view on the island and it's proximity to Kingston, the historical site.
The staff at both the lodge and car hire were fantastic. The road from Burnt Pine to Kingston needs upgrading.
- Bobbie J (10/5): - The view is incredible Everything was good
- GEOFFREY (9/5): Excellent for a short trip - The view from the room was fantastic looking over the ocean to the two islands off shore , out of town but only 5 minutes by car .
Very quite at night . The Kingston site was within walking distance , down a hill and the Emily Bay beach and golf course 5 minutes by car. Nothing really , you would have to be very picky , you have to remember the difficulties of life on a remote island.
- Janet (8/5): -
- Derek (8/5): - View, space and facilities Hum eminating from rear shed
- Colleen (9/5): Location and view excellent . Accommodation was great . - location was excellent . room clean and comfortable . Parking good . Hot water a bit hit and miss in shower . Tv quite small .
- Tania (10/5): The location and views were sensational. - The view from our apartment was spectacular. The closeness of neighbours in adjoining apartments.
- Jane (10/5): Beautiful location close to Emily Bay- we loved having coffee on the front terrace in the mornings, -
- James (9/5): Unsurpassed views of Kingston - We were met on arrival which was such a great way to start our holiday. The view is unsurpassed on the island. Comfortable room with all the amenities including a local mobile you can use. Washing machine and full kitchen facilities including a bbq and a picnic basket. Nothing
- Lyn (10/5): Absolutely perfect!! - Stunning views , luxurious towels and linen. Very comfortable bed. Everything you need in the kitchen and your own BBQ. It was great to have a washing machine and the use of a local phone was very handy. Couldn’t fault anything!
- Gaeta (8/5): A lovely peaceful stay with everything you need to unwind. Don’t expect modern as Norfolk has been lost in time - The view is to die for
Everything you need is provided
Starlink provided internet to each unit
Picnic baskets were available in each unit
Laundry and vanity items were available
Amazon fire stick for each unit as well! Amazing Our unit was newer or so it seemed, but the other two we had hired were in need of an update
Hard to do on an island we understand
- Ginine (10/5): Beautiful stay on Norfolk… and Duncan was always helpful. - The view is beautiful… Very relaxing to sit & stare at the beautiful scenery.
- Wieckhorst (9/5): Amazing escape with views you cannot replicate anywhere else on the island - Location, the view and the provisions Bed too soft but personal opinion
- Wait (9/5): An absolutely delightful place to holiday with the choice to do as little or as much as desired. - The views were magnificent.
The unit was self contained and had a washing machine and clothes line. We had everything we needed.
Every room was spacious. The area was very quiet. We went in summer and would have appreciated more fans or ceiling fans. There is no air-conditioning which would not be needed for most of the year.
- Liz (10/5): Amazing. - Great location, stunning views.
This unit has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. The property is a little dated but the position and positives far outweigh this.
- AMANDA (10/5): Total relaxation - The view
- Heather (10/5): We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this accommodation location. - Fantastic location with brilliant views you just can’t beat. The unit was very clean and included everything we needed.
- Emmerson (10/5): Brilliant property well appointed and clean, good value for money. - Everything was brilliant, exceptional view, very comfortable and clean. Well appointed.
- linda (10/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): Excellent facilities and location. - We had our own breakfast.
- Donald Bawden (10/5): excellent - 1000% The views. 0 nothing we loved it all. Was very comfortable with all the amenities. will stay again.

- Philip (10/5): - View is spectacular. Good car with a phone in package
- Marie Anne (10/5): - This property has the most amazing views. The Apartment had everything that we needed for our stay and was an easy drive to all the areas of the island. Highly recommended!
- garry (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Location was great overlooking the bay with lovely ocean views
- Schramm (10/5): - Magnificent location. Friend and helpful staff. Loved it. Tv wasn't working but signal problem wasn't the fault of the Lodge. It was an Island problem.
- Lesleyanne (10/5): - The location was second to none on the island. A simple unit with a brilliant view over Kingston, and thoughtfully equipped. We loved it. All we needed was more shampoo!
- Sydney (9/5): Wonderful! - The view from the apartments is unbeatable. TV reception must be improved.
- FAY (10/5): - The outlook over the colonial buildings to the islands was superb.
- Judy (10/5): -
- Greg (10/5): Exceeded expectations. Loved it! - Location location location!!!
Everything you need for your stay and tidy and clean. Very thoughtful owners. TV reception but could live without it
- Glen (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay , best on the island
- Kate (10/5): - The view was breathtaking, extremely comfortable bed. Wells stocked kitchen. Quiet position only 5 rooms. Hot water with good pressure and great gas heater Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): - The personal service was outstanding- meeting us at the airport with the car. The apartment is in the best spot on Norfolk I believe! Such beauty in the views.. quiet..! The apartment was perfect, lovely comfortable bed and the heater was great for the cool nights. The full kitchen was quite well fitted out with cooking equipment and the furnishings were comfortable. Nothing. Norfolk roads are very rough but that's a NSW government issue it seems!
- Karen (10/5): -
- Earner (7/5): I think the location says it all. - The cleanliness and the views. The lounge is not comfortable and needs updating I think as you sink into it. Not good access to the apartment if you can’t walk up the rather steep incline or stairs as you can’t drive up to the apartment. Can’t see this on the website anywhere. I had to get someone to take my luggage for me both to and from the apartment and to be very careful going up and down the hill. Had no idea. I would have appreciated being made aware of this when I was met at the airport and just handed the key. I have a walking stick so it was an abvious problem I would have. Other guests may not be as lucky as me to be able to get up and down the hill or stairs. For me, it was worth it, for the view.
- Neale (10/5): Wish we’d stayed longer! - Quiet, comfortable, well equipped with fantastic views and good internet (Netflix streaming wasn’t a problem). It’s little out of town but close to the Kingston World Heritage area and wonderfully peaceful. Restaurants were a short drive away. Surprising amount of birdlife on or over the property: saw Nankeen Kestrels, Kingfishers, Silvereyes and other birds. Well-equipped with gas cooktop and gas oven, microwave, kettle and toaster, ironing board and iron, laundry and Weber BBQ on the back patio. Shower had hot water and plenty of pressure. Comfortable large bed.
- Alan (9/5): Will gladly stay again. - Well-appointed fully equipped accommodation in a great location, staff were great. We stayed 7-nights and it was very comfortable. Washing machine/dryer was difficult to figure out, never was able to get it to dry. TV could be bigger.
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible view!
Everything you needed was in the apartment.
Great spot on the island.
Fast WiFi onsite.
- Melanie (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (10/5): A very relaxing interesting and enjoyable stay at our accommodation and on Norfolk Island. - Excellent location with the best view on the Island. Very comfortable with all amenities that we needed. Would happily stay there again . Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narelle (9/5): Would definitely stay there again if we ever go back. - Location brilliant. Normal TV stations were unavailable. ( Temporary outage ??? )
- John (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was perfect for us and the view was stunning! Access from and into Middlegate Road was difficult and even scary.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): The view is amazing. - The view was outstanding and same for all rooms. Had everything you would need. Front balcony with ocean view over the historic area. Nothing. A second fan in bedroom would be helpful.
- Meagan (10/5): A great apartment with the perfect view. - Islander Lodge Apartments is a lovely place to stay for a great holiday on Norfolk Island. Located just 5 mins to town the apartment is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need and a few things you didn’t realise you might need. Then there’s the VIEW that you never tire of.
- Allan John (10/5): - After travelling around over the years we found this property in excess of most others, Great to be able to see around from the location of the accommodation. Clean and the fittings were great. I would recomment this property to all that required a great stay.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Amazing view with relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and good facilities. - The view is fantastic and the glass doors enable a wonderful panorama from inside the apartment. The kitchen facilities are a little dated but everything worked fine with microwave, fridge-freezer and cooker all clean and easy to use. The bed was comfortable, bathroom shower and facilities good and the wi-if was excellent. We didn’t use the TV or the provided mobile phone but it was appreciated to have both available. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Location is great for the historic area of Kingstown and the beaches. A few extra items are needed in the kitchen, e.g. a non-stick pan, a colander, a pair of oven gloves (not just one!) and a proper handle on the grill pan in the oven. Separate recyclable compartments in the kitchen rubbish bin would make recycling easier plus better instructions about what goes where. Air conditioning would be useful on humid days. A dishwasher would be also be great. Full enclosure of the rear patio would be good to stop people from walking down the rear of the apartments.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eamonn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Very good - Super location, although the turn when coming up the hill from Kingston is a bit dicey. A pothole on the ‘turn’ has been there for over a year! Insect screen on the front door and windows would help to control the insect invasions.
Pedestal fan that is provided is OK, but a ceiling fan in the bedroom is required
- Fiona (8/5): Lovely - Location was beautiful Needs more of an outdoor/undercover area. The sun is basically on you morning and afternoon when out the front.
- Eitan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sami (10/5): The perfect getaway for a relaxing trip - The views are amazing
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosienigel (10/5): Wonderful short stay - Fabulous location - beautiful view, very comfortable and quiet. Very well appointed kitchen and bathrooms nothing - incredibly well appointed and comfortable stay
- Heather (9/5): Fantastic accommodation. If we come back to Norfolk we will definitely book Islander Lodge again. - The views were outstanding. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. It had excellent WiFi too. We loved everything about it. Car park is a bit far from apartment.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mirella (10/5): We were there seven nights so would have appreciated some more tea bags and coffee and herbal tea. - Exceptional location overlooking Kingston heritage sites and the reef and bays. Superb king bed. Exceptionally comfortable. Apartment was fully equipped - everything you could possibly need in the kitchen (even a wine cooler and picnic basket!) and in the combined, spacious bathroom and laundry. Comfortable, wooden outdoor furniture too! Views! Views! Views!
- Denise E. (10/5): - The view was fantastic and we had a couple of spectacular sunsets. To be able to sit on the balcony with that view was incredible. It overlooks the historic Kingston, so a few kms out of town but still some good eating options close by. Definitely need a car. Would use them again if possible.
- Amanda (10/5): A great place to relax and reset - The view
- Lisa (10/5): If we are ever fortunate enough to revisit Norfolk Island we will aim to stay here again - Apparently, we were met at the airport but this was not communicated to us.
As we had hired a car from another provider we simply collected our car from the airport & proceeded to the property after getting supplies in town & exploring dining options.
Unfortunately, this caused much confusion with the hosts thinking that we had not caught our flight!!
The result was that there was no one at the property & no keys:((
Thankfully, another guest had a local mobile & was able to connect us with the hosts.
So, our only suggestion is that it be made clear that the hosts will greet guests at the airport to hand over the keys, please, preferably via email prior to arrival:))
- Peter (9/5): Superb - The location is amazing overlooking historic Kingston and the ocean. The foreshore is an easy walk from the Lodge.
- Bill (9/5): Fabulous friendly relaxing Norfolk in a wonderful quiet unit. - Fabulous location - quiet, a couple of kilometres out of town (need a car) near top of hill with fantastic view over historic buildings, beach, offshore islands and out to see. Well equipped we were in Unit 1 (which has best views), roomy, well set up kitchen, seperate bedroom with ensuite bathroom and shower. Unit had washing machine (with powder provided) clothese line, and deck chairs out front to sit and look out to sea. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We had a very relaxing enjoyable time. Absolutely nothing. Great unit, great location. Just make sure you have a hire car because too far to walk to town where all the facilities of Norfolk Island are located.
- Penny (10/5): It was wonderful to be immersed in the convict, Pitcairn and military history of the island. - The unit was very well set up for self-catering, but the best thing was the amazing views from the unit. It certainly lived up to the claim of "Unsurpassed Views"! Nothing!
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Artëm (9/5): That's the only place I'd stay at on Norfolk Island - Indeed, absolutely fantastic views over the ocean, Philip Island, and the ghost town of Kingston. Quiet, only the waves roaring below. The comfort level is of a good Australian holiday park, everything is not new but clean and well-maintained. Plenty of walking around: Kingston itself, pier and the beaches, the stunning Flagstaff hill, etc. – just account for the fact that hills are indeed hilly :). Yes, it's a bit far from all the cafes, so you either need a car to drive to Burnt Pine, bring some supplies (the kitchen was fully functional, which was nice) or just walk up the hill for a while (which we enjoyed but might not be for everyone). The front door didn't have a flyscreen.
- Annette (10/5): Simply incredible views. 5 star comfort & everything supplied to have picnics, or cook meals. - The beds & linen were the most comfortable luxurious I’ve ever experienced. The views are outstanding. In fact, probably the best on the Island. Nothing. It was perfect.
- Jessica (10/5): Fantastic location and stay - super comfortable and nostalgic. - The view, the peace and quiet, all of the self sufficient amenities - perfect and could’ve stayed for weeks!
- Mark (10/5): Very enjoyable - It gave us the best views on the island
- Cliff (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allison (9/5): Superb -
- Yvonne (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (10/5): Perfect, beautiful and very restful - The thing I love the most about this property is the amazing view of Kingston and Phillip Island
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - The views are unsurpassed.
The unit was well appointed.
All the staff were amazing - extremely pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and caring. Nothing!
- Philip (10/5): - This accommodation has unsurpassed views. It is terrific just sitting in the outdoor area looking at the vista. The areas in the unit are reasonably large & comfortable.
- Kathleen (10/5): Perfect - We loved the view of course and the ease of acquiring the hire car. The bbq was awesome to cook up locally bought meat and fish. The unit had everything needed for a week including dishwasher and washing machine. The walk to the historic Kingston area was easy but uphill on the way back so we only did it a couple of times. The tv was great and had enough channels. The wifi was amazing. Although we were told only 2GB it ended up being unlimited for the stay which is definitely a positive! Everything in the apartment was well looked after. They share their bananas too but unfortunately for our stay they were still green. Recycling well organised too. We would definitely stay here again. The wire bristle cleaning brush for the BBQ needs to go. The little wire bristles come off. If we knew, we would have bought you one without wire and left it for you! We should’ve bought a bottle of tomato sauce too! Maybe next stay!
- Edwina (10/5): Beautiful and tranquil - Great view and very nice host. The property description states that a bus from the airport is offered and it wasn’t. The description needs to be updated.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathie (10/5): A fabulous place to stay - The location was wonderful and we could walk down to the swimming beach, although a little walk up the hill on the way home. Lots to do nearby. The view was stunning, could even see the sunrise and sunset through the trees. The rooms were large and well appointed with very comfortable beds. We appreciated being able to use the washing machine. The kitchen meant we were able to cook several meals here. We would definitely return! Nothing, it was perfect
- Janelle (9/5): Perfect, quiet getaway with the most stunning views - Stunning views from the living area and front deck over Kingston and Emily Bay. Short drive into town. Comfortable with everything we required for a self catering stay. Our hire car was organised through the property. Our plane was many hours late after being diverted via Auckland. Both the man from the property and the man from the hire car were at the airport to meet us. By this time it was dark and the man from the property got us to follow him back to the property. The entrance would have been hard to find at night. As it was Sunday when we left we returned the car to the airport and left the keys in the ignition when we flew out. This was not our first visit and we did not want to be in Burnt Pine. Hiwever you do need to drive to everywhere you want to go. You could walk down to the Kingston ruins but it is a steep walk back up and you have to walk on the narrow road. A second fan for the bedroom would be good. We had to carry it back and forward from the living area and it was quite bulky.
- Tamsin (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning View!!
- Jane (10/5): Very relaxing, spectacular view, well equipped rooms - Excellent location Nothing
- Gale (9/5): Superb - Amazing views and location, so peaceful and relaxing. Best views on the island, we will definitely stay here again when we next visit. Very clean throughout, well equipped kitchen, including a picnic basket with blanket and utensils. Clean and spacious bathroom with plenty of spare towels including beach towels and a washing machine. Comfortable bed and pillows and lots of storage space. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. No fly screens on front windows and therefore bugs and moths came in at night when we opened the windows to let in the lovely cooling breeze. However, there were fly screens on the back windows and door, so we could open the bathroom and bedroom windows and door at night. No problems during the day with bugs coming in open windows.
- Michelle (10/5): Loved our stay - The location is incredible. Cute, relaxing comfortable place to stay.
- Graeme (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - Quality of the apartment and exceptional views
- Isabel (10/5): Very relaxing stay - Excellent service The views
