- Roland (8/5): - Mixed experience: - The whole of Al Ras appears to have a mild cockroach problem, likely because it's a working port. - The laundry service (a) discarded my laundry bag; and (b) wrote my room number in indelible ink on the inside of my shirt collars. They were beautifully ironed, but... - The area is the pre-1960 oyster-diving village, and it shows! Narrow windy laneways, low-rise buildings, souks and individual merchants all over the place. The nearby dhow wharfage is a working port, and the tenants in the ground floor of the hotel are merchants trading grains and spices. - The room was spacious and comfortable. - The staff were friendly and helpful.

While we ask for taxi, they will call private transportation, worst then Dubai Taxi, and the price will be 4,5 times expensive to normal Dubai's taxi 3. No parking at the hotel, we need to pay private parking on the basement of the hotel, and its expensive.

The abra, metro station, and many good restaurants are nearby. Next time we will be in Dubai we will certainly choose Hafez Hotel again.

- Verified traveler (2/5): So disgusting and disappointing. - The place is untidy and the sheets are smelly (like a dog has been lying there) the bed had a lot of bed bugs and there were gross semen leftovers on the bedrest and closet. All of the things are creaking and all were broken doors on the cabinets which is also dirty and rusty. The environment around it also doesn’t feel safe. As a tourist, I would not recommend this place, and they don’t give refunds. I wish they will give my money back.

Looks old and dirty from the outside, reception is bad with a foul smell. No WiFi available at the reception.

Out of courtesy I called to say they would land late for arrival . By then he said we gave out your room and canceled the booking . Straight after my call they then sent a message saying credit card not approved to cover themselves. I used the same card later that evening to book another property very last minute . Their reception was very very rude and is obviously not used to dealing with people in a civil manor but must just deal with people like a street trader or worse . Avoid it there are better deals anywhere else in dubai than here

Our window was broken and left on the floor so we had there only huge hole. No towels. No toilet paper. NEVER MORE!

I had a 7 day reservation pre paid and when i reached hotel, the receptionist informed that they do not have any intimation and just asked me to look for some other hotel or contact the booking site. I showed them all payment details and at last i had to wait for 5 hours to get one room. Absolutely bad hotel

- Joseph (10/5): Clean, Spacious Apartment-Hotel - VERY NICE !!! the hotel was actually an apartment , large and spacious rooms, with kitchen, counters , and kitchen table and utensils for cooking , nice TV, with 1,000 channels, the staff helps us with arranging the english channels and resequencing then for easy access , the movies and news . The guy at the front desk was allways polite and helpful, when the main guy was not there, there was a secondary guy at front desk, so it was manned 24 hrs a day, he kept our key and valuables when we were out. the room was tiled, and easy to keep clean. I think it is labeled as a 3 star hotel, but with what I saw, it was more like a 4 star, I am sure a few years ago , when new it was like a 5 star. We think it is AMAZING .. thanks Staff at Hafez, and thanks OYO for promoting it

- sharukh93 (10/5): Excellent stay Centrally located - Well maintained Hotel and communal areas and also very accommodating for any need, this is the best of the best. its cheap but worth every penny, a wonderful experience of lifetime was made possible not by just the hotel and staff but by the positive attitude of the region and its hospitality towards travelers this is certainly a hotel that i look forward to stay again.

Very freindly staff and very help ful indeed. it is the hygiene that i faced some issues with. there are just a lot of cockroaches despite almost daily spray of insecticide there were lots of cockroaches. the hotel needs a thorogh pest control.
- Pathfinder115564 (4/5): Hafez Hotel - Hospitality being our family business we could see the infrastructural investment made by the owners of this hotel. The marble floors, well equipped studio rooms, with every amenity just like home, effective central AC, clothes iron, ironing board, electric hot plates, pots and pans with crockery, truly a cost effective place to stay for families who want to cook their own food. The major challenge though are the staffing, cleaners and hygiene. We stayed for 2weeks, the cleaners, can't, won't and don't clean even after we left out studio keys and instructed they clean. They cleaned only once through out our two week stay after a lot of insisting on our end. The studio room and the one we were relocated to was coachroach infested, even inside the microwave. Marble floored bathrooms were never cleaned so they were slippery, the cleaners won't give floor towels and even told us to use body towels on the floor when we kept on asking for a solution to the water on the bathroom floor. The shower curtain is more of a nudity cover and actually dripped water on the floor as it was ridiculously short! Although its a none smoking hotel,which was why we chose it, the staff reeked of cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke which filtered into our room via the AC air vent as if someone was smoking right inside our room. I couldn't breathe! When we complained the staff asked us if they could bring air freshener! Can you imagine? Hafez hotel has so much potential as it could be the choice hotel for any international wholesale shoppers and traveller as well as people travelling with family because of its location and infrastructure BUT they need to work on their staffing, the cleanliness and hygiene of this hotel. I would have checked out and requested for a full refund if not for my older aunt travelling with me who loved the shopping environment. This hotel deserves to be a member of the OYO chain but must work on the short comings identified above.

- irietraveling (4/5): Budget motel/hotel walking distance to Gold Souk - The price matches what you get. This hotel will serve your basic needs. It's similar to a roadside motel in the U.S. It badly needs updating especially the bathrooms. Our shower did not drain well and created a big soggy puddle each time we used it. However it served our needs. We stayed here only 1 night because our flight arrived after midnight and the hotel in our package deal wouldn't allow check in until 3 pm later that day so we booked this place to sleep after our very long flight. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean enough. All this is in line with the price point. Con: It was a very big surprise when the front desk asked my husband and I to provide a marriage certificate to prove we were married. They said something about not letting unmarried people share a room. So be aware of that. Luckily I happen to travel with a copy of our marriage certificate. Pro: It's walking distance to the Gold Souk Markets for an old time Dubai shopping experience. They provide you with comfy bedroom slippers which we needed with the shower puddles. It has a kitchenette area with dishes, knives forks, spoons, glasses etc if you want to make tea or cook.

- rohitshindez (6/5): Dow view is awesome sight to see when you get up in the morning. - It's a nice place to stay a bit away from bustling areas but effectively connected. Metro Stations is just two mins away . Bus services are with stone throwing distance. Nice staff, they actually helped me to get myself shifted twice. The electric stove needs to be upgraded big time given the fact that it is supposed to be serviced apartment.
- TA_Member36 (8/5): Clean, comfortable, spacious, well-situated apartment - The ensuite apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. Close to the Al Ras metro station, so all of Dubai's sights were within easy reach (recommend purchase a silver card which works on the metro, trams and buses) . Small, cooking area (facilities limited to a microwave and a hot plate). Limited cooking utensils, although the friendly, helpful staff provided additional utensils on request. WiFi available but a little slow. Wide-screen TV, although the only English-language channel we could find was French News 24 (channel 105). Air-conditioning was effective (and necessary!). Good value for money (booked through Expedia). Only issue: Our room had a (locked) connecting door to the adjacent room, which meant that we could hear any noise made from the adjacent room (could be a problem late at night).

Quite dirty floor with water flowing from the bottom of the fridge. From positives: close to the metro station, enough space in room for four people, a kitchen (poorly equipped) and a working AC. I would look for something else next time.
- motasema101 (2/5): Awful Service and hygiene - Everyone I warn you do not book this hotel, yes it's one of the cheapest in Dubai, however it's horrible when it comes to service and cleanness. I stayed in Hafez hotel for about 4 days, and it was one of the worst experiences ever. The room was dirty and empty, not towels, no coffee, no housekeeping. On my first day they did not even give me an access card/key to my room because another customer before me has lost the card, so every time I had to enter my room I had to ask them to open the door for me, after I have complained about this it took them two days to find a key to give it to me. My room was never cleaned ever since my stay, I had to check out two days earlier even though I had two days left. When I told the receptionist about their bad service and lack of hygiene, he told me if you wanted your room cleaned you should have called us!! Really ?? I have never ever in my life had to call anybody to clean my room, this was a first for me. Also I had seen bugs and cockroaches in the room. The room was dirty as hell, look at the photos.
- johnlovell41 (6/5): Good value for money - I stayed at the Hafez recently for 6 weeks and, although it wasn’t the Ritz, I was very satisfied with the accommodation considering the price. The bed was comfortable and the room would have been cleaned every day if I had wished- I settled for every 5 days when a good job was effected including a bedding change. If there was a cooking utensil required, the attentive staff would supply it without question. The staff were polite and helpful. The location was perfect being close to the gold and spice souks,the dhow loading area and the abra stations along the creek and also a Metro station. Having lived in Dubai for over 27 years before retiring back to uk, I was pleased to experience this area of the city which was not well known to me. On booking this place I was slightly dismayed to read reviews from other travellers but decided to proceed with my booking. I must say to those negative reviewers that I hope they enjoyed the rest of their stay at the Burj where obviously they got the treatment and accommodation to which they are accustomed. And to those who photographed cockroaches I would advise that in my time in Dubai I never lived in any accommodation that was always free of these pests and in this older part of the city I expect this is more true. I just contacted the desk and the problem was dealt with. Finally I have to say that the view from my balcony overlooking the Creek and Port Rashid was excellent, I having worked in that Port for many years. Should I require accommodation in future I would have no hesitation in staying at the Hafez again. John Lovell
- ruthw344 (8/5): A room with a view! - If, like me, you love to visit Dubai but you are on a limited budget, this is the perfect hotel for you! Situated in old Dubai, you are in the heart of the traditional souks and markets. The famous Spice Market is a short walk away as is the Gold Souk and Perfume Market. All your reasonably priced holiday present shopping within easy access of the hotel. Across the road is the Al Ras Metro Station. For 25 Dirhams, purchase a travel card and the Burj Khalifa is 15 minutes away! The airport is 10 minutes away, faster and cheaper than the taxis! I would take the poor reviews with a pinch of salt... the hotel was clean with a charming reception area. Lifts to all floors and the rooms were a good size. Ours had a balcony and overlooked the creek. Gorgeous! The bed was comfortable and the sheets were changed when we left our key with reception. No problem! The staff were busy, but polite and helpful. We will return to this hotel. Can’t say fairer than that!

- armrihat (6/5): Not bad - Stay for short time is good with this hotel and offer, but the receptionist not bad, concierge very helpful. Has a good location and I’m not expected much but the rooms was clean, wifi very well, is old furniture but still manage and looks unique.
- Nadachreim (2/5): Horrible hotel - The worst hotel I have visited in my life. Very dirty and old furniture. Bad smell everywhere. Bad service and rude receptionist. I have left before completing the two nights I have reserved because my family couldn’t sleep on the very old beds with bad smell
- Des (8/5): Hafez Hotel is the place to stay on a low budget - It is close to a metro station so easy access to go anywhere in Dubai. The manager, Mr Kutty is very friendly and helpful and also the other gentleman. The staff always responded to our requests so cheerfully. a good safe place for a family. I will definitely plan to stay there on my next visit. Our family of 6 reunion was wonderful for Christmas and new year.

- donricos (2/5): Really bad deal!!! - Booked for 4 days with visitor from South Africa. Stayed one day and wanted to cancel the last 3 days. Manager/ staff unbelievably rude. Not willing to assist in any way. Everything not up to standard. Even the towels we were given didn't belong to the hotel! The television wire was inserted into the plug socket without a plug!! Etc etc.. Please don't waste a cent staying there.
- Evan (8/5): Nice place in an okay area - I stayed here for 5 days. Although the receptionists were curt, the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. I regret that I did not take sufficient opportunity to explore the immediate vicinity, but it appeared to be a relatively quiet, peaceful area with some historic houses, museums and some famous local markets nearby. Overall, the hotel and its location is alright, and the large rooms were comfortable and relaxing, especially with the kitchen counter and appliances where you can make your own meals and save a lot of money compared to eating out in Dubai.
- George (2/5): unclean Room (studio) but near Metro - I had an early check in. but the hotel staff (temporary) cheated me and requested 50 Durham. within one hour, he wanted me use his friend's car to look around Dubai. if I ask any details of Metro, he said. "I do not know it, Sorry" . the room has flies and other insets in it. (no bed bugs) floor was dirty. bathroom (vanity) was very dirty. (a clean towel was there) I asked him and other staff to arrange a taxi to go to the airport. I was advised by the friendly staff it would be 25 dirham. but this particular man said at the last minute, it will be 68 dirham. I got annoyed and put the phone down. then I took a road taxi and came to the airport for 23 dirham only.

- Manuel Jose (2/5): DREADFUL DISGUSTING HOTEL - The entre hotel is disgusting there were cockroaches everywhere and all sort of bugs in the room. Unsafe electrical cables and plugs, the air smells like someone died there three days before. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. When I entered the room for the first time I immediately when to the web to book online at Doubltree single bedroom for me and my family (four persons) and we rather preferred to stay all clustered together than laying one single finger in the cockroach nest that the Hameez hotel is.
- World Traveller (2/5): Terrible, dirty and smelly. - This hotel is disgusting. The rooms and bathrooms are filthy. There are cockroaches is the bath and the rooms smell like Dorthy ashtrays. The staff and manager weren't helpful at all and do nothing to rectify the problem. Please avoid at all costs!
- Jouni (4/5): Cheap place - Unpleasant staff and somewhat out of date rooms but ok for the price (you get what you pay for). Right next to a metro station and walking distance to the souk. Good place to sleep cheap in Dubai but don't expect anything else.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the metro and it is center to all the attractions. However it doesn't meet the standard of a three star hotel. It is good for singles for one night. They could do better if they can keep it cleaner.
- EJ (2/5): PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL AS IT IS 1 STAR ONLY - Even though hotel is close to most of the gold buying places, the beds are full of bed bugs and also the toilets are extremely bad. We could not even get our bags into the hotel without dragging them on the road for about 100 feet, it is not a joke when you have 5 full luggages. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. Starts given to this hotel is totally misleading. Walking towards the hotel like walking within an open market. Full of traffic.

- Tracie (2/5): Worst hotel ever - The taxi took forever to find the location of the hotel, got to the hotel and everything was a mess. The elevator was wack. Smell like cheap perfume and the room was worst. I requested a king bed upon booking and got to my room and there were 2 twin beds in there. I called the front desk incoming them that I needed a king and was told that the beds were 2 kings... Smh the only thing that was great about the hotel is there was a shopping strip on the opposite street. Everything is was horrible I was afraid to sleep in the bed and afraid to take a shower. The toilet was untidy and I didn't receive and towels or anything. It was a mess. I will never stay there again.
- Ray (4/5): Place to avoid! - I got a truly terrible room -- dirty, with broken bits of furniture, plus tobacco smoke kept coming through the air conditioning! I was given another room after pretending to be a travel agent (!?). I was asked to pay extra 250 dirhams as I was staying for 25 nights -- no mention of this when I made the initial booking via Experia. Room only cleaned if you left your card at reception. Leaking toilet. Portable shower broke in the second week. At least the window could be opened. The hotel should either change management that will have respect for their visitors -- or be closed down. The only positive thing was the hotel's proximity to to Al Ras metro station.
