Lovely view from decking outside the restaurant Dislikes Very overpriced for the room (£246.59 for one night). View of the carpark and not the views. Bedrooms and Bar tired looking and need upgraded. Showerhead unstable. Shower did not get hot until I ran the tap. Very loud noise from next room key when being used (late night and early morning). One of the wall lights continually flickered. I can imagine that the hotel was amazing when it was first built but it is very run down now and in need of an upgrade. The website mentions gardens, but there were no gardens, there is a decking area only. The staff were lovely, attentive and very professional, it's just the hotel and value for money that lets it down.

- Stephanie (10/5): - It was fantastic that you can literally get off the Scot rail train at Morar and walk 50m to the door of the hotel! Which was especially amazing given it was pouring rain when we arrived. It was a lovely little place, friendly helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant. Restaurant food was fabulous, and we saw an amazing sunset through the clouds as our meal ended and the rain stopped. Excellent and memorable stay. Many thanks to the reception desk employee, young lady, who helped us figure out how to get to the ferry by local bus the next morning in time, as the local taxi service was already booked up!

- Julia (4/5): Great view but wouldn't recommend - Check in was at 3pm, I did there 30 mins early bit no one around so got a drink eventually at the bar and waited. Checked in at 3pm and room wasnt ready, so had to wait another 30mins. Hotel is a bit dated, room wasn't clean, yet had to pay an extra £20 for my dog, which I presume goes towards the cleaning. I didnt complain as I had been travelling since 3am and had already been told the hotel was fully booked with a coach party, and when i went back down there were queues at reception. When i checked in I booked a table in the bar for food. Went down, took a table and then was ignored a few times before I eventually asked if I could order some food, they saod they would be back in a minute and then disappeared. I ended up leaving and driving into the port to eat there. The only plus point with this hotel is the view from my room (not all rooms have a sea view).
- Christopher (10/5): - Comfortable and clean and friendly. A bit spartan. Very good restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Listed under Skye but on the mainland side of the ferry. Economical way to be close enough to Skye to spend a day and local walking is enjoyable.
- John (10/5): - Lovely small, older hotel. Clean and comfortable, very welcoming staff with surprisingly good restaurant. The only downside is the rather bizarre location. The hotel snd adjacent train whistle stop are about all there is to the tony hamlet of Morar. The options for getting to the larger village of Mallaig (2.75 miles away) are quite limited if you don’t have your own car. You can wait for the twice a day train, take your chances with the intermittently available single car for hire, or hoof it.

I was able to take him with me to dinner and breakfast, he was allowed in the bar, and there was a special area for guests with dogs next to the restaurant. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The view of the sea from the window was wonderful. The area is peaceful. I would definitely stay there again.

- Jodi (2/5): - Do not waste your time or money!!!!This was our family dream vacation to Scotland and up until our visit to the Morar Hotel we were having a great time. We had booked months in advance and the accommodations were not cheap. So you could imagine our disappointment when we walked into our Hostel like condition of a room with the view of an brick wall. The hotel should have had a disclaimer and definitely should have been discounting this room. (To be honest I would even offer a room like this)The phone didn't work, water pressure was awful, beds sucks and it wasn't very clean. We asked to be moved to another room and they could accommodate us so we asked to have the stay cancelled. The on duty manager who couldn't speak English had to call another manager for me to talk with. That manager said he would only refund us the second night, which was a joke to begin with. After securing a new hotel 3+hours away we left only to return to Canada and to receive an email telling us they won't be refunding us our money. This was quite a shock to us and it really tells you a lot about he management of this hotel/Hotel chain. They could care less about their clients, they used false advertisement to secure our stay and they didn't honor the commitment or their word to us on the refund. The only pleasant part was dealing with the lady at the front desk, who's hands were tied. Thanks for a terrible experience Morar management team and for not honoring you word. Avoid this hotel!

They are doing some painting on the outside of the building which meant scaffolding on the outside and in front of our ocean view window - which had plastic draped across it so that we could not see the view even-though we had paid extra for the view.

The setting and view of the hotel (the deck!) was unbelievable, as were the nearby Silver Sands. That said, I echo others in saying the price does not match the quality of the rooms. This hotel really is in need of renovation. The downstairs common area and dining room are lovely, so hopefully the rooms can eventually meet this standard. I’m really rooting for the Morar Hotel - I had a lovely stay despite, and hope future renovations will bring the rooms up to snuff.

The dinner was nice. I got the mussells and they were fresh in a tasty sauce with some crusty bread. Huge portion! I couldnt finish and I can eat!

- Joanne (8/5): - The hotel is in a beautiful location very close to the silver sands of Morar and a few miles from Mallaig. We had fabulous weather and stunning views from our bedroom. Staff were extremely helpful and our one evening meal was excellent. The interior of the hotel needs a bit of tlc but is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

I had a bit of trouble with check-in but once that was resolved the rest of my stay was perfect. The sea view from my room was gorgeous. Tuan in the dining room and Nadia at reception were exceptional.

- john (10/5): Great quiet hotel with a view - A quiet hotel just a 10 minute drive from Mallaig. Very friendly staff. We did have a room with an ocean view but it got a little noisy in the morning since it was located over the dining area.

- Linnea (8/5): - There is nothing else in Morar, no place to eat when the restaurant in the hotel is closed. No shopping and no places of interest. I arrived on the train at 2:00 p.m. and wasn’t allowed to check in until 3:00. After a five hour train ride with no food I was extremely hungry but the restaurant in the hotel didn’t open until 6:00 p.m. What to do on a cold and windy day when I couldn’t check into my room? And then what to do until 6:00 when I’m really hungry? My advice is don’t choose this hotel if you depend on the train schedule and don’t have a car. The photo on the website is deceptive because it makes it look like it’s close to the bay. It’s not. But the view of the bay from the restaurant and from rooms that face the bay is quite lovely, even in the rain.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely convenient location near ferry. - The Morar Hotel offers easy parking and amazing views. It’s located only a few minutes from Mallaig and the ferry/train. Staff is friendly. The property itself is older and walls between rooms are thin; however the value was good for the price of room. They do offer single rooms that face the water—a bonus for a solo traveler. There is a restaurant onsite that was very good.

- HEATHER (8/5): - My daughter upgraded us to a seaview and my gosh that made all the difference. The views of the water and beaches were fabulous. The hotel itself is a bit far from the actual town so we had to drive. Nadia, at the front desk , is a gem and we enjoyed our chats with her. The dining room is lovely and the food is good. The terrace is such a lovely place to sit out on and have a drink and enjoy the sunshine. Carrying luggage up 3 flights was a bit of a challenge but the room was quite lovely. Only downside really was the plug in near the mirror didnt work so trying to do one's hair was a challenge with a hairdryer/curling iron. They had the loveliest Scottish Soap . Very comfy beds. Staff in bar and in restaurant were also very nice.

It was located in a remote village and the hotel restaurant prices were quite high. The only other option was a Thai takeaway which was terrific! The hotel could use some TLC but otherwise an acceptable place for one night.

We had a view of the water, and this was one of the best views we’ve ever seen. The hotel is up on a hill overlooking the river and bay and you can’t find a more idyllic setting. We ate dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and the food was incredible. It was the best meal we had out of 10 days in Scotland, by far!
- John (8/5): Clean comfy, I wouldn't avoid it. - I booked this room on price being the best I could find in the area. Plenty of parking staff all seems nice. My room was a single with a small ensuite but all functional. The shower head wouldn't stay up so if you find a rubber band holding it up its mine. I experienced a power cut in the morning but as no else seemed bothered it must have just been my room. Thought the price of food was a bit steep but no complaints about the quality of the evening meal. gave breakfast a miss as I thought the price for that was extortionate. Wi Fi was good.
