Guest Reviews
- Mary (9/5): -
- Anne (10/5): My first choice always - Beautiful, clean, updated, historic and charming.
- Z9996UZmarkd (10/5): Feels like home - Really special property. They should update their website because the pictures do not do the rooms justice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar was closed but it looks amazing and I can't wait to go back and try the restaurant.
- S9517QLjanel (10/5): Great Place to Relax and Escape the Busyness of Life! - The Granville Inn is a charming historical Inn. The service is impeccable, the rooms are cozy and very clean and they provide a wonderful breakfast. The Inn provides a formal dining room with a relaxing bar area in their restaurant. They have a Happy Hour and amazing food. This is a great place to stay to get away from the busy city life. It is also fun to walk the paths around Granville as well as the the quaint downtown area.

- kirkvana (10/5): Wonderful stay - The building is beautiful. Room was very nice. Had dinner in The Oak Room, it was great. Continental breakfast was nice, could have used a little better variety of bagels. Only had "everything" bagels, some plain would have been nice.
- 297bridgetp (10/5): Girls' Trip - My girlfriends and I went to the Granville Inn for a weekend getaway. We were very pleased with our suite and rooms there, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The included continental breakfast was amazing. The restaurant at the inn was cozy and perfect for dinner and drinks with friends. Outside the Inn, restaurants and boutiques are in walking distance. Perfect weekend with friends!
- Laura (9/5): Still a very nice stay - Breakfast was fresh and light. I requested the king suite, but it only had a queen bed. Disappointed
- dtccprez (6/5): A very disappointing Visit - A very disappointing stay. Although an older hotel with some charm, it had the following shortcomings during our stay:
No place to sit in the room. Just two beds,
The heating system kept the both of us up the four nights we stayed. It was terribly noisy.
No refrigerator in the room so we expected at least two bottles of water each evening but none was provided.
The continental breakfast was awful with warm not hot coffee, limited tasteless danishes, and warm oatmeal. Very disappointing for a hotel with such a high rating. We stayed 12/22 thru 12/26 so perhaps the staffing was rather thin.
- SallyJo2727 (10/5): Charming Hotel - Charming old hotel in the heart of town. Rooms were updated with new bathrooms. Great place to stay while visiting Denison!
- Relax33299521130 (6/5): Stay at the Granville Inn - My wife and I stayed at the Granville Inn for our anniversary, and this was our second stay. We first visited about three years ago and had a wonderful experience, which is why we chose to return and purchased the Romance Package this time.
Unfortunately, this visit marked the first time we were truly disappointed—specifically with the breakfast. Three years ago, the breakfast was a hot, well-rounded meal that included eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, and a good balance of protein and carbohydrates. It felt thoughtful and appropriate for the price point and the experience the Inn represents.
This time, however, the breakfast was a basic continental offering consisting of sugary, carb-heavy items and stale pastries, with little to no protein. This was especially disappointing given the cost of the stay and the expectations set by our previous visit. We travel frequently, and even hotels at a much lower price point routinely offer far better breakfast options than what was provided here.
We were told that the owners have chosen not to staff a hot breakfast, despite multiple guests expressing similar concerns. That is troubling, as it suggests customer feedback is not being taken seriously. Ignoring consistent guest concerns is a recipe for disappointment and dissatisfied customers—particularly at a property that positions itself as a premium experience.
To be clear, this was the only negative aspect of our stay. Everything else met our expectations. However, for a stay that is not inexpensive and is meant to feel special—especially for an anniversary—a cold, sugar-heavy continental breakfast fell far short.
We truly hope the owners reconsider this decision and listen to their loyal customer base. Restoring a quality breakfast would go a long way toward preserving the experience that made us want to return in the first place.
Thank you for listening.

- Williams (9/5): - Great location and excellent staff. Very enjoyable stay.
- Adventure57123782752 (10/5): A charming night away - The Inn is really lovely. It blends a beautiful and charming identity with modern amenities. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with lovely touches like fresh furniture, high end bath products and Keurig coffee on every floor. The restaurant looked fantastic, but we did not have the chance to enjoy it. The staff we encountered we very friendly. When returning to the area, we will definitely stay here again.
- Michael (9/5): - Great location! The atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is very welcoming and cozy. Bed in the room was very comfortable. We asked for a 1 hour extension to check out as we stayed on a Tuesday night and there were not many guests. They allowed a half an hour but then charge you for any additional time.
- Tiago (10/5): A stunning place reminiscent of old Ohio, perfect for a cozy escape. - The hotel is magnificent inside and out. We arrived late, but the staff at check-in were very attentive. The room was cozy, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast could have offered more options, but since the hotel isn’t very large, it seemed sufficient and helped avoid unnecessary food waste.
- Turski (10/5): -
- Amy (10/5): - Room was nicely appointed and clean, but on the small side. And the staff was helpful and friendly.
- Timothy (8/5): - The lighting was inadequate in the bathroom.
Unable to properly use bathroom mirror, due to poor lighting.
Also, need the ability to angle TV,so someone
sitting in the chair can see it.
- Lawrence (10/5): - Clean and comfortable accommodations. Good local close to shops and eateries. Shower on the small side and shower curtain allowed water on the bathroom floor.
- Lori (10/5): - Very nice
- Ronald (10/5): - The entire staff was superb. All were attentive to guests and were sincerely interested in if I needed anything during my 4 day stay. The Granville Inn is conveniently located for Denison activities and local shopping with merchants who are attentive to the needs of their clients as well. I highly recommend this establishment and will certainly stay there on my next visit to Granville, OH.
- Stefan (8/5): - Best dinner in town
- Deja (8/5): - Night Auditor was not my favorite. I asked to extend my stay an extra day & he said the entire hotel was booked. I spoke to Jay the next morning & he said there was definitely a room available. Bar hours are kinda funky & breakfast is very underwhelming. Prime rib sandwich is to die for. Rooms are tiny & the drawers on the nightstand & chests are not easy to move. The property is insanely beautiful & there deer on the front lawn at night. Nice overall.
- Judith (10/5): - Charming decor and furnishings.
Comfortable bedding
Spacious rooms
Close, convenient parking
Centrally located
Excellent service in both hotel and restaurant
LOVED the 24/7 coffee bar on each floor. What’s not to like??
- Charles (10/5): - great location
- Gillian (10/5): - We love this inn and have stayed here before. The location and area cannot be more perfect but the room and bathroom were looking a little tired this time. Nonetheless, still give it 5 stars.
- Erin (8/5): Lovely historical inn set in center of town - Beautiful old inn in the center of Granville. Lovely restaurant. The bed wasn’t comfortable and there was a small piece of glass in the carpet by the bed that ended up cutting my toe. They came immediately and cleaned but would have been great to not have that happen.
- Michael (8/5): - super cute and very easy to like the property. room lacked amenities and parking a pickup was almost challenging,
also the continental breakfast was underwhelming considering the price and facilities available, but hard to find a more unique inn. i'd stay again, but might not be quite worth what i paid...
- Laura (10/5): - Cozy, quaint inn. Perfect for a relaxing getaway few days
- Adam (10/5): - Terrific!!!
- Judith (10/5): - Very nice.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Everything about this property was perfect. Walking distance but just outside the main hustle and bustle of town. Absolutely beautiful and feels clean and modern. Will definitely be back!
- ashleyaC4283RE (4/5): Don’t Expect Much - Reservation table was not ready, Prime rib was tough, food didn’t come out in a consistent manner, service was incredibly slow, tried to charge us extra fees that could have been resolved by a requested (3 times) moment to speak with the server.
I think we were treated as a nuisance table because I asked to speak to the server 3 times to store a cake and no one would speak with me and then they tried to charge us a cake cutting fee. Used to be fairly regular patrons and it was so bad, my family said they wouldn’t go back.
- Steve (10/5): - Historic, lovely, well run, friendly staff, great town.
- Matt (9/5): -
- Jerry (10/5): - Pretty much everything. The Inn is true to its past. The staff was very friendly. The place was clean and spacious. Nothing
- Saea (10/5): - It was beautiful and comfortable!
- Richard (10/5): - Great property! Nice staff. Food was good!
- Teri (10/5): - Beautiful historic inn with modern updates. The staff is all pleasant and accommodating.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Room was clean and updated. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was better than a typical hotel breakfast. Overall a good stay. Would recommend.
- Stefanie L. (10/5): - We fell in love with this historic secluded beautiful place...great attentive staff, amazing dinner. Exceeded expectations. We were on a long road trip from California to Pennsylvania and chose to stay here to treat ourselves. The area all around was so walkable and quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Tom (10/5): - Excellent location and facilities
- Steven (10/5): - Noelle was especially helpful and friendly every morning for breakfast
- Charles (10/5): - Enjoyed the old charm of the Granville inn. Charming area to walk in town and enjoy the shops. Great frozen custard a couple blocks away. Just a nice stay
- Ronald (10/5): - Excellent quaint accomodations
- Kristi (6/5): - Loved the comfortable bed but the room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. We had to throw all of our leftovers away. Bathroom was very clean and we loved the outdoor space.
- Carol (10/5): - The rooms are lovely, but the staff is even more so. Situated near the center of Granville, it's an easy walk to much of what the village has to offer. We had a very pleasant stay.
- Richard (8/5): - Very nice except last night when A/c went out at midnight
- Suzanne (10/5): - Fabulous trip! Glad we spent 75$ more than budget. Continental breakfast, best ever! Scones, fresh fruit and delicious coffee.
- Michael (6/5): - Air went out in entire place. Asked for fan, didn’t ever get one.
- Chris (10/5): - I absolutely love this place! Reminds me of places I saw in Ireland. I will definitely be coming back here. So peaceful! Beautiful hotel!
- Alicia (10/5): - From the moment we arrived, the staff was so welcoming and attentive willing to help with any recommendations or anything else we need during our stay. We had dinner at the Oak room and our waiter. Daniel went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, striking that personable and memorable conversations while going us five star service and the food was amazing as well. The beds were super comfortable to the point we didn’t wanna get out of bed, honestly one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. There’s an older property with his little quirk, but will definitely go back and highly recommend!!!
- Patricia (9/5): Lovely location and stay. - The location to Denison University cannot be beat. The Granville Inn is the only game in town with the Buxton Inn being closed at the moment. I have stayed here multiple times over the last 40 years. The building is 101 years old and it is grand. The air condiitioning was spotty at best. The last night the room was stagnant and the fan would not kick on. In the morning, the front desk explained that a storm had knocked out some breakers which affected the air conditioning. I was surprised that the TVs are not smart TVs but perhaps that is more reason to unplug and enjoy the surroundings.
- Kelly (10/5): - We had a great time! The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and cute! Lots of charm, history, and character! The food was alos delicious!
- Stephen (10/5): - Great old inn. Great bar and friendly service. Good menu and tasty food
- Christine (10/5): - Love the quaintness of this hotel. So beautiful!
- Valerie (4/5): Nice setting, but rooms small and lacked furniture. - The room was very small and did not have a desk or any chairs at all. No place to sit other than on the bed. No fan in bathroom. Front desk personnel could be a little friendlier. Parking was very limited at times.
- Martha (10/5): - Lovely hotel, bar and restaurant. It is very close to downtown Granville. Excellent location!
- Brenda (10/5): Beautiful place to stay! - Beautiful place to stay! Spotless with such attention to detail. Smiling and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!
- John K (10/5): - Stayed here for a week while my daughter was at a program at Denison. Such a lovely stay in a beautiful inn. People were so friendly and my
- Marc (10/5): - What an beautiful hotel?! The Granville is serene but modern. Staff is incredibly polite. Location is perfect.
- Consolacion (10/5): - I liked that the original building was kept true to itself at the same time modernized in order to provide comfort to the guests. I love historical buildings so this hotel appealed to me very well.
- Shubhro (8/5): - Nice ambieb
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- wendy (10/5): - Beautiful, clean, place to stay

- Wiktor (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): A Great Place to Stay - A very relaxing and comfortable place, especially for people interested in the university.
- Ingrid (10/5): - Gorgeous, charming, loved the fireplace, nice bar, great staff
- Elizabeth (10/5): - This was such nice visit In a historic building that the staff truly cares about. It was excellent.
- Josephine (10/5): - The Inn was beautiful and the entire staff were top notch.
- Kamila (10/5): - When I first checked in the room I was given had a loud A/C unit but the lady at reception was amazing about it and she put me into a quieter room. Customer service here is great and I highly recommend this amazing inn.
- Dennis (10/5): - Great!
- Leah (6/5): Cozy hotel - I like the Granville Inn because of the location but the hotel staff have an unnecessary pretentious feel. The room I stayed in was nice and cozy and I appreciate the coffee/Keurig bar. The robes are cozy. The restaurant is good but not excellent. The mixed drinks are really good. If you order room service, you have to go down and pick it up - so it’s not traditional room service. The server at the restaurant was very sweet and knowledgeable. If you have heavy bags or are using a lot wheelchair - be sure to call ahead for assistance because they main entrance has a few steps and there isn’t anyone available to help. I’m certain there’s a ramp entrance somewhere but there isn’t clear signage.
- Wendy (9/5): Superb -
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional - The room and restaurant.
- Blandy (9/5): Great stay, the restaurant is so good and the location to Denison University is perfect! - The location was great and the hotel has so much charm! The room was a little small, especially the bathroom. I also wish there was some form of a gym.
- Dennis (10/5): - Great!
- Cecile (6/5): - No
- Joe (10/5): Hidden gem near Columbus - Wow what a gem near Columbus. Classy with small town local vibe. Drinks at the local Seek-No-Further Cidery were excellent. Trivia with the local college students was a challenging and fun.
- Louis (10/5): - Great location.
- Allan (10/5): - A wonderful place to celebrate every and any occasion
- Jennifer (10/5): - Always a great time!
- Dennis (10/5): - This is a lovely Inn - very clean and friendly staff.
- Paul (8/5): - This is a beautiful historic property, located in a charming village. Our second night stay was very nice and lived up to the Grandville Inn's standard. I felt some more accomodations should have been allowed for our poor room placement on Friday night. Nothing was offered to us, other than moving us to the type of room we had been promised for both nights. Moving us to a proper room the first night would have been most statifying!!!
The first nights stay was below their standards. It was poorly located and we felt like we were in the middle of a party and our room was down the hall where the bathroom is located. There were only 3 rooms off the hallway . You may have housed someone without a reservation there, but I felt it was a very poor choice for most people. Having a reservation about 1 week before for 2 nights, we were located in Room 110 which is very near the dining room, bar, and library all of which were fully being used by a single group on the Friday night when we arrived. It was unfortunate that we were not housed in the main section across the building. The ice machine, main desk, parking lot, and door to outside were all located there.
While still cool outside, we enjoyed the location and the beauty inside of the historic building.
- Susan (10/5): Thank you - My daughter and I were visiting Denison and chose to get a room at the Granville Inn. Amazing staff with a wonderful restaurant. Great location.
- Tom (10/5): - Very nostalgic building of a bye gone era. The architecture of this hotel cannot be duplicated but this hotel is better than a 5 star. The hospitality of the staff, the restaurant servings, and the history of Granville Inn is well worth the drive!
- Charlie (10/5): - The restaurant on site is the best! The table service is excellent. Great choice.
- Jackie (10/5): Quick stop - Great hotel. Staff was amazing and hotel was cute. Will be back.
- Tara (10/5): - It was great
- Anne (10/5): A lovely comfortable stay. - Beautiful accommodation and very conveniently located. Need a ventilator fan for bathroom
- Jennifer (10/5): - We love the Granville Inn! It's beautiful, cozy and convenient.
- Joel (10/5): - Beautifully maintained historic hotel.
