I loved the outdoor area and surrounding grounds are fab! You can go down to a beach area or go a woodland walk. The only thing I feel could improve it further would be to have a little bit bigger option for breakfast. Oh and more haggis in the Balmoral chicken so that I could actually taste it but other than the food tasted amazing!

- tracy (4/5): - The hotel is very run down. We had broken blinds in our room, no overhead light in the bathroom, heavily stained cushions on the bed,I could go on. Breakfast is very limited with just two choices and the ingredients are of poor quality. The only positive was that the bed was clean and comfy. The website doesn’t reflect the actual state of the rooms, and it’s extremely overpriced and wouldn’t recommend.
- Rachel (10/5): - We loved our stay at Loch Leven!! Impressed from the time we drove up and saw how lovely it was! Free car park, great dinner food selections, the bar opens at 3pm which was lovely. The staff are friendly and kind. We were a little overloaded on several Scottish breakfasts in a row and they were more than accommodating to figure out an alternative. It's a lovely spot especially if you need a quiet break from the hustle of tourist season!

- GARY (8/5): Loch Leven Heaven - With the unfortunate heat wave our room was very warm with no fan. Being upstairs made it even warmer. Our bathroom was receiving an odar from the kitchen in the morning and evening which was usually garlic which was not overwhelming but not always pleasant. Our view was of the rear of the hotel which was the opposite side of the hotel that had the view of the river. Not the best view. Views from the dining area and patio were beautiful! Food was very good. Breakfasts were good as well. Bar was good. I felt they were understaffed the day of our arrival as the service for dinner was very slow and we were not the only party that wanted our food quicker and waited and waited to receive our bill.

Floors are uneven and squeaky. Tap on the sink was not bolted down and moved whenever you switched on the water. Shower was very tiny. We were given a room upstairs and there’s no lift so you have to carry all your bags up. We wouldn’t stay there again or recommend.

- Michal (4/5): Not worth the price - Beautiful location and friendly staff, however, this is a very dated hotel and is not worth the roughly 340 GBP per night that we paid. We stayed in what is supposed to be one of their nicer rooms - the deluxe double. The room felt very dated, and not in a good way. No hair dryer or telephone in the room either. Small and uncomfortable shower. Toilet squished against a wall. Bed was comfortable at least. We had dessert in the restaurant in the evening which was very good, but breakfast was poor. The scrambled eggs were tasteless. While not a terrible hotel, a very poor value for the price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Shabby and disappointing - Conditions of the building and the room were shabby and in need of much needed updating. The shower was not much bigger than one you would find in an RV. The views from the restaurant are beautiful, but not spectacular enough to make up for the exorbitant price per night. This is the one accommodation I regret booking out of the five I made for our nine-day tour of Scotland.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - My mom and I vacationed for 2 weeks in Scotland. We stayed at 8 different small hotels, inns and airbnbs all in the same price range as Loch Levan Hotel. They were all simple, clean and comfortable with kind and accommodating hosts. The Loch Levan hotel was our last stay in Scotland and the worst accommodations I have had anywhere in the world in the past 20 years. Upon arrival we noticed that the room was very hot and very dirty but after a full day of travel from the Isle of Skye, we decided to just ignore it, go to bed and address it with management in the morning. That was a mistake….The beds were so uncomfortable that you could feel the springs in them. The bathroom was filthy, hair in the drain and covered in mold. The room smelled of room perfume, likely to cover up the smell of mold, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, and there were cobwebs in the room as well. It literally felt like we were staying in an animal stable or a bad hostel. The next morning I asked if we could move rooms into something cleaner and a newer bed for our 2nd night. We were told that there was no other rooms. We could not stay another night in the room. We asked for our money back for the second night since we were going to have to check out and find new accommodations. I was told to email management for a refund request. I sent multiple emails with NO REPLY. I contacted hotels.com to file a grievance and they too were unable to get ahold of anyone. Find another place to stay. ANYWHERE would be better.

- Trace (10/5): - Our room was comfortable and quiet…except the squeaky floor, but c’mon, the place was built in 1700. The staff was fantastic. Stefan was the check in guy, and the bartender. He was super friendly and helpful, and had a great sense of humor! The food was delicious. We had the lamb shank and burger one night, along with breakfast the next morning. We had the fish and chips, and the burger the 2nd night, all of which were fantastic! The bar…the bar is the reason we booked, and it didn’t disappoint! We drank and chatted with the other customers both evenings and tried different whiskeys. We had great conversations with people from the US, England, Germany, and of course, the bartender, Stephan from Italy!

It was broken and on a slant that stopped any real attempt at sleep. The room was tatty and tired and the sink didn't drain properly. For teh ammount charged one would expect at least a working bed

Dinner was probably best of the trip, though you need reservations as they only seem to seat a few at a time. Bar was also nice. Had good weather so the deck was nice too. Included breakfast, but that didn't start until 8 which was too late for our schedule. You can walk down to the old ferry landing and also a trail along the water.

- Waed (2/5): - The shower did not work. There was very minimal water pressure and the temperature could not be controlled. I contacted the man on staff that day who I think was the manager but was lying saying he wasn’t and he came to the room and could not fix it. He couldn’t get anyone out to fix it and did not offer us a stay in a different room or anything. They gave us 40 pounds off of our dinner but that’s just not good enough for not having a shower to use during our stay. When I approached the man about it he was very rude to my wife and I and just rushed us away. I have tried many times to contact mamagement through email and phone calls and have not heard anything back even though they said someone will get in touch with me. This is Terrible business practice and the facility should probably be shut down until they can provide basic stay needs.

The carpet in our room was coming up, our bed was slanted and uncomfortable and our toilet ran an exceptionally long time after flushing. We would gladly recommend the bar and restaurant to anyone, but the rooms could use an upgrade for the price paid

- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend. Beautiful location. - Gorgeous setting for a hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The manager was very helpful and inviting. He recommended a lovely walk along the loch after dinner which was a great setting for sunset photographs. The bar is well stocked and they offered their own gin which was quite good.

- Sona (4/5): - This staff have an attitude problem also via Expedia it was agreed that I could pay at the hotel despite the hotel took for money by my credit card. I complained to Expedia and they told me to speak to Hotel and Hotel said the policy was to take the money upfront so the two don’t tie up! When I when I was served porridge I realised they didn’t have a spoon so I asked to wait and he told me to go and get it from the counter not what I expect when I’m paying 5 star prices. The taps loose and in the evening for Charles hot water was lukewarm at best

- Jeremy (10/5): - This lodging was absolutely perfect for our visit to the Highlands and Glencoe area. Close proximity to a ton of outdoor attractions. The views from the lodge grounds are breathtaking to say the least. They offer their own gin and rum varieties and served breakfast and dinner. Every sip and bite was first rate. Paul and staff made every effort to ensure that our stay was a visit that we will never forget. The staff, offerings, and location make this a 10/10!!!

Through the bathroom we could hear our room neighbors like they were in the same room and I’m guessing they did too. We did enjoy our stay. Way too expensive for the experience.

- John (6/5): - Very dated hotel and not in a good way. Creaky floors, layers of pain. Looked tired and worn. A massive pothole in the driveway leading in was invisible at night and nearly broke my car. Staff were friendly and food was good so a mixed bag.

Our room was in the main building, with a four-posted bed and antique furnishings and lighting fixtures. The staff was friendly and professional (Paul and Karen especially); dinner and bar service were great, as was breakfast the next morning. We had a lovely stay!

- Joanie (4/5): - While some of the reviews we read rated this place charming, I would tell you to run the other way. You can surely do better even if you have to drive further. If I am able to post photos I will do so. You will see the mold and dry rot in the molding at the base of the shower. The shower enclosure itself seemed clean but the floor was horrid. The fuzz all over the exhaust fan that has not been cleaned in who knows how long. The dirty carpet. The pull cord to turn on the lights in the bathroom. The sink with separate hot and cold taps and the drain that must be exactly balanced or the sink won’t drain. No tissues in the room. No shampoo. No conditioner. There was a barely enough amount of body wash. One hand towel and one small body towel each. No hair dryer. If you want one you must go to reception to borrow one. No elevator, so fair warning, you will be dragging your suitcase up a curved staircase with narrow stairs. The staff was cordial and efficient. We slept fairly well, so the two twin beds were comfortable . Breakfast offered a full Scottish, cereals, yogurt, toast, coffee or tea. We ate dinner there and the mussels were very good, served with one dry piece of bread. The second night my husband asked for an additional piece of bread. He was served 4 slices, for which we were charged £4! So be careful in how you order. I would not stay here again even if it was free and could not wait to leave.

I highly recommend this establishment for one or several nights stay. Room accommodations were clean and comfortable. There was a lovely welcome gift in the room as well as tea and coffee and cookies. Breakfast was both buffet and cooked to order every morning. The lounge areas were cozy and comfortable. Rooms had lovely views of the Loch as did the Dining room. Bar area was welcoming and well stocked. I don’t have enough words to express how much we enjoyed our stay at Loch Leven Hotel. Thank you !!

- Katherine E (10/5): - What a place! Loved it. We had a ground floor room with a private deck. Gorgeous view of the mountains and Loch. Gardens beautiful. Amazing restaurant and pub. We had fabulous food. Loved how we didn’t have to drive out to eat. Breakfast was also good, although we are not fans of the full Scottish breakfast so we ordered eggs and toast which was no problem. We hiked lost valley, neptunes staircase, and walked around Ballachulish. This area is an incredibly beautiful area of Scotland. If you are looking to stay in the Glen Coe area I highly recommend this hotel. Even though the address is Fort William it’s much closer to Glencoe and all the hiking.
- Jane (4/5): Terrible - Very overpriced. Very disappointed. Shabby and run down. Stained very worn carpets, patched up and peeling wall paper. What looked like a good sized bed was 2 singles put together. Old mattress and lumpy old pillows. Basic bathroom. Outdoor area not kept well and overgrown. Absolutely no views at all. The one good bit was a well cooked evening meal and female server. Breakfast poor very limited choice. Think the owners had checked out!

- gilles (4/5): Tiny dirty rooms - For 2 people we got the room 15 which is so tiny that the couldn’t barely put our 2 suitcases on the floor and there was no place to put the towels at all. This hotel is flare and need rejuvanating!
- Norbert (6/5): - This is a very tired hotel at a very nice location. How they got 3 1/2 stars is a complete mystery to me (linoleum floor in the bathroom rolling up, mattresses which should have been replaced a long time ago, all furniture and carpets dingy and worn out). I still cannot believe we paid what we paid for that room. To end with some positive comments, their little bar area has a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly.
- Neil (8/5): - Very, nice quaint hotel, wonderful restaurant and service. A real experience of Scottish hospitality with spectacular views. only downside no elevator to help get bags up the stairs but not a real issue.

- Peter Speciale (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were very nice, dinner at the restaurant was excellent and we really enjoyed a few beverages at the bar. The grounds were pretty being right on the river. Our room was spacious and pretty comfortable, though at the price point for the room, felt that the amenities could use some love and attention. Even just better pillows and small refurbishments upgrades would make a big difference. We’d definitely consider staying again, but would compare against what else is available in the area.
