- S4216MXsylvial (2/5): Do not recommend this hotel in beautiful St Joes - We arrived at Silver Beach Hotel at 100 Main Street Saint Joseph Michigan on Jan 19 and left on Jan 21, 2026. The front and back entrances were not shoveled of snow or salted for safety (steps are at back door parking lot) when we arrived or left. Very cold snowy days and we could not enter/leave doors. Frank (manager on duty) did not ask staff to shovel - there was a staff person at desk with him. They simply replied the person who shovels did not come to work -- explains just how bad the snow was piled up. Instead, they pointed to the shovel at the door for us to use -- we are a 74 nd 75 year-old couple! We shoveled because we had purchased on Expedia and would be charged for the 2-day stay. Then, the 3 7th floor rooms we had to move among came next -- the toilets did not flush in 2 of the 3 rooms. The tile floors throughout the 3 rooms were filthy. Shoes stuck to the floors and wiping up a water stain on the floor turned the white towel to a completely brown dirt rag. We gave the dirty towel to Frank. Not a friendly staff or clean place to stay. Though the inside lobby is inviting with the recent hotel renovation, we do not recommend this hotel in beautiful St Joes - a city we have visited many times since the early 1990's!

Rooms were semi-clean, lots of sand in corners and under beds. The breakfast area was absolutely dirty and disgusting. Surfaces at the breakfast area were sticky and food was gross. Baseboards and walls/ceilings were visibly dirty in our room. Loud and hallways stink.

View was pretty nice.. was only on the 2nd floor.. Breakfast smelled amazing but we didnt eat there.. we already had a breakfast date set up with friends. Think we've found our little wkend get away spot. Its only a 4hr drive from us.. we only stayed over night this time.. next time will be longer..

- Haskins (1/5): Horrible staff - The beach The staff can't understand what you're saying, the hallways smell really bad, its cramped there, it takes 15 mins to get hot water on the floor shower, my car was broken into in the night and the female Zuma couldn't produce surveillance, and then I didn't stay but 3 days of my 7 day reservation and they checked me out of my room early like I asked but would not refund my money for the whole week!!! They have the trash can right nxt to food, so fruit flies and nuts are all over the machines and food, and silverware, and cups, its a really nasty place and nobody understands us there..

(She was fantastic even dealing with a very long line for chrck in) the rooms were clean enough, they were having issues with the elevators and informed people they could use the stairs.... its a 7 story hotel. It was cost effective.

Some things were fancy and new, some things were well worn, needing paint or just replaced. Our room carpet definitely needed a good deep cleaning. Breakfast was very minimal only cereal and toast options. Dining room needs updating. Housekeeping only did a towel change on our room no bed making or cleaning, not sure if I had read what their daily upkeep routine was so not sure if this was normal.

- Rona (2/5): - The internet description was very deceiving. We spend a lot of time looking before deciding on this one. Pictures made It sound and look good. Said there was an indoor pool. Well, there was a hole where the pool was supposed to be. Room was not clean. You walked across the floor barefoot, and your feet got black. Mirror on bathroom door was cracked all the way across it. The mirror above the sink had a crack starting at the bottom. I took pictures down to the desk to show them so we didn't get charged for it and they just said, "oh Ok". The bottom of the bathroom door inside the bathroom was all broke and falling apart. The one bed the mattress was completely broken down especially in the middle. It was very soft and you couldn't help but roll to the middle all night. It completely sank in the middle. So needless to say we did not get a good night's sleep. The other bed was not as bad but was really soft. The breakfast room was dirty. The windows in there were filthy. There were 4 soda machines with nothing in them taking up space and they were filthy. Outside window were filthy. If we could have found another place to stay we would have moved. Would not recommend it. Definitely not worth $200 a night!

- jessica (6/5): - room was mostly clean. the floors could’ve been cleaner. hotel room was visibly old. hallways stunk bad. walls very thin.
- Joaquin (10/5): - Really nice location, walkable area to restaurants and lake love it
- Joe (8/5): - Location location location! A little pricey but what isn’t these days.
- Joyce (8/5): - This is a older hotel and it appears refreshing is in progress. It would have been more comfortable if there was a chair other than the desk chair. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
