- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely place, convenient to Carmel Valley wineries, shops, and 20 minutes from Refuge. - Our room was very comfortable, liked the patio chairs and table out back for breakfast. Our friends had the host house up the way and that was super fun. Wish there was a hot tub.
- Teodos (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): - Very nice!

- Alaia (10/5): Lovely bed-and-breakfast experience in the heart of Carmel Valley - Quaint but well-kept and clean, this is a great stay and good value, especially for the area. All of the staff were really pleasant and professional. They have free coffee and high-quality treats from the local bakery every morning. I really have no complaints and would stay here again! Nothing to dislike honestly.
- T5386PRjeremyj (10/5): Worth it - Very clean and nice place. Customer service is top notch and that’s hard to say nowadays. I highly recommend it.
- Hypersyko (10/5): Amazing Stay - Amazing location. Awesome hospitality. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.

- Timo (10/5): -
- Lacey (10/5): For a reasonable stay in this area I’d highly recommend to anyone! - Tucked away from it all and really lovey and quiet location.
- Megan (8/5): Great location that’s close to tasting rooms. - Large room with a lovely outdoor area. 10 min walk to town. Bathroom needs updating.
- Jaimee (10/5): -
- Nathalie (10/5): Comfortable, clean, and nice! - The location was great, it was nearby a lot of good restaurants. The property was peaceful and quiet. The room was spacious including the bathroom. Everything was well decorated and most importantly everything was clean. The morning pastries were a nice touch :) On our second night there was an odd clicking noise that would go on and off periodically. Not sure where it was coming from. I was wide awake for some reason but if I was asleep I doubt it would actually wake me up.
- SUSAN (10/5): A clean, comfortable, and relaxing stay. - Not only was the room very clean it was spacious. The weather did not exactly cooperate so I did not get to enjoy the patio outside the room with the garden view.
I will definitely look to stay here in my next visit to Carmel Valley.
- V3098WKdavidp (10/5): Nice Inn! - Excellent experience. Very nice room, reasonable price. The room was conveniently located, clean and very pleasant. We needed something convenient, and the location in Carmel Valley was ideal. Staff were helpful but not intrusive. Room location overlooking garden and pool area was quiet and attractive.
- Margaret (7/5): Although this is a nice Inn, we did not feel welcome. There are also some improvements that could be fairly easily made - It was walking distance to the winery where we were celebrating our friend’s birthday. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was spacious (there is plenty of space for a small refrigerator and a microwave, which would be very convenient additions). The desk staff (a young woman) was not friendly. She did not greet us in a friendly way. When I took the key back to check out the next day, she did not utter a word, no “thank you” or “hope you had a good stay.” She was mostly concerned about the cats who apparently live outside the Office, and how our dog might scare them (this is at a facility that is “dog friendly”.)
Also…no full length mirror in the room!

- X1943CSrobt (8/5): Clean, Comfortable and Quiet. - Comfortable and clean bed, bath and room. Bathroom is small. This Inn is a no frills place. It did have a refrigerator, and we wish it was listed before our trip. Nice view from the patio. Our friends in the room next to us had trouble with the heat mode in n the mini split unit. Both units seemed to be dated, but ours was fine. For 2 nights in the Carmel/Big Sur area, it was lovely. Plenty of eating options available within 20 minutes by car.
- Leticia (9/5): - Está ubicada en un entorno hermoso Demasiado cerca una cabaña de otra. Poca intimidad
- Sherry (10/5): Wonderful Gem!! - The layout of the Inn was wonderful!! Everything was SO CLEAN!!! We will definitely put this place on our "stay again" list. We really enjoyed the patio right off our room to sit outside and enjoy our wine in the evening and our coffee in the morning. Great place to stay!!
- globalcitizen342 (10/5): Hidden Valley...more like Hidden Gem! - GREAT place to stay! Especially for the price point. It's a hidden gem. The complimentary pastries were fabulous and great touch. Great central location with wine tastings 5-10 min walk. No problem getting night time Ubers/Lyft to Carmel and back. Welcoming and friendly staff!
- alberto Antonio (8/5): -
- Joseph (10/5): Very peaceful - Quiet and beautiful
- K1737FOwilliams (10/5): Hidden - but Superb Experience! Well worth the "search." - Superb experience! It truly is Hidden! Once you finish the short downhill drive it is almost like entering Shangri-La! Beautiful surroundings and very nice accommodations. The landscaping has recently been upgraded and everything is beautiful and well-cared for. Staff are very pleasant and very helpful. It is definitely on my list to stay on all future trips to the Big Sur area.

- Likes_to_Travel123 (10/5): Charming hotel in great location - Hidden Valley Inn is a charming little hotel in great location! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Carmel Valley. We were attending a workshop at the Hidden Valley Music Seminar next door to the hotel. It was a 2 minute walk from our room to the meeting venue.
The hotel staff were polite and professional. The facilities/grounds were beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. The pastries in the morning were delicious! (They were fresh from a local bakery, not pre-packaged from a grocery store.) We stayed in a Garden View King room. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable, though our particular room did not have any sort of desk or a dresser. We had a 5 night stay, so it would have been nice to put away all of our clothes neatly folded. We did use drawers in the 2 nightstands for some clothing and there were several hangers in the closet for others. (This was a minor inconvenience, but not a deal breaker.)
The hotel is a short walk (1/2 mile, 15 minute walk) to Carmel Valley Village where there are several cafes/restaurants, markets/small grocery stores, and lots of wine tasting rooms. It is about 3 miles (7 minute drive) to Garland Ranch Regional Park which has several miles of really nice walking & hiking trails.
- George (10/5): New favorite spot - Everything was great. Nothing, whole thing was a great experience
- Ian (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - One of the best motels I’ve stayed in,top notch accommodation Nothing
- Kevin (3/5): Interesting. Would not visit again. - We traveled there in daylight and found the hotel well. It is located quietly and beautifully. The patio chair broke the moment my sister sat on it. Fortunately, she did not get injured. The staff was not helpful. We looked for a replacement chair and just found more - broke. We informed the staff, who did not care. the bathrooms are 50's vintage perhaps? and need serious remodeling. The shower curtain rod tumbled down on us. By then, we'd had enough and left.
- Ronald (10/5): - I arrived late and left early. I wish I could have spent time out by the pool. It looked really nice. Enjoyed my room and it was super quite.

- randolf (10/5): Californien Trip - Absolute Ruhe, tolle Lage Nichts
- Jackie (10/5): - Secluded, clean and very well maintained,
Perfect, would recommend
- thomasiX1370ET (10/5): Great stay! - Excellent, updated room in a stunning setting. Good coffee and superb pastries freshly prepared by a local bakery as soon as the office opened each morning. Abundant birdlife visible and audible from the chairs and table just outside our room. This facility is down, off the valley road for privacy and quiet.
- Tomas (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Would definitely recommend - Beautiful location, nice local village with good facilities Shower controls a bit tricky but fine once you have sorted them out

- Liz (10/5): - Staff were lovely. Beautiful location and room. Bed was really comfortable. Pastries and coffee at the office was a really nice touch. Thank you Nothing
- 668cwf (8/5): Mid week holiday - We arrived after 8pm from a 10hr travel day and had a key with a map available in the nearby mailbox since the office was closed. That was one less thing to worry about. For the 4 mid week stay, we had the whole hotel to ourselves and used the pool a couple of times, a very nice pool. The king room was perfect for our needs and the bathroom shower was a ADA type with plenty of hot water. A mini fridge would have been nice to have but we travel with a powered ice chest that served that purpose.
The furnishings were clean and in good condition. There was a definite lack of furniture such as, a 2nd room chair so one of us didn't have to sit on the bed and another smaller table would be nice. Having a linion change is a call to the desk for a schedule with the cleaning staff. The morning coffee and pastries we delicious with lots of selection. The office staff even warmed our selections when we asked. I know we may have had a different quality of stay since it was mid week than folks staying over the weekend. For That we feel fortunate and may stay here again in the future. The quiet environment away from the road was a big positive factor in our hotel selection. The village is very close by and offers plenty of food choices.
The hidden valley Inn is a hidden treasure.

- harold (9/5): - The hotel is in a lovely location. It was decorated to a very good standard. The bed was comfortable and the shower really good. We stayed at quite a few hotels in California and although this was decorated to a good standard it lacked accessories. Only one chair when there was 2 of us. Really small table if you wanted to eat in, which wasn't practical. No microwave, no fridge, no kettle. Breakfast was only a pastry which was really surprising given that much cheaper hotels provided good quality breakfasts. Given that the hotel was comparatively expensive, it didn't meet our expectations in terms of value for money. We would stay again, but not at the price we paid.
- Calewaert (10/5): Beautiful get-away close to Carmel-by-the-Sea! - Perfect location close to Carmel-by-the-Sea!
Beautiful room, nice swimming pool with gorgeous mountain view around the domain!
Everything was very clean and staff was friendly. Perfect!
- ChloeFromCalifornia (8/5): Enjoyable stay - we will be back! - We stayed here two nights and enjoyed it so much, we extended our stay one more night!
The pool area is serene and well-kept. We enjoyed coming back here after a morning hike. It was also nice to be able to walk or drive less than 5 minutes to dinner. In the morning, you can grab a complimentary pastry and they have a little beverage station for coffee and tea in reception. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we found everyone at the front desk to be friendly and helpful.
- Mariia (10/5): - Everything is just amazing about the place.
Location super nice, near some local community center, rooms are new, clean and good equipped
- Paul (10/5): -
- rob (10/5): Geweldige plek - De locatie -
- David (9/5): Very nice facility with nicely landscaped pool and grounds area - Central location in Carmel Valley village . Nice salt water pool and grounds with all room patios facing this area. Beautiful view of the adjacent mountain range. Quiet location with well appointed comfortable rooms. No breakfast but a nice assortment of pastries and coffee and teas available in the office for take back to your room.
- Ashley (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marilyn (8/5): Quiet but basic accommodation - The property is quiet and off the main road. It is super close to the town, but walking there is a bit unsafe because there isn’t a path along the main road. The patio and swimming pool area is picturesque and serene. The rooms are a bit noisy, bad insulation between units. Very basic rooms. Breakfast was disappointing, pastries were heavily sugar/syrup laden.
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Terri (8/5): - Beautiful area in Carmel Valley. Welcoming. Private parking. Beautiful views. State of the Art kitchen but the faucet was too sensitive. Difficult to keep it on since it had movement sensors. Nonetheless made a delicious dinner seated with view of towering trees. Would definitely go again!
- Brian (10/5): - The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was also clean and at a nice temperature. There were yard games as well. The hotel is a short distance from restaurants and wine tasting rooms. The check-in person was very friendly and helpful with information about the area. We would return here again to explore Carmel and Big Sur.
- Payton (9/5): Superb -
- Leana (8/5): Very good -
- osteopath69 (2/5): Disaster. Avoid at all costs. - I had high hopes that I would get decent sleep when I booked. The previous night at the Carmel Valley Lodge up the road I heard traffic noise all night.
Victoria at reception was very accomodating in checking me in and showing me the room, number 29, which though spartan was fine.
Around 8 pm I heard a constant dull noise like a machine, maybe an air conditioning unit but I never discoverd the source. It made rest impossible but finally a few hours later it ceased. However, then I heard a woman talking and this went on until around 2:30 am. Since it was in the middle of the night there was no one to call for help.
At 3:30 am I went online and found a bed and breakfast which allowed me to sleep well.
At 7:30 am, anxious to leave, I brought my key to the office. No one except cleaning was there and I explained everything. They took my key. Later, I repeatedly called and was told that Victoria was at another location and that an email had been sent to her.
I spoke with a woman by phone who said, We have your number on file to contact you. She told me the number and I corrected her: That is the wrong number and email.
She sent the email to the wrong place and I subsequently spoke with my husband who told me he had received this strange email.
The upshot was that not only did they charge me for the horrible night but also the day that I returned the key at 7:30 am. I was told that the balance would be refunded.
I will never do business with this place and urge anyone else to avoid them, too.
I am initiating procedings with the credit card company to get back the money they took from me.
- Ying (8/5): Very good -
- L9959ANlaurab (6/5): Fine hotel for a group (wedding, etc.) Basic. - Good: friendly, nice vibe; great pastries for breakfast; decent pool and patio.
Could be better: why no water bottles in room, especially since the office is closed all night? No exhaust fan in bathroom
Not good: floors in room and bathroom were honestly filthy; it's clear they do not mop
- Lynne (9/5): Quiet location with great bedding. - Nice quiet location. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and pillows. Fun games around the back yard. Too cold for the pool but it looked clean and inviting. Staff was great. Continental breakfast was delicious and they had decaf coffee!
- Maria (10/5): Highly recommend - Everything was great! Terrible continental breakfast. Stale pastries and coffee was not good.
- Bingyang (2/5): - There are bugs in the bath tub and dirts on my floor!!!
Terrible service with the staff member as well!
- Roberto (8/5): - The resort and room looked better in person than it did in any of the pictures online. The only reason I didn't not give this review 5 stars is because the front desk girl could not tell us much about places to eat, see, or even where to park in Carmel. She told us she was born and raised in Carmel Valley and didn't know much about anything outside of that...we were a little disappointed!
- Carol (10/5): Wonderful place to stay, peaceful, excellent facilities it was a wonderful find on our road trip. - Really good pastries
- Peter (10/5): - We’ve stayed here often over the past few years, primarily due to its location directly adjacent to the extraordinary Hidden Valley Music Seminars.
The Hidden Valley Inn has undergone substantial renovations of late and the property keeps getting better and better with each stay. Highly recommended!
- nahieda (6/5): Find a place where you have more choice for breakfast - The best part of our stay was the location of the hotel. The room was decent. However, it kind of smelled. The outlets were hidden behind the bed so I couldn’t charge my phone. The mattress was not comfortable. It sagged. The most sad thing was that we paid $300 for one long room and they didn’t even give us a choice to pick the pastry for breakfast. They didn’t offer any fruits bread or anything else. Just coffee, water and ice tea. They limited the pastry to one per person and you can’t pick one yourself they give it to you. Considering the price of the room you can’t have more than one pastry.
- Naz (8/5): Very good -
- Lindsay (9/5): Superb - The views! It’s a beautiful location with stunning views around the whole area. The coffee and pastries were also very good for breakfast. Nothing
- Kenneth (7/5): Great private location in the heart of Carmel Valley. - Great private location. My room 25 was quite a walk to the pool and main building.
- Renteria (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - It would be nice to have a plant based option for the pastry service in the morning.
- Michael (10/5): - This is an older motel type property that has been re-done. They have done a wonderful job making this a quaint spot a modern hotel. Great little town and great place to stay!
- Wendy (7/5): Gorgeous location, very peaceful but let down by some things unfortunately. - Disappointed there was no breakfast, apparently there were children staying who took all the pastries! Poor planning or just a poor excuse. Pool was unusable as it hadn’t been cleaned in what appeared a long time.
- Wolfe-polgar (8/5): nice place in la fortuna - A good place to stay if you’re planning to do things in La Fortuna. The location is very convenient however, it is not as in the jungle as you might expect. It is right in town, very convenient for tours and restaurants. It is in a very touristy area. Not as much in nature as I expected and very touristy
- Cris (8/5): - We loved how quiet it was and the beautiful view of the hills. Morning pastries were good! The heated bathroom floors were so nice.
We did not enjoy that housekeeping does not come to your room unless you request it. That was odd. The way of communicating with the front staff was through text. I found that to be very impersonal. The office staff is only there until 5 pm.
- sydneysS4602VQ (8/5): good - Very nice clean room. View was nice. Quite. Liked it. I find it impossible to come up with 200 characters. You must not get too many reviews with that requirement. I only have 40 more characters to go. My recomendation is to lessen the amount of charactoers.
Thanks
- burda59 (10/5): Quick trip - Clean, Friendly, Functional —- location and price are spot on —- easy in easy out
Great little village area with great restruants and wine selection —— easy drive back into Carmel, nice warm weather outside the fog belt —— parking is simple and the price is reasonable
All good
- Bethany (10/5): - This was such a great pick!!!
The area is so cute and the room was very spacious. Love the vibe. The bathroom floor was HEATED .. amazing.
- Mark (9/5): Great location , close to monterey - Lovely room with patio. Which got the sun
in the evening Ice machine only occasionally worked
- Jennifer (10/5): - Very kind staff, and very nicely kept facilities. The room smelled amazing when we walked in! I would recommend and also would stay again.
- Ilitsa (8/5): A nice place in the valley - It was very short our stay but nice and easy
- Mixell (10/5): Exceptional - I was very surprised at how nice the place was. We had a discounted rate, but it felt like it was real luxury.
Great place!
- Garcia (10/5): Exceptional - The Inn was lovely!
- Gabriel (9/5): Superb - bathroom
- leiti (8/5): Quiet beautiful setting - Small quiet place surrounded by beauty. Room was clean and comfortable. Could have used a mirror to get dressed though. Pool looked nice but too cold to go in. Short walk to many great little restaurants. Nice pastries for morning breakfast. Great place to relax for a weekend
- Mia (9/5): Superb - I liked how quiet it was and relaxing. I wished the pool was heated.
