Guest Reviews
- Joanna (8/5): Very pleasant stay in quiet village with friendly staff and decent food. - Good breakfast choices and kind staff. Heating less high; I turned down rafiator
- David (8/5): Overall it is a fine place to stay and good VFM. The area is lovely and quiet - Location location location - superb breakfast - friendly staff - quirky old historic building - nice beers A longer bar area...
- Mark (7/5): Romance blossomed despite the basic facilities - It was a good location for the things I’d planned to see over the weekend - Halls and Arboretum The double room was a bit too basic - clean and tidy but lacked any touches
- lisa (8/5): - Friendly staff No hot water first morning
- Denise (10/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Proper old style pub with no pretensions, friendly staff, decent food and drink, would recommend - Clean room and bathroom, easy access from annex back into main pub, no issues with parking, ordering bar food no problem and plenty of options for seating, I sat in side 'snug' bar which was a little quieter for Friday & Saturday nights, a range of clientele but all good natured and nothing rowdy; ample breakfast on both days meant didn't have to buy overpriced food at Snetterton circuit... Nothing really obvious, a bit further from circuit (off the main A11) than I would normally choose as was 'working', but the drive through Thetford Forest made up for that...
- Carla (7/5): Value for money. Good food in the pub. - Location was excellent for my trip
Breakfast was great.Fresh cooked breakfast.
Room quite small but did the job. T.v kept loosing signal.
Extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work.
- Adrian (4/5): -
- Dianne (9/5): - A lovely old pub. The little room in the attic was cute and comfortable.

- David (10/5): Perfect - just what we needed - From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional.
We received such a warm welcome, and our cottage was beautifully presented, stylishly furnished and far beyond what you’d expect from a typical hotel suite. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, with linen and towels that felt pristine.
The pub is a delight: cosy, inviting, and full of warmth.
Dinner was superb, with both starters and mains cooked perfectly. Regrettably, we couldn’t manage dessert.
The staff deserve particular praise — attentive, knowledgeable, and consistently friendly throughout our stay.
Thank you to the entire Crown Hotel team. We look forward to returning. Having to leave - Wish our stay was longer.

- Ewen (6/5): nice stay , lovely village - nice old character full hotel, friendly, clean, good breakfast
, nice dinner single room small but nice, top of hotel, poor water preasure
- John (9/5): - Very friendly
- Simon (8/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Super comfortable. Well fed and rested, couldn’t ask for more from an established and lively village pub-hotel - Ancient and great pub, very much alive and the heartbeat of the village. Multiple dining spaces, Bar, restaurant, private dining, food was great, not gastro-pretentious, just classics done well. Staff were also great, especially the hotel and breakfast hosting team. Single rooms a bit bare, Worn - but that part of its charm. Showers could be a bit cleaner.
- Oliver (10/5): -
- Aleksandrs (7/5): - Food was really bad.
- Lynn (9/5): Loved it, the only issue was lack of parking space. - Food was good. Location ideal for walking. Comfortable bed.
Lovely traditional bar and welcoming log fire, plus a good choice of beers. The 17th century building has lots of character. Bathroom decor starting to look a little tired. Parking space is limited and we sometimes had to park along the road from the hotel.
- Leroy (8/5): Worth visiting - The building is amazing, the staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful. The food was great.
Parking was good. The window in our room didn't close completely, letting in a cold draft. The toilet door would not shut completely so couldn't be locked.
- Michelle (10/5): We stay at The Crown at least once a year, sometimes more. This time, we were upgraded to a room with a garden and, hav - Everything. Nothing
- Kayleigh (10/5): -
- Joe (8/5): -
- David (9/5): Lovely country Inn. - Location for what we wanted to do.
Staff very friendly and great service. Lovely cosy bar. Rooms were a bit cold in the evenings. Radiators only seemed to come on in a morning.
- Jimmy (10/5): -
- GARY (9/5): - Breakfast could have been warmer
- SMITH (8/5): Very nice - Really nice breakfast Everything was nice as expected
- Mike (9/5): Great room and meal friendly atmosphere - Excellent facilities, ideal for my stay.
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - First class breakfast
- Christian (5/5): Nice stay but ruined by inconsiderate staff members. - Food was good, staff friendly as you'd expect.
Nice ambience in a lovely old pub. I did not enjoy getting woken up at 05:00 by the chef and staff chatting loudly outside my bedroom window!
- Kevin (10/5): Very good hotel to stay at - It was in a small village and very quiet.
The breakfast was very good.
All staff friendly and helpfull. There was not any negative things to say.
- Beverley (10/5): Would definitely stay here again - Very clean room with super comfortable bed. Great bar and friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast.
- Jake (10/5): -
- Kay (5/5): Just ok but wouldn’t stay again. - Old fashioned pub Lots of dust on the bathroom radiator and extractor fan, also glasses and cups dusty as were the tops of the curtains. Black mould around the shower tray. Lack of attention to detail. One hand towel rather worn around the edges.
Some of the Cooked breakfast was cold.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Highly recommended - Very clean, fantastic building, good was great. Parking is a bit limited
- Eric (4/5): Very disappointing. - The Crown is in a good location and was convenient for our visit to Grimes Graves This could be a really good hotel but it needs some serious upgrading. The decor is 1980s. It is shabby. Our room was small (too small) and had poor furnishings. The bathroom was a disaster. The shower had black mould. The plastic shower curtain is well overdue for replacement and half of the floor tiles were cracked. Service in the restaurant was poor. It took exactly one hour for our main course to be delivered. The food was bland and unexciting.. The decor in the restaurant is so dated. Where else would you find an old floral fitted carpet on the floor of the restaurant! When we checked in we were immediately handed a credit card machine (before being shown the room) and told he had to pay then. I don’t object to paying in advance but the way it was done made me feel like a criminal.

- Shaun (10/5): -
- Alan (8/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Overall it met our expectations and was comfortable and inclusion of breakfast was great. - Breakfast was fast, breakfast staff lovely, room nice, Bedroom carpet dirty stains, although breakfast was fast obviously not as fresh as it could be due to this. Coffee could be nicer. Check in process was a little confusing and slow.
- Karen (8/5): Great customer service and good basic facilities. - Lovely food in restaurant and friendly staff Bathroom was extremely small and nowhere to put any toiletries. Floor was cold as it was stone tiles
- Christine (10/5): - Accommodation in a friendly pub. Nothing to report here.
- Tatiana (7/5): -
- loveday (8/5): Dog friendly and comfortable, meals could improve but would stay there again. - Lovely room, location good for dog walking, relaxed friendly place. Lovely waitress every morning. Meals were average, first breakfast was not very hot, every breakfast the bacon was over cooked and too crispy to eat. Evening meals were better, although the xmas roast potato's were not very well cooked.
- Jacqui (10/5): Excellent value for money - Room 18 really comfy bed and excellent breakfast. We were also in room C and the sloped ceiling made it hard to get in and out of bed without hitting your head.
- Frank (8/5): -
- Porter (8/5): Great place to stay - Ideal location, great breakfast Everything was good
- Simon (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Cosy pub, nice food and comfortable stay - Staff very welcoming, nice room - clean and functional and excellent breakfast. Nothing - all good
- Mike (10/5): Cosy pub with excellent facilities. - Just perfect for my stay with my dog . Great facilities in the room fridge and microwave. Large comfortable bed with access to courtyard. Food was wholesome and good value. Nice pint of London Pride too. Would definitely stay here again. I didn’t dislike any thing.
- Gail (7/5): Pleasant and welcoming staff and comfortable rooms. A good location - The room was very spacious and comfortable. A good Dinner menu choice. The full English breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day ahead. Unfortunately there was a regular 'guest' in the bar with a 'potty mouth' that made the atmosphere unpleasant. This was not addressed at the time and would put visitors off. Had we not been staying, we would not have stayed for dinner.
- Peter (5/5): Nice atmosphere in the bars, but facilities in terms of rooms are not ideal for older people like us - the meals and service at the meals were good. Our room was in a converted cottage up a side lane. It was raining so not ideal to get there. Then there were steep stairs - not easy for people in their 80's. The TV did not work.
- Brandon (8/5): -
- Werner (8/5): -
- Doreen (10/5): - Clean and comfortable, free WiFi and wonderful breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Peteris (9/5): Good place, nice staff, lovley rooms - Clean, nice room, pub on the ground floor. Limited breakfast, sometimes breakfest was deleyed

- Margaret (9/5): very good staff helpful breakfast amazing - breakfast excellent steep stairs
- Newey (10/5): -

- Claire (10/5): Perfect for our needs. - Super cosy.
We all felt very welcome.

- Julia (8/5): A great night's sleep - Comfortable,quiet,clean room.Excellent breakfast.
- Stewart (8/5): -
- Gedney Golfer (8/5): - Lovely warm, comfortable bedroom. Lovely staff. Good breakfast Our room was located in a different building to main hotel.
- Danny (9/5): Take a bow - Staff friendly and attentive. Arrived late but no issue checking in. No issues whatsoever really, everything made easy. Great food and nice atmosphere in pub. Equally in breakfast room, again staff very friendly, attentive and informative on local area and services. Difficult to find fault, good value for money Finding fault - those awful semi skimmed milk pots that destroy anything half decent to drink. Decent coffee would've been a nice addition to the Twinings tea
- Stephen (8/5): - Parking was very good outside our room front door. Cooked breakfast was hot with a choice of cereals, etc from the buffet. Lovely clean bed and hot water in shower. All the staff were polite and we would definately use
The Crown again.
- yuill (8/5): Comfortable country stay - Excellent position and staff Nothing

Couldnt ask for more, great place to stay !
- Colin (8/5): - Excellent breakfast and welcoming bar located in beautiful village
- Lupin (10/5): Great food, our dinner was superb. Breakfast was excellent and we shall definitely be booking again. - Breakfast was excellent, our room was spotless the staff were friendly and the decor was great. Great value for money too. There was nothing to dislike, it’s a very pleasant place to stay.
- Steve (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Good value for money and incredible staff - The place was immaculate and staff very helpful. Brilliant breakfast and lovely locally sourced sausages The single bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable for my son however the reception staff rectified this with no issue. Amazing customer service.
- Richard (10/5): - Lovely stay
- alison (8/5): - I have stayed in this hotel on multiple occasions now, and it remains one of my go to places for staying in this area.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Andrew Catmur (8/5): -
- PAUL (10/5): - Third time using this hotel, staff friendly and approachable.
Breakfast was delightful Shower was hot, hotter or hot,did not find a happy temp.
- Michael (10/5): Very enjoyable - Excellent food
- Paul (8/5): -
- Virginia (10/5): Wonderful - The stay was wonderful everybody was so nice and friendly especially Martin, Karen and Rosie made our stay so nice. Wonderful staff but Martin Stone was our favourite. The only problem was the mattress was very soft and you could feel the springs.
- Paul (10/5): Great overnight stay on the Rebellion Way - Great location.. great food and drinks.
Staff absolutely fantastic.. Callum particularly who could not do enough to make our stay easy.
A great stop if youre riding the Rebellion Way.
- Chapman (8/5): -
- Derek (8/5): We would come back again. - The hotel was in a nice situation ...a lovely village green with a very good shop and also a fish and chip shop, the room was nice however the bed was a little tired, there was no head board and they were mean with the pillows, I guess we could have asked for more but didn't so sitting on the bed was a little uncomfortable, parking was excellent and the actual pub was great with a pretty good atmosphere, the breakfast may have been the best we've ever had and the breakfast room was bright and delightful with friendly staff.
- Neil (8/5): - Comfortable, clean. Excellent dinner. OK breakfast.
- Linda (7/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): - This was another return visit to this wonderful warm and friendly pub/hotel.
This time i was accompanied with my daughter/we came up up to celebrate my friend's birthday and celebrate my daughters acceptance to University.
As before the rooms we had were clean and comfortable the staff were helpful/friendly and the whole evening was brilliant.
Truth be told we came up for the fantastic food served at the restaurant-we all had steak which was perfectly done and dessert-was definately worth the short ish journey up from Essex.
What better than having a nice meal then stopping over for the night and back in the morning ..this place is perfect for that.
There are plenty of rooms to cater for a large family or a solo traveller.
I said i would return last time here....and will again...Great value for money. A great short gettaway was had by us all.
A decent breakfast also considering its included in your stay.
- Martin (8/5): -
- Myah (10/5): Lovely house, lovely staff, and lovely cat! - We rented the 4 bedroom house for the night before my wedding with my bridesmaids and it was absolutely perfect!!
The room / house was absolutely lovely! the check in was very easy and the parking was really convenient! The little local cat was a really nice addition too - get him on the payroll haha!
The room / house was so much nicer than advertised, so we were really pleasantly surprised!! Would recommend this to anybody staying in the area - i might even go back just to stay at the house :)
- Martin (8/5): Friendly place, good value - Excellent dbnner, traditional pub atmosphere, reasonably priced Room was small and hot, and with the window open you could here traffic in the distance and people outside from 5.30am!!
