- E.P. (9/5): Fun, clean, wanderful - Check in and check out was a breeze. Room was cozy and comfortable. Hot tub and pool were open, the gym was wonderful to work out in but missing a carabiner for the cable machine. Breakfast area had less tables then required for the amount of people eating. I ate back in my room. Hot tub was hot but the jets were lacking. I woke up for a morning hot tub and it was cold, did tell the staff and I'm sure it was rectified but couldn't have my morning hot tub.
- ish_08 (4/5): Mislead - We were very disappointed in this hotel. Booking last minute (2 days in advance) for 2 rooms, we booked direct with the hotel in Red Deer. Rooms were nothing special but we knew this when booking, we went with this location because we had 3 children in our group and were willing to spend the extra money because of the pool and waterslide. Shortly after arrival we found out the water slide was out of service and had been that way for a week. The jets in the hot tub were also not working. We had to go and request towels for the pool as there were none available. They brought 6 towels to the pool area even though there were over 12 people in the pool area at the time. I spoke with the duty manager and told him I had wished I was told about the waterslide in advance as I would have booked at a less expensive hotel. He assured me everyone was being told in advance. I personally booked so knew this was not true, while watching the children in the pool I met several other people who also booked because of the pool and waterslide, none had been informed the waterslide was inoperable. I feel this hotel made misleading promises and overcharged for services provided. The duty manager could have really cared less that I felt cheated. Every business experiences issues, how they are handled sets them apart. We are Wyndham Rewards members and usually stay at their locations when possible, but our next trip to Red Deer we will book anywhere but Microtel.
- Amelia (6/5): - It’s clean the staff is very nice. The breakfast is decent. We stayed for 5 nights. They made the beds everyday and gave clean towels. The waterside was not working when we got here and didn’t work our entire stay. I was quite upset about this as I booked here for the waterside as we can with children for dance. ( apparently it was broken days before we arrived) we did not get any notification about this other wise I would have moved my stay to another hotel. They did give me 20% off but still I should have been notified. Also the shower sucks. It’s not tub and like glass door half way of the shower no curtain or door for other half so it’s hard to stay warm. Also the room we had I believe just standard two queens. It’s quite small. Did not really have room to keep our suitcase out or anything. If sitting at the desk ( doing hair makeup for dance ) husband needs to go over the bed to get around.

What I didn’t like was, we booked especially for the water slide and hot tub. After booking the hotel we got an email from the hotel on the 24th of April saying they were excited about us staying with them and just so we know that the pool, hot tub, waterslide and gym were open. Only to find out that on the 23rd the waterslide had broken and there was a sign on the hot tub saying sorry for the inconvenience but we cleaned the hot tub so it’s not working at full temp. ( great it was clean but sad it wasn’t as hot)

The room was not clean and there was a massive ball of hockey tape used obviously kids hockey team stick tape in the room that was missed and room smelled so bad from the pool the chlorine in the room was overwhelming.
- Evan (10/5): Give Vella an award! - The staff was extremely helpful and wonderful, especially Vella. She was like a grandma to our family and absolutely awesome during our breakfasts. She provided us with high chairs for my young son and made sure we had clean tables to eat at, along with delicious egg and cheese omelets, hot sausage, and crispy bacon!

- Shannon (5/5): It was a place to rest or head at night, and the staff were amazing, a bit pricey considering. - Booked because they had a working hot tub. They had a nice continental breakfast. And staff were very accommodating to the best the facility had. The hot tub jets were not working properly and my son cut himself when we did get an opportunity to use the hot tub, staff reported it, but it is a hazard as there are sharp edges all around and inside the hot tub. Tape on the walls in our room from previous guests.

- Nelefe Marie (7/5): - It was a busy Saturday, and several groups arrived an hour before their scheduled check-in time, which led to a wait for everyone. While an early check-in would have been appreciated, I fully understand that the establishment was busy and at full capacity. The only aspect that was disappointing was the condition of the toilet, which appeared to have been overlooked during cleaning, as there were still urine stains present, and we had to request the housekeeper to address it. Overall, my family enjoyed our stay; the beds and pillows were comfortable, the children enjoyed the pool, and the breakfast was good and good location.

- Patricia (5/5): Ok - The breakfast was great and well attended by a lovely person. The room I ended up staying in was really clean. I arrived and the room they gave me was not cleaned. They gave me a new one and that one was and it was cleaned well. Wifi was an issue especially as I needed to take work meetings while there. The directions on the room direct people to the front desk. They had no idea what I was talking about I was trying to explain but they thought that people should be directed to their IT people but none of that is provided to guests only to the front staff. It took them several minutes to figure out that they needed to make a call. After they did the issue was immediately fixed.
- Mateja (7/5): Good value - Microtel is good value for your money. We enjoyed the breakfast options. The facility is better than other 2-star hotels in Red Deer. There is no room service/ housekeeping daily. We have to ask for towels and other needs, they don't replenish them every day. My daughter saw some dead bugs on the carpet, so we had to ask the housekeeping to vacuum our floor after the 2nd day of stay. We stayed for 3 nights. The pool is small, and my kids didn't enjoy the pool.

- Nicholas De (10/5): - If you're going to stay at a hotel in Red Deer, do yourself a favour and pick Microtel! While my girlfriend and I chose the hotel for the water slide, it ended up being the best hotel I've stayed at for several reasons. The biggest reason is the friendly staff. I've stayed at various hotels, including a stay at a 4 star that had a jacuzzi in the room, and while they've all had kind staff that nod or say hello when you pass, they've never had friendly staff like Microtel Red Deer. On our first morning we went down for breakfast to find a huge variety of food available, and Wina welcomed us, said good morning and asked how we were doing. We experienced this our first 3 mornings. On the 4th morning we were welcomed by Vella, saying good morning and she hoped we enjoy the food. When I returned my trays, she said she hopes we are enjoying our stay with them. It was so nice to feel honest and genuine welcome from these lovely ladies. It was such a nice way to start the day! During our stay we would go to ask for the pool slide to be turned on. At first I kind of felt like I was being annoying because the person at the front desk would have to leave what they were doing to come to the pool and turn it on, but Fouad was always happy to help, and took the opportunity while walking back to the pool with me to ask how our stay was and if there was anything we needed to make our stay better. Thank you Wina, Vella, Fouad, and the rest for the staff for a wonderful stay!
- C4222HXstacyc (8/5): Good for a short stay - Hotel is a little dated. Clean. Decent breakfast in the morning. Good selection of foods. Lots of places close by to eat as well. There was a bunch of kids hockey teams there at the same time and those guest were very loud and the hotel did not seem to care about the other guests in the hotel. They were running up and down the hallways until late.

- Suzanne (4/5): - I specifically booked the hotel based on the amenities that were listed (bus/RV parking, restaurant, bar/lounge, breakfast). When we arrived at the hotel with our 12 foot trailer in tow and asked where the large parking stalls were we were told there actually aren’t any and it’s just first come first serve wherever you can find something to fit into. Since we arrived at 6:30 pm Wednesday and it had been a long day of driving we wanted to enjoy a drink in the lounge and then have dinner in the restaurant. We looked for the lounge only to find a sandwich board sign showing lounge hours on Fridays and Saturdays. I asked at the front desk and was told that’s the only time the lounge is open. We then went to the room instead to freshen up for dinner. In the room was a menu for the restaurant which had restaurant hours listed for all week and I noticed it had the same name as the lounge. I went back down to the front desk to ask where the restaurant was. I was told it’s the same as the lounge and only open on the weekends. Absolutely nowhere online through Expedia or through the hotel website did it say weekends only! We now had nothing to drink or eat. To top it all off when we went back to the room again and went into the bathroom we found it had not been cleaned. There was dried pee from another guest all over the toilet and floor. Unfortunately before I could get a picture my elderly mother wet some toilet paper and tried to clean it up herself! Unacceptable!

- Arfel (10/5): - Very clean overall, nice staff , good breakfast . the only thing i can pick is the bathtub drain seems clogged up or not draining fast enough. We took a shower after checking in with 2 inches of water in it. Overall good experience.
