Guest Reviews
- Julia (10/5): - This gem of a little hotel is a best kept secret in Tokyo. Convenient to subways and a nice area with many restaurants. The rooms are large and comfortable. It has a separate library and a laundry room so you can freshen your clothes without spending a fortune. The staff are lovely and very helpful. We have stayed here twice now and will stay again on our next trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and spacious - The room was very spacious and clean. Very convenient location with multiple subway line stations nearby. Staff was very helpful. My only complaint is the traditional blind and window was not thick enough. Would prefer black out curtains . I was woken up by the light at 6 every morning. Bring your sleeping eye mask if that’s an issue for you too.
- Peter (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful room, classic Japanese style
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay. - The room is spacious and well-designed, but be aware that some rooms have no view at all, facing either a building or an empty lot. It may be worth asking for a room with a view before booking. Transportation near the location is convenient, and there are convenient store within a few minutes walk.
- Tiffany (8/5): - About 12- 13 mins away from Akibahara area. The rooms were very spacious and nice though the only downside was my sister found a yellow spot on one of the towels placed in our room and hadnt noticed till after she started using it. It isn't really close to the center of Tokyo but we walked a lot so we didn't mind. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating for us.
- Diana (10/5): - A stunning boutique hotel that's near public transit. Spacious rooms and also has laundry!
- Amal (10/5): - Authentic Japanese hotel experience. Love it. Will stay again on my next trip
- LOK HANG (8/5): - Excellent for the ones who want to shop for ski equipments because it is walkable distance to the ski shops. Chill place to stay.
- miguel (10/5): - Awesome boutique hotel
- YU HIM (10/5): Hidden Gem in Toyko - Third time to stay here. Everything is just perfect. My home in Tokyo. Suitable for those opting for personalised services. Room is big. Bed is comfortable. Huge bathtub. Double sink. Helped arrange bookings for restaurants with own recommendation. Duly collected all parcels for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Among the best hotel experiences I’ve had. Attention to details and customer service were remarkable.
- Nadinne (10/5): Exceptional staff and superior comfort! - Our favorite hotel experience in our world travels, because of its exceptional staff service and combination of beauty and comfort within the room! It is a traditional style Japanese decor with all the comforts expected of the modern western, including spaciousness, shower area with “onsen” soaking tub, washlet style toilet, bar area with stocked refrigerator and espresso machine. We also liked having a clothes washing area and a quiet library with snacks steps away down the hall. After a day in busy Tokyo, it was wonderful to retreat to a very quiet hotel with a comfortable attached restaurant. The nearest train station is only a short walk away, as are a few cafes and other eateries.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceptional in every way!!! - Exceptional in every way. Boutique feel, attentive staff invested in you as a guest, wonderful adjoining restaurant. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Wonderful location very close to JR and metro stations but quietly tucked away. Serene doesn’t begin to describe how relaxing this place is. A wonderful oasis!! I wish other 5 star hotels would take lessons from here!
- Cheng (10/5): - Staffs are all very helpful and friendly, room is super clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten for two nights at the end of our two week honeymoon in Japan and it was a wonderful, quiet oasis with a fantastic staff. The room was very spacious and had excellent amenities (espresso machine, two types of robes, great skincare products, etc).
This is a very small hotel and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had an excellent stay. They were able to get us a reservation at a great sushi bar at the last minute and even wrapped our breakable purchases in bubble wrap before we headed to the airport. As long as you are ok with not being in the center of the city, I highly recommend staying here. There is a subway right across the street but you will need to transfer to get to most other main neighborhoods (only about 15-20 minutes total, but something to be aware of)
We really enjoyed our stay and it was a fantastic way to end our trip!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 酒店房间是日式传统的榻榻米,服务也是日式传统的,礼貌周到。酒店位置也不错,离地铁站近,出行很方便。住宿体验很好!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I've stayed in a large number of hotels across Japan over the last 5 years and all have been excellent so I don't speak lightly when I say that Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten is the best I've ever stayed in.
The location was prefect, a nice quiet suburb but in easy walking distance to both Akihabara and Chiyoda, and also with access to Tokyo's excellent subway only a short walk from the hotel.
The room was wonderful, a feeling of luxury whilst blending an old traditional Japanese style and also extremely spacious.
The attached 1899 Ochanomizu Green Tea restaurant was also excellent, both the quality of the food and the quality of the service.
Highest praise must go to the wonderful hotel staff who helped us with several bookings and with directions. They were warm and inviting, attentive without being intrusive and a credit to both their hotel and country.
I sincerely hope I will have the opportunity to stay there again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique, quiet and secluded woth outstanding staff yet very close to everything via metro.
- Kai (10/5): - I like everything there, the room, the location, the staff, the service, the amenities, the facilities and the food.
- Philip (10/5): - An outstanding hotel for service and facilities. An oasis of calm after a busy day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything about this hotel was beyond expectations. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. And the location is close to shopping centers, restaurants and subway stations - basically all you ever need. I normally would prefer trying different hotels, but this hotel is one of the few, if not only, that I would definitely go back to.
I have visited Japan multiple times, but this trip was a special one with my mother who absolutely fell in love with the hotel as well. I cannot thank the staff enough for such a great experience. Highly recommend to everyone visiting the city :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything about this place was excellent. Will surely come back to stay here next time we are in Tokyo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is very clean quiet and the staff is very generous and polite. Loved every day of it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A unique nine-room boutique hotel housed in a modern building in a convenient location close to a Tokyo Metro station. In addition to a nice modern room and bed in Japanese tradition, what made our stay so memorable was the hotel’s ever caring, attentive, friendly, courteous staff led by its Guest Relations person Hitomi Takei. She and her team members, too many to mention each one by name, took care our of our every travel and touring need. They went out of their way to assist us with grace and care. It was one of our best hotel stays.we were treated like a family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I'm a frequent traveler to Japan, both solo and with family. So when I'm saying that this was my best stay in Tokyo, ever, it's the highest compliment there is. Seriously.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great time staying in the hotel! The room is very spacious and comfortable, the hotel staff is very attentive, super helpful and professional. The room service was excellent, we had a very relaxing morning enjoyed our our breakfast before we went out for sightseeing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nicely mixed modern and tradition.
Very comfort and clean
Closed to metro and 6min by taxi away from T-cat
- Queenie Kwan Yin (10/5): Amazing hotel - Amazing stay. All the staff were friendly— excellent service with a personal touch. They booked several restaurants for us and provided detailed maps and directions with photos of the restaurants to make sure that we wouldn’t get lost.
Our room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable beds. Spacious bathroom with all the amenities that we needed.
- David (10/5): - Great location, walking distance to quite a few different stations. Hotel is excellent, quiet, comfortable, spacious and the bathtub is amazing. If I’m coming back to Tokyo again I’ll definitely stay here again.
- Vincent (10/5): Simply the Best! Beautiful boutique hotel! - Wonderful location in a quiet business district of Tokyo.... close to shopping and restaurants. Staff is super attentive and there for whatever you need.
I would definitely stay at this lovely hotel again when I visit Japan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxation at the end of 3 week trip - The service was top notch. Entire staff is courteous and makes sure that our every need was met, often proactively. The decor in the room was classy and soothing, with all the amenities we needed (and some we didn't know we needed.)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful hotel! The room is spacious and very well appointed. The staff could not be more helpful. It was like having our own personal travel consultants on standby. The location is in a business district but there is a lot close by and the area is well connected with multiple subway lines and JR line. Highly recommend this boutique hotel.
- Vincent (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Hotel! - Lovely Hotel! Beautiful room in Japanese style decor.... spacious room and wonderful staff.... they are extremely attentive to your needs, and always ready to assist in anything you need! One of the nicest boutique hotels I have stayed in!
Would definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best hotel I ever stayed in Tokyo. Strongly recommend it. The location is convenient, room has nice size for two and is super clean, facility is all new and well maintained and staffs are just super!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent service - Excellent service and large room, very comfort
- Allison (10/5): The absolute best hotel in Tokyo - I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honton. We stayed three different places during our trip to Japan: this hotel, a 5-star high-rise hotel, and a townhome. This hotel was the absolute best. The staff at the hotel were absolutely delightful. They greeted us by name the moment we arrived, and were 100% attentive throughout our 4 night stay. They were always willing to offer restaurant suggestions, and even offered to accompany us to the local drug store to help me find medicine when I had a mysterious allergic reaction. They go above and beyond. We will definitely be staying here again if we return to Tokyo. We stayed in the corner suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The room was immaculately clean, the fridge was always stocked with a variety of complimentary beverages, and the nightly turndown service was a treat. Not to mention the bathtub! What a delight!
- Helen (10/5): Excellent little hotel - Just fantastic
- Dante (10/5): - Love the room. Very clean. Very nice staff! Excellent! Definitely coming back and highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Great large room and excellent excellent service
- Verified traveler (10/5): Absolutely fabulous!!! - This small, boutique hotel is absolute perfection in every way.
- Zaki (10/5): Amazing hotel - Very nice hotel, very convenient location, quiet neighbourhood.
The room is huge and decor is beautiful. The attention to details is incredible.
Staff is very kind and helpful.
- Phil (10/5): The perfect retreat. - A central, calm relaxing place to return to after a day in a very busy city. The staff service was outstanding. The origami figures as part of the turn down service and the library were memorable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
- daniel (10/5): Best hotel we have stayed in Japan - Excellent Japanese style hotel with best service and hospitality extremely helpful staff in a very convenient location close to the subway station.
- James (10/5): Incredible rooms and service - Rooms have immense attention to detail. Extremely clean property. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Service is impeccable - better than all 5 star hotels in the United States and Europe I’ve been to.
Free, constantly refilled minibar of snacks, coffees, Coca Colas, Kirins, waters and juices.
Location is excellent; centralized around food and attractions, but just enough out of the way to be peaceful and pleasant.
Tremendous value for the experience.
- Darren (10/5): Wonderful boutique experience - Wonderful service provider by very considerate and professional staff. Quite an experience with large, thoughtful & luxurious rooms, this hotel is a true gem and treat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. 10/10, will go back again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A hotel gem in Tokyo - One of the best hotel experiences I have had. The interior design is the best of sophisticated Japanese style & every comfort & need is anticipated. The rooms are large, comfortable & quiet. Coffee & tea facilities are provided in the room & there is also a library lounge with snacks & drinks available. Free laundry facilitates are provided if you do not wish to pay for the service.
All the front desk staff are warm & friendly & happy to assist with any travel enquiries.
Although not situated in the center of many of the better know tourist areas in Tokyo, the hotel is close to the JR train line & subway system making access anywhere easy. There are many restaurants nearby if you want to eat locally.
- James (10/5): The Perfect Boutique Hotel. - A perfect boutique hotel in the quiet heart of the city center. This is an exquisite gem. The rooms are modern, but set in a traditional Japanese style. The service is impeccable, with almost one staff per room. It is clean, comfortable, and close to everything.
- tramaine (10/5): First time traveling to Japan - The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The helped us find close by restaurants that was open very late at night. They even gave us a map.I was able to reach them late at night and early in the morning. I loved the tub and the decoration of the room. The place was a very quiet and peaceful place to be. Also not far from public transportation. The next time I visit I would love to book a room there again.
- gurpreet (10/5): An Exceptional Experiance - After a long trip, the welcome I received during check in was one of the best of any hotel receptions. It was warm, personal and made you feel very welcomed. This hotel is a great experience, all the Japanese hospitality and culture bundled into a charming hotel with wonderful staff.
