DEBORAH (4/5): - Absolutely no place to hang clothes, not even a hook! Had a king bed, but only one nightstand. The sink was separate from the shower and tub. Typical amenities were provided on the wall in the shower. However, there was no soap available for the sink. The room was clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. We would not stay there again.

Selena (10/5): - This was the perfect getaway, less than a mile to the beach. Affordable. Comfy beds. Nice staff who upgraded us to a downstairs unit as it was difficult for us to climb stairs, which included a free upgrade from double beds to queen beds. Housekeeping staff was very kind and understanding, as we did get a stomach illness during our trip & had to leave the room in a less than desirable condition. All around, would stay here again.
Virgil (2/5): Smallest least comfortable room. - Smallest room ever. One chair, no desk or table. Asked for a second chair. Grudgingly gave us a second very odd uncomfortable chair. No closet! Not one single hook anywhere to hang ANYTHING. inadequate lighting. Fan in bathroom needs replacing. Rattles and bangs. Only 2 paper cups for drinks and coffee. Not enough plugins for phones and chargers. No ice machine. Manager unfriendly. Young lady who checked me in was very pleasant. Room not cleaned between the two days of our stay. Asked for a do not disturb sign thinking they might actually clean the room each day which they did not. Grumpily told they didn’t have any such thing. Only positive was it was a clean room when we arrived.

Nathan (8/5): - This is a clean hotel with an excellent a/c which you can control in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would have liked to have a location for my wife to put her makeup on but she made due with a table. The location is awesome as there is a diner, a mexican restaurant, and the beach nearby. We definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying there again.
Emily (4/5): - Staying at an "Inn" with over 9.0 on Expedia seemed like a no-brainer, so I didn't dig deep into what I was getting my family into. When we pulled up, our GPS took us into the parking lot of the liquor store directly next to the motel, where a police car had its lights on and was talking to one person while multiple homeless people sat nearby. We parked near that situation and went into the lobby, which was one small, dingy room. The front desk receptionist was kind and helpful, there's my only positive part of this review. Our room looked okay, but both beds had very sandy sheets and the walls were so thin that even with my white noise blasting, we could hear the neighbors talking (or maybe it was their TV?) through the whole night. I don't want to brag, but I'm really good at sleeping. It takes some NOISE to keep me up. This definitely felt more like a Motel 6 kind of place, and I am convinced that they have padded these positive reviews. There's just NO way this many people thought this motel was an excellent inn.

Kayla was THE friendliest receptionist ever and gave us tips to best enjoy the local area, affordably! She's clearly proud of what they've achieved as a family with the recent refurb, and rightly so. It makes a refreshing change to interact with the owners rather than staying in a hotel chain. The room itself had all we needed to crash comfortably for a couple of nights as part of a road trip through California. It's walking distance to the beach (although it was pretty windy the one day that we had to explore that part of Oceano!). Would happily stay again if ever passing through

William (8/5): Clean beach type hotel - The property looks newly renovated and is very clean and without wear inside the rooms. The front desk was professional and efficient in getting us checked in. The a/c blew really cold on the bed next to it and there wasnt a blanket just sheets and a duvee. The room could also use a second waste bin although there was a larger waste recepticle in the walk way. Its about a 5 min drive to downtown Pismo Beach and about a 15 min walk to the Oceano beach. There is a market next door which is very convenient as well. If your main goal is to spend the day at the beach you can't beat this for the price and location.

Verified traveler (6/5): Decent, but not great - This place was fine. The staff were all nice and they were helpful anytime we asked for something. The rooms were clean, the shower worked well, and it didn't smell like anything (a good thing!). However, it was so noisy. The place is right next to the main road and although we got there late, hoping there wouldn't be as much traffic, the fact is you can hear every door open or car door slam from the road or the liquor store next door. We thought perhaps the sound of the fan could drown out the noise, but the fan unfortunately (or fortunately for some) didn't make enough white noise to help. It did work well though in terms of cooling or heating. The front door is about 1/2"- 3/4" too small, so you can basically stick your finger to the outside, which is probably why it was so loud. And there was also no soap in the sink, you had to go to the shower for soap if you wanted to wash your hands. We picked this because it got good reviews and maybe the rooms facing away from the street are better, but those last minute choice for us was not one we would make again. We do appreciate the service and the staff, however it might be worth investing in some doors that fit and are soundproof, especially on the rooms facing the street.

Sharmaine (10/5): - I absolutely loved the newly renovated room and the location is to die for. I started having daydreams of wanting to live there because I loved the vibe and location a lot. The only unpleasant thing was that the doors seem to have to be forced/slammed in to the door frame in order to be shut and locked properly. As someone who has a pet peeve for slamming doors, this irked me and triggered my emotional response to thinking others are angry around me but quickly reminding myself that this was the nature of the whole building got me out of that emotional state pretty quickly. I definitely want to come back to stay again some day to enjoy it more because there were several things I wanted to do but didn’t get to because of prioritizing errands/needs over leisure/recreation. Overall I am thankful for the opportunity to even stumble across the area and experience it! I would definitley recommend, I almost wanted to forgo reviewing to gatekeep it from the public but the staff was also very friendly and kind that I want to make sure they have steady business for years to come.

I have bad asthma and also had to arrive very late, so I contacted them about both before booking. They were fantastic through the whole process including when we learned our arrival would be even later, great when we checked in, and then giving us a little extra time to check out. Saved the day! The property also felt clean and newly remodeled. And I appreciated the shower toiletry dispensers vs tiny bottles. We would definitely stay again (and hopefully much earlier)!

Rude guests making noise with their children and a party truck at 11pm ruined the calm and quiet accommodations - but this wasn't the fault of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful upon check in. I would encourage travelers to consider the Dune Surfer Inn if they are in the area.

tanya (8/5): - The hotel is 5-10 min walk to the Oceano beach, so if you want to be near Sand dunes or just the beach, it’s a good place. Our room faced highway 1 , so we can definitely hear all the cars , but we stayed during the week so it wasn’t that bad . The only two things I would say can be better is the bathroom fan (very loud), and the blankets were super thin. There should be extra blankets because the room is cold , and while there is a heater it makes the room too stuffy. I think adding warm blankets or improving thermo isolation will help. The room is very clean and has fridge and microwave , shower water hot. Staff is very nice!
