Frederick (10/5): Wonderful classic hotel with great service - Charming old converted home. The craftsmanship in the facility was amazing. Family run with wonderful service. A very pleasant experience. Quite a step up from modern cookie cutter hotels. A elevator would have been nice to make it easier to access our room.

Don’t choose croissant for breakfast - two tiny ones from the supermarket heated up. The yard and driveway were woefully maintained. Looked like a dump.

Graham (8/5): A charming Inn that’s good value for money. - I struggled to find any accommodation in New Orleans as it was completely sold out due to the Super Bowl game. Therefore I was grateful to find somewhere that was not ripping me off at stupid prices like the other hotels in the area. I loved the unique feel of the venue, as it was like staying in a family home and not like a hotel. The host - David - was charming and I enjoyed our in-depth conversation about global travel. The accommodation was very comfortable and I slept very well. The coffee machine outside my bedroom door on the landing and shared by other residents was very convenient and good coffee. The breakfast was delicious with a croissant proving a French touch. I was staying there related to work and the Wi-Fi signal kept dropping during the evening which was frustrating. The hot water works on a demand basis and whilst my shower started off hot it eventually was cold by the time I was finished. The internal decor is charming and has antique furniture that is in keeping with the French theme. But the gloss paint around the door frames is badly chipped and gives a run down appearance. The carpet on the staircase is trodden and looks old. The air conditioning was noisy and I turned it off.

Nice size room with closet and desk. It’s a very old house so drafty. After first cold night, requested extra blanket but our room was not made after first night and no extra blanket provided. Great view of scenic yard. Pedestal vanity in bathroom so no room for toiletries. Even though the description on website said separate tub and shower, there is just a gigantic deep tub—even with a stool I was too scared to try it. The breakfast was very good—cooked to order eggs, potatoes, sausage patty, and croissant.

We did sleep, but it was a little tricky getting comfortable. I think that if we stayed there again I would look at another room to see if any beds are different. The weather was gorgeous and we particularly loved spending time in the evening on the upstairs balcony overlooking the fountain. The lighting in the parlor was not bright enough for us to play cards at night. But that was ok --perfect natural lighting for daytime.

Rhonda (10/5): - No one told us how DELICIOUS and beautifully presented our breakfast would be. The chef’s special grits were incredibly delicious! The bacon and eggs with their homemade toasted bread… along with grits or fried potatoes with peppers and onions made a fantastic breakfast. Our handsome server was a true gentleman. The upstairs porch was fun to sit on and sip coffee. The grounds need some upkeep. It would make the Inn a 5 star. Power wash the sidewalks and sweep the walkways of muddy runoff, and this Inn would be gorgeous. The staff was lovely and our room was very spacious. It took a bit to figure out how to get the hot water turned on in our shower~ but it did finally. Conveniently located to both downtown Hammond and Ponchatoula. The plantation vibe in southern Louisiana was fun. I definitely recommend it

David (10/5): Great Experience - A Journey Back in Time - Step back into time and enjoy a unique experience. Wonderfully restored mansion and beautiful grounds. What a great break from the usual modern day cookie cutter hotels. The service was excellent and staff extremely friendly and attentive to what you might need to make your stay a treat.

Missed out on breakfast as we had to leave early in the hopes of beating on coming storm system. Never did master the small TV.

I did not like the manner in which the OWNER spoke with me by phone when I called for help to locate the property. He needs to learn customer service help/assistance and tonality!! (speaking from someone in CS for almost 40 years in business) He should have been able to say - from I 12 go north on 51. you'll need to turn RIGHT at OLD COVINGTON RD. OR EVEN PUT THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE WEBPAGE WITH INFORMATION OF IT BEING DIFFICULT TO SEE SIGNS AFTER DARK. At one point, he told me "lady, I don't know what to tell you!" the streets were dark and it was difficult seeing the S.Holly street sign at night. Once I arrived, I did not like NOT KNOWING where to go or what to do to "CHECK IN" - there were no signs. Again, the owner told me I needed to move my car before I was able to unload my things. When I explained I had those things, he allowed me to unload at the door entry -go to the back to park my car - then walk back up to the location to go in. I did not like finding a hair in my complimentary breakfast the next morning. I did not like some kind of foam pieces on the corner of the desk when I needed to sit there and map out the location to which I was leaving this INN to go to in Ponchatoula. There was no offer of any compensation for the cost of my room especially after finding a HAIR IN MY FOOD!!! I hope this was an isolated incident but the issues with this place enlarged by frustration of being on this trip (after being in rain coming out of Houston, TX and much construction between Houston and LA line).
Maryam (8/5): - The Shahrzad suite we got was very beautiful, but had not been updated and smelled old. They should work more on the upkeep of the property as it is such a beautiful property with so much potential. There were some chaufs and an table with cigarette butts right in front of our suites intrance door which was not pleasant. At breakfast the waiter kept saying that our breakfast was complimentary as if we had not already paid for it with the room and made us uncomfortable! They only had coffee and no hot tea. And the grounds were not kept up. The gazebo was dirty and the fringes had fallen off and there was repairs coing on in the main house where we had breakfast and was super noisy with workers going in and out.

Alesha (8/5): Beautiful property! - The property is beautiful. Smaller than I thought but still nice for me and my husband. Our room was private in its own area and was beautiful. The room was extremely clean. The bed was hard and the shower had no pressure.
Christopher (10/5): It was an amazing stay however short. Will be back - The owner is the best. Absolutely loved the conversation connecting with a fellow service member. I love everything but there was construction going on but it was explained and was no problem at all. Facility improvements to make the experience an EXPERIENCE!

Viji (10/5): Charming Inn in the charming town of Hammond. - Charming in Hammond just a 3 minute drive to downtown Hammond. Amazing breakfast thanks to the Butcher and Baker. Best Croissants I've ever had and the Avocadeo toast was insanely good. Other folks said the sausages were the best they have ever had. Stayed in the Pompadour room which was quite large. Comfy bed and lovely antiques. The bathroom was large and a bit of a let down (looked like a Home Depot renovation) but everything worked well. There was no soaps or shampoos but luckily I brought my own. Very friendly inn-keeper. He doesn't live there but can be contacted via cell phone #. As a single traveling female I felt safe there. Would stay there again in a heartbeat and Hammond is such a food town. Don't miss the Saturday morning farmers market. Fabulous Yoga Studio nearby called Downtown Yoga.

Ryan (10/5): Second time around - Second time staying at the Inn and it was just as lovely as our first time around. We stayed in the Oriental suite this time. The Cottage Suites are a little more secluded, but each room is fun and unique. Lovely continental breakfast or their new updated Brunch!

Vicki (6/5): It was comfortable enough and close enough to where I needed to go that I would consider it again. - The breakfast was fair. I expected more options. It was the same breakfast every morning and nothing special, but it was edible. They could offer a choice between their "usual" breakfast and a hot cereal, like oatmeal, or even some pastries or muffins.
Tiffany (6/5): Pretty, but disappointing - It's a lovely house, but not nearly as nice as the pictures make it seem the room was spacious and nicely decorated. The beds and pillows were hard and not comfortable. The grounds were dirty, with trash and tools laying around. The drain of the Jacuzzi was broken. We called for assistance but were not able to speak to anyone, so spent about 15-20 minutes fixing it. Someone called us back the next day and we explained. There was no apology or offer of assistance, they just said they were "glad we figured it out." Breakfast was another poor experience. We were given a couple options, but were disappointed. My husband's fried eggs were dirty, and my scrambled eggs were burnt. The croissants were dry and hard. The meal was essentially uneatable, so we went into town to buy breakfast.

Brenda (8/5): We will be back! - Lovely experience! We enjoyed our stay in the Evangeline room! Very relaxing, comfortable, and quiet. I’d love to stay there again someday! Our only downside was our room did not have a shower - but a huge tub instead. Not a big deal - I should have asked that in advance. I’d still recommend!
