Guest Reviews
- Cynthia (10/5): -
- Logan (1/5): Terrible Customer Service - I booked this property through Booking.com and experienced significant issues both before arrival and on the night of my rescheduled stay.
Initially, I contacted the hotel directly to request a date change due to a severe winter storm and illness, as traveling would not have been safe. I spoke with a manager, who stated there was nothing the hotel could do because the reservation was booked through Booking.com. During the call, the manager repeatedly advised that guests should not book through third-party sites, stating that the hotel “makes peanuts” when reservations are not booked directly. I had difficulty responding or explaining my situation, as the manager spoke at length without allowing much opportunity for dialogue. She also stated that if I arrived while sick, I would be turned away from the property, despite the fact that my call was specifically intended to prevent that situation and handle things responsibly in advance.
After Booking.com later contacted the hotel on my behalf, I was informed that the manager told them I had been extremely rude and had hung up on her. This was not accurate. I did not hang up, nor was I rude, and this mischaracterization was concerning.
While Booking.com eventually succeeded in moving the reservation to a later date, the issues continued during the rescheduled stay. When I arrived at the hotel on Saturday night, the front desk confirmed they had the email confirmation of my reservation but stated it was not in their system. The front desk contacted the manager, who was out of the country, and I was again told there was nothing the hotel could do and that I would need to contact Booking.com.
I then contacted Booking.com, who stated they needed to speak directly with the hotel. For over an hour, I sat in the lobby while the front desk, the manager, and Booking.com spoke back and forth by phone. Ultimately, I was told the only option was to cancel my reservation and repurchase it. The manager stated I could rebook at the

- Karen (1/5): Read the fine print! We did not stay because I over reacted to the unprofessional manager and was ba - Nothing Everything
- Trena (7/5): -
- Jennyfer (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Nice property. Would stay again. - Location, condition of hotel, clean, nice Just a bit too expensive
- Shayna (6/5): - Staff was friendly - room was clean and ac was on upon arrival. Breakfast was decent. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the shower curtain did nothing to keep the water in the shower. The bathroom fan blew the curtain, so all the water went onto the floor, creating a mess, and the water pressure was so hard it actually hurt to stand under it for any longer than a few seconds.
We were on the first floor, and the room above was very loud - not that the people were loud, but we could hear every footstep and the door opening and closing throughout our stay.
- Z3772SJroberta (2/5): Unauthorized Charges - Plain and Simple, do not stay here. They charged our card extra fees for checking in a little early without informing us they were going to do so. If that was the case, I would have gone and got a cup of coffee and come back but they never said a word and charge showed on our credit card. It was also never mentioned when we made the reservation Three messages in and no return call from the manager and nobody else in the place will help you. So far, we have been the manager was in a meeting, shopping and not in at the time we were told call.
Probably the worst customer service ever. Again, do not stay here unless you want extra charges put on your card.
- Kim (10/5): - Decent breakfast, great coffee, Staff friendly and helpful.
- Cheryl (8/5): - It was a decent place to stay.
- Jill (10/5): - Easy to get to.
- Kimberly (6/5): - The young woman checking us in was friendly and efficient, then an older man came in and was rude and wanted to charge us $25 for early check in, even though our room was not ready. Why would I pay $25 more to check in 15 minutes early to a room I did not have access too? The hot water in the room was warm at best and the air conditioner was loud and on its last leg.
- James (9/5): great location. staff was great. The room was clean except for floor could have been vacuumed better - they had breakfast sandwiches that were saugage egg and cheese on a crossant, that were premade and the crossant was soggy. Not very good. I took the meat and eggs out and ate that. Breakfast
- Alexander (10/5): Enjoyable stay and very quiet and restful. - Breakfast was good and well attended to by staff. Pool wasn't open. Temperature was in the 90's and the pool was closed.
- Megan (10/5): - Pool was not available.
- Christina (10/5): Well done! - Simple no frills hotel. Comfortable bedding, very safe and clean. Could use a little updating but nothing major. The shower was exceptional. And the staff was very friendly.
- Kristina (10/5): - Combined for Inkcarceration Festival, especially for the price and distance.
- Rachael Bergman (10/5): -
- Tayler (5/5): The stay was fine but the a/c unit needs servicing due to strong mildew smell - The lobby area was clean and modern The room was terribly musty. I had to turn off the a/c unit because the air it was blowing smelled so strong.
- Charlotte (8/5): - This hotel was very clean. It was conveniently located off the highway. It was good, nothing outstanding but very clean and quiet. Pool was not available but we knew that before arrival.
- Crystal (4/5): - Mildew smell. Front desk person said it was because hotel was old. Ive been in much older hotels that dont smell like mildew!
- Eric (2/5): Horrible - Not good kept trying to come into our room while we were sleep without kids and would t give us our depot back at all we had to go buy our own cleaning supplies cause the room was nasty and worst I’ve ever been in conditions
- Bradley (4/5): - .b
- Charles (8/5): - Ok
- Amy (7/5): Good -
- Lorry (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Very quiet, clean and felt very safe. Beds were excellent and linens were clean and crisp. A full breakfast with a lot of choices. Great food. Coming again next year and will stay here again if available.
- Agnieszka (10/5): - Good locations, friendly staff
- Amanda (8/5): - It was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast had many options.
- Shadoe B (10/5): - Great experience from checkout to leaving. Clean.
- Jane (4/5): - At check in they charged us $250 when the rooms were paid for in advance. Pool was closed and there was no elevator for someone with bad knees had to walk up stairs.
Tub floor creaked with every movement when taking a shower.
- N4473DOellier (2/5): Terrible Experience - Avoid at all costs!! - The managers and employees were unbelievably rude and unhelpful. From check-in to check-out, every interaction was unpleasant. The staff seemed annoyed by any request, and their attitude was consistently dismissive. My bed also unclean and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and welcoming stay. Look elsewhere!
- Floyd (2/5): Dont do it - Manager/owner was very rude. We were there for a softball tournament, money was taken out of one of the rooms, mold in bathroom of our room, pool is broken, manager yelled and cursed at us while we were checking out.
- Brian (6/5): - The bed was a little hard and toilet ran all night.
- Jeff (10/5): - Easy to get to right off major highway. Will stay again sometime.
- H. (9/5): Superb -
- Mike (10/5): - Beautiful property.
- Daryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheila (5/5): Close to our destination. - Location was the reason we chose this hotel. We expected a lot more with "Executive" in the name. It was quiet. Not too many guests even on Memorial Day weekend. Breakfast was meh. The hot food did not look inviting. There wasn't any hot water for the shower....just luke warm. We reserved for 4 nights but our flight into OH got canceled so we didn't make it to this hotel until the second day. Then we were not really comfortable overall....no hot water in the shower...so we booked another hotel the last night back in Columbus. Even though we left before check out time...10 AM...we still were charged for the last night. We told the desk clerk there was no hot water and he said they just got a new water heater so maybe it needed adjusting. I think this is a very rural hotel and maybe it doesn't get much traffic so they are doing all they can to cut corners. I respect that, however, hot water in the shower is a must. We only booked here because other places were sold out in the area and it was a last minute reservation.
- Explorer561530 (2/5): BEWARE- of upcharges at check-in - Very clean, but I HATE surprise charges. Best Western charges $25 for more than 2 people, that are older than 12. If Best Western wants to charge that, it should have been at booking. Period! Whether it's 3rd party or Best Western, it should be at booking. I feel that they used a 3rd party for an excuse to go rogue and charge. What can I do? By the time I check-in, it's almost 1 am., so my reservation is non refundable. I have to accept the upcharge in order to stay.
Also, wasn't impressed with check-in. Very smug. Left a message for manager to contact me and wrote on hotel copy receipt that I was not happy. No follow up, but they definitely made sure to charge me.
- Brent (8/5): - Breakfast
- Richard (10/5): - It was close to interstate. Not much at that exit, gas stations and Wendy's and McDonald's .
- Zachery (1/5): Bad -
- L9293BXstephl (2/5): Not the Best Trip - Staff was rude and inconsiderate. Jetted tub only worked for 15 minutes then off for an hour. If I couldn't be in the jetted tub, I wanted to read but lighting was very dim and couldn't see. The idea of this trip was to get away from very busy life and just relax but the 2 ways I relax were very hard to accomplish.
- Lynne (8/5): Very good -
- Maps46288124339 (10/5): Will definitely be back! - Exceptionally clean and accommodating. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My daughter arrived for the breakfast as the staff was cleaning up. They took the time to stop and open everything up to allow her to eat. This included making waffles.
- Trinity (2/5): - The owners live on the property. We don’t live super far away and my area lost power so we were trying to get a room for our roommate and her baby so we brought her to our room. They pounded on our door at 2am telling my husband to get out or they are calling the cops they wouldn’t even let him sit in the car on there property. We took our roommate home that same night. They then banged on the door at 8am with a video camera taking video of the room to make sure nobody was in the room. Then after we left they gave us back the security deposit and then two days later took 250 back. I would not stay here again if someone paid me to!
- Kathy (1/5): Bad -
- L3648GPerinw (2/5): Employees need better training - I completely understand that hotels have policies they must follow, but this hotel needs to make sure their hotel employees know their own policies.
I called a few hotels looking for a place where my under-21 daughter could stay for the night while trying to travel home. Knowing that most hotels won’t allow someone under 21 to check in, I called ahead to see if an exception could be made. The person who answered the phone at 9:20pm at this Best Western told me my daughter could check in, but they would need my information to authorize/allow it.
At midnight, my daughter arrives at the hotel and is told she can’t check in. I call the hotel, and the employee confirms that my daughter cannot check in. This employee said she called and woke up the owner, who is sleeping safe in his bed, and he says she absolutely cannot be allowed to check in.
Again, I understand policy, but now my child will have to drive 4.5 hours home overnight because policy is more important than safety, and she has wasted time and gone out of her way to stop at this hotel because their employees aren’t properly trained.
- Acebatman (2/5): Worst Hotel - Very disappointed in this hotel, we have stayed at many Best Westerns with great customer service but this hotel 👎🏾 Owner will try to respond with we don't see your name...etc (see other complaints). but we went to this hotel and it's bad. 👎🏾
- Amanda (4/5): - Dirty wash cloth on the bathroom floor.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Very clean and great staff.
- Philip (10/5): - This is third time we have stayed here because it was convenient for us
- Sharry (10/5): - Great stay! Very clean! Great staff!
- Satwinder (10/5): - Good
- Philip (10/5): - Receptionist was very nice and accommodating. Went out of her way to see to our safety and comfort going so far as to go out and spread salt around our vehicle so we didn't slip and fall when we checked out. I appreciate people who go above and beyond
.
- Jeff (8/5): - Clean, good price point , and friendly staff. We would stay again.
- Felicia (10/5): - Easy check in and out
- Companion62291656684 (6/5): I like the it - Overall a nice hotel. I appreciate a clean hotel in the area. I need to remember to use my rewards points next time I think it may need an upgrade in the next few years. I know Morrow County needs to have a decent place for travelers to stay in the coming 2 to 3 years
- Elise (4/5): - I tried to call ahead & it took me 7 tries to get someone to answer the phone. Then when i get there, i try to call the front desk with no answer. Then they call me & inform me that i have to pay an additional $25 per person to add 2 people to a 4 person room, tho i oringinally ordered the 2 queen bed room for 3 people & paid way too much for what should really be a motel.... so we will NOT be staying at this hotel again! Totally ridiculous & they try to blame Expedia for the price hike!! Not only was the room too bright from the hallway & outdoor lights when we turned out the room lights to sleep, the sink wouldn't drain & the beds were horribly uncomfortable. Definitely will be staying somewhere else next time we're in this area.
- Luciano (8/5): - All good
- Kerry (8/5): - This was a clean, comfortable place to stay! I would happily stay here again.
- anthony (10/5): - This property and its people are great
- Tracy (9/5): Superb - The staff was accommodating by allowing us to check in early to dress for a wedding. A few things were dated, but overall a pleasant stay for what we needed.
- Seaside00721711274 (2/5): Beware! Don't stay here! Go somewhere else! - Do not stay here not clean, rough, and managers lack customer service training, very rude and disrespectful. They will respond with whatever excuses they want but you have been warned. They need to clean sheets (under mattress) and bathrooms. 🤢🤮
- Bernadette (8/5): Very good - It was very clean, staff was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good. I didn't like being on the 2nd floor w/no elevator. I realize that 12-15 steps aren't many for most but certain health conditions can make that task a bit challenging for some.
I get it if you're completely booked, but if you're not, come on.
- Kimberly (3/5): I will not be staying here again thank you. - Location was nice since it was right off the interstate highway. When I made the reservation I asked for a top floor room since I was a woman traveling along. I received an email indicating that my request would be honored but the desk staff would not honor it. Also, the room was cold and only a thin blanket on the bed meant that I was cold all night. Here is a copy of the request honor.

- Jessica (10/5): - This Best Western was everything we needed it to be - super clean, provided coffee in the morning and was very easy to get to. All the staff we met were very nice and helpful. I would absolutely recommend!
- Ann (10/5): - This is the best, cleanest motel we have EVER been in! Highly recommend 👌
- Jamie (10/5): Clean, simple hotel - Hotel is a no frills hotel but VERY clean. Included breakfast which was pretty good - the waffles were very good! You can run down the street and grab bottles of water, sodas etc. there is also a Wendy’s and MacDonalds within walking distance s
- Ellis (8/5): Very good -
- Tammy (10/5): Excellent - Staff was incredible, breakfast was excellent, room was great!!! Highly recommend them!!! It was all excellent!
- Brenda (8/5): - The room and the bed was good, and so was the breakfast. We couldn’t use the direct TV remote, but ended up not needing it because we had a long driving day and went to sleep early.
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good -
- larry8061 (10/5): Great Breakfast - A very well maintained property with clean rooms, enough hot water and more than enough light. However it is the breakfast that stood out...be prepared......REAL potatoes!!, eggs; not powdered eggs and add water variety, the sausage had a nice flavor and was not cooked to shoe leather consistency. The orange juice didn't have the usual after taste. Easy on and easy off to the freeway and I did not notice any freeway noise. It is also at an exit that isn't hyper busy so driving is not chaos. WSould certainly stay here again.
- Susan (10/5): - Hotel is clean and comfortable. Nothing much except fast food to eat nearby. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok. The usual stuff like eggs and waffles. Very convenient.
- Barry (8/5): Very good - The hotel was very clean. Breakfast was ok. Overall the staff was accommodating and courteous. It was quiet and the beds were comfortable enough. There was no elevator! The swimming pool was drained. My room key started not to work on the second night and they had a hard time fixing it.
- Patrick (10/5): - The property is in quiet and peaceful area. The hotel was well maintained and front desk was polite and professional. this is my second time staying here. this is my preferred place when visiting family in Ohio
- Todd (8/5): Very good - The potatoes and eggs for breakfast were delicious!
- kellis342 (2/5): Additional charges after payment & confirmation received DECEITFUL PRICING - BEWARE!! Website will ask how many adults & children, but does not ask childrens age. Upon check in they will charge you an additional $25.00 per child, per night if your child is 13 or older!! (maybe 12 & over?)
I thought booking directly would save me money, WRONG!! At least with Priceline I've never had a surprise bill. Then I was treated as if I was trying to be deceitful. The website should be upfront about this, but it is not. Best Western Executive Inn 3991 County Rd 172 Mount Gilead, Ohio shame on you for not being transparent with your pricing!
- Steve (8/5): Best Western Mount Gilead. - Hotel is clean with plenty of parking. Hallways are hot and stuffy. Air conditioner made a loud noise when turning off and on. Front desk said that the noise was ”normal”.
- Timothy (8/5): - Hotel room clean , tv a little small, requested a 1st floor room but couldn't get one cause management said they were booked but every morning 8am i left there were barely any cars in the parking lot?
- Teddy (9/5): Superb -
- Jessie (8/5): Clean & comfortable - Very accommodating with our really late check-in time. Smelled and looked very clean and comfortable beds and a nice shower.
- Daniel K (10/5): - Easy on and off the highway. Good place for the price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Make sure you check the fridge before putting anything it in. You can tell they don’t clean them. Covered in exploded soda or something
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (9/5): Superb -
- Vince (10/5): - Quite area. Easy access to interstate.
- Sparkyisthe1 (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice room. Had everything you could want in the room. Kleenex, Towels, TV, Mini fridge, and coffee. My wife was upset with the stained comforter.
- Sheila (8/5): Clean and comfortable with wonderfull staff - This BW was clean and well kept. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast area was neat and tidy and selection was more than adequate. I thought a nice touch was a handwritten white board with the names of the staff working that day, and another that had the selection for the daily breakfast. We had difficulty with our TV the first night, but staff quickly corrected it. Only fast food and gas stations at this exit, but easy access to 71 for short travel to restaurants. The only thing that was a bit off were the towels. They had to be the scratchiest I've ever used. Worked well to exfoliate the skin :)
- Donald (10/5): - Very clean, good area. Quiet
- Jose (10/5): - Bueno
- Jeremy (10/5): It was a pleasant experience. The staff was great and room was clean and cool. - Close to the location I needed to go to Nothing
- Brooke (5/5): Skip this one and spend the money on something nicer! - Location, cleanliness, and decent breakfast. Beds were uncomfortable, price was high for what we got, and the towels were extremely scratchy. We were told the kids ages did not get entered into the system incorrectly and it cost another $50 at check in. At that price we could have stayed closer to town at a Hilton or Hampton with a better breakfast and more comfortable accommodations.
- Mark (10/5): - Great location
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Most everything was good. The bath towels were small and rough. Need bigger ones and softer
- Karen (10/5): After a 13 hour drive, it was the perfect clean, safe spot to rejuvenate for another long drive. - The staff was so friendly and the rooms were very clean. We didn’t take advantage of the free breakfast, but it was well attended to and clean.
- Brian (4/5): We checked out a day early. - It was quite It smelled funny.
- Sheela (10/5): - Lovely hotel!
